Aside from their classic charred cauliflower, vegan food at True is sadly...pale. I would describe their plant-based fare as old school macro: chewy and bland. All the ingredients are right, but the flavor is missing! My husband and I had reservations for Valentine's Day. I was excited to try the special Valentines pre-fixe menu, since there were vegan options for every course. The edamame guacamole starter was fine - excellent ratio of avocado to chips. The main course, however, was extremely disappointing. The pulses were undercooked, and the seasoning was barely perceptible - the ginger broth on my winter bowl imparted only a hint of ginger flavor without any spicy heat. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be Thai-influenced or Japanese, or?? Some miso would have made a huge difference. The mushrooms were the most disappointing element. They were soggy and utterly void of umami. I know it's a pet peeve, but I hate it when good mushrooms aren't treated properly. The chocolate mousse dessert was also below standard. It was basically chocolate whipped cream with nuts and pomegranate seeds on top. I thought the menu read that we were each supposed to be served a dessert, but we only got one to share. The pink cocktails saved the day, although they arrived after our first course. The bartenders, if over-worked, at least know what they're doing. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the waitstaff. True used to be the place in Cherry Creek that I would eat with omnivores, but next time, I think we'll go for sushi. read more

Okay food but nothing spectacular. I have been here I think 3 times and each time I hope that it is better than the previous, but no luck so far :(. It is just an okay experience, environment, service and food. Unlike other restaurants they seem to have a tougher time with modifications. I left thirsty since my water was never re-filled. Maybe I am allowed only one glass of water, since I did not see anyones's water get refilled? Not sure. Either way very disappointing. So many options to choose from! I was meeting a friend here for the first time. I parked in the garage right next door so it was a quick walk up the stairs to the restaurant :) the bathrooms are currently out of order so they have a little porta potty set up outside on the street. It was pretty clean for a porta potty honestly. The atmosphere in side was loud but happy. A lot of people talking and laughing so it was a nice spot for friends. Make sure you get a reservation though, they got pretty busy towards the middle of our meal and we sat down at 7pm. The menu has a wide range of items! A little something for everyone. They marked if the meal was vegan or vegetarian but there was still plenty of meat options. We got there for their spring 2022 menu :) I got the chicken sausage pizza. It's a personal pizza size (8 slices). I ate half and took the rest home :) it was so good! Hot and fresh! I picked up a wrap to go from here the other day - super easy online ordering - and it was ready in the pickup area (to the left of the door/host stand when you walk in) when I arrived. On to the food - I ordered the grilled chicken avocado wrap with a kale salad on the side. The wrap (house made pita) was filled with lots of chicken, lettuce, avocado, cucumber and hummus. Nice place with ample indoor space and great healthy options on their menu. The location is adorable (specially during the holiday season) being located in Cherry creek. Absolutely loved their food, healthy and fresh seasonal ingredients on the menu. We got Common bond but made in a Hot toddy form and it turned out really good. Tulsi tea was surprisingly good as well. Amazing appetizers, Brussels sprouts had great flavor. Edamame dumplings were my personal favorite, subtle but great flavor again. Butternut squash pizza was so different than the usual pizzas but I'm glad I ordered this one, what a great take on pizza with those fresh ingredients. Lasagna was equally flavorful. Ugh, where to start?? Positive vibes: I liked the open concept. Negative (I'll try to keep it short): had a party of 12 coming off a nearby graduation. Half the group needed to use the restroom just as we arrived. Server seemed put off by this fact and it was a big inconvenience to him. He took partial orders from those of us already seated. When the remainder of our group returned to the table, it was like pulling teeth to get our server back to finish the order (hello, it's an open concept restaurant and we can SEE you standing in the kitchen chatting even after we got your attention). Fast forward to dinner. Food all came out together, great. BUT, the hot food, like meatloaf, a burger and a Thai ramen dish came out ICE cold. The other half had some combination of wraps and cob salads. Personally, I had the 'spicy peanut Thai glass noodle bowl' that was beyond pathetic. I could make a better ramen bomb in my Jet Boil in the backcountry. Lastly, when it was my turn to walk thru the kitchen to get to the bathroom, yikes! Is this how they leave the place?? Cabinets opened for me to zig zag around and staff scurrying thru the area like I'm in a comedy skit trying to evade the hotmess coming my way (not my hotmess, because my ramen bowl was room temp).
