This place is by far my favorite place to dine in day or night. It is the perfect place to eat at if you are vegetarian or vegan but your friends are not. I usually have trouble choosing my meal here since everything on the menu sounds very appetizing. (If you are unsure of what to get just ask the waiter what they recommend - you will not be disappointed!) Each meal I ever had here was so tasty and just downright enjoyable. I mean you would think the Dragon Love (basically quinoa and roasted veggies) is really plain and boring but noo it's sooo good and packed with flavor. And their vegan cupcakes are the best! They are truly mouthwatering and you will most likely end up ordering another.. or four. Overall, I love this place. Cute decor. Polite staff. Clean. Huge portions. Delicious dishes and dessert. Came here for the first time last night (Friday) at 8:45pm for dinner. There was a band playing near the hostess stand at the front of the restaurant. The food and service were both okay. The food was priced normally for a nice restaurant. I was disappointed with my entree. If I'm going to pay $34 for an entree I expect it to be really good. I ordered the sesame crusted tuna rare. It was overcooked and just not that good. That was my only complaint with the food. I'd recommend this place for drinks and appetizers, but probably not if you're looking for a nice dinner. read more

Went to Tula's last night. Two of my guests ordered the glazed salmon. It was overcooked and rubbery. They did not say anything until dinner was over. As my guests it was embarrassing for me. When I told the waitress about the issue, she came back and gave her apologies from the chef. Apologies? Sad response to an otherwise good place. Quality is no longer this restaurant's legacy!!!! Horrible experience, it was my first time visiting the restaurant. My guest had dietary restrictions. They had nothing on the menu she could choose from. The chef ended up creating a pasta dish that was so bland. The sauce was essentially soupy water with very bitter greens. It did not look appetizing at all and was way overpriced. The hostess was one of the rudest and meanest ive met. I made a reservation for me and my friend and showed it to her and she stated she had no reservation. She stated due to COVID, she could no longer uphold my reservation. Ive come here multiple times and have felt the staff as haughty. I never felt I ever had to explain myself, but I felt she was shaming me. She went to my three white friends and asked for the reservation. I was neglected as a human in general, she made zero contact to me, yet I was the one with the reservation. She told me because I had a large party of 4 i would not be able to have a seat. My friend introduced me to this place a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. Great food and atmosphere. My go to is the Shrimp orzo, but everything on the menu is definitely unique and delicious. Many of the items you won't see at other restaurants which is why I love coming here and trying new things. The wait IS worth it! You will (almost) always wait to be seated on a Friday or Saturday night but I am here to tell you it's worth it. Had my first experience 2 weeks ago and enjoyed every minute I didn't want to leave/can't wait to go back. I ended up sitting at the bar in the second dining room and the bartender was great, very friendly and helpful but not too much so I could still enjoy catching up with a friend. The turkey meatballs and zucchini noodles are delicious! Spinach pie was also delicious and fresh. Love all of the healthy options they have. Food is delicious and service is great. However we took off a star because of their inability to honor modifications. This is especially frustrating when we are told that our modifications are possible and within their means, then our food comes out wrong. Both our appetizer and entree came out incorrectly or with traces of the ingredient we asked to be left out. I'm a fan! My mother and I come here with my toddler daughter often. Although I wouldn't say it's the most child friendly place, they are always accomidating to us. I love that there are so many options for vegetarian and vegan. (Plenty for meat eaters too!) They have great drink and app specials during happy hour at the bar. I came here with a few others. The food was very good and the service was great. The only negative was that it was extremely loud in there the night I came. It was difficult to hear everyone at my table. That being said, the food was great. We ordered the mussels, edamame and the taco bar appetizers and those were really good. Did not meet my expectations...were they too high?? Possibly. But have you seen the menu? I drove over 30 minutes to try something different...hoping it would be something wonderful. The menu is deep and wonderful. So many different takes on veggies and turkey loaf/meatballs, quinoa, etc. We started with two cocktails which were decent. Shared the cous cous salad which was quite good. On to the turkey meatballs and zucchini pasta - just ok -- and the Tuna Steak. Ordered rare, the tuna was seared but cold (made me think it sat around waiting for the waitress or other dish to finish) and lacked that velvety smoothness I expected. Again just okay but I have had much better many more times over. I was hoping to be lightly swept off my feet. For dessert we split the banana bread covered in chocolate a la mode. Sounds great doesn't it?? But again, we were let down. The bread was dry and gritty. I guess I can say that the menu is wonderful, stick with the salads, and let's hope that the food quality one day matches that of your expectation of a quality meal. read more

