Tupelo Hot Honey Chicken Sando was the best chicken I've had in a very long time. I got the deviled eggs to start with the candied bacon, and they were DEElicious. Creamy and sweet. The bacon was not chewy, but the right texture to bite through for a two-bite egg. I wasn't sure about my side item, but ended up getting the cole slaw after a small taste. It was rich, creamy, and fresh. The sandwich was thick, juicy, sweet, and crunchy! The pickles and the mango slaw was there in just the right amount to balance the heat. The bun was soft and pillowy and held everything together, even if it was drippy. I will be thinking of this sandwich for a long time to come. Service was friendly and quick. The booth and the place were really cute and modern. This seems to be a popular place, so beware that there might be big, loud parties going on. I would come back here, though, and bring my drinking friends as their bar looked amazing. I took home a slice of chocolate pecan toffee pie because I couldn't pass up fresh pie. It was nutty and hearty.x I was expecting more goo, but it was still very tasty and fresh.

We got hungry after the Chinese Lunar Year celebrations and been eating Chinese food for the past several days. We wanted something different than that. We arrived around 4:30 PM right before the rush hour Tuesday. My husband and I were here two weeks ago with some friends. I loved their fried chicken! So, I wanted to take my family here to let them see how good their food is. As we were walking my elderly parents around the corner to the door, Dave was already there holding the door open for us. It was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The dang hot fried chicken is my go to. If you've had Gus's fried chicken and think that's the best then you haven't had the best until you've tried Tumble 22's! You have traditional then 5 different hot levels to choose from hot to stupid hot based on the type of pepper ranging from jalapeño to ghost pepper!! Gus's has zero spice levels! I promise you won't be disappointed with the perfection of spice, crispness to juiciness! It's my new favorite fried chicken spot! The prices are also cheaper than Gus's. I promise you won't be disappointed!

This place is the rave for fried chicken. Since my dad loves it so much, we decided to drop in to try. Party of three was quickly seated on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. After which, noted that there were several parties waiting by the door. The servers are very attentive, orders and drink refills were quick. We ordered: * Heavenly eggs - heat level mild, comes 5 per order, love the candied bacon on this dish * Ceasar salad w/chicken bites - who knew cranberries and pumpkin seeds would taste so good on a Ceasar salad?! * 1/4 dark - hot heat level, perfect heat level for me, don't think I could take it any hotter. The chicken is crispy, hot in temperature, and so juicy! * 1/2 mixed - even the breast piece is juicy and tasty! * Mac & cheese side - highly recommend, cheesy! * French fries - ordered it normal, didn't want to try the fancy ones on my first visit. Crispy and fresh, no complaints. The parking was rough. I had to circle around the pits 4 times before I finally landed a spot. And they're tight so I recommend ride share to get here if you can. I can't wait to come back to try their pies and milkshakes!

Made to perfection every single time. I've been to this location atleast 10 times and they have no missed once. Music is great. Drinks are amazing. Service is off the charts. The chef Brought my kiddos Easter eggs and watched them open them. You can tell they really care here. Love tumble.

Perfect spot to kick back with friends, grab a drink, and catch a game! Even better if you're pregaming before an Astros, Rockets, or Texans game -- spicy chicken + cold drinks = unbeatable combo. I ordered the 2-piece tender plate, Cluckin' Hot. Let's just say those beers started disappearing real fast before the heat even hit. The spice sneaks up on you -- not overly seasoned like other spots, but still packs a punch. The service was honestly the best part. They were a bit understaffed when I visited, but the bartender was handling drinks and taking care of us like a pro. Cool dude, never missed a refill, and made the experience that much better. Only small gripe: the sauces. Nothing crazy memorable -- maybe next time I'll ask for the tenders tossed and see if that hits the mark. Overall, great vibes, good heat, and an awesome spot to hang out before or after the game. I'll definitely be back for round two (and extra sauce, fingers crossed).

