We're here because the restaurant we drove for Vancouver, WA where we would have wanted to have lunch during our 52nd Wedding Anniversary was closed on Mondays! Instead, we stopped here, since we have been here in the past, since their Grand Opening. We've always been very happy. Today? Everything was perfect, even the 89 degrees weather is nothing to complain about. As usual, the food and the service was great. What is NOT so great, that brought this restaurant down? Using the restroom, after a great meal, and found NO TISSUES for customers to use. I have to text hubby, who is finishing our Sticky Cookie, that to tell someone, there's NO TP! He told our waitress. I spotted our waitress' shoes, going in the next stall, so I said something, she did gave me some, but it wasn't enough. I asked her for some more, she said something, she'll 'send someone to bring me a new roll'. I sat & waited. I decided, to use some toilet seat cover, to finish cleaning myself. When I was done, I opened my door, so I can go wash my hands, when I saw the other staff was 'quietly' standing by the wall, waiting for me TO GET OUT! What was I supposed to do, pull my pants up, without fully cleaning myself up, or sit still and wait for 'someone' to come back with a new roll? A beautiful day to have lunch with friends at Twigs Bistro. Our party of 6 was accommodated to sit on their patio overlooking the Columbia River. Our waitress was good and attentive to our requests. We all ordered cocktails and lunch. I ordered the Truffle Chicken Pasta, was so delicious and creamy. I would order again. Met a friend here for lunch to celebrate her birthday. Parking is paid through the Parking Kitty app for street parking. There's also a parking garage where you get a ticket, then pay on your way out. Parking costs about $3.30/hr, including fees. I made reservations online and requested a window table with a view. Our table was ready when we arrived and it had a gorgeous view as requested. My only gripe is they didn't do anything special for my friends birthday, even thought I noted we were celebrating a birthday on the reservation. A bit disappointing, especially since this place is pretty expensive and I'm sure many pick this area for celebrating. They have a new lunch pairings menu that's decently priced. They have quite a few options for $17. My friend ordered the beet salad entree for $17, and added a chicken breast for $8, which seemed pretty steep for chicken. The salad ended up being $25. She said it was delicious. My Caesar salad was one of the best I've had. The dressing had great flavor, not too tangy or fishy. The club was delicious as well. We were both very happy with our food. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. Our server kept the water carafes coming and we never had to ask for anything. She was patient while my friend and I were catching up. Overall a much better experience this time compared to last time. Unfortunately I couldn't give 5 stars because of the lack of birthday acknowledgement and price of a chicken breast. Really great location with beautiful views of the Columbia river. We arrived at 4:30 PM on a weekday and it was very busy. Seems happy hour is a big draw for them. We ate outside as it was a perfect spring day and had good service. I had the salmon dinner, which was delicious. The sauce, creamy butter and shallots, was phenomenal. It comes with jasmine rice and Parmesan and encrusted asparagus. I thought the asparagus was just OK. My dining partner had the fish and chips and he's kind of a connoisseur of fish and chips, ordering it most places we go to that have it on the menu, and he said it was excellent, absolutely excellent. I came here for a late night dinner with an associate and we had a really good dinner considering how late it was. I had their jasmine rice with brussels sprouts because I'm vegan and the brussels sprouts were truly the highlight! I felt full and satiated after I finished it and our bartender provided excellent service while we chatted it up. My associate got their chicken sandwich with fries and after tasting the fries, I can say they were absolutely delicious. I recommend this place to go if you need some food late night or want an upscale ambience in Vancouver. read more

Decent food served in this perfectly located restaurant in front of Vancouver's refurbished waterfront. We were a group of 5. We shared Calamari and Sliders to start. Calamari was crispy and light , but the aioli or tartar was uninspired. I thought it was plain mayonnaise. The sliders were better, moist with some sort of tomato jam. 2 of us ordered the fish tacos, which were just ok. I've had better. It came with fries. 2 ordered Smash Burgers. Again, they were ok. We also had a Caesar Salad. It wasn't bad. The restaurant is pretty big, with a beautiful interior, very classy. We sat out in the outdoor patio to enjoy the sun and the river views. The service was terrific---friendly and warm. Food came out reasonably quick. We didn't have the more heavy items on the menu, because we wanted to keep it light. Maybe those are better executed. They have a Vegan menu with great lunch/dinner options. It's wonderful that it's available for people with dietary restrictions, but it would be nice to add a few breakfast items to that menu since they offer brunch on their regular menu. Service was fantastic! The hostess was cheerful and sat our group at a round table in the center of the dining room. