Five stars is not enough to express how happy I am with Jeff's service and attention to detail My plasma TV died Saturday night and I was trying to figure out how to get a new one from Costco on Sunday. Before I found out Costco was closed in Easter Sunday, Jeff called and assured me he not only could fix it but would fix it the same day- also Easter Sunday. With all this coronavirus hysteria he was unable to come out to do the repair but told me if I dropped it off, he would turn it around the same day. I packed the 55" Samsung in my vehicle and dropped it off to him at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. He called me 30 minutes later after having isolated the problem and lo and behold, I picked it up 90 minutes later. He replaced many parts beyond the immediate repair to insure I would have no further problems. Could be more pleased with the results and price. Most people don't know their older plasma TVs can be repaired for way less than the cheap new 4K junk TVs they're selling everywhere. Don't hesitate to call Jeff. The lowdown: 4 year out-of-warranty Vizio 55" TV. Remotes, both TV and Cable, didn't function at all to TV. Ran through every youtube video and google instructions I could find, essentially, all said to power cycle remotes and TV. To no avail. Bad infrared to remotes? The bad stuff: Called Vizio support on Saturday, and they also thought the same, but after checking -- no warranty available. They recommended me calling IBI, their service partner. I called IBI on Monday morning (closed weekends), was on-hold for 20 mins, only to be given the option to leave a message. No call back Monday. No call back Tuesday. No call back Wednesday. Called again, was on-hold, and again left a message. On Friday, called local service "AAA TV Repair" and spoke with a repair guy. He also agreed it sounded like the infrared, and he would call back after looking up the part replacement, and he'll schedule time with me. Bottomline, no call back from either IBI and AAA to this day. The upside: called the TV Doctor, and immediately got Jeff on the phone. He said he could pick up for $65, or I could drop it off. I chose to drop it off Monday @3pm, because the TV still worked with the on-the-set buttons, and I need my football. By Tuesday noon, it was ready. The repair bill was quite high (why it's 4.0 stars), $315, but appears to be working perfect. The final word: super fast, old school, easy to work with, a good energy guy with lots of passion for fixing TV's. Thank you!!! read more

I needed a lamp for my TV. My lamp blew Sunday morning right before the NBA Finals. I called my man over at TV Doctor and he allowed me to come in on a Sunday which was also Father's Day by the way. I have a 12 year old 64 inch plasma on the wall that died. Jerry was here the next day and rebuilt the power supply board for a lot cheaper than buying a new top of the line tv. $300 vs $1900 He's old school and not a geek squad newbie. Our TV is working again! During the heat wave, our TV suddenly stopped working. After a YouTube scan, and a cursory glance over the PC boards inside, I gave the TV Doctor a call. Even though he was at jury duty, he quickly called back. I took the TV over to his house, dropped it off, and left the $65 deposit. If you're reading this review, chances are you're seeking a trustworthy and affordable TV repair service. I don't feel this business to be either. To be fair, TV Docs will make house-calls. That's a back-saver if you've got a monster TV and don't have buddies around to help you transport it - or in my case, if you're pregnant with very little means of lifting the unit yourself. TV doc's actually answered my call on a football Sunday (props for that!). After giving a synopsis of my TV's issue they said they would call me back Monday with more information. I received a call-back on Tuesday from a different individual (hey, at least they returned my call at all). The rep spoke so quickly, so loudly, that he basically barreled over any questions I was trying to ask - interrupting me every time I attempted to ask a question, and continuing on and on about things which had no relevance to the questions I was -trying- to ask. The guy was just down right rude and probably didn't even realize it. He explained that I essentially would have to purchase a new "engine" for my TV and that it would be worth it in the long run because, just as with a vehicle, if you replace the engine you're not going to have problems for a long, long time. The quote was set around $650 - that's for repair/installation/transportation. At that rate, I might as well buy a new TV that's going to die in 3 years (if I'm lucky), right? No! I really like my TV. Projection TV's can last decades if you maintain them. But $650 sounded like a criminally high markup. So I went for a second opinion. I explained with the same detail as before the issue I was having - and the 'second opinion' quote provided was $150 with a $25 pickup/drop-off fee. I'm trying to be fair to TV Docs, but something just doesn't feel right here. If you're in the area, I highly recommend going with Allen's TV repair in Oxnard, CA. They *listen* and their candor goes a long way in gaining a customer for life. read more

