Tru Grits is a Asian Fusion Restaurant inside the Sheraton Hotel not too far from Disneyland. I don't really see a fusion dish here and is more like the offer both Chinese and Western food. The Chinese food section here is small about 5 to 6 dishes only but they are excellent because the Chef were trained by Theresa Lin who is a famous Taiwanese who had many cookbooks and also a food critics and host from a local Chinese Language Radio. Despite the dish were not prepare by her but it came some of the best Chinese Food in my recent memory. The food quality taste very good home cooking food, most Chinese restaurant in OC just don't have an authentic taste. This one definite one, despite only few dish, they all very good. The Minced pork rice was on point. The pork flavor was great just wish there's more pork in this one. The Hainan Chicken Rice was definite one of better I had, the chicken was tender and use freerange one. The ginger sauce can be better I think. The best food so far I had try is easily their house signature short ribs, it was a huge portion size and was very tender, basically falling off like it was butter. This dish will make any meat lover happy. Their dessert were good but they are western style, Creme brulee was very good. I wanted to see Chinese Dessert in the future. My new favorite spot! I'm a local down in GG and found this place on yelp and decided to try it. Came here for my birthday dinner but the people I came with had already ate. I absolutely love appetizers so I was really shocked when my little group was down to only eat appetizer with me. All thier apps looked super yummy. While we were choosing what to pick our waitress brought us the happy hour menu which was similar to the regular menu just $5! What a steal. Happy Hour 4 to 6p everyday So we ordered: popcorn chicken, crispy Brussels sprouts (and I hate veggies), edemame, chicken wings to start with. The popcorn chicken was the most delicious thing I have ever had. We ended up ordering another round. The Brussels sprouts were so damn good I was impressed. The edemame was delicious. The wings were just okay nothing to rave about but they were not awful either. We weren't completely full so we ordered the mac and cheese. It comes with bacon and mushrooms. I asked them to hold the mushrooms and they did. It was really rich, enjoyed it. For drinks we wanted the fish bowl but it ended up only being offered during summer . So we got beers to start. Then we saw a drink 'el papa frank'. That was strong and so delicious! Bravo to the bartender! Overall loved this spot. Our waitress was fantastic and so was the bartender. I have had this location booked marked for a while and I was finally able to visit over the weekend. I didn't know the location was attached to the hotel which was an issue. I had to pay $12 for parking even after validation BUT this review is for the restaurant and the food. They greet you at the bar and seat you, everyone is super friendly and very informative about the food and drinks they offer. Our table ordered the short rib, the lobster ravioli, spicy chicken sandwich and chicken & waffles. All was absolutely delicious! The sever (sadly, I can't remember her name) was super super nice. She chatted with us and the baby which made us all feel at home. Can't wait to visit again BUT I won't drive there. A $4 Uber is more affordable than the parking lot. read more

Thought the food would be great. The Fantasyland Carbonara was good. Had to send the Poke Salad back. It had a strange taste. Which is never good with raw fish! They were accommodating with that. Overall it seemed expensive for what we got. read more

Wow what a restaurant. Tucked away into a hotel right on the edge of Disneyland, this place serves delicious food at reasonable prices. The service was ok, but they were severely understaffed. My boyfriend and I went here because we didn't want to spend tons of money on dinner in downtown Disney. I got chicken and waffles which were amazing. My boyfriend got lobster ravoli which was good but a small portion. We also used the yelp check in for a free dessert. This place is very close to Downtown Disney. I came in with high expectations for fusion Taiwanese food. It turns out just a menu of Taiwanese and American food. Not much "fusion" to speak of. The food is average. The highlighted Hainan Chicken is not worth trying. The rice is ok. The chicken is tasteless and the sauces provided are nothing special at all. The worst part is that the chicken still has hair on them. To make it presentable, the chicken should be boneless, hairless, and fragrant with herbs. I arrived during happy hour and ordered the brussels sprouts And the chicken tenders from the happy hour menu. The brussels sprouts were so good I ordered another serving. The chicken tenders were ok. Keep in mind the restaurant is located within the hotel, so parking is limited, even though they have designated parking for the place it's only a few spaces. Since it's close to Disney Land the prices are reasonable for the area. 4 stars are because of the parking. read more

Frank (Francisco) is what every restaurant needs. He is personable and professional. The last 3 visits he has made us feel welcome and important. Food: French dip, meat tender and au jus has just the right amount of flavor. Brussel sprouts are perfect. Sister had the fish and chips and says they're amazing. Also on the table was the Mac and cheese. SO YUMMY. Drinks, including water were never empty. What Frank is doing in this Hotel restaurant and bar should be an example to what should be done everywhere. Perfect experience. read more

Affordable prices, dog friendly, close to freeways and near Disney. We made a reservation for outside seating for us and our dog on a Fri via yelp. Reservation didn't seem necessary but when we arrived we realized the outside seating was closed at night. They still allowed is to sit inside with our dog which was nice. Food and service was great. After landing in California and making my way to Anaheim CA, my friend and I decided to grab lunch at Tru Grits. It's an interesting location that's kind of a fusion between Asian and Southern Comfort food. I ordered their Mac and Cheese hoping it would be served in a cast iron skillet like the photos in yelp but it was served on a white plate. Either way it was enjoyable. I topped off my lunch with a creme brulee which was really good and I am a huge creme brulee critic. The service was friendly and if in town ever again, I'd definitely make a second visit and check out some other items on the menu. read more

Please don't laugh at me, but this was by far the best meal we had at Disney. We had the fish and chips, lobster ravioli, a sandwich, and the fried cauliflower. The place it self has a great feeling, the lighting is just right and seemed like the perfect place to have a great time. 3for the prices. Some meals on the menu are priced right for the portion, but most of their "specialties" are way over priced for a not so tasty or memorable meal. If you stick to the basics like burgers and fries, you will not be disappointed. 2 for drinks .......seriously not impressed at all. Tried the Hainan Chicken and the texture is how it really should be, recommend you skip the dipping sauces for your first bite to taste the real flavor of it. Taiwanese minced pork rice is a must-have if you're a real fan of this dish, sort of bring out my sweet childhood memory. Also had the Tycoon beef short rib thou it's a little bit too rich for lunch cuz I just couldn't resist it. The savory aroma and tenderness of the beef is worth the visit. Dining area is bright and clean, the waiter is friendly too. I personally rate it a 4.5 if not 5, for I haven't got a chance to try them all out yet. Definitely will revisit Tru Grits soon. I liked this place a lot. I chose it because it was close to our hotel near great wolf lodge and Disneyland, but it was not a chain restaurant. The reviews were all positive, so we gave it a shot. Food was really good, getting a seat was easy, not too crowded. They nicely substituted a dessert that we received on yelp for checking in with another. The mix of food was ideal for our family of five with three picky kids. The kids menu had more than enough selection.