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, solid wood tables and nice lighting with a view of the riverfront. Our server was at our table within a few minutes to take drink orders. Though it wasn't listed on the menu, they do offer hot tea. The server brought a tea box with a variety of different teas to choose from. As for food, I wasn't that hungry, and wanted something light. I ordered the braised brussel sprouts which were served in a sweet sauce with cashews, onion, and garlic. It was delicious! I set my expectations low given the reviews here. I was pleasantly surprised that Twigs delivered better than I expected. Granted, it was a nebulous Friday lunch with a former colleague, and she suggested we meet at Twigs. It's on the water and mid point between our home offices, so I was open to it. When I arrived I was surprised that the place was virtually empty. I was seated immediately, water was supplied (glasses already on the table & carafe to self-serve are always appreciated). The server was working the bar and tables nearby. She was quick to ask if I wanted anything while I was waiting, so I opted for a glass of malbec. This is the one thing that Twig did deliver to my low expectations - a mediocre wine selection. It was meh, but I was okay with that. Service was prompt when my other party arrived and a glass of chardonnay was delivered in just a few minutes. We chatted and ordered. This was the other met expectations moment - the length of time from order to plates on the table was a tad long. We were catching up so it didn't bother me, and we even received a 2nd carafe of water since we had demolished the first one. I ordered lunch 2 choices for $17: clam chowder and 1/2 club sandwich. My friend ordered crab mac/cheese and caesar salad. Here's my take on the dishes: Clam Chowder: 5/5, house made, well balanced, nice chunks of clam, potato, celery, etc. One of the better chowders I've had in recent memory. Club sandwich: 5/5, on thin bread, perfectly toasted, perfect amounts of each ingredient. The club is one of my favorite sammies and I'm always taking one of 3 slices out because it's too much bread. I did sub the swiss for white cheddar (not a fan of smelly cheeses). My friend's order, which I did sample. Crab mac/cheese: 5/5 with crab optional. You don't have to order with crab and I probably wouldn't (the crab wasn't the highlight). It's prepared in a cast iron skillet and has a great chewiness to it. Not over creamy or rich, just really solid. Caesar Salad/Pecans: 2/5 just meh all around. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to caesar salad and I do lean to low fishiness. The dressing was unremarkable, the lettuce average, and the pecans were just awkward in the salad. I'd skip it and select something else. Small things: One thing I am anal about is the temp of the food. When I received my sandwich/soup, the plate it was on was the hot side of warm. Bonus points for this detail. On top of that, the restrooms were very clean. Nice job Twig! Overall, a good experience for lunch. I didn't venture outside since it was raining, but I can imagine the outdoor seating on a nice evening to be magical. Planning for the future: I'd bring my own wine if it's a larger group or special occasion. Bottom line: I would absolutely return for a 2nd visit. I'm eager to try some of the steak options and the onion rings. read more

Twigs is Right on the waterfront with a lovely patio when the weather is nice. I like to bring out of town guests here when I pick them up from PDX. Our lunch was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is lovely and since it was raining they put us right by the fireplace which made it very cozy. The waterfront area is gorgeous and we walked a bit after lunch and even got to see a bald eagle and some seals in the river! read more

Twigs bistro was fantastic! I dined with my 3 kids (teen/preteen) and they had a good kids menu. My son got the chicken strips which a lot of time look like they just came off the Sysco truck in restaurants but these definitely looked like they were made there and he said they had a lot of flavor! My daughter ordered the grilled chicken and mashed potatoes from the kids menu and loved it, a good healthy choice and well cooked. My other son had the margarita pizza, he liked it but said it was a little salty, I didn't disagree. They have draft rootbeer which is fantastic! I'd rather pay for a quality soda. I had the strawberry refresher and the huckleberry Moscow mule (don't judge me I was eating out with 3 kids alone haha). They were both very well balanced drinks, not overly sweet which I super appreciate! I also had the steak special with a Demi coulottes and the optional Gorgonzola crust, mashed potatoes, and seasonal veggies. The steak was perfectly medium rare as I asked for, the addition of the Gorgonzola was a fantastic choice with the Demi. Daniel was our server and he was very attentive, knowledgeable and kind to my kids. The atmosphere was good for all people wanting to dine, if you want a date night it could be romantic, they had several larger tables for those with large parties and as you can see it works well for families too. Reservations were easy to obtain through open table, I