I'm sure he does quality work, however he just tried a complete bait & switch on me, so I'm certainly not going to see the quality of his work myself... I called and asked how much for him to come to my house and repair my tv, he asked for the model number which I provided, and he told me $150 labor plus part, so I agreed. We scheduled a time for him to come over, I gave him my address, and then right before we're about to end the call, he tries to spring a $55 service call on me for him to come to my house! Are you kidding me?!?!?! The best part is that after I told him I'm not going to use him because of this, he kept on repeating how good he is and how long he's been doing this for...either justifying his bait & switch attempt, or simply not listening to me. Either way, I don't care for how he does business, and you all should keep an eye out for his tactics when you call him. read more

We called Jeff on Wednesday morning and he came out on Thursday morning. During our call he asked the appropriate questions so he could research the problem and quoted us a price. Jeff arrived on time, fixed the TV within an hour and was polite, efficient and friendly. Price he quoted was the price he charged. We were extremely happy with him and his work ethic. So my beloved plasma TV died on Friday night 1/17/20. I Googled TV repair and found TV Doctor close by. To my surprise Jeff answered the phone around 9pm and was genuinely interested in getting me the help I needed. Jeff the TV Doctor is amazing! He fixed our 14 year old projector. The connector on our projector was bent and we could not get our replacement bulb put back in. Came out to the house. Worked, tested and more importantly explained what the TV needed to be "as good as new" A different repair guy that spent twenty seconds diagnosing my TV said, "your panel is shot, you need a new TV" Took a little bit (ten days) to get the new circuit board from Samsung. Even brought out a loaner because i had to wait so long for the part. That is service!! Not inexpensive, but better than having to purchase a new TV. Had what I was told (through much research) was a terminal issue with my LCD rear-projection 60" TV. Could not be repaired. Needed a new power board, not avail. TV Doctor was recommended to me by my high-end AV shop where I had bought the TV like 2002 or so. First thing to realize, this guy is "back east" all the way. No bedside manner, no California stroking, just a guy with a van, parts and lots of "know how". Didn't really listen to me (back east we know our customers don't know nothin') -- says he knows what I need, orders the part and a few days later shows at my house with a lamp. Which I actually need anyway. So he puts the lamp in and is surprised when it won't light up. But... I shut my mouth so he can think. "Oh, I know what's going on!" Comes back from his van with an NOS part, yanks out my power board, un-solders a tiny bit from the board, solders a new "bit" in and... set is up and running. New bulb is great too. Guy is a one-of-a-kind resource. Highly recommended. BTW, to Lindsey from Ventura, light engines (optical blocks) are very expensive new. I can find one for my set for about $800. Probably what the other guy sold you was a rebuilt unit. Just FYI. read more

I have used the doctor a few times over 20 years. He's always done me right. Most recently, about a year or so ago, the panel in my 40" HDTV crapped out. Perhaps I should have bought a new TV; but the 40" was only a few years old and has a great picture. The Doctor found and replaced the defective panel with another defective panel. However, when I notified him, he promptly located another panel (not defective), replaced the panel and everything has been fine since. read more

I called Jeff (TV Doctor) to get an estimate on repairing my 56 inch Projection TV to try and determine if it's worth trying to fix or not. Jeff asked me a few questions and then estimated it needed a new bulb. He said he could come out for $65.00 and check it out and repair or I could bring the monster to him. I asked Jeff to come out and he came the same day. He checked it out an sure enough it was the bulb ($150.00). He brought the replacement bulb with him, but the connectors were different so he had to order the bulb and came back out a couple days later and replaced the bulb. The TV is working and the picture is better than ever for a fraction of what a new TV would have cost. Jeff is honest and straight forward and I will recommend him to as many people as I can. read more
