Let me start by saying our waitress was great. We had Saturday brunch and absolutely nothing was prepared correctly. The rare hamburger was supposed to be well done - not raw. My breakfast burrito was ordered without Chili's or jalapeño peppers, and it was a mess with extra peppers and chili sauce. Our vegetable soup was cold and an edible. Love! I was here last week and it was great! The menu has great dishes with a twist! I had the "light my fire" burger and it was delicious!! It was also the favorite of our waitress, so I knew it was going to be good. When I hear the staff talk about the food, I usually take their recommendations. If they work there, they should know the menu and know what is good. She recommendation the truffle fries as well. YES AND YES! Those were so tasty too! I had a glass of wine and my friend had a beer. We ended up sitting in our booth until it closed. We were the last people in the restaurant and they let us just sit there and talk. The service here is about as good as it gets for a lively, loud bar. The waitress was really patient with us as we were taking forever to figure out what to eat. I ordered the truffle burger and the juiciness/texture was great, but I felt the overall flavor was lackluster. What a charming little place. There were only one table on the terrace and we took it. My girlfriend and I were enjoying a Wednesday afternoon lunch. I ordered the spinach salad with walnuts, dried cranberries, blue cheese, red onions and aged balsamic dressing. I forgot to hold back the onions but I picked it aside. What can I say except the fact that it was high nutritive dish. I loved it. I ordered hummus as well, but I wasn't impressed. It tasted bland with my pita bread. My girlfriend had the Quinoa Lentil burger and she loved it. Our waiter also gave us some samples of their draft. I tried the sweet beer and the sweet and sour beer. Quite tempting but due to us sitting out on the terrace, alcohol cannot be served so we just had H2O. Will definitely be back for those drinks!! read more

Service, atmosphere, food, everything... nice. Today, the service was okay, even when we ordered an extra side, something seemingly simple, it didn't work. So we placed an additional order with the server, no problem, except, our server had an appearance of being on automatic, she said just what was expected , smiled, walked away and we got what we wanted from a different server and the runner. But for an inexpensive meal, wtf, right? There's plenty of places to eat around here if service is a matter of import to you. And it is to me so I will not be back. I was looking forward to a repeat visit to Tuning Fork tonight- been there 3 times before for good food and service. We've had the wings, Caesar salad, burgers, etc. Nice neighborhood place. Alas, after waiting at a table for 20 minutes tonight without even being asked if we wanted something to drink, my husband and I decided to leave. :( We did notice the lights were dimmer today than they've been before, so maybe they should turn the lights up a little so they see their customers. Well, I did always want to try Laurel Point, and they also have fish and chips, so here we are. Too bad my husband missed out on the vegan shepherds pie, I'm sure it would have been good. p.s. Ugh...such mixed feelings about this place. Easy fixes to make this place 5 stars..easy. I went here just last week with my family on a Monday night. Made a reservation very easily. This place would look like a place to have valet, especially since the parking situation is not good and there is only street parking. It took us 15 min to find parking. We finally got a spot right in front of the restaurant actually haha We got inside and the environment is great and the place is beautiful with a rustic feel with all wooden chairs and tables. We were greeted by a really nice server (wished he was our server for the night). Once seated, I turned around to see a stage in the corner... I didn't know about their open mic Mondays, but I will get back to this. We were seated and immediately were brought waters. 10 minutes later they came to take our drink order... *Mind you, we got there and it was pretty empty, but as the night went on, it started to crowd up* 5 minutes later our drinks came out. 10 minutes later they take our appetizer order. 30 minutes later our appetizer comes out IT'S BEEN ALMOST AN HOUR SINCE WE FINALLY GOT OUR APPETIZERS!!! The service was terrible. He barely came to our table. 95% of the time we had to flag him down! Even though the place was getting more crowded, he didn't seem busy as he was high-fiving and chit chatting with people at the bar. I knew food was going to take a bit longer at this place, so after waiting 10 minutes for our appetizers, I flagged down our waiter to order the entrees. The entrees came out 10 minutes after the appetizers...perfect timing on my part :) During our dinner the open mic started. This place is tiny and the speakers were way too big. I am all for open mics and know that not everyone is going to have the best performance, but the people who signed up were literally screaming into the mic. They could have taken the mic away from them, and they would have still been way too loud for this small restaurant. Only 5 minutes of relief when a girl with an angel voice came up and the whole restaurant was silent in awe with her voice. Now that I am done ranting, I would like to say that their food is absolutely amazing...Hands down 10 out of 10 great food. I was eating their vegan options (which there are a lot of vegan options), and that was even amazing. Feedback from my family who ate the non-vegan options say their food was also spectacular What we ordered (from what I remember): Apps - Cannellini Bean Hummus Cheese Plate Brussel Sprouts (special for the night) Roasted Baby Beet Salad Mains - TF Margherita Flatbread Wine Braised Short Rib Julienne Fries (Salty, but addicting) Salmon Tacos (also a special for the night) Truffled Mushroom Burger with the lentil quinoa (vegan) patty and substituted the goat cheese for vegan cheddar cheese Sweets - Only I partook in this because I can't have a meal without dessert haha I got the Vegan Gluten-Free Brownie which comes with Strawberry Coconut vegan gelato, and summer berries (strawberries, black berries, and rasberries) This is the only vegan dessert option. I really liked it, but I know this dessert can be too sweet and grainy (from the gluten free part) for some. The brownie also doesn't come like a brownie, more like a puddle of warm brownie batter (because it's gluten free haha) Again, I loved it, especially with the ice cream and the berries. Went to Tuning Fork for dinner on a Friday night. It really feels like an average LA Gastropub experience. Can't say we were necessarily blown away by anything, nor were we appalled by anything. We had two types of wings as starters. The sauce for the wings had good flavor but felt over cooked and very chewy. We also had the Fried Mac and Cheese Balls which were the highlight along with the truffle fries and chips. For the main course, we had the burgers which had really flavorful sauces but came out a bit dry (especially mine which I ordered 'medium'). I'd probably recommend ordering down one cooking temp for the burgers. The staff was friendly and there was a pretty decent selection of beers as well. The restaurant is a little on the smaller side which is nice for a more intimate dining experience with friends. read more

