The Doctors are AMAZING especially Dr. Alex. Dr Alex and Dr. Haydt are both very nice and very professional. There hygienist was also amazing and really took her time explaining things and was very professional. My only 2 complaints are: 1. I always had to pay a lot more then the treatment plan stated. I know that the statement only states an approximate. But it's a huge difference paying over a $1000 more then stated on the plan. 2. There was one assistant that helped doing the fillings and it seemed like she was new because she needed a lot of help and sometimes she will hurt me by not knowing what she was doing. It took a lot longer then it should and it was really painful and keeping my mouth open while she had to get someone to help her multiple times during the treatment was really annoying. I had a few fillings done that day and I wish they'd had someone scheduled that was a little more gentle and faster and more experienced. I wouldn't mind and would be more understanding if I had only a little work done. Still a good place to go to and I'll keep going because of the doctors and their hygienist. Hope thought that I don't have as many surprising bills and maybe the assistant is better trained next time. read more

Very disappointed in this business I made a Dentist appointment and the day before my appointment they call and said they needed my insurance information which I gave them a week before my appointment..on the day of my appointment they call me being very rude saying they call me back if I need to come to my appointment..they had to check to see what my insurance covered. The receptionist was very rude I would not recommend this company...all they care about was what my insurance cover..customer service is very poor. read more

I have always got anxiety about going to the dentist and Tryon Family Dentistry has changed this for me. I am now comfortable and can manage staying calm and at ease about the experience. Summer was my hygienist. She explained everything so thoroughly and so gently that I was completely comfortable and ready to take better care of my teeth. Dr. Leo is a tooth extraction ninja. You won't even have time to think about the anxiety you have towards getting a tooth pulled. Dr. Alex is just so sweet and gentle. You cannot go wrong with Tryon family dentistry. Dr. Leo is great but I will never return here. I chipped a crown, but was still on a 6 month wait period for my dental insurance. I called to inform them of the situation, as I was a returning patient and they said "it should be fine" without actually checking with my insurance. I went in later that week and Dr. Leo spent about 30 seconds shaving down the chipped crown and sent me on my way. They charged my insurance $226, of which the insurance paid $76 and now I am stuck with a $150 bill. For 30 seconds of work. I called to dispute it and they just referred me to the insurance company stating that the "it should be fine" was just an estimate. Zero is not an estimate for $150; they should have said "it should be fine, but if not you will be charged $x." Obviously the insurance wouldn't cover it when my 6 month wait time is not up, which is why I called in the first place. $226 for shaving down a crown for all of 30 seconds is an unreasonable bill. I can't support dishonesty and taking advantage of patients. read more

I have been a patient for now for 5 years. This dentist has always been forthright , courteous to financial concerns, kind at the side of the chair, straightforward about costs and above all HONEST (never had a dishonest Dentist or Doctor) I RECOMMEND Dr. Haydat and his very professional and courteous staff. As for the review with one star-- get a grip. This office is state of the art, both with STAFF, Education and Equipment(SEE). I am pulling multiple k's out of my pocket- Dr. Haydat , counseled , discussed options and provided, today, a ' *10' in service and honesty. I HATE going to the dentist. Thankfully I found Dr. Leo and his practice when I first moved to Raleigh. I had issues with a Crown my former dentist had put on and it wasn't down well and was causing discomfort. They fixed everything and got my teeth in tip top shape. I was recommended Tryon Family Dentistry when I first moved to Raleigh, and boy did I sure luck out. I've been about 4 times now, once for a perceived toothache and three times for cleanings. Upon my first visit I had two concurrent insurance policies and I was worked with carefully to find out which one was best to use! The hygienists are friendly, quick, and thorough. You expect all this from a routine dentist visit, however. What really bumps Tryon Family Dentistry from 4 to 5 stars is the dentist, Dr. Leo. He's extremely friendly and a straight shooter; I have never felt bamboozled with doctor lingo, as doctors are want to use excessively, when talking to Dr. Leo. My 'toothache' was actually a badly placed canker sore and he gave me heaps of advice on their causes and how to treat them at home. read more

I will begin by saying that the staff here are all extremely friendly. It may be a terrific dental practice, but I can't address that because my request to schedule an appointment was not responded to. I had a checkup back in October 2020 because I had lost a filling. After x-rays and an exam, I was given estimates for a root canal and crown. Even though I have dental insurance, my cost would still be over $700. I could not afford it at the time and told them I would be in touch. I was hoping to be able to get the money somehow so that I could save the tooth. After two months I still could not afford the cost, and the tooth was beginning to hurt, so I called and requested an appointment for extraction. They responded by emailing me a copy of the original "treatment protocol" for the crown. I contacted them again and explained that I could not afford the copay and I needed to get the tooth out because it was hurting me. The response was that they would send me a new "protocol" for an extraction. That was in early December 2020, and I still have not heard from them. Apparently if you are not paying for the high dollar procedures, they don't value your business as much. They don't need to worry about me visiting them ever again. read more

Needed to find a new dentist due to my old one retired. I got a crown from Dr Haydt and had bite problems afterward. Went back for 2 adjustments and still having problems so went back for a third. That's when Dr Haydt suggested my problems were from grinding teeth at night and not the crown. Went to a different dentist about 2 weeks later, had the crown adjusted correctly and never another problem, now at 5 months. I think, in my opinion, that Dr Haydt was more interested in making additional revenue rather than provide the proper service to his client. I would not recommend Tryon Family Dentistry or Dr Leo Haydt as a dentist. read more

BEWARE of this office, they will charge additional costs to your visit without disclosing until checkout! I went for a yearly cleaning and got charged extra for unnecessary fluoride treatment that wasn't disclosed by the dental assistant of being an extra cost of $47 until I was checking out. I was told that my insurance would cover it and reimburse me. My insurance did not cover this additional cost. I called back 3 separate times to dispute the charge but the office would never let me speak directly with Dr. Leo, instead I was told Dr. Leo would call me back but next received a call back for my pressing matter. You would think a customer of 5+ years would get better customer service and the office would take responsibility for an unnecessary fluoride treatment that did not have my consent to pay extra for. I am deeply disappointed and believe your office needs to revisit its ethics and integrity for its customers moving forward. I will no longer be utilizing your services based on this experience. read more

This was my first visit to Tryon Family Dental. i hadn't been to the dentist in a couple years(after my former dentist really messed up a filling-and i was in no hurry to go back there). as far as going to the dentist goes, tryon family dental is really as good as it gets. everyone was very personable, thorough, and professional. your xrays and pictures or your mouth/teeth are displayed on a large screen so you can see them. everything that is being done(or needs to be done) is pointed out and explained. and the facility is nice-quite comfy. my only disappointment is that i have to come back to have several fillings as well as have my wisdom teeth extracted(b/c i am sooo fastidious about brushing and flossing. but then who said life was fair...). but when i was checking out, the guy at the counter already had a print-out with what my insurance would cover and what my out-of-pocket expense would be-so i didn't even have to ask about that. based on today's experience, i would certainly recomment them to anyone looking for a dental. read more

I was very pleased with my first visit today. My appointment was at 2p and I had to wait about 20 minutes but my hygienist was very thorough and she did an excellent job! Dr. Leo was very clear on the steps he would like to take to get my mouth where it needs to be. I would definitely recommend other people. read more
