All around amazing experience at Twenty Tap!! Visiting Indianapolis from LA for the first time, and came here not once, but TWICE, as the food, beer, service, and overall vibes were awesome! The standout meal I had was the Bahn Mi with pork. Delicious! Other members of my party also had and loved the grilled salmon BLT, pressed cuban and classic burger. The fries are also top notch, perfectly seasoned and crispy! For beer, we loved the local selection, and particularly enjoyed the local Metazoa IPA, the Schlafly raspberry hefe, and the Four Day Ray blood orange blonde (the Metazoa was a crowd favorite). The outdoor seating is great and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. Great service as well. There may be a bit of a wait on a busy night, but it is worth it. I'm so in love with Twenty Tap. Where do I begin? The service here is great. I walked in and was not aware of the seat yourself rule, so I went to the bar and asked to be seated. The bartender was super nice and polite and told me to sit wherever I would like and I would be greeted. My server was super personable and kind, recommended a few good beers and I went for a rose, which was very enjoyable. I had the Shrimp Bowl which was not at all what I had expected, but in the best way. It comes in a stew-over-grits fashion, slightly spicy, and an incredible flavor palette (Photo attached. I stopped in for lunch and Wow! What a great meal! Twenty Tap recently reopened and they must have been fine tuning their service and food prep the whole time they were going through the remodeling. I had never been here before, but lured by the Yelp Top 50 designation (2017), I thought it worth the trip from the southwest of Indy to drive here. First, know that there is no parking lot, so you need to find a spot on the street. Mine was a couple blocks away. There is a small front patio area (covered) for outdoor dining, but I wanted to see the inside and waited for the staff to find a table for me. Service was prompt throughout my meal. Water brought out, extra napkins and a bottle of ketchup delivered without asking, and quick turnaround on getting my bill at the end. The wait on the food and drink were short too. Like I said, good all around! I started with a draft local (Bloomington) and got the full pint for $5. That is less than I am used to for craft beer, so I counted that a win. (The beer was cold and tasty too!) I ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich with a side of seasoned fries. YUM! The sandwich, served on Texas toast, was one of the best I've had all year! The short rib meat was juicy and when paired with the smoked gouda and Havarti cheese, made a winning combo. The cheese was completely melted and gooey, so it held most of the ingredients together (although a bit of meat did drop a couple times.) There was also a cherry bourbon glaze on the meat and a jalapeno marmalade along with the carmelized onion and arugula. What surprised me was how sweet tasting the sandwich was. The marmalade had just a hint of pepper flavor, not any detectable spiciness. And the fries were so good! I couldn't really tell what seasoning they used, but they reminded me of fries I've had that were cooked in Duck fat. Almost buttery tasting while being crunchy crisp on the outside. How are they putting out such amazing food like this at a "bar"? I have to imagine there is a highly trained experienced chef back there. I got the Pork banh mi and it's head and shoulders above any other I have ever had. It was so fresh and every bite had all the flavor notes in it. You also can't go wrong if you order cheese curds to start. Do yourself a favor and pay the $.50 extra to get all the dipping sauces it's hard to pick a favorite. My friend ordered a black bean burger and I ordered a house-seasoned fries with a chipotle and horseradish sauce and Angus Khan with a side of more fries! The fries are so good i would choose it over a girl! Seriously order the fries! It is sooo good! It sorta taste like a hybrid of Popeye's + Arbys with better seasoning! I think the fries would be 10x better if they add a sprinkle of shredded parmesan! The burger was good and at a reasonable price for once! $11.5 for a 1/3lb burger that is well seasoned. And the goat cheese at that tang that cuts through the burger and accents the slightly sweet sauteéd red onions and jun-fan sauce! I was slight disappointed that the over easy egg wasn't over easy. In fact is was 70% cooked... This place also has a great selection of beer! I tried my friend's Avery Chai High and it was surprisingly good. I remember being so excited when Twenty Tap opened in SoBro. It was great to have a restaurant that had tons of different, unique beers on draft. The menu was also pretty good and had a little something for everybody. The service was never great, but it was such unique dining experience that it almost made up for it. But that has changed. Now that practically every restaurant in town has 20+ beers on their meu, it is not much of novelty. It is also not always worth the struggle to find a parking spot, the waiting for a table, and the slow service from staff who sometimes feel annoyed my our presence. It's been a few years since I last went, but it's always been a favorite. Beer, cider, and yummy food. We started off with a beer (oatmeal something) for him and a cider (star cut bucket semi-sweet) for me; we liked both, but