DON'T ORDER CAKE HERE, THEY MAY SCAM YOU. I ordered a cake for my boyfriend because it was described to have white chocolate and raspberry in it, but both of these were missing and the cake was not at all as described. When I told the owner I was unhappy with it and wanted a refund, they changed their website description instead, and have denied to give me a refund. They wouldn't even have the decency to offer an explanation of why the cake was missing half of the proclaimed ingredients, even after weeks of asking them via email and phone attempts. Hits the spot but wouldn't be my first choice. It's a no frills joint with some tables and a variety of cake options you can purchase by the slice (and I'm assuming whole if desired). Cake slices are approximately 10$ each give or take. I opted for the Strawberry Shortcake. The cake was a bit crumbly and a little dry imo. There was no other patron at the counter, just us, and we were just standing around not knowing where to go or who to talk to. Diplomat Cake: sponge cake not moist at all. Not enough puff pastry. Vanilla buttercream was harder than should be and not as good as a bakery should make it. Devil's Food Cake: sponge cake not moist. The marshmallow frosting was so thin. Chocolate filling wasn't that great. I can see this hitting late night snackers well to just have something sweet, but I wouldn't buy cake from here to take to someone's house as a gift. True Confection or True Disconnection? As I recalled from memory lane, this used to be bumping and the place to be for good desserts and drinks, both locations were packed and lineups. Honestly, I even had one of my businesses sell some of the desserts back in the days. What happened?!? Fast forward it to nowadays, the service at the West Broadway location was horrible and the Denman location, extremely slow and barely passable when there was only 3 tables of customers. Plus some drinks were out or too late to make it when it's an hour before closing?? Anyways, here were the food that I was able to order; 1. Mixed berry cheesecake. It was okay, I remember it was better? And a bit bigger with the portion or am I wrong? 2. Chocolate caramel pecan pie. A little bit doughy on the under crust. 3. Orange soda. All the other drinks weren't available besides a soda, tea or water. Overall, I visited both locations and the services just weren't like before. The atmosphere was similar to wandering around an abandoned mall and the food just not it when compared to similar bakeries nearby. I guess just like many thriving businesses, got too comfortable with its success and didn't put in the effort to catch-up with time until it's too late. I've been eating at and ordering from the Denman location since early 2000's. I often treat out-of-town guests to whole cakes with funny messages on top. The cheesecakes used to be dense, thick and delicious. In the past year (2021-2022) the quality has drastically deteriorated and the price has skyrocketed. The banana cream pie has almost no flavour these days. The cakes are dry and the cheesecakes are too wet or too dry. I understand the prices going up, but not the quality going down. I ordered a cake for my son's birthday. I paid $75 for a monster cake and it was completely inedible. The outside looked cute but the inside was gross. We actually ended up throwing it away. Even my six-year-old niece who loves anything sweet couldn't eat it. When I first heard about True Confections through the grapevine, I was really looking forward to a visit to this infamous dessert place that has lines out the door. Unfortunately, once I tried their desserts, I was quite disappointed. Their cakes are extremely rich and some are a bit dry. Their strawberry shortcake is practically grainy but the strawberry sauce is on point. However, the cake should be the star; not the sauce that comes with it. True Confections also offers pies which aren't much to talk about either. Their banana cream pie has is not proportional and offers way too much whipped cream instead of custard along with bananas that are a bit too mushy. However, this bakery does offer a great chocolate pecan pie which is quite a rare delicacy and if you're into pies, then this is definitely one that you should order. The prices that they offer may be a bit on the higher side but the portions for their signature cakes are quite large. If you're a major sweet tooth and don't mind overly sweet cakes then the signature cakes at True Confections are for you! read more

So disappointed with True Confections' pumpkin pie. I was so looking forward to trying it and ordered a whole one for my Thanksgiving family dinner. When I got the pie, it did not look like the one advertised at the website which indicates it is decorated with pastry leaves and pumpkin seeds (of which the pie had none). I didn't care too much about looks as the taste is what's important and the kind girl at the bakery told me it was really good (so I believed her). When my family and I tried it it was like no other pumpkin pie we have had before (but not in a positive way): little pumpkin flavour and too much cream in the mix was our verdict. Costco and Safeway pumpkin pies are much superior in look and taste and for a fourth or half the price of True Confections' with a bigger portion. I decided to try True Confections' one as I had tried some of their other pies before and they were pretty good and their staff is really nice, plus didn't need one as big as Costco's; however, I regret my decision as it is, in my opinion, literally the worst pumpkin pie me and my family have ever had.
