    Gnocchi with Gorgonzola sayce
    Lori D.

Truffle Bistro is an amazing place for Tapas - aka: appetizers. Everything we have EVER ordered has been delicious and we've tried almost everything on the menu. The only reason we haven't tried everything is that the owner, Henry, changes the menu to keep things fresh and in season. The place is very intimate with a cool vibe. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs work their magic We had Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, Spanish Sausages, Duck Breast in Pomegranate sauce, Lamb Meatballs, and Bacon-Wrapped Dates with Gorgonzola. For dessert we had Tiramisu (amazing!) and a Chocolate Dome over a Chocolate Lava Cake. And if that doesn't make you hungry - I don't know what would! It's a little pricey, but worth every dollar. You won't have anything else like it in Orange County.

This is a quaint place for tapas! Our server was really nice and offered recommendations. That was very helpful because they had an extensive menu and we were having a hard time picking dishes. We finally decided on stuffed mushrooms, red wine braised chorizo, short rib gnocchi, grilled octopus. The mushrooms were nice and savory. It was stuffed with cheese and perfectly seasoned and finished off with a sauce. The chorizo had a rich flavor that was heightened with the red wine braise. The octopus had a beautiful char and was accompanied with roasted potatoes and tomatoes. The latter added a nice freshness to every bite. The gnocchi was nice and tender and the short rib was flavorful. Great shareable meal!

    Chocolate dome dessert was divine!

We had such a great meal, I almost hate to tell others about this place! Truffle Bistro provided a lovely, quiet evening with tapas, great wine, and live music. We loved the artichokes, goat cheese and tomato sauce, and garlic shrimp. Didn't love the charge for extra bread, but overall prices were reasonable and comparable to appetizers at other establishments. Delaney was a gracious server with an excellent eye for best practices and guest preference. I'm looking forward to bringing friends and family to show off this special place in Orange.

I'm really glad I liked this place because I didn't want to face the wrath of the owner, lol. I found the flavors to be superb, however definitely on the salty side (eating this salty might not be for everyone). I don't know if there's a term for it, but our lips were saturated with salt from certain items; I'll star the salty items below. Maybe you can request less sodium if you are looking out for your blood pressure? Pro tip: If you're getting something with sauce, ask for bread when you order so it comes out at the same time as your food Brussel sprouts - not many restaurants get this right but theirs were actually crispy and tasty Meatballs* - although simple, it was excellent; order bread Shrimp al ajillo - we loved the sauce on this one; order bread Oxtail** - this one was mouthwatering good. I'm not sure if I'm supposed drink the broth because it's so salty, but I did (well as much as I could) Duck breast* - I was most disappointed with this of all the dishes. It is part my fault for not asking what their "perfectly cooked" temperature is, but it came out medium with the end pieces being medium-well. I prefer medium-rare and should have requested that. Flavor and crispiness of the skin were perfect though (maybe ask for a little less sea salt on top if you're looking to cut back on sodium) Frutta di mare - simple but delicious. I like a lot of lemon on my seafood pasta so I asked for an extra slice to squeeze on top Limoncello dessert - haven't had many good ones in the past so I had low expectations but it was surprisingly scrumptious -staff was very attentive and accommodating -crushed red peppers actually had a little bit of a kick -we didn't think of it until after, but sit at the bar and watch the chef working his magic, if you can

