We came here twice in one weekend. Once for dinner and for Sunday Brunch. Both times, we shared dishes: Chicken Marsala, Texas Pecan & Fig Salad, Rosemary Chicken Pizza, Steak & Eggs, Bourbon French Toast and Tru-Pancake. I enjoyed all the dishes. I also tried the White Peach Mimosa and Blood Orange Mimosa. I liked the Blood Orange better than the White Peach. The White Peach was too sweet for me. But I should know by now to stay away from $2 mimosas. I don't do too well with cheap alcohol. Our servers were friendly. We sat in the patio both visits. There weren't a lot of patrons in the patio but both servers were attentive. My only complaint is, our second visit, the table wasn't cleaned off. You could see rings of water from the previous patrons. But when I noticed, we already had our food and drinks on the table. read more

In theory, I really like this restaurant. It's got a good menu and good location. However, they can't seem to execute. - I recently ate here and ordered Ahi Tuna, but when it came out it was completely mutilated tuna. The waiter didn't seem to want to acknowledge it was poorly prepared, but the manager quickly acknowledged it and replaced it. - Their pork chop used to be amazing, but it has not been the same since COVID hit. It's just doesn't taste as fresh as it used to. - Then I decided not to order those Items anymore, even though they had been my favorite, and tried doing take-out for burgers.... Despite repeating it back on the phone, the order was still wrong, and multiple items were missed. The bartender (new I think) was not apologetic at all. I've given them 2-3 second chances... but I can't recommend. J Theodore's is a few doors down... go there. The food is better and the execution is on point. read more

We have been coming to tru fire for years however the service and cleanliness has gone down hill. We arrived Sunday afternoon to a bar that was 1/2 full following what im sure was a busy after Church crowd. Seating abounded a the bar however the area we chose to sit still was not cleaned with "sugar, milk" something" still on the bar. I pointed and the bartender who quickly wiped the area to which I had to complete with cocktail napkins. I don't know if it was shift change or what, but the ladies who were behind the bar took up a conversation that seemed to occupy all their interest. I waved my hand and ordered a "old Fashioned". My wife asked to taste a wine, to which the horror begins. As the conversation continues with the two bartenders, one of them grabs a napkin from the sink area and begins to wipe a wine glass, looking at the glass as we were and seeing all the smudging, fingerprints, dirt, etc moving over the glass. She then pours a sample for my wife and sets the glass down. The edges of the glass still have lip prints on them, guess the dirty rag didn't do the the job. Disgusted, we made excuses and promptly paid for my drink and left. The convo with the two bartenders, still ongoing... Tru Fire had its day, time to look at the many other options the area has to offer. With so many choices, restaurant owners have to up their game to compete and remain open. Very nice atmosphere with a variety of food to choose from. They have specialty cocktails and wines as well as a great dessert cake to enjoy. The burgers are great also. I highly recommend the akausha burger or impossible burger. Great for dates, business meetings, or friends. I will definitely come back here again. For Gluten Free diners, I highly recommend this place. They have a separate GF menu with most of their regular options tailored to exclude gluten. We started off with cocktails, their house sangria and a Tito's martini. It was probably one of the best martinis I've ever tasted, it was like sipping on a icy cold cloud. I was able to try the crab dip with GF pita bread but needed to save room for my entree. The Tomahawk pork chop was juicy and well seasoned. I unashamedly finished the whole entree but it can easily be shared. The restaurant itself is both spooky and romantic. I love the intimate vibe. The outdoor patio is nice too and on Sundays they have mimosa specials. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

TruFire used to be one of my favorite "go to" places in my neighborhood for many years. No more. The last two visits (June 2023 and September 2023) were awful. Service was fine and the food was decent, but my interactions with the manager were terrible. Both times, he responded to our questions with sarcastic remarks and he gave off an overall inhospitable energy. Sadly, I won't be back. There are lots of dining options in Frisco and I will be choosing other establishments as my new "go tos". Good riddance to a very poor manager who is running off long time customers. read more

Not only was everything delicious, the customer service was on point. My mother-in-law has celiac, and they have a large gluten free menu. This was the first time I tried gluten free bread that I wouldn't have known was gluten free had I not known. Derek was our server and did an amazing job making sure we were taken care of and double checked items with the kitchen if there's gluten in them. Stumbled on this little gem. We don't get up to this area, but the area is really nice. The staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy, yet vibrant. We both had cocktails which were very good.We had the spicy garlic noodles. Very tasty, hot and fresh. The gyro platter was also very tasty, hot and fresh. However, the pita bread did not have pockets pre-sliced. I found myself butchering the pita bread attempting to make pockets to put my nice ingredients to eat. Would highly suggest TruFire cut these for their guests prior to serving. This would be very helpful. Would love to go back to try some of their other items. read more