Absolutely one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. Not a doubt in my mind. Add in some amazing mac and cheese, crispy shoestring french fries, and a great selection of cold beverages... you're well on your way to your next big addiction. The staff at Tumble 22 are happy to greet you with a smile and answer any questions you may have about the menu. The menu is built to allow you to effectively build your own custom meal with individual sandwiches and sides. Nothing was disappointing. The restaurant itself was well laid out, reasonably bright and open. There was a great bar as well with a couple TV's showing the college football games. Overall this was a great experience and I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

Fantastic chicken. Their ranch is also amazing. The spice levels are legitimately spicy the higher you get. And their mac and cheese?? DIVINE. Excellent rec from our server. Will be back! HOWEVER. The location of this place is a PAIN. Next to an extremely busy road you'd need to make an unprotected left turn. And good luck getting Houston drivers to make room out of the kindness in their hearts. If you take the back roads, there's a train track. And our luck was terrible bc in avoiding the busy road, we ran into a giant train crossing. It took us 20 minutes of traffic to get here and we live super close. So be mindful. The food and vibes are worth it. Just don't go during rush hour dinner (even on weekdays)!! It's near a police station so you'll probably see cops and firefighters eating here too.

I love fried chicken - always have from those days growing up when Popeye's still served dirty rice. I also love hot chicken since I had Hattie B's in Nashville. My first introduction to Tumble 22 was for a friend's birthday. We were out and still hungry, so we went here. Even better that it's close to home. Parking is limited to under 20 spots - on the side and towards Center Street which is dimly lit at night. The Houston Ave. location has plenty of table seating and a large bar area. Service was great for a group of six people. We asked our server if the manager could sing happy birthday for our friend. He actually came out, brought a Texas pecan pie and we all sang. It was good, but I ordered the chocolate cream pie which was phenomenal. I ordered dirty fries which had pulled white chicken, queso and pickles. It was ok, but I thought the chicken was a little dry cut up, and the fries weren't that great. Would work better with fat fries than skinny with all the toppings. Since then, I've had their chicken bites and mac-n-cheese at an event at the zoo for Feasts with the Beasts. The Mac-n-cheese was so memorable that I also ordered twice from the Houston Ave. location. This time I tried the 2 pc boneless thighs and then 1/4 dark and upgraded for two thighs instead of a thigh and leg. The hot was good enough for me and had great flavor. I like spicy chicken or spicy food in general but not at the expense of losing my taste and having everything taste bitter. The bread it comes with gets soaked in that spicy oil. I'm not a fan of the bread-n-butter pickle because it's sweet. I prefer sour pickles. I highly recommend the dark meat over white. The chicken was hot, juicy and had crispy skin. The 1/4 dark bone-in thigh was large, and they didn't skimp on the size when I upgraded the leg for it. The boneless thighs were just as good even though the pieces were smaller. It was still filling. Both times I chose the mac-n-cheese. With the 1/4 dark combo, you get two sides, so I doubled up. The cheese is so good. It's a white, thick cheese over cavatappi spiral pasta. Eventually, I'll try the sandwiches. The O.G., Lil' O.G., and The Southern sound appealing. There's also milkshakes, salads, deviled eggs, and chicken Korean style with gochujang. If you like homemade pies, hot chicken (can also get it without spice) and mac-n-cheese, check them out! Btw, when you dine in, you can get a stamp card for a free meal up to $15 off after 10 stamps.

This is honestly the juiciest chicken I think ive ever had in my life. It's so good. Been here multiple times and each time the chicken is consistently delicious. The staff is always friendly and the drinks are pretty good also. But the star here is without a doubt the chicken. Will continue to return here

Ok. This is the 2nd time and I'm confirming a few facts. Tumble 22 tastes so great ! Yes, it's franchise and it's consistent ! At least for the two times I've visited. For first timers, please announce yourselves. Your server will grant you a sampler of chicken and spice levels + sides. You want to stay alive with mild spicy or you want to try they "stupid hot" level, at your own risk! But our first server, Hung, gave us suchhhhh a great first impression and so hyped that this lasted ever since. His level of energy is kinda rare these days. The second time, I wanted to see how quick I'd lose my taste. Our server did not hesitate to give us a sampler of that "dang hot" level. Glad I did because I was not enjoying food anymore. "hot" or "mo hot" is definitely a good spice point. I'm weak. They serve beers on draft or not, N/A beers if you're into that, cocktails and other type of alcohol. But soda or water is good too! Food is delicious and fresh. Fries are crispy. Sides are super fun to have. A slight sense of healthy with the broccoli lol. They have this whole dessert menu that's intimidating me. Pies and milkshakes. How do people fit this after so many goodies beforehand ? I'm still curious, maybe one day. I enjoyed the whole vibe and friendliness of the place. Definitely adding this as a fun casual spot to hang out at .

