Nice little liquor store near an HEB. It's spacious, bright, and exceptionally clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. There have been times I have walked in and all the staff was helping customers, but they'll still greet you and help you right when they're done. I will mention again that this spot is small and that there is a Total Wine and More a little ways down the street if they do not have what you need. BUT if you managed to find what you are looking for the prices are fine and you pay a little less per bottle if you buy more than one (This is true at all Twin Liquors, that's their whole deal). There isn't much more to say, pop on in if you need something the HEB doesn't have or if you just want to browse and get some info from the knowledgeable staff. read more

I like Twins because they seem to be ideally located to my favorite HEB shopping centers. Nice way to draw in customers. But more than that, their prices are better than any in Austin. They have a decent selection of all the spirits, beer and wine. read more

Sure, Twin Liquors is the bomb. We've known the TL family since ... forever, from their little store on 7th @ Red River. Gabe and his next generations were always kind, and helpful. More than several times Gabe would write on a slip of paper for my husband to put on his truck dashboard, "Do Not Tow - Gabe", as he owned the parking area there where now are good trailers. My husband owned the sound company that did Emo's sound, from opening day until it closed, there on Red River. Twin Liquors now have stores all over town; large and smaller venues house the stores. I use the smaller Mueller store as well as the cavernous Hancock location. They always ( minus twice in 30 years) had in stock what I wanted, and the 2 times they didn't, I had my ordered specific in hand within a few days. Bravo Gabe, and Anastasia, and all. Great service here, hate that are considering no longer price matching though. With Total Wine being just down the street, this may likely push us to drive there instead for the extra savings. This would be different if they lowered their price to match Total Wine before removing this program at least. I walked in looking for a bourbon I had tried in Dallas and D'Andres helped me find it. He then helped me understand the nuances I couldn't identify in a blended Texas whiskey. He spent 20 min with me discussing different bourbons and after deciding I wanted to try something new, I left with 4 bottles. I know scotches but Bourbon is not my expertise. D'Andres is super knowledgeable, patient, kind and a great listener. I needed his ear to help me try to identify what I was envisioning in something new. read more

The weather temperatures have dropped dramatically so I stopped into Twin Liquors to procure some anti-freeze, Wild Turkey 101. Being a oenophile and former wine advisor at a prestigious wine shop in Manhattan, NY, I seldom am impressed as I was by Brian and Sean and their knowledge of wines. I was looking for a Mourvèdre and without hesitation or a look of puzzlement, Sean led me to the area where I could find the Mourvèdre or Monastrell as it's called in Spain. I love their $1 sale that they run, but sad to say you need to be careful with their fine wine. I bought a decently expensive wine and it was corked (meaning it went bad). I store wine at the right temperature and humidity, so it must have gone bad before they bought it or they didn't have it stored properly. Staff extremely unhelpful and rude. Christmas Eve '14, daughter and I went to get some decent Italian wiñe to go with the Christmas Eve pasta. The family had already drunk the wine I got from recommendation at Specs earlier. Assuming I would get the Specs treatment here was my error. First guy, saying he was only a temp for the holidays pointed to another "guy with glasses" as the wine guy. Glasses guy showed me to Italian section, which I could find by the sign and walked away. Another guy, Shannon, came by so I asked if he knew about the wines. Boy did he, and he sure wanted to impress somebody with it. When I asked about the percentage alcohol indicating dry or sweet, he lectured me on how that was not at all correct....vintners stop fermentation,,,blah, blah. Still trying to get a decent wine, I asked him to help find a soft, not dry, fruit forward Italian wiñe. He pointed to a"nice"...dry. Daughter tried to help by saying more sweet, so he says Zinfindel. She says not that sweet so he lectures on the difference in white Zin and regular and more useless information. Shannon, who claimed to be manager when asked, was making this quick trip difficult. Now at my age (67), often the distance between my thoughts and my mouth is short? We had been there about 20 minutes and still no wine. I told Shannon he was not being helpful, and that he was kind of a show-off. Yes, better not said, but yet true. Instead of taking the high road and saying "sorry you feel that way," he told us that after the day he had experienced he "didn't need you ladies comin in her tellin me my business," and told us to leave and not come back. We were not drunk, not poorly dressed, not homeless...just needed 3 or 4 bottles of wine. Shannon was arrogant, disdainful, and more than rude. Dumbfounded, we put down the two bottles we already had, left, and bought whatever at HEB. However, not being accustomed to being thrown out of establishments, we were embarrased, angry, teary, and humiliated; and we took that home with us to the family gathering. Thus, Christmas Eve ruined because Shannon had a hard day at work, and he tried to intimidate a silver-haired retired teacher. read more

