We made a reservation for a Monday night, and although the place was super busy, we were promptly seated upon arrival. Our server came over right away and offered to answer any questions about the menu. We love that there are so many gluten free and vegan options. When drinks arrived, we ordered the charred cauliflower appetizer to share and our entrees. The appetizer came out first was perfectly sized for two, and we really enjoyed the date, tahini, dill and mint flavors. For entrees, I selected the sustainable salmon, and my partner ordered the rainbow trout with quinoa. The portion of salmon was just right, and it was cooked well. I liked the slight acidity of the accompanying pomegranate sauce. My partner enjoyed his trout. Friends joined us for dessert, and we each got something different so we could sample several. My favorite was chocolate pot de creme, which was silky in texture and tasted very rich. I also liked turtle sundae. I couldn't personally try the carrot cake or apple crumble because they're not gluten free, but the others in our party spoke highly of them too. Service was spot on throughout the evening. The pacing of our meal was good, and our server checked on us frequently without being overbearing. The restaurant itself is clean and modern, and there is ample patio seating, some of which has a city view. Very nice as the sun set. We'll be back. read more

There was one hiccup and that was not their fault, the fire alarm went off right as we were being seated, but they all handled it very well. We wanted the brunch tower but it was not available for the soft opening, which was a bummer, but they made up for it with the food. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was so delicious, it had eggs, cheese, avocado, and bison sausage (they told me it was sweet and savory) it was amazing. I really don't prefer sweet sausage but I tried it and it was really good. My mom had the quiche and that was also amazing. It had smoked Gouda, hatch chilies and then topped with pickled jalapeños and I can't remember the greens but so good. There are things I like about true foods, and then there are things that I just cannot get behind which is mainly their pricing. The first time I went, I had a glass noodle bowl which was vegan, I didn't add anything extra to it and it was $18. I had one glass of sparkling rosé and that was $15. The noodles were bland and flavorless unfortunately, and loaded with way too much cilantro. The second time I went I had their burger. It was expensive but better than the noodles. We stopped in for an early lunch and unfortunately ended up disappointed. We ordered the ancient grain salad and a pizza. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was not busy. It seems the quality of and portion size has gone down. The salad was mediocre, not much flavor, portion size quite small and the pizza looked like an appetizer - wow. It took so long to get the check my husband had to go up and ask the manager for it, the server never did come back to our table to see if everything was ok and if we needed anything. The server took our drink order. The drinks did not arrive (15-20 " wait) and we had to ask two people to check into them. By the time they arrived one of the drinks was watery indicating it had probably sat at the bar for a while. The food arrived but the hamburger was cold and we sent it back. We asked for the heat lamp to be turned on (seated outside). The hostess said "the manager" would take care of it. That person never arrived. Eventually we asked the person who delivered the reheated hamburger (maybe that was the manager). The TFK Kale Salad used to be my favorite. They have declined so much since their first opening a year and a half ago. The kale salad used to come with big chunks of avocado croutons, Pepita's and Parmesan.. now just kale leafs and a tiny amount of Parmesan in the dressing! True Food was a True Nightmare! We went in to celebrate my birthday. We made a reservation that we thought was earlier so we checked in early and the hostess said she'd add us to the waiting list while we wait for our reservation. We got a text and returned to the hostess stand. We were told there were 2 groups ahead of us and then we were next. After standing for a while and watching more than 2 groups get seated we asked again. The hostess got snippy and said our reservation isn't until 7:15 and we were texted by accident. I said we understood our reservation was at 7:15 but we were also on the waiting list and that we were told we'd be up after 2 others. At 7:00 the manager took over the hostess stand and we asked him. He said no problem we can seat you now. We were seated at 7:05. (I could see the kitchen clock from my chair) We put in our order which was an easy order of just 3 burgers with fries. Nothing fancy. After an hour of waiting and watching everyone get served their food, eat and leave and more people seated we asked for the manager to ask why. Bryan Borochaner the general manager came over to our table. He made excuses that there was a $3 pizza special and the kitchen was backed up. We told him we didn't even hear about the special but that still didn't make sense why our food wasn't out yet. He said happy birthday and offered a $3 pizza for the trouble. At about 8:10 another group was seated next to us. At 8:23 our food was finally brought to the table by the manager. It was cold with burnt fries and cooked wrong. At 8:31 the people next to us that had just been seated received their food. Hot and fresh and one of them had nice fries that were not burnt. I asked to see the manager again but he never came back by. We got the check from our very slow waiter and waited again. While waiting for him to come back the people 2 tables down received a complimentary scoop of ice cream and cake with a lit candle to celebrate someone's birthday. As we walked out the manger was there. I told him it was disappointing that he didn't notice the burnt fries and cold food he delivered or come back to the table as requested to see the burnt fries. Then I told him that I felt the real kicker was seeing the other table get a birthday dessert with a candle. He laughed then he gave me his card and said "next time you come in give me a call and I'll make sure things go better" then I laughed! Bryan you didn't take care of us your customers when we were there, what makes you think we would come back? We honestly felt the treatment was deliberate! I'm not a person that complains but this was way too much to stay silent. My advice go anywhere else this place isn't worth the ugliness you get served with. We came to True Food Kitchen for the first time. From the moment we were seated to when our food was as served was an hour and forty five minutes. Additionally, we had a few people really interested in the Jambalaya and once the order was placed, minutes later we found out they ran out which was disappointing. If you order the cauliflower appetizer, just know that it is much smaller than it looks. Probably enough for 1-2 people. Our server was fantastic. She was kind and informative. The Panang curry was incredible and overall everyone enjoyed their meal. A bit torn whether or not we will return with the mixed feelings. read more

