An Austin place beating all the Houston restaurants but it's ok still Texas. The value is phenomenal for starters. It is not overpriced. The portions are perfect, the service was great and it is servers not counter service. They have a full bar but I went for work so didn't take advantage. The chicken was cooked just right and retained its juiciness. The greens were done well and the fries were good. The only thing I wanted to see is a "loaded" fry option with chicken. We dined here on Friday 8/25/23 around 6pm found parking right away. We thought it was going to be a bit busy as it was a Friday and it's a relatively new place. He was very good at first started us with drinks and recommended an appetizer. We took his recommendation as it sounded very good (the fries with queso and chicken) don't remember the name of them. On the other hand the queso seemed like it was heated velveeta and it was nothing but dark chicken that seemed to have been out for some time as it was kinda hard. About 10 minutes later and my drink being empty for some time our server came over and took our order. My husband ordered the chicken thigh sandwich with Buffalo and blue cheese with a Mac and cheese and I ordered just the Georgia peach sandwich. When I tell you and I'm not exaggerating about 35 minutes later our food came out. We were at a point that we were about to ask for the check for the one Pepsi and fires because we had been waiting for so long for just 2 sandwiches and a mac n cheese. But literally as we were going to do that our food came out. The server apologized for the long wait as he knew our food was taking so long. And that's about it. We asked right away for 2 to-go boxes and the check as we were kinda over this place. We took two bites from our sandwich and my husband said the only thing good is the mac n cheese. And he was was right I took a bite out of his and the chicken thigh was again nothing but dark meat and super chewy and dry. I almost spit it out it was gross. On the other hand my Georgia peach sandwich was good. But it was better as a leftover. If you're hungry don't go here as you will be waiting for a long time for your mediocre food. I've made it a plan with my friends to visit every month to try their new sandwich. This visit I got the monthly special which was a Korean spicy chicken sandwich. It is a wonderful combination of spicy and sweet, so fresh and satisfying. My friend got the fries which had a wonderful wasabi-like kick to it. This would be five stars if my boyfriend's chicken platter hadn't been a little raw, other than that, an amazing place with amazing food. So were the "angel eggs" although, I would have preferred regular bacon to candied bacon. The mac and cheese doesn't have a crust but the melty and good. The slaw was also fresh. Ice tea, 1/4 white plate (large breast and wing), and angel eggs came to about 20 bucks. The space feels like a typical Washington spot. A bit loud, hard wood surfaces and concrete means everything echoes but nothing overwhelming. My only suggestion is that if you're a big or tall person, make sure to ask for a booth on the side since the middle booths have bolted down tables. Very cozy chicken joint with staff that are quick to attend to your needs! We ordered everything to go and I would say it was just as good as if it were fresh. First we tried the og chicken sandwich. There was a generous chicken portion in it and the chicken was great. It was juicy and with a great crispy fry. We also got the Szechuan fries but they weren't really Szechuan. I think it was wasabi mayo, still delicious though. The chicken combined with crispy fries and scallions went well with the mayo. We also got an order of dark meat chicken, the fry was good but the meat itself was too greasy for me, I did think enjoy the spicy batter on it though. Lastly we had some of their mac and cheese which was the perfect amount of creamy and cheesy but not overwhelmingly heavy! I think the fry in all the different chicken we had was consistent, and everything was tasty. I would go back to try the other sandwiches as I think that was the best item we got. read more