I feel robbed. GO TO SPECS INSTEAD. I went to this Twin Liquors to restock my home bar. I ended up buying $200 worth of alcohol (6 bottles hard alcohol, 6 bottles of wine). As the only customer in the store, Al, the store manager, saw that I was buying a lot of alcohol. Only AFTER he rang me up (all alcohol sales are final) did he mention that in TWO days, a huge sale was beginning where I could have saved approximately 18% on my bill ($30). When I jokingly asked if I should return these and buy them again in two days, his response was that I should come back and buy more. If you don't take care of your customers, you will lose them. This is a pretty small location as far as Twin Liquors go, and sometimes the staff are so responsive that it makes me feel... watched. BUT, I also recognize that they're trying to be helpful and I'm just irrational. I've never left without what I need, and I appreciate that they're constantly restocking and expanding their selection. The selection is great, but what's even greater is a woman that works here. This review is pretty much solely for her, a genuine badass lady who makes my day every time I come in here. I'm leaving this review on behalf of my significant other who is now in the Mueller HEB buying beer which really isn't that much of an inconvenience. BUT. We just attempted to make a quick little stop at Twin Liquors in Mueller to quickly buy some beer. It was 8:58 PM when my significant other walked in. We have both worked in retail and know that standard protocol is to leave the doors open until closing time and the doors were indeed still open. However upon entering the store the store clerk looked up and in a stern voice said, "I NEED YOU IN LINE IN ONE MINUTE." My boyfriend turned away and walked out because that's some weak shit. We both know the rage one gets while working in retail and at closing time someone walks in. But the main difference here is that we worked in stores where people would waltz in at closing time and try on clothes for an hour and also the main difference here is that we were trained to offer these people service and be nice even though in our heads we wanted them to die. My boyfriend came tonight to grab a six pack, not wander around perusing. But even if he did wander around, I feel it's unacceptable to be upset with a customer for wanting to do business. read more

Kyle and the female staff were extremely rude to my boyfriend and I. I stated that I would go to my car to get my ID that they requested and Kyle accused me of being "extremely young" and requesting that I leave and not return without a chance to retrieve my ID. Flew down to Austin with a group of buddies for a bachelor party. A couple of us got in earlier than the rest of the pack, so agreed to head around town to pick up the necessities for a successful bachelor party. We did some Googling around and found an HEB right next to Twin Liquors and made our way over. We loaded up on food at the HEB and headed over to the Twin Liquors to stock up on liquor. Since we're from out of town, we planned to catch an Uber from the Twin Liquor once we were done shopping. Since we had food for 12 people, we walked over to the store with the cart full of food. We then entered the store with our cart and started browsing for what was going to be a massive purchase of liquor. 20 seconds in to the shopping experience, some employee (a bald/shaved-head male) starts absolutely screaming at us to get the cart out of the store. No explanation, no discussion, just immediate screaming. I responded with a shocked "OK man, that's not a problem" and calmly left the store, with him screaming at me the entire time. Apparently he was worried about the cart being too wide in the aisles and, with the glass bottles, he was worried about us knocking them over. Perfectly reasonable thing to be worried about right? Had he immediately not started screaming, this wouldn't have been an issue. As I was waiting outside with our groceries while my buddy finished shopping, a female employee came out and apologized for the man's hostility, which I thought was nice. I told her it was totally fine, but she continued to apologize, saying that he never should have acted that way. Props to her. My buddy emerged with liquor, but said there were only like 2 cases of beer in the whole place. He said that a beer distributor was stocking the fridge when he was shopping, so he asked if there was going to be additional beer stocked soon. The guy said no and that the best bet was to go back to the HEB next door. Which we did. Between the terrible customer service and the lack of inventory, this liquor store is an easy one to avoid. read more