This was my second visit to True Food, and unfortunately, it left me a bit disappointed. A small group of us ordered takeout as we were staying just a few minutes away. The process went okay, it seemed like they weren't quite used to handling takeout orders. The food didn't quite hit the mark either .. so maybe dining in would have been a better option ? The ambiance was beautiful. Unfortunately, most of the food we received was either cold or not quite what we expected. The Buffalo salad, for instance, looked more like a grocery store bought salad in terms of size and toppings--definitely not enough chicken for the price. The Bougie Blanco pizza was slightly undercooked and tasted just okay. The burgers we ordered were fine, but someone in the kitchen went a little heavy on the seasoning for the Korean fried chicken sandwich and no slaw in sight. I don't think anyone should be biting into whole peppercorns either. I, myself, ordered the Double Plant Based Burger and it was really good. The star of the show. I loved the jalapeño remoulade and the burger patty themselves were both very flavorful... the bun too OMG ..this is what I had before and it was just as good. I would've loved my side salad to have something more to it besides three cucumbers and romaine. The mustardy type dressing they used was delicious. I should've gotten a different side but I didn't want to pay an extra $1 - $4 on top of the $20 burger. Maybe I'd go back again for a third time ? I'm undecided. read more

Marcus was our waiter and he was amazing! Delicious!! Love love love this place & eat there every time I'm at La Encantada. It has lovely outdoor seating (along with indoor) with heaters in case you get chilly. The food is so fresh and their kale tonic is perfection. The owner focuses on an anti-inflammatory food philosophy I believe, with sustainably sourced ingredients, creating a mindful meal. They always have a seasonal menu as well which is nice. I got the wild-caught tuna poke bowl with regenerative black rice, avocado, roasted mushrooms, cucumber, jalapeño, edamame, pickled ginger, and citrus ponzu (410 cal). I love spicy food but if you can't handle jalapeño heat then this is not for you (or just ask for no jalapeños). My mom got the ancient grains bowl which she enjoyed but she mentioned the miso glazed sesame sweet potato was too spicy for her, so again if you don't like spicy, make sure to ask for modifications! I've been to this location probably 12-15 times and have never had anything but a perfect experience. The food is always thoughtfully prepared, fresh and flavorful. Service is attentive. My only gripe is the cost. You'll pay a high price for a "just enough" portion. However if you download the InKind app it is a great way to save money because you often get $25 off - (like if you go here https://app.inkind.com/refer/ZKAYIEV0). We went here for brunch and had a decent visit. Our server was kind and the ambience here is really nice - airy and modern and very clean. We'd made a reservation and had to wait about 20 mins after reservation time to sit down, we weren't in a hurry but something to note for others or in the future. Once we sat down, service was okay. The food we got was hit and miss. The Mac and cheese and kale salad were both delicious and well balanced. The pizza was good, not notable but passable. I was most excited to try the edamame dumplings and these were really disappointing - there was so much truffle oil and cilantro that the flavor came off as chemically and very overpowering. None of us enjoyed them and service was too sporadic to easily address it, so we just paid for these and left in the interest of time and delays. This place just didn't hit the mark for me. I heard it was great but it was nothing to write home about for me. The street corn flatbread was just corn on a tortilla with crema. The meatballs were delicious and had a lil kick to them but the cheese or fondue was a little watery. The accompanying bread was so hard, it was inedible. The street taco, OMG why did you put those chick peas on it?! Reminds me of corn nuts. The colossal cookie and grass fed ice cream was the best part! The cookie was more like cake but together they were delicious. My pineapple spritzer was more like muddled water. Noah our server was great! On a nice day, the bar opens up to the patio and it's a great place to watch a game. I could drive 30 minutes to the Fashion Island location in Orange County, but they don't have Chanel mixing drinks behind the bar. She will take very good care of you, and worth the 7 hour drive from CA. read more

Came here for a late lunch on a Wednesday so it was not too crowded. The space has a peaceful air about it. The Hostess was polite and seated us promptly. We had a look at the menu and decided to order drinks which were priced a little high for the size of the drink. I got the "Crime of Passion" with the tiny flower on top and it was good but small for the price, my friend got the "O.G. Drop" and it had a very light taste and was small for $17. We then ordered bowls, I got the Thai Peanut Noodle Bowl which was delicious and had a subtle kick and a great presentation. My friend got the Ancient Grain Bowl which was very good and the sweet potatoes had a little spice but not overly hot. The outside patio with a view of the mountains is amazing and the interior of the restaurant is so beautiful. I would just like to say, though that the garnish that you dropped in the squash soup is NOT edible L O L. That is not an herb that's meant to be eaten and it was super bitter and weird tasting. I've been to True foods twice now. Let me first start with the positive. A super friendly staff, and a very nice patio that's heated. They even provide blankets if it's a little chilly. Which was welcome for us because we had my standard Poodle. The restaurant is still relatively new and so you have to be a little bit more patient with them. But the food is tasty, and made from scratch with a very good ingredient. My last visit was during New Year's Eve. And the pizza oven wasn't working and a few drinks weren't available. While the staff is in the ark of the possible, they've bend over backwards to try to make it work. I've had the Poké bowl and a fish with pomegranate quinoa. Both were excellent. The portions were reasonably sized, but not gargantuan. And they have a lot of cool healthy drinks.