It was my wife's bday and I like to typically find unique restaurants for fine dining. Because we have done other tapas places (i.e., Vaca), we wanted to try something new. After digging through Yelp, we stumbled on this gem called Truffle Bistro!!! I first started off by reserving a seat over the weekend. Because we eat early, we probably did not need reservations. But, you may never know. As I get older, i get grumpy and agitated when waiting for food. So I do reservations whenever possible. Anyway, for the price and portion, this place is one of the best Spanish style food in CA. It may not be as fancy as Vaca, but nonetheless it is highly underrated. Regarding the food, I mostly stuck with the Tapas portion of the menu. This includes the following: *Oxtail - a nice spread you put on your slice of bread. The waitress recommended this but so do I. * Seafood Paella - please note that this was not a tapas plate. For the record, my wife and I had really great paella in Spain before. In my opinion, their Paella is pretty good. The seafood is fresh and the rice is pretty flavorful. * truffle fries - as a warning, these darn things are so addicting. * Quail - this was alright. Maybe because we eat this often in Asian restaurants, there was no wow factor. But, i would still say this is solid. * Brussel sprouts - pretty good portion and it was roasted to my liking. Parking is free and the restaurant takes credit cards. The service is excellent. Because I had a surprise birthday cake for my wife that day, we did not get a chance to try out their desserts. So mark my words, we will be back!

The music was good, but the door to the street was open and the cars zooming by pretty much drowned it out. We had reservations that weren't needed, we showed up 30 minutes early and the place only had one other occupied table. Service was slow at the beginning, seems like the hostess was also the waitress, and bartender, and possibly helps in the kitchen. Husband had a michelada and it was very good, super lime forward. Tasty and refreshing! My iced tea was really good, very lemony. We wanted to try the corn cake pancakes but didn't want the whole meal, so we asked for one, were told it comes with two. It was $12 for two, instead of $17, which comes with bacon and eggs. The pancakes were yummy, but slightly undercooked and almost raw in the middle. Loved the sweet corn flavor, and the crispy, salty edges. They had plantain chunks on top, but they didn't do anything for me, they were bland. I would love to order the pancakes again, and I hope they are fully cooked next time. He had the Avocado Toast and said it was one of the best he has ever had, it's served with chorizo and queso fresco. He said the chorizo was great and he loved the sourdough bread. He ate both pieces, and he rarely eats an entire plate of food! My chilaquiles verdes with skirt steak was great! I asked for the steak to be medium rare, it was around medium, but still tasty. The portion was way larger than I was expecting, I finished about half and took the rest home. Their entire menu sounds great and I hope we come back to try more of their food.

ENCHILIDA SUIZAS, lobster + shrimp filling, corn, poblano cream sauce, pickled red onion, cilantro, queso fresco, I give 5/5, I enjoyed the combination of the sauce and enchiladas, it wasn't overcooked and had a great refreshing savory flavor. The best part of the meal was the appetizers, definitely need to get both the bread and the shrimp together so that you can soak up all the delicious shrimp sauce. The shrimp was 10/10: juicy, crispy, and oh so flavorful. I wish they were more proud of their roots and didn't dumb down the menu as they called the Gambas Al Ajillo "Sautéed Shrimp". Initially, we were seated in the patio. A big shout out to our waiter Pedro who was so attentive with 10/10 spectacular customer service. He gave us a heads up that the kitchen was running behind so our food wait was going to be a bit long. He also gave us the spectacular recommendation to get both the bread and the shrimp appetizers together so that you can soak up all the delicious shrimp sauce. It turned out to be the highlight of our night! As the night progressed, the wind picked up so much that even the space heaters couldn't keep the chill out and we asked to be seated indoors. Unfortunately it seems their policy is for the customer to speak with the hostess directly rather than the server assisting us. When dining at a $$$ establishment, I expect a better customer experience than having to ask the front for a different table and then getting a condescending tone from the hostess about being booked out despite being 1/2 empty. Then when seated inside, unfortunately our interactions with our inside waiter Jorge was very short and brief everytime. It felt like he was running away as fast as he could the moment he even got near as he would drop the plate and then run. Our patio server Pedro ended up saving the night as he checked up on us frequently even though we were no longer seated in his section. Enough about ambiance and service, now onto the food: Got the: 1. Rustic Toast and Tomatoes: 8/10, The dish would be made better with more toast. Additionally, the tomatoes seemed almost pureed and I think it would have been better if it was chopped. Still it was a perfect pair to the Sautéed Shrimp and I'm really just nitpicking at this delicious appetizer because I wanted more of it, lol 2. Sautéed Shrimp: 10/10, the shrimp were juicy, crisp, fresh, and just very scrumptious. It's what every gambas al ajillo dreams of growing up to be. 3. Paella Negro: 9/10, the octopus inside was perfectly cooked: soft, moist, and perfectly tender 4. Mediterranean Sea Bass: 8/10, the fish was cooked very well and without any fishy taste or excessive bones TLDR: A great place to impress a date or hold business meal. If money and social conventions were of no object, I would come everyday to get their sautéed shrimp so I can stop drooling in my dreams.