would recommend getting one but it did look like they may have had some open tables for walk in customers as well. My first time being to this place. It's right by the waterfront so when you sit on the patio, the views are very pretty. I ordered a mimosa flight and the Huckleberry was my favorite. I also ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles came with a strawberry compote on them making the waffle soggy, which I wasn't a fan of. My chicken was dry. We went to Twigs for lunch yesterday. It was a beautiful day and the view of the river was wonderful. We got there 3 minutes before our reservation. The hostess said our table was ready but we had to wait those 3 minutes before she could seat us. We thought that was odd. When the 3 minute wait was up she promptly seated us. Why make us wait if the table was ready? The wait staff was helpful and attentive, however. My husband had the Pesto Margharita Chicken. He enjoyed and said it was flavorful. I ordered the Mizithra pasta with steak and I hate to say it was really NOT good. The pasta was overdone and soft. It was clearly cooked with no salt. I ordered the steak medium and it was well done, dry and tough with little flavor. The mizithra cheese was nearly invisible. There was less than a teaspoon sprinkled over the top. I took a few bites and decided I was not going to eat this the way it was. I ate the beet and pear salad I had ordered, which was tasty and fresh, and took the pasta dish home where I added some Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of pesto. That didn't help the overcooked spaghetti and dry, tough steak but it made it palatable. It will be a long time before we go back to Twigs despite the beautiful setting, getting food with that price and low level of taste isn't worth it, there are lots of other places with a nice view. read more

We were downtown for an event and wanted to eat somewhere close. I searched for gluten-free restaurants on the Vancouver waterfront and Twigs came up. They have a decent gluten-free menu, but the item that sold me was the prime rib philly dip. It has been 20 years since I've had a sandwich I could dip. The au jus was just the right amount of saltiness and there was plenty of prime rib. I could tell it was gluten-free not only by the flag in the sandwich but by the fact that the bread started to disintegrate about halfway through. The sandwich was served with a knife and fork, as if they anticipated the bread falling apart. Fryers are not separate, but there was a nice selection of salads to choose from for a side. I enjoyed the pear and beet salad. They offer just one gluten-free dessert, but I love creme brulee so it wasn't a problem at all. We were given the opportunity to sit in the bar at a table that looked out at the water and we took it. It was nice to look out and people watch as the sun set. The bar wasn't noisy; in fact I only noticed the music when I went to the bathroom. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. My spouse enjoyed a steak off the regular menu and was pleased with it. The mashed potatoes were proclaimed some of the best they've ever had. And the service was very good -- our server was super sweet and helpful. The food though was just okay. The brussel sprouts were undercooked and so was the flatbread -- which didn't actually taste too much like fig. The mango mojito was delicious but the orange clove Old Fashioned was disappointing. Came in last night for dinner with a buddy of mine and his family. Our waitress Kennedy was amazing!!! So sweet and nice. They did not have any batter for the chicken so I could not get crispy honey chicken sandwich. So I just got the rib eye steak minus the carrots for the veggies and a side salad substitute. The steak came on a bed of mashed potatoes. There were not a lot of spuds there. The steak was kind of fatty. It was kind of tough and did not look like a ribeye steak. The spuds tasted ok. My salad was served in a small bowl and was pretty decent. Everyone else enjoyed their $6.00 tacos for happy hour. It's nice they serve happy hours outside of the bar area unlike a lot of other places. She really liked the Cajun shrimp tacos. My buddy's kids love the fries there and that's one of the reason why we went there. For $49.00 for the tough grisly ribeye I wish I would have just gotten a couple tacos. Took a friend visiting from Switzerland to Twigs for lunch yesterday. Big mistake. She had heard the revitalization of the Vancouver Waterfront was impressive so we walked from McMeniman's to the new waterfront for lunch. Sitting by the river is always nice and just like McMeniman's on the Columbia, a person in the know can expect mediocre food and crummy service. It wasn't especially busy at 12:30, I saw 3 cooks in the kitchen as we walked by and there were many empty tables. It took us 45 minutes to get served two salads and a side of fries. We observed a family seated two tables away who were seated before us wait that long as well. The server was pleasant so I tipped her 20% because I know you can't fault them for how long it takes the kitchen. My bill for this disappoint was $65.99! I won't be having a meal again here. Maybe HH some summer day but never again. I can never figure out why nice restaurants like this are so poorly managed. Guessing it's because they don't hire enough cooks.