I think we preferred my cider to his beer. We had to get the cheese curds. I don't know when these became the standard I compare other cheese curds to, but it's been that way for years-so to me, these are the best! We went with chipotle aioli and curried ketchup for the sauces, but we both ended up liking the curried ketchup-it's sweeter than I initially expected, but it grew on me. He ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries and I had the black bean burger with fries. I love their black bean burger here and while there are other things to try, I always go back to it. When you first walk into this restaurant you think, "oh no this is not going to be good". Going out to eat with family, and I had to pick the restaurant. I looked on yelp restaurants in this area by zip code. Alot, of restaurants came up for this area broad ripple and sobro. We walk in and my family look was priceless, and they said there is a deli next door. I said; they had great reviews let's try it. It was early and all the seating was full, but we scored a booth in the back. Its not a very big restaurant, and they have another room where the bar is and there is high top tables. I ordered cheese curds, sorry I didn't get a picture, but it was absolutely delicious and fresh. Made with Wisconsin Cheddar cheese and it's definitely fresh not frozen. I ordered the Pressed Cuban (this was good it was on a nice thin bread, everything was nice and warm just like a Cuban Sandwich in the Caribbean) my family ordered Hot Fish Po'boy (very flavorful and not spicy as indicated just right for flavor, seasoned fries very good) Angus Khan (spicy, but very good if you like spicy food without the egg and lettuce. Pimento mac and cheese which I was told was very good. Oh, and the patty is very thick and big. Sorry this item didn't get a picture) Last one was Salmon Sandwich which my family said; (look at the size and thickness of this salmon she was very happy and it was good, with a salad as her choice for a side) Everyone finished all their meals with nothing to take home. The Cheese Curd appetizer can be split between 4 people no problem, and you get 2 sauces with it. We chose Chipotle and Chimichuri. If you want additional sauce it's .50 cents more. You don't need the extra sauce. The curds have their own flavor which is very good. It's a very laid back restaurant, but the service is amazing and they definitely know what to recommend. It's a good thing I don't live in Broadripple because I would probably spend all my money at Twenty Tap if I did. This is one of my fave restaurants in Indy. No other tap within city limits has food as good as Twenty Tap. None. Not even close. And they have plenty of vegetarian options, which is a rare thing for bar food!!! I'm overjoyed. Their buffalo cauliflower makes even my non-vegetarian friends perk up and go in for more. The service is relaxed. I'm fond of the energy in the space. I'm shocked that I haven't reviewed Twenty Tap yet after probably over a dozen visits, so this 5-star review is long overdue and well earned. Twenty Tap is basically our go-to restaurant if we're nearby, despite lots of restaurant competition in the area. Not only do they have great craft beers on tap, but their food is always consistently great too. Menu highlights include their fries (some of the best in the city) or cheese curds with their housemade dipping sauces, the spicy cuban sandwich, and the turkey burger. Their house salad and housemade soups are delicious as well, and they always have at least a few vegetarian menu items to offer. Dining options include the bar side of the restaurant, a dining room with booth seating, the partially enclosed outdoor patio (which is heated in winter months), and the yard two doors down which has been filled with outdoor tables to maximize outdoor seating (initiated during the pandemic). The restaurant is located along busy College Ave which means you may have to hunt for a street parking spot, but will be in a great location that's prime for people watching. We are never disappointed at Twenty Tap. We've been going here for years and mainly eat at the bar, but when we go with others we sit in the restaurant. Even our mothers love this place and ask us to go back, which is a bigger deal than it seems. It's hard to pinpoint what makes this place so special. It is something different each time. A big plus is that it's locally owned and the owner really seems to treat her employees well. It's been the same people there for years. A year or two back they had a fire in February that closed the place until about August or September if I remember correctly. We noticed that each and every employee from before the fire came back. That says a lot right there. We love the beer. It's always a wide variety. It's geared a little more towards my husband's taste of IPAs, but I can still find something I like. We love the servers. Some more than others. The girls on Friday nights are really good and get to know you. We love the food. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal. We've probably had everything on the menu at least once. The cauliflower wings are the best in the city. Trust me, we've tried them all. The bahn mi (with pork) is phenomenal. I went there for lunch not too long ago this past week and the food wow'ed both me and my coworkers. I had a salmon blt sandwich that was crafted with perfection.
