Bit of a rip off. Food is pretty good but for 5 small tacos, chips/salsa, a side of rice and beans and two glasses of wine... there is no reason for the bill to be 75 dollars. Hostess was really not that friendly and though we liked our waiter...the menu said 4.50 per taco and he charges us 7.00 a piece stating that these tacos were 'special' This place is touted as a family restaurant....it isn't. Had a very disappointing birthday dinner for a friend. Food was fresh, tasty, but small portions for price. Margarita was delicious. The restaurant was Incredibly noisy; could not carry on a conversation at a table of 5. The only things that happened quickly were plates being cleared BEFORE I put my fork down, and the check being presented. We had 1 st round of drinks finished and appetizers eaten before I had to request that the server return to take our orders for entrees. There are restaurants with MUCH better service in the area. I was really looking forward to finally locating a perfect margarita for my friends birthday. I found it, but I won't be back for more. It just isn't worth it. read more

What a MAJOR disappointment! As mentioned by previous reviewers, the acoustics hampered conversation greatly. But, putting that aside, we came here for authentic Mexican cuisine and left wanting. Pricey, but it's Bedford, so no surprises. On our one visit, we had the Santa Fe Enchilada and a brisket taco special. Both were excellent. The real sticker shock on the bill was for the two margaritas my wife had. I think they were $15 ea. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that Ive never written a restaurant review before. I never felt strongly enough about any single dining experience to spend the time writing a review. My experience at TRUCK changed that. This was easily my worst dining experience ever. Its too late for me to get my money back and those 3 hours of my life are gone but at least I can share my experience in the hopes that it may save someone their time and money. This place is a tin can. As soon as my wife and I walked thru the door the noise level was thru the roof. Our party was running a little late so the hostess asked that we stand at the "bar" until the rest of our party was there. I think the "bar" had 4 chairs and an extremely limited selection of drinks. My wife asked if they had any flavored vodkas, no, sorry. She finally settled on a watermelon margarita that was tiny and cost 13.00. I just played it safe and went with a beer. The bartender Fred was very nice but I could barely hear him over the cacophony around me. I probably missed more than 50% of what he said even though he was standing 2-3 feet from me. After the first beer I decided to try the sangria. Mistake. It was so sweet as to induce nausea. I asked Fred to pour half of it out and dilute it with Seltzer. This being a bar I assumed that they would have seltzer on tap and he would just top it off. Mistake #2. He opened some brand of sparkling water that Id never seen before and the price for my awful sangria went up. The stage was set for an awful night of dining. After the rest of our party arrived, the hostess seated us in a corner of the restaurant at a round table for 8. Our waitress Liz C was around to greet us a few minutes later. I understand that waitstaff work hard and its not a glamours job but I also believe that they should be presentable. They should not look as though they just stepped off the stair master at the local gym and stumbled into work. It appeared to me that Liz just came from the gym. Her appearance aside, she took the drink orders and returned with them a few minutes later. Soon after the arrival of the drinks the salsa and chips arrived. We were a party of 8 hungry adults. We were presented with salsa and chips for maybe 3 hungry adults. This is a real pet