We stopped by here on my birthday for a nice evening dinner. Got there a little before sunset. There's just something magical about eating outside during a sunset, especially at the Orange Plaza. The restaurant has such a cool look and vibe! We started off with the Hamachi crudo, salmon ceviche, and a bowl of clam "chowdah". The crudo was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans. We also got the skirt steak "bulgogi" which was served on top of mushrooms and bok choy with a sweet soy sauce. They accidentally brought out salmon instead of sea bass, but were very apologetic. They brought out a sea bass on the side and comped the entree to make up for it. Great service right there! The salmon and seabass were both delicious and cooked perfectly. The steak was tender and juicy, full of flavor. As a birthday gift they brought out a thai milk tea blondie sundae which was soooo good! Get it if you like sweets. I wish the owners all the best in their future endeavors, they created a great restaurant that many will miss. Thanks to all the servers, hostesses, cooks, and bussers as well for making my birthday dinner so special!

I was disappointed in the patatas bravas, however, which I felt lacked much flavor. The cocktails were exceptional. I enjoyed a classic dirty martini, their specialty vaca tonic (A+ cocktail), and had their non-alcoholic drink called Starry Night (very delicious, but not worth $16). The setting is quite breath-taking, with the restaurant decorated with elaborate cuts of meat and wine bottles. The lighting is very warm-toned and elegant. Overall, we had a delicious meal and cocktails before heading to the Segerstrom (just a quick walk away). The service was excellent and the meal great, but I think the whole experience was heavily overpriced for what you get.

Our food also came out fairly quickly, which I appreciated. I started with the Vaca Tonic which was delicious. For food, the standout was the La Bola -- a crispy potato ball with flavorful ground meat inside. I'd come back just for that. The scallops, however, were just okay. They were very small for "sea" or "diver" scallops, and the menu didn't specify what kind they were. The sauce was fine but nothing memorable. I was most excited for the wagyu oyster cut steak and ordered it medium, but it arrived more rare than expected and was surprisingly chewy rather than tender. Overall, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I love tapas, but this spot fell short.

Came for a girls lunch date earlier to this weekend and this spot did not disappoint!…read more THE SERVICE: 5/5 - Quick, friendly, accommodating, and our waiter made a real effort to engage in conversation with us. The FOOD: 4.5/5 | Drinks: 5/5 Off the appetizers, we had the pork belly bites and dirty fries! First dish came with a long hot pepper, several mini tortillas, and 2 dipping sauces. The pork was crunchy on the outside and soft+succulent on the inside. I can see myself doubling up on this appetizer the next time I come. Dirty fries were great; it came with a generous amount of pickled onions - providing a really nice contrast to the savoriness of our meal. Our waiter graciously accommodated our request to have the egg on the side. Off the entrée/taco menu, my friend ordered the Korean tacos and I got the Ensenada (fish) tacos. But you can also order the Ensenada tacos with shrimp. These were delicious, I would have loved a little more lime crema to go with the fish - but not a big deal. I got a Watermelon Margarita. I wasn't expecting it to be HUGE, but it was the perfect amount considering how much food we as a pair ordered. My friend ordered the La Toxica table side cocktail and one additional mango cocktail. Table side cocktail was a whole show and my friend really enjoyed it. We had a great lunch at Tempo Cantina. I can't wait to try more of their bar menu, maybe even at night when the restaurant is lively
