My husband ordered the tonkatsu ramen with thick noodles, and I got the garlic miso with udon noodles. We both agreed that the garlic miso was by far the standout -- easily one of the most flavorful broths in town. Rich, savory, and packed with flavor, it's definitely something I'll be craving again. We also tried the gyoza, which was decent, but honestly the garlic miso udon soup stole the show and is probably all I'll order next time. Service was excellent from start to finish. They were quick to answer the phone when we called to check if they were open for the holiday, our food came out fast and piping hot, and the staff checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. Our water glasses were always refilled, which we really appreciated. Overall, a great experience with both delicious food and attentive service. Only got a photo of the tonkatsu below! Wish I got the garlic miso too!
Tsuchiya Ramen - Decided to try this Ramen spot out, I've seen it for years as I stop by next door for Boba, always loved that you would see one or more JDM vehicles out front, yet never went inside, well today was the day and loved seeing the ambiance with street tuning culture inside. The names of some of the items on the menu having tie ins to car culture was so fun. The food was good to, big healthy serving of ramen, so much I couldn't finish my bowl. I went with Spicy Miso, and it was delicious. I'd for sure come back. Soft drinks are in cans out of a cooler.
Good; ordered the roasted garlic ramen and a tonkotsu. Arrived at 1115, ramen arrived at 1130. Service was timely and well coordinated. Ambiance was quite nifty. Apparently by rating it's the highest rated ramen show in town, but still working on getting best comparisons.
I may have stopped in at an unfortunate time for the restaurant. There was only one front of house worker on a Sunday afternoon. She served as the hostess, busser,server, and runner. For this, she deserves five stars as she was simply doing the best she could. Unfortunately for the restaurant, this is the cause of their three star grade. The wait time to be seated was over 10minutes for a party of one. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes to have my order taken and I finally had to get up to get the attention of the lonely worker to pay. The filthy restroom was a reminder why it is important to have another worker present during business hours, especially on a Sunday. The Ramen was very good and perhaps the only redeeming quality this restaurant has. It was flavorful and exactly what you'd want to warm your belly on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The spicy edamame was overpowered by salt.
Tsuchiya Ramen is a cute, lowkey spot off of Bullard and Palm that is serving up delicious ramen (that you can customize) and other Japanese favorites like rice bowls and bentos. I've had their ramen before, and I remember it being quite tasty, but I got their chicken katsu rice bowl recently and it was filling and great. The one thing I wanted to highlight was the service. The woman helping me was so nice, took my order, gave me a time to come back, and even delivered my miso soup to the cafe next door after she realized I forgot it. I enjoyed my rice bowl, but I'm thankful she went above and beyond. Overall, I love that this spot is cute and has nice darker-themed decor to be a chill dinner spot in Fresno.
I've been wanting to try more ramen spots in Fresno and stumbled upon Tsuchiya Ramen. It is super relaxed inside and our server was so kind and attentive. We started off with the vegetable tempura which was pretty standard. It was a bit on the oilier side and didn't have the crunch I wanted but still enjoyable. I ordered the Green Chili butter ramen as I wanted to try something I never had before but I would get something else next time. I was not as spicy as I wanted and was a bit lacking in flavor. My friend ordered the Spicy Miso flavor which she really enjoyed.
Tsuchiya Ramen totally gave me Initial D, street car racing vibes w/ its actual, real-life (idk if it was intentional or not lol) car meet outside in the parking lot, Japanese decor inside and car memorabilia displayed throughout. It was quite an interesting industrial, unfinished aesthetic. Definitely nostalgic and made me miss my fixed up white Acura Integra..ala 2001. Yea..I'm a girl and yea I use to race. ;) Such a good pit stop on our family's Spring Break road trip to Yosemite. It definitely refueled us for the rest of our journey. Known for its customizable ramen bowls with flavorful broths and a wide variety of toppings, as well as, other menu items like rice bowls, bentos, and dumplings, Tsuchiya Ramen definitely lived up to it's almost 5 star Yelp reviews. The waitress was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly once our order was taken ~ less than 10 mins for sure! I ordered the spicy miso ramen ($17.99) with a sweet corn side (+$1.50) and complimentary topping of the fried garlic. The hakata (thin style noodles) were perfectly cooked, with a lil al dente bit to them. It had all the trimmings that I like ~ green onion, chashu, jammy egg, crunchy wood ear mushrooms, naruto fish cake, marinated bamboo, and nori. The broth was authentic, flavored with such depth. You can really taste the slow-cooked, miso quality in it. I loved the fried garlicky taste too! It was the right level of spice, I didn't even need to add any chili oil, like I usually do. My picky daughter opt'd for the "make your own ramen" option (starting at $12.99) ~ getting the same hakata thin noodle with tonkatsu broth, chashu (+$3.25), fried tofu (+$2.50), and freebie toppings of nori, sesame seeds & fried garlic. My son ordered the OG tonkatsu ramen w/ extra marinated bamboo (+$2) on the side. Lastly, the hubs wanted to eat lighter & healthier, so he opt'd for the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Everyone loved their meal pick. Dare I say..I even think it ranks better than some of the ramen joints in the OC. Who knew Fresno was poppin' in the foodie dept? Lol A total RxFoodie recommend and I'd return if I'm ever in the area again!
