Street parking. Lots of indoor seating and very spacious aestically. Workers are very friendly. Got their poke bowl and it definitely was filling. The fish was semi fresh, maybe at least 2 days at most. The Infamous taro chips were decent, nothing of amazement but very good nevertheless

Disclaimer: this review is for the food only because it was take out The fish was of decent quality but I would definitely say on the smaller side in terms of portion. If you're someone that likes to taste more of the natural flavors of each ingredient, then perhaps this is for you. I believe most if not all the sides were pickled but they tasted only very lightly pickled. The truffle mayo was delicious but only covered so much of the bowl so overall it tasted more like a salad with minimal dressing where the ingredients weren't quite uniting.

Overpriced and disappointing quality. The meat scoops were the tiniest we've had at a Poke restaurant. The imitation crab was dry and flakey. The salmon fatty and barely and unappetizing. Disappointing for a local poke restaurant that we've seen continuously on social media ads. Would not visit again.

Fresh fish and the best variety in poke bowl toppings! One of the better poke spots in the San Mateo area. My only note of criticism would be that they didn't use a new bowl to weigh out my fish. My partner ordered first and added a bunch of sauces to her fish and the server used the same bowl for me but I didn't want any sauce so it would have been nice if a clean bowl was used for my order. Very generous portions and everything tasted great though! I'll still be back :)

I enjoyed my poke bowl from here, we were looking for some lunch in the area and decided to give them a try. I was glad to see that they had some outdoor tables since we had our dog with us. The restaurant was clean and the workers were friendly. There is only street parking available, we managed to find a parking spot nearby. The poke bowl was delicious and I thought the portions were pretty good. Of course, I had to get the truffle aioli sauce and it was a nice addition to the poke, you don't usually see truffle as an option. Overall, quite an enjoyable shop for a poke bowl. The main highlight is the addition of truffle, so if you like truffle and poke, you'll want to try this shop out!

Went here on Tuesday so it was pretty quiet. I got a custom regular poke bowl since it was only a few dollars more than the small one and you get 2 more scoops of fish! I got the salmon and crab. You can never go wrong with crab and the salmon was fresh. I got the original poke sauce and the truffle aioli. The combination was super delicious!

Ordered a regular bowl (four scoops) to go on a Saturday night. The store was not very busy so service was fast. Straightforward menu with steps to order. Their toppings bar is impressive; I can't say I've ever been somewhere with this many. Tried the kimchi and the daikon this round; both didn't disappoint. Portions here are decent. They def went ham on the fried onions. Def hit the spot, I'll probably ask for a bit more ponzu next time. Will be back to try the taro chips!

Solid Poké! Glass noodles and white rice as the base with salmon and a wide variety of toppings FTW. Good fast service too.

The poke here was all right, I did really enjoy the truffle sauce, however, it made me super thirsty after. The service was decent, I did come in relatively later when they were almost about to close, so there were not a lot of people there. The place itself is very big, and definitely has a lot of seating.

I was craving poke the other night and discovered that our favorite spot was closed until the end of October. We decided to try Truffle Poke since it had been a while. The online ordering process was quick and easy, and we only waited a short time to pick up three poke bowls. While I wasn't expecting a lot in terms of presentation, since it was a to-go order, I was disappointed with the quality of the fish. Instead of the satisfying, substantial cubes of poke, all the fish was chopped into tiny bits and pieces, making it hard to enjoy the usual mouthfeel of fresh fish. The result was a bowl of clumpy rice mixed with seaweed salad and other toppings, where you had to dig for the fish. I also wouldn't recommend the crispy onions--they were stale and greasy, and it was more trouble picking them out than they were worth. Overall, it was a miss for me.

fish portions are pretty stingy even for a regular bowl. rice was fresh, toppings were fine, hamachi looked a little sus, salmon was good. service was prompt, we were the only ones there for an early dinner.

I got a small bowl with rice and salmon for my proteins for $15. You get two choices for the protein, can mix sauces, choose an aioli, and get unlimited toppings (some are extra charge). The ladies that helped me were nice and quick with our bowls. They had less variety of toppings than other places I been to, but it was still a decent selection. Fish quality was decent. Inside, there's lots of seating. The bathroom toilet didn't have a seat which was a bit inconvenient. They also have happy hour for oysters. I believe it was $1.50 per oyster.

    I N.

Bad customer service. The workers are rude and give judgmental glares. Skimpy with the toppings and protein. Tuna doesn't taste fresh since it has dry and fishy aroma. Ordered a small taro chips and received 4 chips. Very disappointing. Used to order the taro chips last year and it would triple be the size. I would recommend to avoid this place.

Seeing an all-Japanese kitchen staff and sushi chefs immediately gave us good expectations--unlike a lot of Instagram-viral sushi spots run by non-Japanese owners where we've been disappointed before. It's not a flashy, high-end fine dining restaurant, but rather a clean, welcoming neighborhood sushi joint. The overall quality is very solid: sticking to the basics, well-executed, and super fresh with zero fishiness. We ordered the 8-piece Chef's Omakase (which came with a complimentary Tamago for $63--prices seem to vary depending on the daily fresh catches listed on their daily specials board). Most people seem to order the omakase and then add extra dishes. We also ordered: * Hamachi Kama * Deep-Fried Baby Octopus (wonderfully tender and delicious!) * Salmon Tacos * Miso Soup We paired everything with a dry, clean sake that complemented the sushi perfectly. The service was exceptionally friendly throughout our meal. While it's not a "mind-blowing" fine-dining experience, finding a reliable, fresh, and well-priced sushi spot like this in the area is a huge win. We'll definitely be coming back whenever we're nearby!

