Terrible customer service. The host was unwilling to accommodate our party of seven even though two tables next to each other could have easily been placed together. We had a hungry 8 year old and a toddler and they sat 4 or more other parties before us. We were told this was due to the tables belonging to two separate servers. Bad business practice. I've been going to T's since 1992. I love the Bennie's and they have the best Bloody Mary in North county no doubt. They even sell their own Bloody Mary Mix.The service can get backed up a bit if they are really busy. Do Not worry though because the food is definitely worth it. Please please go there. Oh my! It has been several years since we visited T's Cafe. The waitress took our order quickly, but was very inattentive the whole time we were there. It took is almost a half an hour just to get a glass of milk for our son. When our food finally came, I would say close to an hour later it was cold, and when I sent it back they warmed it up in the microwave and brought it back to me. The Bloody Mary's we ordered tasted like watered down tomato juice, and we had to ask for silverware. Definitely not the same place we remember going to. Will not be back and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Great place for a nice Bloody Mary and Eggs Benedict. Mr. T's has been around long enough to be a bit of an institution. The food isn't fabulous, but you would be delusional if you expected it to be. It's a fun retro-feeling breakfast hangout. The French toast is tasty and they do any number of yummy things with eggs (as I mentioned earlier, the benedicts are good). I've been going to T's since moving to So Cal over 20 years ago, and it's still my favorite breakfast place. The staff is always friendly and the food is wonderful. The portions are substantial and if there's any sort of problem at all, they are happy to put things right. Some folks have written that the newer waitresses are perhaps not as prompt as the more seasoned ones, but I've never felt neglected, no matter how busy the restaurant is. (And believe me, it's busy -- especially on weekends!) The food quality is great and I've never had a bad meal there. Right off the coast highway is this little gem of a café. Customized with a warm fire pit inside and booth seating with a few tables. With quite the inviting atmosphere, T's Café has a great breakfast menu that is absolutely flavorful. From the skillets to their biskets & gravy, every plate is worth trying. If you are into Bloody Mary's, this is the place to try, they have their own special tomatoe mix and add peppers to give it a kick in spice. They are always busy so make sure to get their early or be prepared to wait more than 15 min. to get seated and served drinks. Overall they are one of my top favorite places to visit. They have never disappointed any of us and we have been coming here for over 15 years. And after a tasty meal, the beach and park (Fletcher Cove) is right around the block. read more

This was an unfortunate experience. All you need to see is the picture and you will see why. This is a place where I enjoyed going to, however I worry now on the cleanliness and health management being monitored and maintained at T's. I found a WORM in my drink yesterday. I was freaked out and nearly threw up as I drank half my Bloody Mary before I discovered this little guy, but remained calm and did not cause a scene as that is not my character. We insisted they check all drink mixes, fruit bins/containers and entire bar area for squirmy/wiggling friends that may be nearby so no one else had to experience this. Our server was also in shock ..I was given a comp mason glass of champagne but we had to pay the rest of our bill, which was shocking. Not only is just about everything on menu fantastic, but their famous homemade bloody mary's are peerless and their other cocktails are nice and strong, just as they should be. I would have given this joint a solid five star rating, but the wait to be seated can get long at times and there are almost never enough servers to allow the extremely friendly staff to be as attentive as they need to be. read more

Last two times I have been there they had a 40 minute wait with open tables and then it took another 40 minutes to actually get our food. If i could give them no stars, I would. Horrible service, probably the worst I have ever experienced. I walked in with my family and stood there while three girls huddled around the cash register and barely looked at us. Another lady walked in and they helped her right away. I asked the hostess if we seat ourselves as we had been waiting and she gives me a disgusted look and acts as if its an inconvenience for her to seat us. The lady that came in after us told the hostess she could help me and my family first. The hostess then sat us next to the bussing station and where everyone was walking in and out of the kitchen even though the restaurant was at the most half full. I went back and asked someone else if we could move and they said no problem. We moved right across to a booth. We then said there for a while until the most rude waitress came over to "help" us. She was so short with us and no smile, no hint of helpfulness in her voice. She seemed like she was being forced to come deal with us. I looked at my family and said "can we go somewhere else?" and we all started to get up and leave. She just walked away and didn't say another word to us. She didn't even try to get us to stay or see if there was anything else she could do. I spoke with the manager and she blamed on them "having a hard day." She said she hopes we will give them another chance. Ummm... No. I will not go to a place where I'm treated like an inconvenience and give you my hard earned money when you can't at the very least just smile. I worked in hospitality for 10+ years and this is a great example to train my employees on how not to be. The food looked good, but I guess I'll never know for sure. We're a large group of co-workers here in Solana Beach and we've decided we are no longer eating at T's. Some of us live here, as well, so bring friends and such on wknds. After repeatedly being treated rudely - we no longer will frequent this establishment. Today we got 6 to-go breakfast orders (at $9-$11 each) and called in one extra order right after hanging up. When our person arrived, the order had not been placed. When asked if they could add it..she basically said...they were busy w/ other customers & acted as if we were lying about the call-in.. More than likely this was the same person who took the order and dropped the ball. So our $70 breakfast orders will now got to good ol' Jack in The Box where they serve you w/ a smile! read more