So I decided to stop by this place before my real estate boot camp. Order the spicy miso ramen and it came out with noodles, an egg and chashu. The bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms were not there. I was almost done with the ramenw when the server brought out all the ingredients that were missing. Blamed it on a new chef. Egg rolls were crispy, but filling was ok. The setting was nice especially if you're an Initial D fan. Tons of hachinroku references.
The establishment was quite interesting. It had some car racing Japanese decor, but also more subtle Japanese decor all around the restaurant. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated, and we decided to try one of everything on the menu. We ordered fried rice, Ramen, Bento box, and we all got to try a little bit of it. It basically came up to $100 with a tip so it was like $20 per person, which is pretty average for a sit down restaurant nowadays. The food was top-notch, very delicious. They give you a punchcard as their rewards.
Tried this place yesterday, and honestly it was pretty good. There were good and bad aspects during my experience. The good: the service was friendly and there were cute meme art prints which were nice conversational pieces, the chicken karaage was sooooo good, very crispy and the sauce that accompanied it was amazing, I ordered a build-your-own with milk broth, chicken, nori, and an egg and the broth was spectacular, very flavorful. The lukewarm aspects were, My partner ordered the standard Tsuchiya Ramen and it was okay, the eggs were a bit over cooked instead of jammy. Now...,the not-so-good aspect is, there was a piece of the noodle packaging plastic in my ramen, the waitress was very nice and took off that ramen, the prices were a bit more expensive than other ramen places here in Fresno. Overall it was an okay experience just a double check to ensure there's no foreign plastic in the ramen please:3
Took a trip to Fresno to visit some friends. It gave me a chance to track down a good Ramen House in the area. My wife did her thing with friends and I did my thing. At Tsuchiya I ordered a bowl of Spicy Miso Ramen (House Ramen list) and some pot stickers. They both hit high marks. The flavor of the broth and quality of ingredients in the Ramen bowl was excellent. For me, I like a hearty bowl with lots of vegetables, protein, and noodles. Every chance I get, I find a Ramen house. The question that always needs to be answered after the meal is, "Would I return for another bowl? The answer for Tsuchiya Ramen is a definite "YES". The Service was fantastic and the Ambiance satisfactory. This is another one to put on my "go to" Ramen list.
I love their green chili butter!! It tastes so good in the ramen. Has a good kick to it. Not overly spicy. A nice umami flavor. I got it to go and it came out piping hot. Got the bamboo, the fish cake, seaweed, green onion, and mushroom. I wanted to add a soft boiled egg but it was lowkey getting expensive because most of the toppings you have to pay for individually. I made a soft boiled egg at home instead. Service is koo. The girl that took my order was nice. I love the decor inside and out. They also have a claw machine if you're wanting to play while waiting for your food. Overall, love the broth and love the noods. It's a nice chewy texture.
Came to Tsuchiya because it came up on my Yelp feed. Colder weather + new (to me) ramen spot? I'm there! My husband and I were seated quickly on a Saturday at 6:30pm, and the one worker on the floor was working hard to manage dine-in customers and to-go orders. Service was on the slow side, but not a deal breaker for us. The ramen can be build your own, or house ramen which comes with numerous of toppings and choice of broth. My husband went with build your own so that he could try the beef brisket and fried tofu with garlic oil broth. I went with the house ramen with green chili butter, as that's something unique that I haven't tried before. House ramen was bomb! Green chili butter gave a nice organic and peppery spice, as opposed to my usual choice at other ramen joints (tan tan) which has upfront, in your face spice. The egg was perfectly soft boiled and the chashu was so tender and delicious. My husband preferred my toppings, with the beef not being as fatty/tender and the tofu not offering much flavor. However, the tofu improved once soaked into broth. Each ramen bowl will cost around $16 each, which is a little steep. House ramen is definitely the way to go for value and opportunity to try a little of everything. read more

One of the best Ramen joints in Fresno. The Hakata noodles are delicious and the Tonkatsu Ramen isn't too heavy. The Tempura shrimp is fried to perfection with panko and always crispy. They recently expanded their menu and we will definitely be back to try their other dishes. Did I mention our waitress was super sweet and remembered us from last time and gave us some more of the green tea sweet treats they give when getting the check :) read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost 3 years and this is my first time getting bad customer service. I'm not wanting to post these type of reviews, but I am super disappointed in the service that our server Carter L or I don't know if he is the waiter, but he was very rude where he did not even greet us politely was very rushy and wishy-washy with his behavior. Also, there was these two white people sitting next to us whom he checked up on numerous times to see if everything was OK mind you I was next to them and not once did he ever ask if everything was OK and when I had finished my water, I waited almost 10 minutes to see if they would bring me water and what this server did was just bring us a pitchure with water. God knows what the water what came from I don't know if it was sink water or I don't know if it was water from whatever they might use, but that strike me to the core where I am not trying to be dramatic customer or any of that case. I Can tell the racism towards me was obvious because not only did he not bring my check to the table I had to go pay over at the register for everything and I had to ask for my receipt super racist super rude. Very bad customer service. I miss the other girl waiter. She was more kind and nicer. Do I recommend this place? Yes, do I recommend coming at this time? Unless you are Mexican or of another country, don't because this server clearly catered more towards the white couple than to me and my partner, And to be more detailed, these white people were treated very nice by this waiter, but towards the end, when they went to go pay these white people were complaining about the check mind you this way they treated them with the upmost respect which makes no sense read more