I can't believe that I haven't tried this restaurant in the 20+ years that it's been around…read moredowntown San Mateo, but today was the day! We were looking for some light snacks & drinks to have before our Saturday night movie, and I finally came to try Fuji Sukiyaki. Nestled on the corner of Claremont & 3rd Avenue on the outskirts of the downtown food district, Fuji Sukiyaki is a nice, authentic, small Japanese restaurant serving good quality, reasonably priced, delicious Japanese food. The space itself isn't fancy, rather its plain & simple, and the focus here is on good Japanese food such as sushi, sashimi, nigiri, noodles, and comfort rice dishes. Everything tasted very fresh, portions were good, and service was polite & efficient. Ambiance felt casual, old-school, and no-frills, great for a light dinner on a time schedule. We started with boiled edamame & agedashi tofu appetizers. The edamame was some of the best I've had, it was nicely boiled, the beans had a nice crunchy texture & it was salted perfectly. The agedashi tofu was a generous portion, and the tempura dipping sauce and fish flakes were very tasty and perfectly seasoned. We also tried some Oshinko Maki (yellow pickle) and a Yam roll and they tasted very fresh with good sushi rice & wrapped in a salty Nori roll. I would definitely try more sushi here next time, given that enjoyed the taste of these two samplings so much. To wash it down, we tried the Yuki Nigori Lychee Sake that was a big, elegant bottle that gave us each around 6 servings of delicious & creamy sake. The taste was surprisingly good, it was rather thick, milky, sweet, and not too strong in the alcohol content. This nice drink perfectly washed down everything that we ate, and I wouldn't hesitate to order this $25 bottle again next time. Service was quick, professional, and efficient. Waitstaff walked around taking orders, explaining menu, and offering suggestions or descriptions when asked. The space is clean, airy, bright, and spacious. There is a main sushi bar to watch the chefs create their craft, a lot of tables to accomodate the crowd, and some larger party tables and even a big tatami room in the back with sliding screen doors, for private parties. The bathrooms were also impeccable. It took me 20 years to finally try this place, and now that I have, I plan on coming here more regularly. It is conveniently located, very accessible, and well-priced. The food, service, and ambiance are quick, casual, and simple, just what I like & look for in a casual restaurant to grab a few quick bites & drinks before embarking on nighttime plans & activities. Will be back soon!

Though on the pricier side ($45.99 per person w/o tax + tip), the quality of fish is better than most AYCE sushi spots that I've visited in the Bay Area. Service was a bit lacking but we did go on a busy Saturday evening. We had to call a waiter or waitress to give us the tablet to order each round, and we ended up making it to 5 rounds within the 90 minutes they give for the AYCE. They also have a rule for ordering where each person can only order one starred item per round - which I found a little strange at first. I did appreciate how the AYCE came with hot sake though! We didn't have a reservation and almost had to wait an hour, but a spot was open where we squished our party of 5 to a 4 person booth (I'd recommend making a resy). The overall decor of the place is nice, while the ambiance was pretty busy but relaxed. It's in a prime location on San Mateo downtown which was also a plus. We decided to come here for dinner with my brother and best friend, who was just here for lunch a week before. We got there during dinner hours and were seated right away, party of 6. The place was nice and modern inside and staff was friendly. System: The way it works is that 2 non-star item and 1 star item per person per round. No problem, or should I say there is a problem. They DID NOT have UNI and SCALLOP available to order. So I'd ask about the ame-ebi and there is an additional charge. Now, these are like the main star items and they're out! So now we are just having oysters and so call Wagyu nigiri. Oysters were not the freshest and the rice fish/beef ratio on the nigiri was OMG, SMH. Well, at least it comes with free soft drinks and sake. I would not recommend coming, especially for dinner at $60 per person after tips and tax. If you are going to come, come for lunch and call first see what they Don't have. Besides the fried rice, the tuna and salmon sashimi are large, fresh, and high quality. Many times when I eat sashimi that is not very clean, it upsets my stomach and makes me want to use the restroom. However, the food here is both clean and fresh, and I had absolutely no discomfort after the meal. I also ordered chawanmushi and stir fried udon, both of which were very well executed. I would give full marks to this restaurant for both its sashimi dishes and main courses. The service is good, the environment is clean, and the dishes are priced normally, perhaps slightly on the higher side, but the value for money is reasonable. The only downside is that parking around this area is quite difficult. Overall, however, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys omakase and appreciates high quality Japanese cuisine.

Both times I've come I hadn't had to wait very long and our second time was with a large group including kids. Our server was great in helping us preorder before we could get seated and we only waited 15 minutes. We all ordered the same things: half of us ordered the original aburasoba and the other half ordered the homura aburasoba and the food came out quickly. They kindly gave us little bowls for the kiddos and forks and all the kids loved the noodles and the adults shared a large pitcher of beer. All in all, best aburasoba and one of my favorite spots in San Mateo!

The seating inside is pretty tight so your table is basically an inch from the next one, almost like a communal dining experience. Nikumori Aburasoba ($18.50): Spicy pork, pork slices, green onion, and ajitama. The spicy ground pork was delicious and they were generous with the thin pork slices, though those weren't as good as the ground pork. The ajitama was perfectly jammy. The aburasoba flavors were okay but less flavorful than mazesoba, which I now know I prefer. Wagyu Roast Beef Aburasoba ($25.50) + Chashu ($1.75) + Spicy Minced Pork ($3.95) + Ajitama ($2.50): Wagyu roast beef, crispy onions, green onions, butter onion sauce, yogurt sauce, and raw egg yolk. The chashu was average but the wagyu roast beef was thin and incredibly tender. The yogurt sauce and raw egg yolk made this one pretty creamy which I actually liked more than the Nikumori. Ume ($1.50): Did not like this at all. Hard pass.
