True Asian was recommended to me by a friend and I pass it all the time so I've stopped by a couple times to try out their food. I think my expectations were too high the first time, and as someone who grew up in the Bay Area in California, I really should have not expected true authentic Asian food. The first time, I ordered the lunch special orange chicken, lunch special the bbq short ribs with wings and a Miami Roll. Right off the bat, it's a great deal as the lunch specials come with your choice of entree, egg fried rice, two crab rangoons, a pork egg roll, choice of soup, some wonton strips and your basic fortune cookie and condiments all for around $12.99 or more depending on the entree. My boyfriend loved the orange chicken, it's a lot saucier than I expected and definitely better quality than Panda Express (no hate to them). On the other hand, the bbq ribs were very dry and extremely hard to eat, but the sauce in them was nice. The chicken wings were also dry and the portions for that lunch special weren't great so I wouldn't recommend that. The Miami Roll was an absolute waste of money. The fish did not taste fresh and the sushi rice was hard and way undercooked. I will definitely steer away from the sushi from now on. Since they have a pretty large menu and the service was good, I decided to give them another try. For my second visit, I got the lunch special pork lo mein. The roast pork was delicious and the noodles were soft and chewy. Now this is a dish I would come back for if I was craving some takeout. Overall, it's a nice place I'd pick up from out of convenience and for a decent meal with good portion sizes. I'd say from experience and just reading other Yelp reviews, depending on what you order it can be a hit or miss. I think this place is great. the interior is very charming and cute. They have a beautiful art piece of Asia on the wall and other cool pieces from various Anime's. The Orange Chicken is to die for, it has a delicious orange flavor that I haven't tasted in any other Orange Chicken before! They are very friendly here, and everything- especially the sushi seems to be made from scratch, so it's an easy experience worth while! read more

So I met Leo approximately a year ago at Aldi and through seeing him occasionally I found out he had a resturant. Great thing is it's a family affair with his wife and daughter who have had this location for I believe 13 plus years. Being a mom and pop they do it all which gives a nice family feel. He has been a sushi chef etc for over 21 years and they have a very extensive menu of Chinese cuisine along with their sushi. Been here in orlando since 2017 and it was my first experience at his establishment. Place is clean well decorated not very large BUT I love they have indoor dinning unlike a few other places only do take out since Covid :/. They have a happy hour menu which is very good and well priced 7 days a week. recommend show up early or just know there will be a wait for a tables. Leo and the family thanks for a great experience, great food, and great service. My wife and I will definitely see you again. "True Asian, can I help you?" Be prepared to be greeted with this phrase when you call to order from this consistently delicious restaurant. I say call to order from because so far as I know their dining room has yet to reopen so all of my interactions have been for pick-up/delivery but regardless which we opt for we've always had great experiences with food, quality, service, and accuracy that comes from ordering direct from True Asian. When it comes to dinner time we've tried a variety of their dishes and have enjoyed everything we've been able to try. Among my favs are their Kung Bo Tofu, Green Coconut Curry with tofu and their Broccoli in Garlic Sauce, also shout-out to their egg drop soup which I always ask for an extra bag of dry noodles to go with. Their delivery time is almost always over-quoted meaning our meal arrives before we expect it and their drivers have always been friendly. Bonus points as their delivery fees are cheap by comparison. True Asian has become a standard in our house when we're not in the mood to cook or go out for dinner. They're delivery option and consistency make them the easy choice when we need a lazy night in. read more

It's been years since we dined in for lunch. I had forgotten what a great deal their lunch specials are. (They are even served on the weekends) One of my sons is vegetarian and on top of it he is picky about what vegetables he will eat. So I asked if he could have only broccoli instead of mixed vegetables and if he could have a small salad in place of the crab Rangoon and egg roll which they where more than willing to accommodate they even offered a vegetable spring roll in its place but he prefers salad. The lunch portions are huge for the price and all it's comes with. Every Chinese lunch comes with soup of your choice (egg drop, wonton or hot and sour). It also has two crab Rangoon, an egg roll and egg fried rice. My mom ordered sushi pick two which was two rolls of her choice with soup and salad. I had their Thai basil chicken it's one of my favorite dishes they make. While they where closed for Covid they did some major cleaning and painting. The paintings are phenomenal. This is our go to sushi spot! There's always a fresh selection, and my daughter just loves their avocado sushi with crushed peanuts on top. Recently they made a BLT roll and it is unlike any other sushi I've tried. This is the second time I have had an issue with this restaurant. They are never very nice but the food is good. Unfortunately, their attitude is poor and they act like they are doing you a favor by selling you their food. Today, they put two items together, one of which I told them my wife is allergic to. Their response was, "you should have told us to separate them." Isn't it enough to know that they need to be separated if you know she is allergic. I got the same message from both the person at the front register and a guy working at a table. They may be the owners but they definitely need to learn to treat people. You are lucky to have business. One less customer! Also, there are other reviews about your attitude. Maybe it is time to take note. read more

