I've been to TRU Bowl a few times now and it never disappoints. Everything always tastes so fresh and I love how colorful and pretty the bowls are. This one was loaded with strawberries, blueberries, bananas and granola and every bite was delicious. It felt like a treat while still being healthy. The staff is always friendly and it's become one of my favorite places to stop after a workout or when I want something refreshing. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. The smoothie was completely tasteless, like blended ice with almost no fruit flavor or quality ingredients. For the price, it was a big letdown. What made it worse was the owner's reaction when I politely asked whether their smoothie was similar to Hailey Bieber's smoothie from Erewhon. Instead of answering helpfully, he got visibly offended and defensive. He then launched into a claim that Tru Bowls has "been around longer than Erewhon," which came across as rude and irrelevant. (For the record, Erewhon has been operating since 1966. Tru Bowls has not been around nearly that long.) Relax, Champ, even from a girl, you are spun way too tight! The combination of a flavorless drink and unnecessarily rude service ruined the visit. I won't be returning and can't recommend Tru Bowls to anyone. By far the best place for Acai Bowls I've had in the greater Sac area. Fruit is always fresh, tons of options for toppings and fruit that you won't find at your average juice bar or Acai place. You can choose the specialty bowls or build your own. They have smoothies and juices too. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. I came here with my girlfriend after a hike. The place was clean and spacious. The customer service was great and the price was not bad. I built my own large bowl and it was good. Second best açaí and ube I've had. Great toppings option. My only complaint is how you order. You just order your bases at the counter and pay. Then they call your number and you go up and tell the employee what toppings you want. This kind of slowed down the process. Also, my girlfriend felt kind of shamed by an employees and nearby customer reaction when she was asked which toppings she wanted, and she responded "all of the fruit." The bases are delicious ranging from traditional flavors to ube and you can also select different flavored chia pudding. I've been wanting to try them since I saw they were opening in Folsom and glad I finally got to check it out. Love the murals painted inside, repping the great 916. They have a variety of smoothies, protein blend smoothies, and acai bowls to choose from. They also sell jarred sea moss. It was hard to make a choice because everything sounded so good. Spacious interior with a few tables and benches to dine in. There were about 5 orders ahead of me so it took about a 15 minute wait for my bowl. They have a pretty large menu of bowls and drinks to choose from. There's also an option to create your own bowl. I went with The Rio Bowl. It sounded the most classic to me with acai base, hemp granola, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, coconut, hemp hearts, and honey. I really enjoyed it! All the textures were great. The crunch of the granola and hemp hearts were nice paired with the smooth acai base. The acai was delicious and refreshing. I liked that the consistency was more solid thick. I don't like how some acai bowls it's a rush to eat before it becomes all melted and soupy. So their acai base was perfect for me. I feel like I could've taken it to-go and it would've been fine too. The website advertises health and wellness. Simple ingredients. And the one we ordered was labeled as protein. It cost $9 or so for a small. There wasn't any nutritional information. I asked the staff and was told there wasn't one. Yes there's a list of simple ingredients. But for health. Wellness and superfood. There should be nutritional information: Calorie count. You're greeted as soon as you walk in! I've been looking for a really good açaí place in the area and I'm sooooooooo ecstatic for this place. I got the EZTRU BOWL my gf got the island bowl. EZTRU is the most perfect blend of ingredients I honestly didn't know if I'd care for the pumpkin seeds and it paired very well with everything. My gfs Island bowl to me was more of a little snack on a hot day or if you're wanting something sweet but healthy. My EZTRU bowl was more like a breakfast to me. Absolutely delicious and portioned well for the small size it's perfect... I think I'll go for a medium next time. We got one other small sea moss bowl to try, it was my least favorite but not because it wasn't good, I just preferred the EZtru bowl. I'm not a fan of the papaya and the sea moss, I've never had sea moss so I really wanted to try something different. Tru Bowl just opened their first NorCal location, and how lucky it's just a 30 minute drive away from us! They have a great location at the Palladio, it's a bit farther away from the main stores but it is next to the bigger restaurants like Red Robin and Dave and Buster's and right next to Seaquest, so they should get a lot of foot traffic! It's nicely decorated inside with a large Sacramento themed mural and a neon sign for those perfect Instagram photos! Service was great. The owners were so kind and took a moment to chat with us and tell us about their menu. There are so many different options to choose from whether you want a smoothie, protein smoothie, or a smoothie bowl..so we got one of each! Cali Vibe- this was my favorite of the three because you can't even tell there is protein in here! Normally protein smoothies have that chalky aftertaste but I would not have been able to tell at all for this one. I love the fresh strawberry puree too. Moon Matcha Latte- organic oat milk matcha latte topped with blue spirulina. Such a pretty drink! Stir in the blue spirulina for a pretty blue matcha. Still has the delicious matcha flavor and I appreciated that it comes with oat milk already! Dragon Slayer- I picked this for the pretty color and cool name but it tasted great and you can't go wrong with pitaya. This one is a good option for a starter smoothie if you don't know what to order. Smoothie bowl with acai, blu majik, and coconut base, dragonfruit chia seed pudding, honey granola, fresh fruits, date syrup, and cacao nibs- you can pick up to 3 bases for the small which is awesome! You can go up to 4 or 5 for the medium and large sizes. I love how many options there are but my favorite topping was the chia seed pudding. Can't wait to come back to try the ube base, unfortunately they were out this time around! The small was plenty for us and I even saved the rest for later. It's super filling with all of the fruit but you don't feel heavy afterward! If you don't want to pick ingredients then you can choose a premade smoothie bowl option.