Overall a mid chicken experience. I appreciate they have the first time sampler plate but after that we really lowered our expectations. We considered leaving but were just so hungry. The deviled eggs were prettt decent. The chicken really didn't have much flavor and then the sprinkle hotness on top wasn't flavorful just hot. The pickles and buns were good tho. Had the 1/4 dark meat (drum and a thigh) with double side of greens. The chicken was delicious. Good flavor and the chicken was moist and crispy breading. Various levels of heat available. The wimpy heat level was perfect for me. The greens were also erfectly seasoned with a touch of spice. No bitterness that greens sometimes have. Our server Mattie kept out beverages topped off and she had a wonderful personality. Great service. Highly recommend this place but make sure you're not in a hurry because the chicken is made when it is ordered so it takes about 12-15 minutes but so worth the wait. read more

We arrived late like 9:00pm and were seated right away. The service was excellent and we were well cared for. The chicken was hot and fresh and our drink were great. The food was something I will come back for. I liked the deviled eggs as well. I will say, the entire street is under construction so it was hard to park and get there. I hope they can make it long enough with the construction because it really was just a fun place to go hang out. the ambiance was very much like a canes/fast food restaurant. That being said, it was clean and it hit the spot. read more

The chicken and spice are soooo good and on point but the Mac n cheese keeps me coming back! It's so creamy and tasty. Service has been great when I go in. I've ordered pickup a couple times and sauces are left out so I'd just double check before leaving. Inside has a great ambiance. It's laid back and a nice place to eat and hang out. The waitress got my drink and then passed me off to another waitress. That waitress asked if I'd ever been there before. I said no, and she disappeared. It took forever for her to return, while I was sitting there waiting to order. She came by and said my platter was almost ready. I said I hadnt ordered a platter. Apparently she took it upon herself to order me a sampler platter without asking. I said i didnt want it and gave her my order. She returned with the sampler platter and I had to turn it down again. She said I could take it to go for free, but I had Jury duty around the corner so again I declined hoping the food I actually ordered would come soon. Finally got my food and it was aight. I asked for the check halfway into the meal because I had to get back to the court. She brought a card device as I pulled out cash. She said they dont accept cash. Never going there again. read more

I've been here a number of times now and the food is always excellent. They offer several spice levels or no spice to satisfy any taste. Their sides are nothing fancy but are still good. They have their deserts on display in a refrigerated glass case which I feel is a mistake. They just do not look appetizing at all. ‍ The space is inviting, they have a nice bar, clean bathrooms, and good service. Prices are very reasonable as well. What else could you want? read more

I've been here a handful of times, but definitely going to keep returning! The food is so good, the chicken was juicy, the spice was flavorful (not just spicy). The fries are crispy, and salted to perfection, and they also offer vegan alternatives. The service was great, had an excellent experience the times I've been. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. I'm not sure how to describe it, it's rustic but a nice touch. Almost like Burger Joint design with a little of an old fashioned diner. Great price, and I cannot wait until I come back to get some more chicken. I recommend the OG sandwich or Jumbo Chicken Tenders. They have 5 spice levels if i remember correctly and a no spice option. read more

