Hidden SF Gem! Very polite staff and DELICIOUS food. I have been coming here for years, and every single dish I have tried is great! Super recommend their Dragon Beef and Tomato Beef dishes. They work pretty fast even during peak hours. Evenings are great to dine in, as most people do take out.

I have frequented Tsing Tao since 1982 with one ownership change in about 1997. Used to be a regular customer but haven't been for several years now. Dropped in for lunch and was reminded why I used to go frequently. The inside remains the same yet is well taken care of. The prices are quite reasonable for SF today and the food is quite good.

Ah, one of my usual dishes, the fried chicken wings.

It's one of those places where you're just drawn to it because it matches your culinary vibe. This is one of my go-to lunch places even though it's all the way across town for me. It's busy for lunch, but get there at opening time before it gets crowded. Their lunch specials are fairly priced, service is fast (before the crowds) and they are consistently good.

Best value for a classic Chinese restaurant in the area! They have multiple styles of Chinese food and a huge affordable lunch menu! Their soup and tea are complimentary when you dine in and their service is quick and reliable. I frequent here regularly for lunch and the neighborhood is relaxed with good parking options. The restaurant is also quaint and great for catching up with someone over a plate of hot food and tea.

Great little neighborhood place. Friendly service, very barebones interior with very little sound absorption. One of my favorites here is the prawns with black bean sauce. The eggplant with pork is also tasty. The scrambled eggs with prawns is delicious. The salt & pepper pork chops can be a hit or a miss. Mostly very good but once we got a dish of fried bones. Like they took all the meat off, breaded and deep fried the remnant. Thankfully that's only once, but still I worry about the inconsistency. 3.5 stars for now.

I have been going to Tsing Tao for 20 years and this family owned restaurant is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city! Lunch specials are plentiful and delicious. Wait time for a piping hot meal of your choice is minimal and a complimentary cup of soup and hot tea is always given as soon as you sit down. Dinners are reasonably priced and abundant and delicious. I usually have a doggy bag for the leftovers. I highly recommend you try it and see for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for any special requests because they are happy to accommodate your individual choices and taste.

Great place for lunch. Quick service and small family business ambiance. Decent amount of seating. $14 lunch special and it comes with tea and soup. I also recommend the beef chow fun and crab Rangoon.

Rock solid food and quick delivery. Kung Pao tofu was just spicy enough and beef and noodle dishes were strong.

Our party of 4 ordered the fried hawt rabbit, spicy Singaporean crab with fried milk bread, Hong Kong black pepper steak, and beef chow fun noodles to share family style. Overall, we were super impressed with all the food. Everything other than the chow fun were super unique, but all the flavor combinations worked so well together. While the chow fun wasn't unique, I'd say it's still a very solid dish. Everyone in my party left full and satisfied. The food is a bit on the pricey side for it what it is, so I wouldn't come here regularly but I think that it's worth coming for a special occasion. Service here is super friendly and attentive--our waitress checked in on us frequently and brought us extra napkins and gloves for our food, which was super appreciated. One note is that parking can be a bit challenging so get there a bit early. The inside is lively and filled me with so much nostalgia with the decor. The staff is really attentive and friendly. I also appreciate the free peanuts and cucumber salad that you get when you're seated. My boyfriend and I ordered a lot of food because we wanted to try so many things! The lamb skewer was super moist and had a nice flavor. The XO escargot with milkbread had a nice buttery, garlic taste. The milk bread was fluffy and when dipped in the sauce it tasted very rich. We also got the clay pot rice and it reminded me of when I had it in China. The rice was crispy at the bottom and well seasoned. My favorite dish of the night was the squab. It was cooked excellently and the skin was really crispy. The five spice powder on the side really brought out the flavor of the meat. The eggplant was cooked well and portion was good but it didn't stand out as much as the other dishes. Overall, I would visit this place again. It definitely lives up to the hype. The squab and and clay pot rice were the stand outs to me but all the other food was really tasty as well.

I do remember that I absolutely loved the Peking duck. They came with very thin, I can only describe it as tortilla crêpe things that you would put it in. I love this so much better than the standard buns. I also loved the fried string beans. It was tempura fried and very light. It didn't taste greasy at all. Out of three places we went to dinner for work, this was my favorite by far. It is right in Ghirardelli Square so there's a lot of things you can walk around and do either before or after. This location is also in Ghirardelli Square, so it is a fun, bustling area with lots to see and do before or after your meal. If you'd like a more authentic dim sum meal, perhaps you may enjoy heading to Chinatown to experience a more traditional set of dim sum offerings, but for our purposes today, this was more than adequate. One thing that stood out was the restaurant's mandatory 18% gratuity, which is automatically added to every bill. While I understand and respect service charges, I also believe they should come with a reasonable standard of service. During our meal, we politely asked our waitress, Lily, if she could please bring us some soy sauce whenever she had a moment. In response, she audibly sighed, turned her head, and rolled her eyes, which felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. Throughout the rest of the meal, whenever we thanked her for bringing our dim sum, she didn't acknowledge us, and simple requests like refilling our water were ignored while she happily chatted with other coworkers and the table immediately next to us (which appeared to be people she knew outside of work). The rest of the staff seemed normal-friendly, which made this interaction stand out even more. Had the gratuity been optional, I would have tipped based on the service we received. Because it was mandatory, paying an 18% service charge for an experience that lacked basic courtesy and attentiveness felt particularly unfair and disappointing. This was my second visit here, but it seems bad service is not uncommon based on other yelp reviews.