I had high hopes for this place since I have had some great places to eat in this same area but sadly I was not as impressed as I had hoped. Came here on a Tuesday at 7:30pm and my group of four was seated right away. We did the check in offer and got a free plate of fries which was really good. I ordered a Ktown mule and the fish and chips. My K-town Mule was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The fish and chips were a 6/10; way too oily for me but you could tell the fish was fresh. We ordered a bread pudding to share and I only had one bite because it was too bland for my liking. My cousin got the braised beef and it tasted great but not for that price. I'm generally and honestly not a person to complain or leave reviews, especially negative ones, but my service here yesterday evening was so poor that I felt that I had to. I went on a date and it was honestly the worst customer service that I've received at a restaurant since moving to Studio City. I had to get up on three separate occasions and go to the bar because our server would not come back to our table. He checked tables around us but would not come over to us. It was glaring and me and my date almost felt targeted. We asked for additional condiments, which we never received, additional drinks, and did not have napkins. It seems trivial but when your server checks the tables around you and seats new patrons, but does not come to check on you, it's noticeable. For each of those things, I had to get up myself and walk to the bar and ask. After the first instance the server apologized, and I assumed things would be better afterwards, but they were not. The burger itself was pretty good, though for the price I can't say it was worth it. The bartender was very, very pleasant, though I could tell that even he was confused as to why I was having to fetch napkins, refills, and condiments. I absolutely would not go back here or recommend it to anyone. I'm only giving two stars instead of one because of the bartender. read more

I'm def a fan of this spot. Discovered it on accident when Jones was closing up. We headed in and instantly loved the vibe. Friendly, not too jammed and nice chairs and benches. The tables are cool and its dark inside so you get a pretty private chill feeling. Speaking of the decor I have to give them shit on one thing. (Then I'll get to the food) Why the hell do you have two TV's over the bar? This isnt a sports bar, its a restaurant. I get that you have beer on tap and want a nice fun atmosphere, but two TVs next to eachother? This kills the whole experience for me and most that I've talked to. Sure you can look away from them, but they reflect on the windows and mirrors. Instead of having a nice chill meal, you're being bombarded by neon light and advertisements from whatever they have the channel on. I get that you're not gonna take them out, so put something else on the screen. Some old black and white flicks with low brightness, really anything. Hell, turn them off. Its an eye sore and distracts from the amazing food and great staff. Its bad enough that people are on their phone all the time, why do you need two TVs right next to eachother that can be seen everywhere in the spot? Now to the food... Its great. I mean truly great. I had the pulled pork sandwich and truffle fries. My friend had one of the salads and she loved it. The amount of food is perfect and the price is very reasonable. I was tempted with the desert, but we went with more wine instead. The beer and wine list is solid and offers a lot of range. You can find something for every meal pairing and even some random ones to try if you're adventurous. I highly recommend this place, just pray that if its night, the TV's are off! read more

Overall, the restaurant was pretty good. We ordered the hummus and the build your own burger. The hummus was interesting in that it had a little kick to it, which made it good. I was a little hesitant to order it given the restaurant serves American food, but glad I did. The burgers were actually very good...loved the bread as well as the patty as they season it pretty well. I'm giving this place four stars as the overall ambiance is a little sad (too dark inside) and it's kind of expensive given the type of food served. The island in me is always craving some Carribean flavors so i had to stop here. I guess ur better off ordering take out if u have more than 2 people with you right now. The jerk chicken was literally phenomenal! Since this isn't a traditional Jamaican restaurant or anything i was skeptical but it was really amazing. I asked my server if the chef could make the chicken a little more spicier than usual, as he told me it's not already really that spicy but more of a mild sweeter jerk season, but the added kick was really what i needed. The menu is diverse enough to cater to veganism and those seeking gluten-free options, but it doesn't do so at the expense of meat-heavy foods. Hoping this is an off day for you Tuning Fork. Service was the worst I have ever had in the SFV - bar none. It took over 10 minutes for someone to even ask what we would like to drink. Then I sat and watched as our waiter chatted with someone at the bar. Another 5 minutes later and we were the proud recipients of flat soda. We never saw our waiter again but twice - to bring one of our three plates and to drop off the bill. Another young gentleman came over with fries and we told him about the lack of carbonation in our carbonated drinks. He helped. Our water glasses were never filled - even though the bartender walked by us - twice and even once had a pitcher of water. We were told a plate consisted of a half chicken but it was a leg and thigh. No big deal. The kale was not clean - we both got sand in our mouth. Food was barely warm. When we asked for straws (we had cocktail stirrer straws in our tall glasses), we were told they were getting their patrons used to the straw ban. It isn't a straw ban. It's a plastic straw ban. If you are going to refuse the straws then at least make sure glasses are clean and don't offer smaller plastics straws that sink to the bottom of the flat tall glasses of soda. The guy at the table next to us ordered his dessert and check at the same time. Clearly a victim of this really off night. Not the only one - the woman next to us at another table waited at least 5 minutes to get the attention of a waiter to ask for... you got it. A sAnd the icing on the cake. A woman that appeared to be a hostess or manager - not one we immediately saw when we walked in - opened the shades to bathe my husband in sun. Didn't even bother to look his way or ask if it was fine. She went about shuffling chairs. We left a small tip and a long note. But it wasn't enough to kill my gross disappointment.
