I have been patronizing Turkish Delight since the 70's, I was a kid... then. In the heart of Pike Place Market or the Market as the locals call it! This is a family owned and run business and they treat everyone who comes into their restaurant like family! The meals are beyond delicious whether it is the chicken breast sandwich on pita bread or the meal, the lamb meal is so flavorful and oh the lentil soup warms your soul! The pistachio baklava is so sweet and delicious. I love the freshly made Turkish Delight...what a royal treat! The Turkish espresso will keep you on your toes, to me it was better than chain coffee establishments. During this time of Covid, small businesses are struggling, I love supporting businesses that have a wonderful product to offer. The family are kind people and so appreciative of your business. The off menu borek of the day was amazing! We took it to go and it reheated wonderfully! I can only imagine that it would have been top notch when served fresh! The woman at the counter was extremely kind and offered us very large samples of the lamb stew. I don't eat much lamb and don't particularly like it but this was amazing! If only we had more room in our bellies! An older woman came out of the kitchen while we were there and she was just as pleasant! I'm sad to go back to Portland and not know where to find this beautiful gastronomy. It's definitely a must the next time we are back in Seattle. read more

This restaurant is considered as halal. The owners are muslims, and so friendly. This place is in a nice location. Not a lot of choices but we had chicken borek and chicken doner kebabs. 1- The chicken borek is really delicious, homemade. I think this is a must meal in this restaurant. 2- The chicken doner kebabs is light and tasty. Really big sandwich that you can't eat it appropriately. I think one main disadvantage is the size of the restaurant is small. I don't know much about the prices here but i think its okay in that term. read more

I have been coming here for a long time, this review is long overdue. I love this place. I love the owners, they are so sweet and grateful. The few selections they have are all great! They run out of the burekas pretty quick but it's the chicken doner kebab and lentil soup that I come back for. Both are very filling, so it's always hard to decide which one to order. The lentil soup is the best I've had and I ALWAYS add the chicken. They give you a side of warm pita, very satisfying. When they aren't busy I get the Turkish coffee and sometimes I treat my self to some sweet delights. being a local, I come during the week, since the market can be crazy on the weekends. Hidden gem of Pike Place!!! We spontaneously stopphere for some Turkish delight with my Bulgarian boyfriend and got an assortment of flavors, the Turkish coffee, and lentil soup. All of it was absolutely incredible, and the definite favorite for me was the Turkish coffee! Best coffee I've ever had in my life! I worked down near Pike Place Market in the 2000s and came to love Turkish Delight. I now work 10ish blocks away and will make special trips up to have simply the best Turkish Doner Kabobs in the country (i've tested!). I would take a picture of my kebab, but it is not gone with a satsifying tingle on my tongue. However, the baklava and rose turkish delight dessert is still awaiting my palate. To the side, the charming owners are chatting with a few software developers and giving them a sample of her famous turkish delight. I am sitting in the corner watching over the tourists in the market. Relaxing and authentic. Can't say enough about this place, its local, its a bit funky, its specialized, its historic, and it is delicious. I brought some friends through and had lunch here a few years ago and they couldn't stop talking about it - now they live in Crete and look forward to coming back to Turkish Delight in the market. read more

Phenomenal lamb stew. It's New Year's Eve in the year of Covid 2020. We decided to walk near the water today. We stumbled upon this restaurant not far from Pike Place. I was born and raised in the Middle East and let me tell you this lamb stew is absolutely awesome. Lamb is made into almost a kafta kabob inside the stew. Then your mouth stumbles on eggplant, okra, tomato, and at the bottom, saffron rice. The cumin and cinnamon make themselves known, but they are not overwhelming whatsoever. It's hearty, warm, and incredibly flavorful which is perfect for a cold and windy Seattle day. read more

This is a small restaurant serving delicious food, operated by the sweetest family you may ever meet in Seattle. Samra, the restaurant's founder and owner for 37 years, knows my name and makes good conversation whenever I come in, even if it's been a few weeks since I last ate there. Her husband is the main chef, and her daughter usually works there too. I like the lamb stew (the recipe changes every day based on chef's choice and what ingredients are available) or the chicken kebab, with pistachio baklava for dessert. I'm not sure you can go wrong with anything though, all the food I've had there has been good. Make sure to bring cash, as they don't take credit. But if you forget, they will happily let you eat first, and then go get cash from an atm in the market. They're sweet that way. read more

