Clean and comforting is correct! I ordered the number 9 Pho Ga, chicken noodle soup and G, fresh spring rolls, with grilled pork and shrimp. The service was stellar, thank you to the server for recommending these popular dishes. They also pointed out that I could do a half-order of the spring rolls which was perfect since I was eating by myself. The appetizer was nice with the peanut sauce, well made. The pho is northern style so it is not spicy. Definitely different than what I'm used to, but it was still refreshing and healing. The chicken was cooked well and chunky. I do prefer the usual flavorful broth, but I'm happy I tried this northern style pho. I look forward to trying more of the menu next time, maybe a rice plate or banh mi.

SO GOOD. Came after a long night out as a classic hangover soup, and of course, it was amazing!! pricey for sure, $20 for bowl!! not sure if it's totally worth it, but maybe as a one and done. waiters were chill and it was very nice on the inside.

Visited on a Monday around 6pm with a friend, a few other guests seated through the restaurant but plenty of open spots so quickly grabbed a table. Food: Pho Ga - solid, clear light broth with a touch of chicken fat, lots of chicken aroma, served with jalapeno and lime on the side, scallions and cilantro added a bit of fresh herb flavor, very lightly seasoned, I dressed it up with a bit of vinegar and fish sauce which our server recommended. Noodles were slippery and tender, good silky texture, chicken meat was generous with a nice tender texture, we got the large size and it was quite hearty Grilled pork bang mi - okay, crisp baguette with a nice light texture, a light amount of mayo, pickled veggies and cilantro, grilled pork was a bit small in portions, good grilled flavor with a touch of savory garlic and fish sauce, the side of shrimp chips were a nice touch for a crunchy side Service was good, quick and attentive, staff was knowledgeable about the menu offerings and provided great recommendations on how dishes were typically eaten. We were provided water upon being seated along with a carafe for self service, condiments were proved upon request note they don't have hoisin which was a little surprising and no bean sprouts or basil for the pho. Overall solid glad turtle tower is back, chicken pho was solid but not quite as good as the original location in the TL, banh mi would probably not reorder the por

Newly reopened in San Francisco's financial district, Turtle Tower offers traditional northern Vietnamese cuisine in a chic, elevated interior--and similarly elevated pricing. Indeed, you can find cheaper pho elsewhere, but Turtle Tower distinguishes itself with its unique, thicker-than-usual noodles and its signature Pho Ga: a chicken pho featuring a clean, flavorful broth and tender chicken pieces. The same cannot be said about their appetizers though, which are tasty but not worth the cost.

Turtle Tower is a San Francisco legacy business originally based in the Tenderloin, home of the Vietnamese community here. They opened a few satellite locations in the Richmond District and SOMA before all of them closed several years ago. Last year, the original chef owner found a partner who decided to restore the business and rebrand it from your neighborhood comfort food place to a modern, chic meal spot in the rising Financial District. Meeting some business friends for lunch midweek at 12:30 pm, I wasn't sure whether they made reservations in advance. I asked the greeter who kindly checked and didn't see one. Fortunately, there were a couple of open tables so he offered me a window side table by the entrance. My friends were still meeting with clients and texted me that they were a little behind schedule. A short time later, my friends arrived so we studied the menu and I asked them to order since they are familiar with the menu (offices less than a block away). We agreed to share a couple of appetizers and each had a soup noodle of our choosing. Here's what I tried: 1. Cafe sua (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=chQygf_RvlFXP4CmYFZI_Q), Vietnamese filtered coffee with condensed milk; I really enjoyed this as the flavors were smooth, consistent, and not overly strong or creamy. Appetizers (both shared): 2. Nom du du (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=iuTD18nsiKTSARav4tjFoQ), papaya salad with peanut, mint, cilantro. Unlike the familiar Thai version, the flavors here are more subtle though the dish is equally refreshing. 3. Goi chuon tom thit (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=nntVF_4FvsnhjrMRlQcFNQ), fresh shrimp rolls with grilled pork and shrimp with peanut sauce. I understand that this can serve as a meal but we shared this and I had two of the eight provided pieces (4 rolls, pre-sliced in halves). I also liked this as all of the ingredients were fresh and held well together by the rice paper. Dipping it is in provided peanut sauce gave it another flavor profile with its creaminess. Main 4. Pho ga (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=SOFC692kldrRNGClYLUozA), regular size, free-range chicken rice noodle soup. I asked about the size difference for a large and, with my drink and the appetizers, decided to stick with a regular (it was a workday and I didn't want to return to the office with food coma). The star of the show is the broth with this dish as it's the clean deep flavors of the soup that make the ingredients shine. I only used the provided jalapeno slices to give it an occasional kick. Because it was a semi-business meeting, my attention to details on this was not full as the conversation was my focus. My chicken was mainly shredded white meat with a mix of some dark meat, all were boneless. The cilantro and green onion amounts were just right. And yes, I finished the bowl, down to the last drop of soup. The dining room was full and is pretty spacious with tables to the right and counter seating and a bar area to the left. My hosts reminded me that this is the former location of a pre-2020 power lunch favorite Barbocco where I met one of their co-workers also for a lunch meeting (seated at the counter). Service was efficient as three people (2 guys and 1 gal) tended to our needs from ordering, drinks, food, clearing our table, and giving us our bill.