I've been hooked on Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken for ALL the years since the Washington Ave one opened some years back...but then I let a friend talk me into trying this newer place 1 or 1.5yrs ago called Tumble 22 Hot Chicken which is "Texas Born & Breaded Hot Chicken" & FOLKS LISTEN...I was FLOORED! I had NO IDEA fried chicken could be AS PERFECT as that, w/its super crunchy, not too greasy, thick & mind alteringly DEEEEEEElish CRUST (I'm sweatin' just THINKING ABOUT IT its so goooooood! Like, THEIRS @ Tumble 22 is the kinda fried chicken that's "SO GOOOOOD it makes u wanna SLAP YO' MAMA" as the old saying goes. FACT. & it DOES, too...but don't do it or yo' Mama might knock out ur teeth & THEN how u gonna eat?!! It is HONESTLY THE MOST DELICIOUS fried chicken I have ever buried my teeth in...& I must admit...it pushed Gus' off their pedestal. Granted, there ARE things ABOUT Gus' that I love & miss, so I return there when my fried okra requirements get too overwhelming. Gus' makes THE BEST fried okra to date. Tumblr 22 Hot Chicken doesn't serve okra, unfortunately...but ALLLLLLLL the other sides kinda make up for it I guess. Lemme tell yall what to expect @ your 1st visit eating @ Tumble 22 Hot Chicken: 1IF it's your 1st time there (& if they forget to ask, TELL EM!) They'll wait to take the table's orders til the new ppl get a chance to sample their fare. On the sampler plate you will find 6 big bites of chicken; to allow you to determine your desired "heat level", & they offer levels: Painless, Hot, Mo' Hot, Dang Hot, Cluckin' Hot & Stupid Hot, this is NOT THE PLACE to try & show how tough you are b/c you may get your tastebuds BURNED OUTTA YOUR HEAD if you do! Their top levels are a WHOLE OTHER ANIMAL than what most humans are used to so tread lightly is my advice. No doubt some will ignore me, tho. Good luck to those not-too-bright folks. I'll pray for y'all when you're gasping for air. And don't skip over the side samples b/c they are AMAZING! The Broccoli Salad...WHO KNEW - THAT- could be SO YUMMY?!!! I didn't...but IT IS! AND their Mac & Cheese makes me wonder how often I can eat it b4 it clogs up everything...AND to debate that it very well may be WORTH IT! It's THAT CrAzY DELICIOUS! & im not even a Mac & Cheese kinda gal, typically.,.but their's...I gotta stop. I'm starting to perspire again imagining I had a bite RN! Their greens...deeeelish! Ranch Beans, Coleslaw...also delicious! Only side I've NOT tried are their fries...but I'm not a big "fries"-kinda person. ‼LAST ITEM YOU MUST TRY (but it's not on the sample plate), are their damned Heavenly Eggs = a whole different level of deviled egg that, once again, makes your hand draw back when your mom comes to mind, but I'll say it AGAIN...you prolly don't wanna do that w/your hand & her face. It won't behoove anyone. 2Orders have been placed w/their seemingly ALWAYS DAMNED GOOD LOOKIN' WAITERS, who are always very pleasant even when I've walked in @ 10mins to close, & insisted I did NOT need to get it to go...AND REMAINED friendly & provided great service throughout, AS ALWAYS! The wait for your meal may feel loooong, but I PROMISE it's not! To date, it's always been UNDER a 15min wait for the delicious food! And once they sit your meal b4 you... THE HEAVENS WILL OPEN UP & THE ANGELS ARE SINGING THE "HALLELUJAH CHORUS" (that could be just a private performance tho...not sure) as you sink your teeth into the tenderest, juiciest fried chicken, spiced to YOUR PERFECT LEVEL, that it's likely you have EVERRRRR had! & I never can eat EVEN HALF my plate =TOMORROW's LUNCH woooooop WOOOOOOOP! Yet STILL, every time, I canNOT GET OUT w/out taking a slice of PERFECTLY SWEET & TART Key Lime Pie, home w/me & @ some point during that night, I KNOW that pie will harass me from the fridge until I finally get up & eat it, WHEW! And th-th-th-th-THAT'S ALL FOLKS! Note: YES there are other items I've not mentioned as I've yet to try them, but the only meat besides the piece of sweet bacon topping off the Heavenly Eggs...is ONLY fried chicken but listen, my 27y/o son hates fried chicken, but I convinced him to try Tumble 22 last week...& needless to say; he no longer hates fried chicken...@ least NOT Tumble 22's! He was TRULY surprised! So if you or your family thinks they're a hater of the fried bird, tell em I said: TRUST ME...just give it ONE SHOT. Guess where I'm gonna have to go eat for lunch or dinner today lol! Hell, it's shy of 6AM right now but IF THEY WERE OPEN NOW...that's where I'd be after thinking about their food all this time! DAAAAMN Tumble 22's Hot Chicken will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF! Enjoy! read more