The food was very tasty!!! The door at the front got stuck a bit a few times (not sure why). The service was pretty fast considering that there was only like 1 server, and they were nice and didn't forget anything. The interior of the place looked pretty cool too with all the decorations! Rainy day = ramen day. We dropped by on a rainy day and the place is pretty small. A few booths and a bar area. Luckily it wasn't too busy so we were sat right away. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and it was pretty good. Great toppings and overall a solid option. The reason I really enjoy this place though is the miso ramen. It was sooo tasty. I'd order that over and over. I'd say that's definitely the star between the two. We also tried a few appetizers. The shrimp tempura was nice and crunchy, well done. The chasu musubi can be skipped in my opinion. Overall, service was quick and to the point. We'll be back! read more

First timer and I love it! I did the make it your own section. The noodles were made to how done you want it. There are 3 options , soft, normal, and firm and two kinds of noodles to choose from. There are 4 types of broth, I choose the green chili butter because that one was something I never had as a broth for my ramen. To my surprise, I loved it. A little kick of spice and great flavor. For my protein , I picked the beef brisket which omg was AMAZING. Wish there was another slice in there, but it was delicious. Cooked very nicely and soooo tender. There are a lot of toppings you can add on your ramen. The space for this ramen shop is giving me traditional small ramen shops like the one I see in Japan. There are some bar seating and some additional seating in the dining area. Small shop but I love it. The staff was nice and when I picked up my order, they were quick and checkout was easy. This location is directly next to Mamma Mia's pizza. It's a small space with only three booths, and perhaps eight or nine chairs against the countertop around the kitchen. I like the decor and clearly some thinking went into that beautiful paint job on the walls. The atmosphere is subdued. However, there is a speaker which is directly aimed at the booth closest to the front door, where I sat. It's loud! I wish it had been placed on the opposite wall and not aimed directly at people while they are eating. Loud noise is annoying and unfortunately, this was the one night that I didn't have my earplugs on me. Lol The service was wonderful and I appreciate it that they didn't give me some huge 32 ounce glass of water! I ordered the house Ramen, and unfortunately it came out barely lukewarm. I had added extra pork which no doubt was cold. They should have heated that before adding it to the Ramen. Otherwise, the food was wonderful, but the whole point of coming to eat this on a cold night was the hot and comforting broth.. Oh, these places need to understand the physics of what they're doing. When you're adding extremely cold ingredients to a very small container of liquid, it changes the temperature. Makes it colder!! One needs to compensate by heating the broth up higher and also by warming the ingredients before adding them! I would also suggest that they take a digital thermometer and temp the broth before serving it. Don't serve it if it's not hot! had I been another patron, I might have sent it back to the kitchen. Other than this, which is a relatively minor issue that can be worked out, the food was delicious. The service was wonderful and the hostess did a good job of taking care of me, without fussing or being bothersome by 'over helping.' I definitely plan on returning and trying some other items. One minor misunderstanding was that if you want green onions or sesame seeds added at no cost, you HAVE to specify that. Now I know... Also, there's some type of spicy sprinkle powder (don't tell Ashley) on the table that you can add anything you've ordered. It's delicious! The food does not come out quickly, so you need to plan for that. And you're gonna want to go at an off hour otherwise you're taking it to go ... remember, there's only three booths and one of them has a loudspeaker aimed at you! Tsuchiya Ramen is a nice new addition to Fresno. I love seeing the variety of food improving every year. The service was pretty rough and left a lot to be desired. Just seemed like the kitchen was backed up and only one person in the front when the restaurant was full. The restaurant is nice and clean with cool Japanese street decor. A lot of Initial D memorabilia which is pretty cool to see, being a car enthusiast. I got ramen, shrimp tempura, and Karaage. If you're looking for ramen in Fresno, this is the place to go! Hopefully they can get their service times sorted out soon. read more

Great food! Very flavorful with unique touches that I haven't had at any other Japanese restaurant. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but I would say it's well worth it. Our server Kayla was great, and all of the food came out hot and fresh. I would definitely come back here. read more