My girlfriend and I went in to grab a couple bottles of liquor. She had accidentally left her wallet at home and did not have her ID on her. The store has a policy that all members of a group must have an ID to purchase alcohol which we didn't know. When we were checking out the cashier asked for both our IDs. Since only one of us had an ID he told us he couldn't sell to us which would have been fine since it is store policy. However the main issue was his condescending tone while speaking to us. He also let us know that we were "more than welcome to go home and come back with both our IDs and he would be more than happy to sell to us then." We have been in there multiple times and this is the first time that all group members were asked for IDs. As many of the reviews recommend we will try out Specs and won't be coming back. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love buying alcohol from Twin Liquors, but the manager (guy with curly hair and glasses), is just absolutely rude. My friends and I had wanted to go purchase some liquor (as we were all going to be separate customers) but the manager assumed we were a group of 3 and immediately yelled and shut the door on us because only parties of 2 or less are allowed. First of all, we didn't know that was the policy. My BAD...maybe post a fucking sign since you got nothing better to do. I mean hell, you'd rather yell at every customer that comes through your door rather than do your actual job. The thing I can't get over is the fact that he did not have to slam the door closed on us but his excuse was that he wanted to save electricity, that he's the one that pays the electric bill. That gives you no excuse to come at me at a 10 when none of us were hostile. Once one of my friends agreed to stay outside, all you can hear is the manager talking shit about me and my friends. He was making it known he was talking shit too, just loud enough for me to hear it. He was very quick to judge. What's even worse is that we were not the only ones the manager yelled at. Manager yelled at another customer who had a simple question about whether there was curbside delivery because he had had it there before. Don't get me wrong, I myself am not an angry or violent person. It takes a lot to push my buttons, and this manager did just that. Passive aggressive, rude, arrogant, feeling entitled. I like twin liquors but I would never recommend this location until they fix the management here. I hope twin liquors will see this post as well as the multiple other posts about the same manager, and hopefully do something about it before they lose more business because of him. read more

This location is relatively new and somewhat smaller yet, they still have a decent selection of product. I'd say about 1/3 of the store is wine and a little less than 2/3 is liquor and the small remainder is beer and mixers. Every time I've been they have a solid selection of liquor yet they don't have a LOT of harder to find or more desirable spirits. That said, they DO have some harder to find beers now and again. When they first opened they had an older gentleman working there and he had the attitude of an old school liquor store guy. You know, gruff and just overall not very friendly. I tried to have a conversation with him a few times and he never remembered me despite coming there semi regularly. What can I say? I have a hard time with names but faces I never forget. More recently I haven't seen the older man there but everybody else is usually helpful and friendly. Solid neighborhood spot. read more

This location has the worst service ever. I hope this comment pushes Muller folks to drive the extra two minutes to Specks or go next door to HEB. At both places the cost is lower, the employees are knowledgeable (without the condescending attitude) and checkout time is quicker. My Christmas Eve story: The employee Shannon was a rude know-it-all who was no help at all. His customer service was terrible, he never helped us find a wine and after wasting 20 minutes of our time to show off, we told him never mind. This must have hurt his ego because he promptly told us to leave and never come back. I was shocked. I asked if he was the manager and he lied saying he was. I called later and found out that the true manager is named Al. I've never been kicked out of any place in my life. He was loud and embarrassed us on purpose. Both my mother and I were stunned. I turned around and told her to put down what we had in our hands and we went to leave. Shannon again loudly, condescendingly and showing off for his giggling co-workers told us to have a nice night ladies. At this point he was just being mean and purposeful on his comment that he wanted us to leave and never come back. I finally blurted out some choice words for Shannon that were much deserved after his display infront of the entire store. I work with customers 9hrs a day, 5 days a week. Some are nice, some are straight business and others are just plain rude. I would never speak to any of my customers the way he did. 1st because the customer pays the bills which is why the customer is always treated with respect. 2nd because it's never okay to bully someone Christmas Eve or any day of the year. Again I hope this comment helps push folks to Specks or HEB for their spirits. At the very least ask for another clerk if Shannon approaches you. He will only waste your time. Per Shannon's request my mother and I will never set foot in that Twin Liquors again. read more