I intermittent fast usually but today I broke my fast to eat w MAH BOI NATE! I wanted to eat something light and lean and this was perfect. I used to think that oysters were mid, overhyped, as I would enjoy them with the classic cocktail sauce. Meh, whatever. And then I came here. Whatever Asian zing they put into their oysters gave oysters a new life for me! I had gotten a pedicure, not only were my toes looking good, but I was feeling good after eating this dish! LOL

My group of 5 walked in with no reservations at 5pm on a Saturday. It had a cool atmosphere and it was nicely decorated. They are one of the few restaurants offering northern style Vietnamese dishes. I used to go to their old location on Bryant St and it looks like the recipes haven't changed. I personally like southern dishes more but once in a while I like to switch it up. My favorite dishes were the nem cua, bun cha hanoi and pho ga. I didn't like the chicken wings but again that's the style. It usually comes in 4 pieces but the staff was able to accommodate and charge extra for 1 piece. Food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. They are very generous with all their noodle dishes. It's too much noodles for me though. Note: tips are added AFTER the grand total.

We were luckily enough to grab brunch right before the lunch rush that quickly filled the restaurant. Service was quick and food arrive fast after ordering. We grab some appetizers: house made crab chips (kid pleaser) and fresh pork & shrimp spring rolls which comes with 4 pieces with peanut sauce. For entree: we got pho ga (chicken pho) which is what they're popular for and Bún Chá Hà Nôi (Hanoi's style grilled pork, patty served with vermicelli noodle & herbs) which was extremely flavorful! Server were tentative to refill our waters and check in here and there during our visit. Bathroom stalls were clean as well.

The interior of the space is pretty nice with lots of seating. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The happy hour food was ok and the drinks were strong. When we came, they only had two happy hour drinks available to order which is crazy. Overall, a nice spot to dine at.

I've heard so much about Turtle Tower over the years and finally stopped by for dinner recently. The ambience was a lot more upscale than I expected. The food here lived up to the hype! I know this place is probably more known for the pho ga, but I was craving beef instead of chicken. So I went with pho bo dac biet (#4), the beef combination pho instead. It was so good! I loved how light yet flavorful the broth was. I usually find restaurant broth too salty, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Menu. Note there is an unlisted 5% junk fee.
    Zicheng Z.

The reason I'm giving this a 1-star is due to the extremely hostile business practices around tipping and fees. The final bill includes a 5% junk fee that is not present anywhere on their menu (see photos). Not only are they not upfront about this (which is illegal), when checking out, the server did not give us an itemized bill and prompted us to tip. Not only that, but I had to explicitly ask for the receipt, because the server took the device away without letting me choose to print or email it. They apply the tip on top of both the junk fee AND the tax. I was suspicious because the tip options were all far higher than they should've been for 2 bowls of pho ($43). This aside - I would probably rate the overall food a low 3 star. We ordered both the chicken and beef pho; the broth was okay, as far as a light broth goes, but it was odd to pair it with the beef pho as well. The aroma of the raw meat, combined with the chicken broth, wasn't pleasant. The noodles were just okay; not traditional, and also was not as chewy as I would hope for them to be. $21.5 is a steep price to pay for some average pho. I would not come back again.

