The lemon blueberry french toast was phenomenal, and I could happily have just shared that for breakfast. The biscuits and gravy with the mushroom gravy wasn't as much of a win--maybe it really needs that meat gravy but I just wasn't feeling the extra sauciness of all that gravy on the biscuits. Decided to drop in on our way to church this morning and we're so glad we did. Since it was early (8am) there were a few people dining in, but we were immediately greeted by the cheerful and bubbly hostess and able to pick our own table. Our waiter was there taking our drink order within seconds and he was equally as cheerful. Our food orders were taken and we had our food, hot off the griddle, within 10 minutes. Everything was delicious! Although the space isn't very large, it's well lit, extremely clean and the music choice is just right. I'd advise anyone to get there early if possible because after 9am on the weekends, you'll probably have a wait. Regardless of wait time, do yourself a favor and check them out. I had to take a moment to cool off before writing this review. My recent visit to this restaurant was a complete disappointment. It was my first time there, and while the hostess was friendly, things took a nosedive from there. Upon scanning the QR code for the menu at the bar, we waited for about 10 minutes before a waiter, who I later found out was the manager, hurried us to order drinks. When I had a question about the menu, she rudely instructed me to only look at the weekend menu, despite there being two menus available. Trying to order, I was told they were out of the sliced chicken bacon biscuit, which left me puzzled since I was guided to a different menu without this information. So I decided to order the sausage biscuit. Once the food came out the waiter asked if we needed anything else. The experience hit its low point when I asked for grape jam and was told I could only have the jelly that came with a biscuit. In frustration, I requested the bill and decided never to return. I advise others to do the same. This was a first and last visit, and it left me utterly disgusted with the service. read more

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! Out of any restaurant I've ever been to in my life, this "restaurant" takes the cake for having the absolute WORST service ever. We walk in with a group of five, (two of whom are mothers) on Mother's Day, and we could instantly tell these people didn't want us there. They were pretty busy when we walked in, but we are met with a hostess that says "you guys need to wait outside" and mind you it was raining outside. After we're done waiting, my mom asks if there is a booth available since she saw one that was clearly open and clean instead of honoring her request, she says "no it's reserved for another party" (which isn't true because this place doesn't do reservations. Once we sit down at our table, the server comes up to us and kind of just stands next to us awkwardly and says "what do you need". When we get our drinks, my friend tasted his tea and it was disgusting. He ended up telling the server that it was terrible, and the server just gave attitude back to him and slammed his new drink back on the table when it was brought to him. When we go to order our food, I asked a question about a dish and he says "you're asking the wrong person I'm not the chef". Excuse me?!?? Do you not work here?!?!? And on top of that, my friend asked for his pork chop to come separate from his biscuit, since on the menu, they come together, and this asshole says "we don't do that, you're gonna have to order something else". Once he said that, we decided we had enough and we paid for our drinks and got the hell out of there!! And again, this was all on MOTHERS DAY! I can't even tell you how the food is because the service was piss poor. My husband drove 30 minutes because I wanted to try a new place for breakfast. We were told that we couldn't be served because our stroller was blocking the way (we have Evenflo Dual Shyft by the way for size comparisons) for servers. We asked for a table for 3 and the lady responded with "We don't seat and serve past 130pm" and proceeded to watch us just walk out. True Flavors is perfect for any occasion. Date? Yes. Hangover food? Yes. Just need some food that warms the soul? Yes. We initially ordered the shrimp and grits, but after looking over at the table next to us, we saw they had Mac and cheese and had to try it. No matter what you order, I guarantee that you'll look over at the table next to yours. You'll be jealous that you can't try everything that they have on the menu. Meals were fantastic & definitely big enough for two meals - we all had plenty of leftovers! It's a smaller diner, so if going for weekend brunch, expect to have a bit of a wait. I've been following this diner on social media for awhile and tried to check them out a few months ago but they weren't open so I tried again recently on a Friday. The dining room is closed to public so I ordered online and and my order was delivered to my car outside of the restaurant and it was only a short wait. I ordered the farmers hash(potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, eggs) and a side of pancakes. The farmers hash was just ok for me and lack flavor and the pancakes were pretty good, massive and super thick. My husband and I dropped in to try this spot on our way to Wintergreen Resort in Virginia to ski. We arrived a little after 10, keep in mind the dining area is closed, but picked up our order and took it to go. I ordered the mushroom spinach omelet and my husband ordered the Cajun shrimp wrap. Best brunch/breakfast around Durham. I already visited them twice in a week. They make sure that you get an excellent service and food. I tried the chicken&waffles on my first visit and OMG!