Gosh! I love a good lunch special. Unlike most restaurants, Tao Asian offers lunch specials even on the weekends. Also, they have $3.50 sushi happy hour everyday from 4 to 7pm. I ate so much food for $8. I ordered shrimps with vegetables, served with krab rangoon, pork fried rice, egg roll and soup. I really liked the rice. The owner is extra fussy. She was always making sure our drinks were refilled, and she was constantly wiping down the other tables. Friendly staff, super clean establishment and awesome deals...4 stars! read more

Super tiny place, but clean and their dining furniture is super cute! I'm really liking the white banquettes and dining chairs. This place offers Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food. I came during lunch, so the only seating available was at the bar. Like many chinese restaurants, they have a good lunch menu, which includes Japanese and Thai dishes as well. All reasonable prices. I decided to get the half Peking Duck House Special since the description sounded enticing: you got me at crispy skin! It is really hard to find good Peking Duck, but this place exceeded my expectations! It tasted as they described on the menu, and the skin was crispy and delicious! It was also not greasy, and no bones (except the drum stick part). The half duck includes plenty of tender meat already cut in pieces and easy to eat. Includes a side of rice and tortillas. I thought it was a lil odd that it came with a side of tortillas instead of your typical steamed bun, but I'm not complaining. One of the best Peking Duck I've had! The service was a bit slow. Tao Asian... It's my go to place for sushi on this side of town. I don't often order off the sushi menu. They have a happy hour as described in other reviews, but it is also the busiest during those times. They also have a lunch special, which is pretty reasonable. FOOD (4/5): I like the sushi. After the disastrous results of dining at other restaurants, I know I can count on good food. The rolls are a bit smaller, unless you're ordering a more expensive roll. Makes sense. If you pay less, you get less. Their miso soup is pretty standard. My husband ordered Pad Thai from here, and I wouldn't necessarily order it myself. He enjoyed it. SERVICE (4/5): It honestly depends on who you get. I think the owner is one of the servers, and she is a riot. Mind you, she doesn't exactly censor herself, but if you want a quiet meal, she usually picks up on that. My friends and I enjoyed joking with her. ATMOSPHERE (4/5): It is a bit small with about six or seven booths, a few tables, and seating at the sushi bar. There's a TV mounted on the wall. One thing they've added is a sort of fencing to the front against the glass. I'm not sure if that's to prevent kids from leaving fingerprints, but it really detracts from an otherwise pleasing atmosphere. I'd definitely give this place a try if you're new to the area. My friends and I will avoid this place in the future. We ordered delivery and were disappointed by food that was around the level of food court food. Even worse. The chicken was dry and old and the curry was like a watery soup. I don't have crazy standards but this was NOT good. Even the one thing that should always be good, the fortune cookie, was stale. The worst part is that the price was over $40 for two people for which I could've gotten a nice meal at a good restaurant. This neighborhood Asian restaurant has a menu larger than their storefront! There are an incredible number of pages of Chinese, Japanese and other Asian foods. We had mostly sushi, which was all good. The sashimi dishes are particularly creative. The Pad Thai was also very good. Hot and sour soup was a standout and the spring rolls were good, too. They do a busy Chinese takeout business, but it's also a pleasant place to eat in. Service was pleasant and efficient. I can't imagine how their kitchen can turn out so many different things. Our favorite local spot! We used to go pretty often for happy hour but now that that isn't an option we've shifted to their great lunch specials. The best part is their pick up window! They've installed a window next to their regular door so you don't have to go inside and the only contact is when you put your credit card in the reader. You do have to sign the receipt and they have a pen available but I bring my own for extra safety. Love how they've adapted and it's the safest feeling takeout I've gotten recently. After coming here a few times (3) my reviews have averaged out, and I'd say this place is ok. Service is excellent; sushi is fresh. However, the pricing is a mess, and the menu needs to be more specific. My biggest struggle with this place is its pricing. It is a little on the expensive side and their use of "chef's choice" in their sushi plates to package in value fish with premium fish to save them money is a little too evident and a lousy managing decision. Their lunch specials are low priced, but the offerings are odd and not necessarily what you would want a deal on ordering. Don't recommend for lunch. Note: Managment does not make exceptions without significant up charges that don't fit the substitution. If you have a voice in deciding to go to another sushi place, do it. If this is your only nearby option, I can guarantee you will be served fresh food, but at a higher cost. Fix your menu and be transparent with your pricing without gouging. read more