Came here for the first time last night. I was meeting a friend who was staying in Nassau for the weekend and I was coming from the north shore in Suffolk county, so I wanted to pick a meeting place that was easy for the both of us. We decided to eat here and absolutely loved it. We made a 7pm reservation, but got there a half hour early, so we sat at the bar to have a glass of wine. Before we know it, our table was ready right on time. For dinner we practically licked our plates and loved our food so much we ordered dessert. I can't say one bad thing about this place. The atmosphere, our waitress, drinks, dinner and dessert was perfect. I will definitely make another trip just to come here again. read more

Great place and a great atmosphere. I ate so many things. The menu was great... if I came back I would get a different thing every time! Had the Greek board and Mexican pizza which were great! In addition I tried my first poke bowl which was good, I also had the vegetarian burrito which was good. But my favorite thing was the Pecan Crusted Chicken salad. It was sweet and savory! I didn't expect the Parmesan cheese, the pecan chicken and the balsamic dressing to work so well together. I heard of this place from a NYT article on vegan options on Long Island so I thought I'd try it out. The decor is... interesting. My parents likened it to a dungeon, but I kind of liked it. They do not fry anything at this place, only bake. They also do all greens and grains organic and most of the other stuff is organic too. All vegan options are clearly marked. Free bean salad and pita to start is a plus and very fresh. I got the Tofu Veggie Crab Cakes. It came with Baked Carrot Fries, Sweet Potato Mash, organic greens, and Vegan Tartar Sauce. The cakes fell apart but were very flavorful. The Baked Carrot Fries were kind of strange and I'm not sure I liked them, but that might be because I was told initially that they were Sweet Potato Fries and the crunchiness scared me. The Sweet Potato Mash was very good. The Tartar Sauce complimented the "crab" cakes nicely. I tasted the Tempeh Teriyaki and that was very good as well. For dessert I got a Rockin Vegan Cupcake that was supposedly filled with cream. It looked like a white oil and wasn't very creamy but the cupcake was rich and chocolatey. The service here was very pleasant and friendly. I'd go back if I were in the area. read more

I think my biggest problem at Tula is trying to decide what to eat there on the menu. I'm always prepared to be confronted with what I would consider "alternative" cuisine, as in "organic, vegan, vegetarian" or otherwise just plain healthy. At my heart I'm a true meat and potatoes guy, but I enjoy stepping out of this realm and seeing what interesting things can be done in a meal which will not clog my arteries. My last venture was the Tula Burrito. It goes against my nature to eat a burrito with no meat, poultry, or fish in it, but since I could stand to shed a couple pounds after the holidays I gave it a whirl. It's now my favorite dish there. I've also had the salmon cakes, which are excellent. I was not much of a fan of the kabob chicken, it seemed a little bland to me. My dad once had the turkey meatloaf and I thought it was pretty kickass for being made from a bird and not meat. For appetizers, I love the Med Spread and also very much enjoy the gratis bean and pita plate. The wine list is small but not astronomically priced. The menu is sort of astronomically priced, as in not a single entree is less than $20 and the portions are not really lending themselves to providing you with leftovers, but you should expect to pay a bit more at a place with this type of quality, freshness, and uniqueness. Service is great as the waitstaff knows the menu quite well and they are prompt. Decor is nice and comfortable. read more