peeve of mine. As a member of the waitstaff, please judge the size of the dining party and adjust. Don't make the diners feel as though they shouldn't reach for another chip because Mary on the other side of the table hasn't had any. Just serve enough so everyone can munch on them freely. Aside from the fact that there were not enough chips, they were WAY too salty. After surveying the paltry amount of chips we were given, one of the ladies in our group ordered quesidillas. When it arrived, there were 3 tiny quesadillas. When the waitress saw that there were eight of us, shouldn't she have informed us that the quesadilla only came with 3 little pieces? I guess she was tired having just come from the gym. After the tiny appetizer arrived, our server Liz C, departed...for a LONG time. To give you a sense of how long, I arrived at the restaurant at 710pm. We didn't actually order our food until 830 and it didn't arrive at the table until 915-920. By the time Liz C decided to come around and take our order, it was clear to me the kind of restaurant TRUCK is. Its one of those places that is really trying to be "cool" and "hip" and a "hotspot" but the food is secondary. Its the kind of place that you don't go to when you're hungry because you will leave hungry. Its the kind of place the trumpets the fact that they buy all their food supplies from local farms while neglecting to actually serve good filling food. Even though TRUCK is a Tex-mex/mexican food joint, I chose the Truck Burger. While standing at the "bar", I'd seen the tiny tacos and knew they weren't going to cut it. Liz didn't take the orders from the ladies first, just made her way around the table. When she came to me, I ordered the burger and asked for cheddar cheese. She gave me a little condescending smile, sorry, no cheddar cheese. At this point I just wanted to eat. Fine, no cheddar. An hour later when the food arrived it was as disappointing as the rest of the dining experience. In my view, restaurants should make diners feel welcome, give them a warm environment to spend time with family and friends and enjoy some good food. TRUCK does none of these things. That being said, if you like to yell during your meals, not be able to hear anyone you're with, wait 2 hours for utterly forgettable food, leave feeling as though you really haven't eaten and be able to tell all your friends that you went to TRUCK and ate locally grown food and for some reason they should care, then this is the place for you. Ill be down the street at the place that serves a good burger with Cheddar cheese. After 3 hours, I was happy to pay the check just to get out the door. I came into this reasteraunt with very high expectations, but they were imediantly killed when I got my main corse. I had the jerk chicken tacos with pepper jack cheese. The melted cheese looked like it was nacho chess from a movie theater, and it took up 70 percent. The first bite I took I bit into a bad peice of chicken witch almost made me sick. The one thing I thought would make this meal slightly better was the dessert, it did not. it took us 25 miniutes to get a waiter at our table despite asking for one TWICE, he did not arive for at least 20 minites after we requested him. The snoball cake was to say the least the worst cake I had ever eaten. There was almost no frosting and just shreded coconut. They should have called it "bread and coconut" On top of the food the service was awful. As I said before we had to wait 25 minites for a waiter, and another 25 to order. The layout of the place was just awful too. we were so close to the 3 tables around us, I felt like I was at a bennihana. Also, the place is so crounded, prepare to here a crying baby throught your night. I would NEVER recommend going to truck and I wish there was a lower rating that 1 star. read more