Over the past year, we have eaten at this restaurant regularly. The waitresses have been extremely friendly, the food has been a great quality, but the owner is the most unfriendly person I think I have ever come across. After repeated visits, we cannot get her to smile, acknowledge us, or be welcoming at any cost. I'm strongly thinking of not returning here only because I don't feel that my business means that much to the owner- who works the front door, nor her husband who stands glaring at people behind the sushi counter. I wish they would do better with their customer service and could match the quality of the service with the quality of their food and cleanliness. Overall, this place is a let down. read more

Tao Asian is a great place to go for sushi. We went for happy hour of 4 - 7 where they have a great price for sushi rolls. We arrived and they were a little busy so we waited for about five minutes. We were sat with a menu and sheet for sushi. Don't bother with the menu, just go with the sushi if you are there during happy hour. We started with hot tea. The tea is brewed in the back. This is a great bonus as you tea bag does not stay in the pot and turn your tea bitter. We ordered three rolls. The volcano roll is one of my favorites. It has a great crab topping. It is a messy roll to eat, but well worth it. Our second roll was a Philadelphia roll. I am not a fan of cream cheese, but my wife is so this was all hers. She said the cream cheese was a little overpowering. The last roll was a Tempura roll. The tempura was very light which allowed for the great taste of the roll to come through. The only reason to not give a five star rating is that the service is a little slow. It seems they need one more server, but I don't think they stay busy so they are merely trying to get by during the happy hour. Went here today and had a simple, fantastic time. Got to Tao Asian at about 6pm and, while it wasn't crowded, the restaurant is VERY small. Like, 5 booths, 4 tables, and a bar to order at small. They have a special from 4-7pm for $3.50/roll of sushi. There's a paper to mark off how many of whichever rolls you would like, so don't fret that you'll eye one on the menu and be disappointed it's not in on the happy hour. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 dynamite rolls, a spider roll, a Ft Myers roll, a French roll, and a Spicy Tuna roll. (From left to right in my photo) Now the piece of paper you use to order says "4 to 6 pieces per roll" so we ordered 3 rolls each thinking the portions would be small. NOPE. We got between 6-8 pieces per roll, so I don't know if that's the norm or what was happening, but they were big rolls originally priced at ~$8 so I definitely left feeling I got the bang for our buck. Going out for sushi and getting actually full for $22? Not bad. The dynamite roll was our favorite. The service was minimal, but definitely well intentioned. When we came in, there was only one booth available and the hostess asked if we would sit at a table in case a big party came in, and when we said yes, she was surprised/excited? This is the 2nd attempt for us to order from this place. We were excited to try a new place and we used the direct mail menu and website to determine what we wanted to order. After speaking to two different people over the phone, neither one could identify the house specialty that I was referring to from the top of their menu. I was asked to read the phone number and address off of the menu I was reading off of to the restaurant. Then when I referred to their website which also had the menu item listed, they told me "we have not used the website in a long time". Needless to say, why send a direct mail piece with "house specialties" and a link to a website that doesn't exist if it does not reflect your restaurant's offering? It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's not the worst, either. Went for the happy hour sushi. The amount of rolls they had on their happy hour menu was a pretty decent selection. I decided to try the dynamite roll, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a California roll. All were pretty decent, but my dynamite roll was absolutely swimming in sauce and you couldn't taste anything else in it. My biggest thing is the rice was super gummy and mushy in the rolls. It made them have a pretty off putting texture... Flavor wise they weren't bad though. Also, be aware their happy hour rolls are pretty small - a lot smaller if you were to just order them off the menu. Overall, I'd go back. I definitely want to try some of their other entrees - those eating them around us looked (and smelled) delicious! read more