This place was like hidden gem to me. It was hidden in plain eye sight. I went in here on a day where every restaurant was crowded and this place was less crowd comparatively. I absolutely enjoyed every bite of it. Warm and cozy and had that home cook feel. Flavors were exactly right. Their turkish delight were a true delicacy and not over powering with flavors. The spiced aroma literally drew me in from down the street. Upon entering this restaurant I was greeted by the sweetest little lady who welcome me in and offered samples. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Oh can't forget the delicious pistachio baklava to seal off the visit right!!! The lady owner served me their traditional Turkish Espresso I've bn dying to taste and wow was so it worth it! It was so smooth and soothing ... plus, i got for FREE because my friend that I was w/ goes there regularly so that was a really nice gesture of the owner (and thank u cuz it surely benefitted me lol!!). Stopped by for a quick snack and ordered the a pistachio baklava after seeing everyone on Yelp raving about it. I enjoyed the first couple of bites--there was a hint of rose combined with the pistachio; however, beyond that, I found the pastry far too sweet. Definitely a solid way to satisfy your sweet tooth, if you have one, but I'm more of a savory person so I'll pass on this the next time and perhaps try one of the boreks instead. It seems the Rebellion has taken some time off for the Christmas holiday, which has left me with some free time. As such, I decided to knock out some more of the Seattle Foodie 100 list (I'd link to it, but the Facebook app has mysteriously stopped working. My guess is sabotage. That damn Yoda and his pranks...). I took the Deathstar downtown to grab some chowder from Pike Place Chowder. Immediately upon leaving the ship and purchasing a parking receipt, a huge gust of wind came by and did 2 things: First, it blew my helmet right off of my head. My apologies to the motorists on 2nd Ave that were about to run over it that I had to Force Crush. Sorry, but that helmet is custom made. Your deaths are justified. The second thing that happened was that the parking receipt blew out of my hand, forcing me to buy another one. I could hear Yoda chortling in the wind. I knew he was behind it. That bastard. Anyhow, since I was paying double for parking, I decided to knock out a few items at once, one of which are the Turkish delights from....Turkish Delight. It's a little shop located at the edge of the stores that run across the street from the market. Very low key, you can almost miss it. Upon entering, the first thing that happens is you are assailed by the smell. The smell of AWESOMENESS. Seriously, that might be the best smelling place in the area. My original intent was to use The Force to make the lady behind the counter give me the food for free, but she was so charming and disarming, I forgot my evil plot. She went to great lengths to explain everything they had for sale, and to point out how it's all baked fresh each day, etc. etc. etc. They had some hot pocket looking things that looked positively heavenly, but the object of my desires were the cotlets...erm, the Delights. They come in assorted flavors: Orange, Peach, Strawberry, Rose, one other one I can't recall. Perfectly dusted in some sort of powder. These things are as authentic as it gets. I've eaten these little treats while in Turkey before, and the ones here in Seattle are just as good. They are perfectly gummy and flavorful without being too sweet, just the right size for a good solid bite, and just all around spectacular. One of each type ran me a grand total of $3.75. A bargain no matter where you are, so I bought 2 so that I could half eat the 2nd set, and then when they're all nice and sticky, throw them into Chewbacca's fur. I hate that giant rat. I'm docking it a point because they don't accept credit cards, which was a bit of a problem. The Empire believes in plastic. Do you have any idea how embarassing it is for someone of my power to have to go digging through my codpiece trying to find spare change? And don't say "But Darth, go find an ATM". Those ATM fees are outrageous. I know Vegas bookies that charge less vig. Anyhow, point is, those delights are delightful. Go buy a bunch of them. Tomorrow. Do it. I remember coming here as a wide-eyed 8 year old -- fresh from just reading the "Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe" and excited to taste this mystical, magical treat. My father held my hand leading me through the market and up to the counter while I stared mouth agape at the pink and orange hued goodies. I remember excitedly popping a piece in my mouth... and being instantly disappointed. I hated it. It had nuts in it and "tasted groddy." My Dad happily ate the rest and I pouted all the way back home... I'm happy to say my taste-buds have developed since then to actually like nuts and more subtly-sweet snacks. Im also happy this place is still there to offer me so many flavors of turkish delight to keep me forever indecisive and coming back whenever the mood or a particular bout of nostalgia hits me. read more

