After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager.