I got the tempeh rueben with vegan mozzarella and it was incredible. I've missed reubens since going vegan. My friend also enjoyed his food--- he got a falafel sandwich and said it was delicious. We both got cocktails and they were great. The only qualm I have is the misspelling of Virginia Woolf's name on the back of the menu! I recently came for dinner with my wife this past Friday and boy let me tell you, this did not disappoint. We parked in the rear (paid meters) and walked along side the place which had outdoor seating on the side and in front of the location. Entryway was nice and once you walk in you're introduced to a long sleek bar with smooth concrete floors and tables to the right of bar which has a lot of natural light from the garage doors (which open on nice weather) but today was too darn hot for it. Glad we came a bit early bc this place started to pack out soon as we were seated. Waitress was very nice, i ordered the "meatball and spaghetti" which is actually a vegetarian plate of 3 large lentil "balls" and "zoodles", the sauce and grated cheese were to perfection, now i been vegetarian since the beginning of the year and this is by far the best plate i've had in any vegetarian establishment. My wife ordered the lentil "meatloaf" which came with salad and mashed cauliflower, she too loved her dish. I did notice there was another room which i didn't get to peek into but all in all i would return here without a doubt. read more

Tula's is one of our favorite restaurants in town! We often go here if we are celebrating something and the menu has a lot of options for anyone with a restricted diet - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc. We've ordered the feta spinach pie and moussaka a number of times (so good and it's a huge portion). We've also ordered the Earth Moving Dream Bar, of course, and the bread puddin' - both we'd recommend. The atmosphere is pretty and intimate. Waiters and waitresses have always been very kind and informative. Knocked off a star since service (particularly getting the check) can sometimes feel slow, even when the restaurant doesn't seem that busy. read more

Although not a 100% vegan restaurant Tula Kitchen offers more than a gratuitous one or two vegan options. I felt welcome. The waiter knew what vegan was. The kitchen apparently knew what vegan was. Even though I have recurring nightmares about eating in mixed food establishments, (yes, Dr. Freud), I felt at ease here due to the relative abundance of vegan options on the menu. It was not an appeasement one or two items but a rather noticeable chunk of the menu. The decor is warm and welcoming, with a wooden banquette along one wall covered with pillows, and an almost hookah lounge feel to it. Not that I've ever been to a hookah lounge, nor is it a smoke filled environment. There are much better pics of the place on the website. Apart from the bar, every table was filled. The meal starts out with a complimentary vegan dish of seasoned toasted pita with a small dish comprised mostly of chickpeas, garlic, and onions. Although tasty and a nice way to start the meal, the pita wasn't exactly the right instrument for scooping up the contents. No worries, place settings are available at each seat. 6 vegan options made my choice rather difficult. Tofu veggie crab cakes? Oh, I'm coming back for this one! But for my main dish I went with the Tempeh Reuben. Sometimes you just have a hankerin', know what I mean? The dish was served with an Asian slaw. Crisp and fresh beyond a doubt, it had the perfect blend of acid and sweet. And crunch. It tasted like it was tossed and put on the plate as it was headed through the pass, not tonged out of a vat of pre made slaw sitting for hours. The Reuben comes with cheddar or vegan cheese so make sure you specify. This was one of the most perfect sandwiches I've ever had. And it surprised me because I was expecting, well, you know, a sammich, not a dining experience. The bread had the perfect toasted crunch, the cheese was gooey, the kraut was not overpowering but balanced the creamy house made, (with Veganaise), vegan Russian dressing and the whole thing just came together. Although it was made from Tempeh it didn't have any trace of a "tempeh-ish" flavor. The quantity of ingredients was also balanced with no search party needed to find any one thing and no culinary riot police needed to hold back any one flavor. As perfect as a sandwich can be, this was. Vegan dessert was of course the chocolate cake. The consistency was almost like a mousse. It was gone in no time. My flying compatriot, (who didn't order a vegan entree, btw, and thoroughly enjoyed his food, in case you're thinking of coming here with a carnivore), thought it tasted a bit "healthy." I know what he meant but since I haven't had a "regular" piece of dessert in so long I only noticed it after he pointed it out, being too busy smooshing the cake/pie around my mouth in near ecstatic savoring-ness. He did finish his half though. Tula is not a person, it's not "Tula's" Kitchen. As explained on the website, Tula is a sanskrit word for "balance." They certainly have found it here. read more
