First timers at True Food and it did not disappoint!! We did wait awhile because we had heard the lines were long and service was not that great , but not the case at all! Marcus was our waiter and he was amazing! I have eaten at True Food Kitchen in San Diego & Newport Beach, so I was excited to see it here in Tucson I ordered my usual, however the Tucson location gave me a very small portion and the price point absolutely did not meet the serving size! This is definitely not the same portion I am used to getting in California If you have $$ to burn, & want small portion then be my guest, honestly I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.There are other great restaurants in Tucson, like Wildflower and or North! read more

The staff was friendly and accommodating but everything else was disappointing, especially considering the price of our meal. We had a 15 minute wait time (no problem there). The server took our drink order. The drinks did not arrive (15-20 " wait) and we had to ask two people to check into them. By the time they arrived one of the drinks was watery indicating it had probably sat at the bar for a while. The food arrived but the hamburger was cold and we sent it back. We asked for the heat lamp to be turned on (seated outside). The hostess said "the manager" would take care of it. That person never arrived. Eventually we asked the person who delivered the reheated hamburger (maybe that was the manager). She check with the chefs to see how things could be adjusted and even told us there was a recipe book she could look up recipes that suited our restrictions. I had high expectations coming in to this new restaurant located in the high end La Encantada plaza. The food is solid 4/5 but their hosting and seating process is subpar. We had made reservations well in advance but when we arrived they told us our table was not yet available and so we waited for over 15 minutes. We went here for brunch and had a decent visit. Our server was kind and the ambience here is really nice - airy and modern and very clean. We'd made a reservation and had to wait about 20 mins after reservation time to sit down, we weren't in a hurry but something to note for others or in the future. Once we sat down, service was okay. The food we got was hit and miss. The Mac and cheese and kale salad were both delicious and well balanced. The pizza was good, not notable but passable. I was most excited to try the edamame dumplings and these were really disappointing - there was so much truffle oil and cilantro that the flavor came off as chemically and very overpowering. None of us enjoyed them and service was too sporadic to easily address it, so we just paid for these and left in the interest of time and delays. The TFK Kale Salad used to be my favorite. They have declined so much since their first opening a year and a half ago. The kale salad used to come with big chunks of avocado croutons, Pepita's and Parmesan.. now just kale leafs and a tiny amount of Parmesan in the dressing! This is just not acceptable for an almost $20 salad. Our server was a space cadet. We had to remind him three or four times of things we requested, and the GM was completely checked out. This was my second visit to True Food, and unfortunately, it left me a bit disappointed. A small group of us ordered takeout as we were staying just a few minutes away. The process went okay, it seemed like they weren't quite used to handling takeout orders. The food didn't quite hit the mark either .. so maybe dining in would have been a better option ? The ambiance was beautiful. Unfortunately, most of the food we received was either cold or not quite what we expected. The Buffalo salad, for instance, looked more like a grocery store bought salad in terms of size and toppings--definitely not enough chicken for the price. The Bougie Blanco pizza was slightly undercooked and tasted just okay. The burgers we ordered were fine, but someone in the kitchen went a little heavy on the seasoning for the Korean fried chicken sandwich and no slaw in sight. I don't think anyone should be biting into whole peppercorns either. I, myself, ordered the Double Plant Based Burger and it was really good. The star of the show. I loved the jalapeño remoulade and the burger patty themselves were both very flavorful... the bun too OMG ..this is what I had before and it was just as good. I would've loved my side salad to have something more to it besides three cucumbers and romaine. The mustardy type dressing they used was delicious. I should've gotten a different side but I didn't want to pay an extra $1 - $4 on top of the $20 burger. Maybe I'd go back again for a third time ? I'm undecided. read more