It's not often I start a review before we leave the parking lot, but tonight is that night! We came here because my husband was getting a haircut in less than an hour in another place in the same plaza. Less than an hour for dinner. I hope we can do it. With two young boys. We didn't mention to anyone that we were in a rush. I think that's important to note. We were sat immediately and the inside of the restaurant was half full. We ordered waters and when the waters arrived we ordered our food. They have an entire kid's menu with chicken tenders, buttered pasta, or pizza. The kids both asked for pepperoni pizza, I ordered a turkey burger with fig salad, and my husband got TruMac--grown up mac and cheese. Our food arrived quickly--and hot. The kids pizzas were about 6-8" and I was glad they each got their own. My kids can devour half a pizza each on their own if I let them. The pizza was hot, but they were able to eat half of it before they complained, so it must be good!? My turkey burger was so good. It has manchego cheese (one of my faves), tomato, lettuce, pickles, mushrooms and a few other things. I love a burger with toppings and all that with a perfect fig salad for $13 was a steal. The fig salad had the perfect amount of dressing and it had pecans and I was in heaven. My only complaint is that the juiciness of the burger caused the bottom bun to get soggy. Maybe try roasting? Or rearranging the burger? I don't know but that second half couldn't be held and tasted so good even with a knife and fork and I just don't care. Though I loved the turkey burger, my husband's trumac was the thing that everyone had a bite of. It came out in a cast iron skillet, creamy, and covered in a layer of melted cheese. We all loved it! So there we are, wrapping up dinner with nearly 25 mins until we have to leave--y'all, we ordered dessert!! We went from worrying we wouldn't have time to ordering dessert!! We shared the Blue Lemon. It's a moist lemon cake with a lemon cream, blueberry preserves (maybe?) whipped cream topping. I used the m-word to describe the cake. Do you have any idea how challenging that was?! And still--it's the only word. It's an olive oil cake so it can't help be what it is. We ate everything and didn't take pictures. This wasn't because we were short on time or starving. TruFire, the brainchild by the founders of Mash'd, has made its way into The Shops at Starwood, located off the Dallas North Parkway on Lebanon Road. TruFire is upscale wine and casual food, whereas Mash'd is more casual with comfort food and brews. It's beautifully designed -- I love every inch of it. My party of 6 was made very welcomed with super nice and fun service. The menu has a wide assortment of items, and it made it quite tough to make a decision. SPICY GARLIC NOODLES [$21, 3.5 stars] had great items (gulf shrimp & chicken, mushrooms, prosciutto, romano, sweet vermouth butter sauce, arugula, rice noodles), but was bland & not spicy one bit. (Hint: that's why I selected it!) CHICKEN MARSALA [$19, 2.5 stars] -- again, great items (pan seared chicken, marsala wine sauce w/prosciutto, mushrooms, served w/bucatini pasta), but the gf sent it back when it was cold, heavy salt, and overall tasteless. My husband surprised me with this place for our anniversary and he did such a good job. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this place. As we walked in, the ambiance is that of a chill, slightly upscale urban feel. It's not too big in the inside but definitely cozy. We got to sit on the high tops, which I love because I like feeling taller than I am. The GM came by our table and was super friendly. You could tell he really enjoys his job and wants everyone who walks in through the door to have the best experience as possible. He recommended the Spicy Garlic Noodles and said it was the best thing he has eaten. We ordered the flatbread with steak as our appetizer. It's a deconstructed flatbread so you have to pile what you want on it. It came with feta cheese, yogurt dill sauce, slow roasted tomato spread and caramelized onions. The tomato spread is true fire! Honestly everything was really good and I like that there was enough pita for the both of us to have a truly filling appetizer. Everything was eaten and we were ready for our main course. I took the GM's recommendation and got the Spicy Garlic Noodles. My husband got the half order of the Chicken Parmesan. The recommendation did not disappoint. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Everything about my entree was flavorful. It had chicken, shrimp, mushrooms and it all merried beautifully. TruFire is such a little gem, hidden in a (nice) strip mall right at DNT and Lebanon. We've dined-in and ordered to-go, and the food has been great each time. The restaurant isn't very large, but has a nice atmosphere - cozy with dim lighting. Service is fine. Not bad, but definitely nothing to write home about either. Each sever we've had (or the people at the bar who handle to-go orders) has been....lukewarm. The food is fantastic! - My go-to is the Naked Avocado salad with the Akaushi Flat Iron Steak - diced avocado, heirloom tomatoes, feta, bacon, red onion, lemon, and olive oil. So light, refreshing, and satisfying all at the same time. - Husband likes to get the Gyro Platter, which includes seared lamb & beef gyro meat, diced tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, feta, potatoes, tzatziki, and pita. It's quite a bit of food so come hungry! - My absolutely FAVORITE thing is their fries! We always get a side of fries - they're super thin and crispy (my favorite kind of fry) and are served with the most amazing homemade ketchup. First time here, accidentally made a reservation for TrueFood in Plano but they were able to accommodate us with a table for 2 at 630pm. Our server, Rohail, provided us both with great recommendations on an app, drinks and entrees. It was such a great ambiance that we decided to stay for dessert when we only wanted to pop over for a quick dinner. We had the Hummus, with veggies and the spicy garlic noodles and pappardelle with meat sauce. They were out of all sauvignon blancs but he was able to recommend the Davis Bynum Chardonnay which was a great recommendation.