Tonight we had our second bad experience at Truck. The food is enjoyable, which is really a shame because the service is awful. The servers are cheerful but clearly the management has failed to instill an ethic of service. The wait is long, despite reservations. Tonight we waited in vain for our order while patrons around us were served who had arrived and ordered after us . Our server eventually arrived to let us know our food would be out soon and asked if we wanted another drink. We continued to wait and wait, and finally one of our party complained. A manager arrived to apologize and said our food was delayed because of "the rush." When we pointed out, somewhat upset (we were very hungry!), that that was clearly not true as others had been seated after us and served before us, she became huffy and chastised my husband for raising his voice. A restaurant which values its customers would have instead brought out a free order of chips or offered a free drink. After this interaction our server was no longer cheerful. We will not make the mistake of going back a third time. read more

This is a great spot.. Excellent casual atmosphere with a real deal fresh farm to table spin on classic mexican fare. Never had a fried oyster taco until I tried one here and now always include(at least) one in the order. Oysters are delivered fresh by the boat captain right to the restaurant. The macho taco 3 choice taco entree is really terrific. Ask for for the truck salad with chicken and the lime dressing as its spectacular. If you are a margarita fan their house pour is perfect but you can take it up a notch with some premium selections if inclined. I've never had a bad meal or poor service here. Given the premium the restaurant must pay for the fresh ingredients I thought the pricing was extremely fair. Note that these taco shells are like none you have likely had before as a special taco cooking machine was brought in to make their own in their kitchen. This alone tells you the commitment to quality and desire to "deliver the goods".. The menu has steadily expanded since launch and offers some new items worth exploring. I went on a Tuesday night. Had reservations for three people at 7:30pm. The other two in the party arrived at 6:30pm to sit at the bar and catch up. I arrived at 7:15. When I got there a member of my party went up to tell the hostess that we were all here and she just said thank you. She noted we were sitting at the bar to get us there. The bar was packed and under staffed. The bartender was busy tending to the service bar and paid no attention to us, or anyone sitting at the bar. Finally had to shout a few "excuse me...can we get drinks" to get his attention. 7:45 still nothing...8:00 nothing, and we noticed people whom walked in after us sitting...interesting. We went back to hostess whom apologized, pointed to a table and said they are just finishing up then our table will be ready. We go back to the bar and fight to get the bartenders attention to get more drinks. The table gets up and nothing...another table gets up they remove one of the two tops and move it to the other table we thought was ours and sits a party of 8, saying nothing to us. Its now 8:30, 1 hour after our reservation we approach the hostess AGAIN (cause at no point in this hour has any of the staff come over to us to apologize or give us an update). She says sorry again and points to a table that is opened, we get up a follow. The table is a two top, literally small two top table that even two people would have troubling sitting at. AND it is set up in a corner up against a wall, we are a party of three...REALLY??? The third person is basically starring at a wall!?!?! We say no..she points to another table that just paid and promises to get it set right away. 8:45pm (one hour and fifteen minutes after our reservation) we sit. I am assuming you think they offered us free chips/guac...maybe a round of drinks...NOPE! I must say the waitress was super attentive and nice we ordered and food came out pretty quickly. In the middle of our meal we asked for the check as at this point we needed to get out of there. She says sure, then comes back and says the manager wants to buy us desert. I said well we don't really want dessert, we had been there for a while and wanted to leave...so you think she would then comp the chips/guac or again the a drink or two...NOPE! Food was good, and the staff that did talk to us was friendly. However very unorganized restaurant and paid no attention to anyone waiting. I would never eat at this restaurant again if it were the last place on earth. The owner, Nancy Roper is horrendously rude and doesn't care for her loyal patrons, the food is average and prices high for the portions. The background to my claims are v well substantiated... This restaurant has been my local "go to" since buying a home in Bedford four years ago with my husband. We have visited at least once a week for lunch and dinner in this period and although the food has always been fairly average and the prices high for the portions, we always enjoyed our meals thanks to the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. There were always children at the restaurant earlier in the evenings and they were usually quite loud but it never really worried us given its a local destination and one should usually expect that. In fact my husband and I envisioned having dinner with our little one here when she was born. Well that time has come (our daughter is now 13 months) and I can honestly say this is sadly NOT a child friendly restaurant. This evening my husband and I arrived at Truck for an early dinner with our daughter. It was 4.45pm and there were three tables of guests. We had ordered appetizers and drinks when suddenly my daughter started crying. It wasn't hysterical simply sobbing for something however as quickly as we could try to take her out of the high chair the owner came storming out of the kitchen and starting yelling abuse at us to keep our child quiet or leave the restaurant. I have never been so embarrassed before. In fact the two other tables who both had elder children were both gobsmacked and horrified at her aggressive and rude nature. Even her staff were running around apologizing having recognized us at regular customers and were hugely embarrassed by their leaders attitude. My husband very generously paid for everything despite us not even having consumed a mouthful of our drink and left. I have never been spoken to in such a demeaning manner and all for supporting a local business owner who provides a pretty average product. This restaurant doesn't care for its patrons only for its purse strings and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone visiting this place or giving another dime of their hard earned money to Ms Roper. She certainly won't appreciate it and if you're one of the unlucky ones she'll also publicly embarrass you too. We have taken our daughter to three star Michelin restaurants before and never had an issue but this local shed's owner Is simply an embarrassment. If you're set on having a casual meal in Bedford then id recommend Ristorante Lucia where the staff are genuinely helpful or popping along to Armonk to a Mexican called Mariachi where the food is great and comes without abuse. read more