it has become a hobby of mine to check out different hot chicken places and this one is near the top of my list. i wouldn't say it's a typical hot chicken place but that's what's so special. the first time i went we got a free sampler platter of 3 of the different levels of hot chicken and a few different sides. the beans were over all my favorite but its so hard to pick because all of the sides taste so homemade and delicious. i usually order the kids tender meal with a regular side of beans because ive found that's enough food for me. i've brought family and friends here and we've all been impressed with the flavor of the food. the restaurant has a nice vibe to it with all of the decor and decorations. there definitely is a change of pace for service speed with lunch vs dinner but nothing outrageous since they're both pretty quick. read more

Visiting from Alabama and heard alot about this place so I decided to try it. The chicken doesn't have a good taste even after ordering the hot flavor) I had to order a side of hot honey because it was so bland. The greens were ok, but weren't seasoned as well. The devil eggs were ok, but the candied bacon on top makes it better. The lemonade was good, but I was so disappointed in my visits after hearing rave reviews. read more

This food was so dang good! Three boneless chicken breasts that were crispy and juicy. Just the right amount of heat. Tasted just like homemade. Broccoli salad incredibly delicious, with the surprising sweetness of golden raisins, to balance out everything. No pictures to share because I ate it up too quickly. My GF and I visited Tumble22. We were greeted by friendly staff. They were very informative about the food and building. They took great care of us and were very attentive. I had collard greens for the first time and they were amazing!! We each got a different kind of chicken sandwich with no spice. The flavor was fantastic! It was a pleasant atmosphere with good music playing. My GF was introduced into to sweet tea and loved it. We were thinking about going to Chick Filet and we're so glad we ate at Tumble 22. I highly recommend Tumble 22! read more

This place is terrible. Went to the relatively new store near Memorial City. Service was the absolute worst. Took 30 minutes to receive order, which was wrong, then had to wait another 30 minutes for replacement.. Meanwhile, I think we had one drive-by to refill our drinks. It wasn't at all busy, so that's no excuse. Then the 'boneless' chicken sandwich delivered had all the bones still in it. That was a very unpleasant surprise. I get that they are new, but they could not get one thing right. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Great atmosphere, fast curious service, and delicious food! Cluckin' hot has a good burn without making eating uncomfortable. Sandwiches are good sized without feeling like shoving an overwhelming tower into my mouth. Fries are very similar to McDonald's fries in taste and texture. Very friendly staff and good conversation. I placed a To-Go order, Caesar salad with Dang Hot Chicken Breast. The Dang Hot is not hot at all and wish I would have went at least 1-level hotter. The food was good, so no complaints. Ordered a Long Island, and it was too much sweet sour, but other than that it was decent. I will return and do recommend this location. read more

This was my lunch date spot with my husband and it was a nice modern spot. I would say the thing that took a little away was when you first walk in, it's a little confusing since you don't know if to sit down or wait to be seated. The waiter, who by the way was amazing and very helpful with suggestions, was doing it all on his on. He would great the people coming in when he could, sit them and wait on them. The manager or owner was sitting most of the time just talking not helping him. We ordered the dang hot tenders, with the dirty fires, Mac and cheese, and the pecan shake. These platters come with your choice of two sides - we went for the Fried Cauliflower, Tabouli Salad, Hummus, and Muhammara. The meats were so good and hit the spot. The Kofta Kabob had a complexity of flavor to it; so many spices that blended together really well. I will say that the post-meal burps of these spices were...smellier than usual. The Chicken Kabob was also flavorful and had a nice smokiness to it from the grill. I liked the slight crunch provided by the char along the edges. If I knew how to make chicken like this, it would be my daily meal prep! The Fried Cauliflower had a nice sear to it with lots of flavor. The "hot" chicken had just the right amount of heat, while the "mo' hot" adds a lingering kick. I'm not a fan of super spicy foods, but if you are, definitely try the "mo' hot" or higher! I opted for the Big Larry, a sweet yet strong drink that was surprisingly delicious and packed a punch--especially for the price.