To drink I had the sparkling prickly pear tisane, it tasted like club soda, very tart, I didn't taste the prickly pear flavor. We did the Street tacos (beef) and it was good (I personally did not like the crunch of the chickpeas) We also had grilled cheese dippers and tomato soup, the grilled cheese wasn't bad, but the soup lacked flavor and seasoning. We ended with the colossal cookie that came with ice cream and that was not bad. Our server, Noah was phenomenal and Very helpful with the menu. This place just didn't hit the mark for me. I heard it was great but it was nothing to write home about for me. The street corn flatbread was just corn on a tortilla with crema. The meatballs were delicious and had a lil kick to them but the cheese or fondue was a little watery. The accompanying bread was so hard, it was inedible. The street taco, OMG why did you put those chick peas on it?! Reminds me of corn nuts. The colossal cookie and grass fed ice cream was the best part! The cookie was more like cake but together they were delicious. My pineapple spritzer was more like muddled water. Noah our server was great! We'd made a reservation for 5 and we were seated immediately. Came here for a late lunch on a Wednesday so it was not too crowded. The space has a peaceful air about it. The Hostess was polite and seated us promptly. We had a look at the menu and decided to order drinks which were priced a little high for the size of the drink. I got the "Crime of Passion" with the tiny flower on top and it was good but small for the price, my friend got the "O.G. Drop" and it had a very light taste and was small for $17. We then ordered bowls, I got the Thai Peanut Noodle Bowl which was delicious and had a subtle kick and a great presentation. My friend got the Ancient Grain Bowl which was very good and the sweet potatoes had a little spice but not overly hot. Because of the location at La Encantada and the quality of the ingredients, the prices are on the high side for drinks and the food is worth it. read more

Delicious!! Love love love this place & eat there every time I'm at La Encantada. It has lovely outdoor seating (along with indoor) with heaters in case you get chilly. The food is so fresh and their kale tonic is perfection. The owner focuses on an anti-inflammatory food philosophy I believe, with sustainably sourced ingredients, creating a mindful meal. They always have a seasonal menu as well which is nice. I got the wild-caught tuna poke bowl with regenerative black rice, avocado, roasted mushrooms, cucumber, jalapeño, edamame, pickled ginger, and citrus ponzu (410 cal). I love spicy food but if you can't handle jalapeño heat then this is not for you (or just ask for no jalapeños). My mom got the ancient grains bowl which she enjoyed but she mentioned the miso glazed sesame sweet potato was too spicy for her, so again if you don't like spicy, make sure to ask for modifications! I've been to this location probably 12-15 times and have never had anything but a perfect experience. The food is always thoughtfully prepared, fresh and flavorful. Service is attentive. My only gripe is the cost. You'll pay a high price for a "just enough" portion. However if you download the InKind app it is a great way to save money because you often get $25 off - (like if you go here https://app.inkind.com/refer/ZKAYIEV0). The plant burger is absolutely delicious and so filling and rich despite no animal products! My favorite thing, however, is the curry bowl. I get it with tofu and it is incredible.! read more

I've been to True foods twice now. Let me first start with the positive. A super friendly staff, and a very nice patio that's heated. They even provide blankets if it's a little chilly. Which was welcome for us because we had my standard Poodle. The restaurant is still relatively new and so you have to be a little bit more patient with them. But the food is tasty, and made from scratch with a very good ingredient. My last visit was during New Year's Eve. And the pizza oven wasn't working and a few drinks weren't available. While the staff is in the ark of the possible, they've bend over backwards to try to make it work. I've had the Poké bowl and a fish with pomegranate quinoa. Both were excellent. The portions were reasonably sized, but not gargantuan. And they have a lot of cool healthy drinks. Once this place has been up and running for a few more months, I think it's gonna be absolutely outstanding. It's got a wonderful location, great, and healthy made from scratch food. read more

True Food Kitchen has a cute ambiance that was so nice, the lavender matcha latte was incredible and the edamame dumplings were to die for. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was very underwhelming, because it's healthy doesn't mean it has to be bland. My fiancé ordered the breakfast steak burrito and the portion size for a grown man was more like a snack size, but the flavor was good. My brother and his girlfriend ordered the tasting tower and it was worth the price but the best part of it was the pastries. The lemon blueberry muffin was wonderful. We need to come back to try more items to have a better review. The service was good but had to wait for one of the meals for a while and the rest got cold. Our server was very sweet! It seems the quality of and portion size has gone down. The salad was mediocre, not much flavor, portion size quite small and the pizza looked like an appetizer - wow. It took so long to get the check my husband had to go up and ask the manager for it, the server never did come back to our table to see if everything was ok and if we needed anything.
