A breakfast/brunch favorite of mine. The skillets are great, the coffee and tea are fabulous! My only suggestion would be to have a a gluten free menu. For those non allergy people the french toast and pancake options look to die for! This place is great for families, but is crowded on the weekends, so get there early! read more

I arrived at the Turning Point of Manalapan last Wednesday at 12:00 noon with my boyfriend and his 86 year old grandmother. We were told we would be waiting 20 minutes to be seated. Two women complained to the manager about wanting to be seated and they took a booth which fit 4 people that was being prepared for my boyfriend, his grandmother, and I. A kind waiter apologized for his manager's action and told us there is another table being prepared for us. But it gets worse; ANOTHER woman and her friend start complaining to the manager about being seated and the manager gave away our table AGAIN. We did not get seated until 1pm. We waited an hour to be seated because the manager granted complaining customers seats they were not applicable for. I feel the manager at the Turning Point provided terrible customer service. Also, in addition to the terrible customer service experience; my turkey melt sandwich was cold and tasted like it was sitting in the refrigerator for 3 hours. read more

Went here for my mom's birthday last Sunday and had also been a few other times in the past. The service is great, we went at around 9:30 am on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The server was happy and helpful. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was absolutely delicious! The rest of my family was happy as well. However, it had been the first time we had gone there since Summer 2013 where we had a bad experience. Depends on how busy the restaurant is and what time of day you go, but the service and food is usually incredible. Love its location as well- near Target, the library, and Wegmans. On the occasion of my 300+ meal at Turning Point Manalapan, (TPM), I thought I have gathered enough information to comment about the restaurant. Okay, if you read comments from others about TPM, the main negative is the wait time for tables. That comment is legitimate and frustrates many hungry patrons. Obviously, weekends are the busiest especially during brunch times. The waiting area is small and tight, and although there is enough seating for about nine people, sometimes it can have the feel of being on a rush hour subway in New York. Additional seating is provided outdoors during the warmer weather. TPM provides complimentary coffee for adults and Cheerios for the youngsters to help get through the wait. And Marshalls is next door. Wait times can be as long as 45 minutes and the hostess time estimates are usually pretty accurate, but I have occasionally been surprised by a shorter seating time. I would suggest a "call ahead" to get your name on the list before you arrive, and then just check in with your party. My perspective on this is that if the restaurant was just another diner type restaurant, why would there consistently be lines and wait times? Why would people constantly put up with the wait? There must be a reason, and that reason is the food and the service. The menu is a diverse mix of well prepared lunch, breakfast foods and beverage items that awaken the taste buds and are pretty moderately priced. There are some specialty beverages that are slightly above moderate pricing, but all portions of food and beverages are generous. Whether it is a stack of pancakes, or an "Ironman egg white omelet" from the healthier choices, the food is always hot, well prepared and tasty. Pancakes were named by APP as top 5 in Monmouth County. There are also house specials and gluten free items on the menu. The Cuban sandwich and full monte are special. There are lots of eclectic menu items for those who like experimenting and experiencing different combinations of foods. The service is great and all of the servers are well schooled on the menu choices and can be asked for recommendations. They are polite, smiling, helpful and speedy. They check on you occasionally, but are never annoying. Andrew runs the counter section with speed and efficiency. The operations of the the restaurant is handled by two hard working managers who on many occasions roll up there sleeves and help clear tables, sweep up fallen food and spills. They are both very professional, friendly and work the room greeting patrons, seating people and sharing conversation. If there is a problem with the food, they are quick to make amends. They take pride in their work and it reflects on the customers. The restaurant is a family friendly neighborhood spot that has developed a great many "regulars" and it may get loud on occasion due to an open seating plan. Despite the many customers, the restrooms are clean and maintained. Oh, one last thing, try the french toast. Worth waiting for! read more

The place is really small and located inside a strip mall unlike some of the other locations. Upon entering, you feel like you're in a nice country-side or beachfront place. The restaurant itself is pretty small, as I said, but comforting. I had (forgot the name!) some sort of corn bread benedict with chorizo- IT WAS AMAZING. Also had smore's hot chocolate. My friend ordered a tea and they give you rock candy stick to use as sugar. This place is really cute and delicious! read more