I have to say, I really really like this place. The owner was super nice and accommodating. And the food was good. We tried several flavors of Turkish Delight (originally known as Lokum, it's a confection made with some gel or starch and sugar and flavored by rose water or other similar things). Think Aplets & Cotlets. The flavors we tried were rose (good), licorice (interesting and good), lemon (just ok) and one other one I cannot remember the name of (but didn't care much for). What a Turkish delight, alright! When you think Pike, do you associate it with good authentic foods at good prices? Not so much... but this is what Turkish Delight is! Everything from their perfectly made wraps to their baklava is delicious and perfect! Wraps you have a large assortment of meats and veggies you can put inside. My favorite by far is the lamb - cut into just the right size and is warm when you take a bite, the lamb aroma just fills your nasal cavities. Kabobs are very well done, not too dry and perfectly cooked (you know what I mean... dry chicken is terrible). Goes great with a steaming hot bowl of soup (try the lentil soup)! After trying their savory dishes, be sure to leave room for dessert because they hav the BEST baklava in town as well as some killer good turkish delights. Baklava is super flaky and not overly-sweet. Turkish delights are chewy, flavorful and you know it's bad for you... but you just want more and more! Service is nice and food is quick. You're slammed with a warmth of pungent spices that make you forget about Turkish Delight chewy candies and your stomach growls and you didn't even know you were hungry. We went in as a group of four and decided we were hitting Pike Place for snacks and yummies - - nothing as a major meal; I was showing my younger brother the city. When we saw the boreks, we decided we must have one. I always ask what I should try despite what I *think* sounds good on the menu, and did the same thing at Turkish Delight. The woman behind the counter suggested the borek (fillo filled pastry) with chicken and mushrooms. Our group piled up on a few of the Turkish Delights and one chicken and mushroom borek. By the time we were done, we all agreed we would like to eat seven more boreks. Or nine. Who is to say how Turkish Delight candy is supposed to taste? None of us in our group knows. But if this is it - - we're fans! You can tell everything is handmade here. That gets my vote...and my stars....and my return...and my borek dollars. read more

I was introduced to this place 2 weeks ago and I've already eaten here 4 times. I have yet to try the actual Turkish Delights but I'm not big on candy anyway. The lentil soup has a very exotic flavor - I detect cumin and mint with a little bit of chili pepper heat. Get it with extra spice. The pitas are warm, soft and buttery tasting. The Chicken Doner Kebab is also fragrant with mint and cumin and wrapped in the same buttery pita - pricey at 11.75 a piece but you could split it with someone along with a cup or bowl of soup and have a perfect meal. I have heard that they make a Turkish "chili" of sorts in the fall/winter so I'm looking forward to trying that when it becomes available. read more

After attending the Chocolate Festival at the Bell Harbor center, my girlfriend and I decided to stop in to Turkish Delight and get a quick bite to eat. We wanted to share a beef doner kebab, but they were all out of the beef, so we ordered a chicken doner kebab. The place was kind of crowded and only one person was working so our food took a while. When we got the kebab, it was underwhelming (given the many high reviews on Yelp). The chicken was dry and bland, and nothing else inside of the kebab was exceptional. Maybe the Turkish Delight is good, but I didn't get it because I'm not a fan of it. When I was younger and saw the Chronicles of Narnia, I thought that Turkish Delight must taste incredible because Edmund sold out his siblings for it. I tried some as soon as I could, and was incredibly disappointed. Maybe the point of the story is that he didn't need much incentive to betray them. Digression over. I go here about once a week. I get an off the menu salad of a Chicken Doner Kebab salad with extra spice. It is definitely 2 meals... or a meal for 2... or 1 meal for a pregnant lady... or, well, you get the point. It's super duper yummy and satisfies cravings for all things fresh, savory, chickeny, and a little spicy. I also love their boreks (little veggie, meat, cheese filled pastries).