Really incredible and great customer service. Will definitely come back again. It was perfect to have for lunch and just so clean, lean, and so high in protein. Thank you guys so much

Our party of two was seated immediately around 6:00pm this past Saturday. The restaurant had a beautiful and inviting atmosphere, and we appreciated the prompt and friendly service during our visit. To drink, we got a glass of the tortoise creek pinot noir and jasmine hot tea. The wine was good, and the tea came with itty bitty cups that required repetitive pouring. To eat, we ordered nem cua (fried imperial rolls), tôm bọc chiên giòn (crispy shrimp wontons), and pho bo dac biet (beef combo rice noodle soup). The pho was flavorful but there were not enough veggies in the dish. The fried imperial rolls were nice and crispy though the taste didn't really stand out. My favorite item was the crispy wontons with a large piece of shrimp in each, and great seasoning, wrapped in a delicious fried shell. Simple but yummy. All in all, we had a positive experience.

They definitely try their best to keep the line moving and one of the main ways it seems is to highly encourage guests to look at the menu while they are waiting in line outside so as soon as they are seated they can place their order and then eat quickly so then they can vacate the seat for the next person. Because this is exactly what happened to us. Also they have written warnings and they do tell you that their policy is everybody must order their own entree there's no splitting. I wouldn't call the servers overly friendly ( we had to flag them down to order drinks after our food was served) but the food came out quickly and the orders were accurate and it tasted amazing. I have never seen MATCHA flavored Ramen anywhere else and since I'm a matcha girly, you know I had to try the Duck Matcha Ramen. The ramen bowl itself is about $25/bowl. My signature Toripaitan spicy bowl soup surprisingly was not that hot. That's too bad. The thick noodles were hot though. Taste was decent. But the lukewarm broth ruined it for me. I like the side dishes better. Interesting ramen like the matcha duck and lamb cumin ramen might be with trying next time.

Usually these types of places serve like $5-$8 each skewers that taste bland and not filling/ satisfying. but taniku know how to actually bring out flavor from skewers making it feel more worth it. My best friend and I came here on a whim and really glad we did. The drive up was a little sketchy but the place is a small little unassuming spot - cutesy. There was a line outside and a 10-15 min wait for us (because of how small the place one) but we didn't mind. Service was also a tiny bit odd / slow but I'm not type to care too much about that especially if it's busy and the food comes on reasonable time + food is good. Customers waiting in line outside seemed confused and out of loop kept asking me since I was in front of line if there was a line or waitlist/how long the wait was. Another odd thing is their menu. I saw reviews / pictures of food that wasn't on the paper menu they gave so it was confusing what they actually offered. We ordered the Niku ramen : change to rice bowl (really good portion sizing for japanese place) tasty flavoring. not too meaty taste. kimchi was random but worked well, cut the beef sweetness and savoriness. +Added $5 soft shell crab for topping. Very good. Typically fried soft shell crab. Crispy, crabby. Scallop hand roll: seaweed was a little soft for my liking. scallop quality was very yummy. loved the yuzu. Thought the spicy mayo + yuzu pairing was too much clashing flavors. Pork Belly Skewers: sooo good. Crispy outer. soft inner. Flavorful. Chicken meatball skewer: raw egg sauce helped put it all together enhancing and uplifting the chicken itself. Awesome place with a huge portion size of food!…read more Good: - Only waited about 5min for a seat on a Sunday night for dinner - They are generous with the banchan and we had a couple refills - The galbi jjim for 2 people was way too much and well worth since it powered 2 more meals after - super fresh and so many toppings - the meat is super soft - The watermelon strawberry drink was huge and great value Bad: - Takes a while for the food to come - The place is pretty small Overall would come again, super comfort food. Great value and just enjoyed the vibes.

super cute small-ish restaurant serving korean dishes and known for galbijjim! we came by to try it…read moreout and i really enjoyed it. it didn't seem too busy on a weekday night and our party of five was able to sit right away. the food also came out quickly once ordered! the only thing is that service could be spotty, as it seemed they didn't have enough staff for the floor when we were there. i didn't mind too much but keep that in mind if you are on a timeline! we tried the galbijjim, which comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and cheese by default. they also gave us banchan and rice. the galbijjim was saucy and savory with tender meat & lots of cheese. i do think it's less sweet than daeho's version, which can be a plus if you find theirs to be overly sweet! additionally, they include the rice cakes and cheese, which are paid add-ons if you go to daeho. the banchan were better than daeho's in my opinion. their fish cakes were nicely grilled and kimchi tasted great. i only wish they had purple rice as an option! the portion was perfect for five of us so it's a really great value in my opinion. overall a good vibe, great food and banchan, nice portion for galbijjim. service can be slow but they're very kind and helpful.