The food is excellent but the only problem I have with this place is if they have a large group coming in the service suffers, for some reason they just can't handle large groups. I went there on Yom Kippur, the kids must have been out of school that day because I went for lunch and there was a group of about 10 girls and 4 adults and the restaurant must have struggled with the service because they just left when I arrived and the staff was frazzled, they also had another large group seated it must have been about 10 people I don't know if they require reservations or they just let them show up whenever they like, but I can tell you the service is usually very good but NOT that day. I had ordered my food from 2 waitresses because my waitress took my order for appetizers but forgot about taking my lunch order I also had to wait longer for my drink, I guess she forgot I had this waitress before and she is usually very good. Bottom line, the best time to come here is off peak times, when the kids are in school and it's not a holiday. read more

I was super excited to try this place out! First off, our waitress was super friendly and tentative; she gets five stars! We came in for lunch shortly after they opened, so there wasn't much going on. We started with the guacamole, which came fairly quickly, however, I found it a bit bland. The cilantro was hidden, and we didn't find it until we were almost done eating it! Our lunch did take a little while to come out, not sure why, since there weren't many tables. Didn't really bother me, though, since I like to take my when I go out to eat. I ordered the hamburger medium rare. Was definitely medium well. On the plus side, you can tell they use quality meat since it still had a good flavor despite it being cooked more than I had asked. I'm not one to order burgers out, but I really liked the idea of it being served in a tortilla, however, for $17 with the addition of bacon, it really seemed lazily put together. My boyfriend ordered a pulled pork burrito which was delicious! It came with cilantro rice that was definitely lacking in flavor. The all around atmosphere of the joint is enough to make me give this place another go, however, I would like to see a little more consistency with the product they put out! read more

If you didn't already know where Truck is located you would have driven right past it. Except for the small blue sign, this place looks like any residential house on the road. We were early so there weren't any cars parked to indicate it was anything but a house. We were pleasantly surprised. Simple tables and chairs. Nothing fancy. We had a very pleasant young man as our server. He gave some recommendations and could not have been nicer. At first the menu seems like any other Mexican restaurant. Upon further scrutiny we found that there were some very different items from which to choose. So far so good. We ordered the Chorizo with Mozzarella. Okay so how many Southwestern/Mexican restaurants serve mozzarella? I don't think many....but they should . This was delicious. It was a crock of gooey melted cheese with crumbled chorizo sausage meat. All hot and bubbly. It came with a dish of cool, crisp,spicy veggie relish. Together it was a delicious combination. We also opted for a Fried Oyster taco.($8.50 for one small taco) Also something I have never seen in this type restaurant. The oysters were hot and crispy while still being plump and juicy, bursting with flavor. All wrapped up in a soft taco with fresh chopped salad greens and tomatoes. We topped it with some of their very good guacamole.It was delicious. Next came a Stacked Enchilada with a delicious stuffing of tender chunks of pork accompanied by a smokey pepper sauce. Came with a lovely cilantro rice and moist black beans. A perfect dish. Chicken Quesadilla was also very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The portions are not very large so it is easy to clean your plate. My friend who has a bigger appetite thought the portions could have been a little larger, especially for the prices they charge. . They are a little expensive. We shared a piece of very good Coconut cake. We shared the small portion of Guacamole and the taco , had two entrees, shared dessert and we did not have drinks . The bill with tip was close to $100. We though that was a pretty hefty tab. I gave 4 points because the food is so very good. They lost a point because of the prices. read more

Cool rustic open barn like environment. The only reason for two stars. Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated and I had a reservation. Parking is limited if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. Otherwise you have to park across route 22 to the other side. Mind you no over head lights or traffic light. Good luck not getting run over by traffic. The service was very slow and not very friendly. The so called raspberry margarita tasted like sugary kool aide on overdrive and was clearly made from packaged processes ingredients. Not "freshly" made as was touted. And it took over 15 minutes just for the drink. The food was ok. Had beef tacos. Basically food tasted like it was prepped day before. I was not at all impressed, especially since I have heard people rave about it. Quite frankly, if you are looking for farm fresh Mexican cuisine, might I suggest Bodega in Darien, Ole mole in Stamford or any one of the Bar Tacos.