On my recent visit to the Turning Point I was disappointed in the the looks of the restaurant the servers appearance and the ambience which was less than up to par. The restaurant looked run down the floor looks like it hasnt been cleaned or shined in a long time. As the food goes it was good. Can not get anymore on point when looking for a good breakfast/brunch/lunch place. Everything on the menu is good, and I mean EVERYTHING. You can taste the freshness of the food. You are literally unable to order a dish that will taste bad, you just have to find the dish you like the most. Have to say I was a little disappointed when they changed their wrap section. This location features a call ahead option. However it is the most ridiculous system ever. We called ahead for a party of 2 and were told 40 minutes. When we arrived later the wait was now 30-35 minutes the hostess said that the wait time was subject to change due to your check in time. I thought the point of call ahead was call put your name on the list and shorten your wait. Apparently not at turning point. Not worth the wait at all, head to a local diner for better quality and service. read more

Very OK. Did not meet my expectations and was overpriced. My Eggs Benedict had little to no sauce. With tip out the door was almost $20.

I go there every Monday morn for breakfast. I love the garden frittata. Their salsa is the best. I buy some for home once in a while.

If you don't constantly talk to the hostess, you will never get a table. She told us 30- minute wait, we wait in the restaurant the whole time, but end up of with that she erase my name when I check it again after 30 minutes! Unfair and terrible experience!! Also, a waitress kept on asking if we want order more or can she take away our plate even we still working on our food. The food is too salty for my taste. read more

The popeye skillet is perfection and I crave it every weekend! I recommend getting a fancy espresso drink if you want something sweet. It's a bit sticky and a little loud, but in a breakfast/lunch place that's to be expected. read more

Lucky for me, my son and I happened to be in Manalapan near lunch time. I could not wait to let my son at the ripe age of 7 to experience a really good meal (not prepared my Mommy) At 11:30 am on Saturday the Turning Point was busy. I manuvered my way past several unmovable patron at the front desk to the counter where we sat at two empty chair. My son ordered grilled cheese while I had my usual Chiclen Pesto Panni with a cup of their delicious creamy sweet corn chowder. My son really enjoyed his first counter meal and told our friendly waitress how much he enjoyed his meal. I swear I could have lunch there seven days a week and still walk out happy. Their food is so fresh, real plump chicken breast (not that thin pounded tough chicken breast that other places serve) and all of their soups are just as good as my own. I have been addicted to The Turning Point ' s menu for some time now. BUT, I am spoiled by my particular location near me. I recently had to do business in the Manalapan area off of route 9 and decided to stop in and grab a bite for lunch. I was she'll shocked. I usually sit at the bar to get in and out quickly. The server took his time getting me set up and to take my order. He kept talking to the other servers, etc. While I was waiting patiently, I began to look around and noticed how unkempt th3 bar area looked. There were coffee grinds all over the counter, food particles/crumbs still not wiped up. AND to top this off, the eating counter wasn't cleaned up and set up for new customers; this while the place was only filled to half capacity! I mus t be spoiled by my location. Chairs are all aligned up after each customer leaves and.a setting at each chair that is clean. Servers that make personal chit chat with customers, and a feeling that your business is appreciated. I guess the saying is true that 'your business is only as good as your employees'. Wish I didn't feel a need to post this message. read more

Wow! This place is WAY overrated! I am shocked that there is a huge wait and so many good reviews here. We tried this place strictly based on the Yelp reviews. I got combo sandwiches, the full Monty and the Cuban. Both were incredibly bland and the 5 tortilla chips that came with the sandwiches were stale. My son got pancakes and complained that they were dry. I confirmed that they indeed were dry. My wife's eggs were also dry and came with a side of brown avocados. Service was mediocre. Our order did not come out at the same time. My daughter had a side of sausage that came out 10 minutes after the rest of the meals came out. Our pitcher of water was empty mid way through our meal and never refilled. Why two stars? I didn't pay a fortune for a mediocre meal, their prices are reasonable. That said, we won't be back, even if we are offered a comp meal to persuade us to change our review..... Sorry. Don't worry though, you have a long wait to get in so you will do fine without us. read more