I have been to the cafe three times. Every time the food was great. The service the last two times has been okay. It seems like they are busy and not enough staff to handle the crowd. Or they don't have the minimum staff to run the cafe on a slow day. Also, I think 8 bucks for a well vodka (cooper) Bloody Mary seems a bit much. read more

This place is Aweful!!!! Went there for take out on a Thursday afternoon. 2 people in the whole place and it still took forever! Ordered the Crab Melt and it was soggy! Ordered a bowl of chili to go not only did they forget the onions and cheese I paid extra for but they didn't put the lid on correctly. It dumped all inside the bag! Recently enjoyed a Saturday Brunch with five friends from a prior job. We all ordered breakfast except for one who ordered lunch, all different items. Everyone enjoyed. I had the Garden Scramble with house fried potatoes. I loved the wonderful flavors and abundant fresh vegetables. I am a big eater but still took a box home and enjoyed it later for dinner. Our waiter was attentive and wonderful and didn't even seem to mind about separate checks. We have already talked about going back again soon. Highly recommend! read more

First the positive..As soon as my guest & I walked in, we were greeted by a very bubbly, friendly server named Cathy whom with a big smile showed us to our table. Positive first impression! The place wasn't full at all (there were many available tables and no wait), so we didn't understand why it would take *so* long to take our order nor for the food to take so long to come out. Our server was not nearly as friendly as Cathy, I will call her "Jane" because I understand how she works hard for a living. I don't want to get her in trouble, but I hope she reads this and realizes how mediocre service and blasé attitude can influence how her customers walk away from her table and the restaurant. My guest ordered the tuna sandwich with curly fries, and I can say they put some thought into the tuna salad rather than to just throw together mayo & canned tuna like many cafes do. The tuna sandwich was better than I expected. I asked for a BLT with avocado, and wasn't in the mood for fries so I ordered a salad (an option as substitute). The BLT was really a lettuce and tomato sandwich with a couple of slices of bacon and a PINCH of avocado ( $1.95 worth of PINCH). I don't think they put any/much mayo on it--it was quite a disappointing and insipid sandwich. I hadn't realized that for substituting a salad, I was charged $1.75 extra, bringing my very insipid sandwich and side salad to $12.45. For what it was, I think that was way overpriced. There's plenty of room in this restaurant, so I guess if you are going in a large group it would work. Maybe breakfast is better? Not sure if I want to give it another try. read more

Tasty food, but painfully slow service. The food is awesome for a little cafe and I enjoy both breakfast and lunch. The service however is worse and worse on every visit. It takes forever to be greeted, it takes forever to get your drinks (which are frequently wrong) and even longer for the often lukewarm food to come out. I do keep going back however. All the servers are very nice, but the restaurant clearly lacks management. T's is a Solana Beach staple, just be prepared to wait and wait. read more

I used to live in Encinitas and T's was my regular tradition on Saturday mornings! Wake up, throw on a pair of flip flops and Sunglasses and stroll on down, only to be met with smiling faces and a chilly Manmosa (mimosa in a pint glass) I have since moved away from the area, but every time I go for a visit I make time to stop in!! The food is delicious YES! Try the breakfast skillets! BUT, it's the loud chatter you hear from all the locals inside and the smell of biscuits and gravy pouring out from behind the kitchen doors that truly makes this place enjoyable. You might have to wait...but isn't that a wonderful sign that the place you're about to eat is WORTH IT! Wait, go to the bar, chat up the bar tender and stay awhile! It's not a place you eat and run! It's a morning you make out of it with a group of friends, or family who's in town! It's reliable. It never changes. T's Cafe has the feeling of a warm home you can always come back to!! I forgot to mention the home made hollandaise is so good I could eat it like soup. While the food was pretty good (I had the breakfast parfait and my husband eggs benedict), the service was AWFUL. It took forever to get seated despite the fact that there were open tables. Once we were finally seated, it took just as long for our waitress to come take our orders. We did, however, see her chatting it up with the table next to us.
