The hero of 4th of July 2026. This one man show served hundreds if not thousands of fireworks goers at Crissy Field. The line was long and slow but the ice cream dip was 10 out of 10 delicious. Not just a light crispy dip of chocolate but a thick soft perfectly dipped cone. Great prices and delicious flavor. If you see this truck stop and give the man a tip!
My favorite ice cream in the Bay Area! I read a (thankfully wrong) comment on reddit that Twirl and Dip had closed and have been mourning it for a few months. So I was extra excited to spot the twirl and dip truck outside tunneltops playground at the presidio on a Saturday afternoon! Same amazing ice cream made of the most quality local ingredients--organic milk, tcho chocolate and Mitchell's ice cream if you choose hard serve. We always get tcho chocolate-dipped twist cones. The best in the world. And they're huge! Not sure how they have kept their prices down $5 a cone, $2 extra for dip. Meanwhile, I paid $5 each for run-of-the-mill ice cream sandwiches from an ice cream cart for my daughters at Golden Gate Park recently.
The dude and I came to Twirl and Dip at San Francisco Golden Gate Park on 11/11/23. We stumbled upon this absolutely delicious ice cream spot by accident. There was a long line but it makes sense as the ice cream is out of this world. We waited about 45 minutes. We liked the vintage style of the ice cream truck and the dude inside was slaying it ALL by themself! So impressive. I got the honey comb ice cream which was delicious and the dude got something similar as well. My mouth waters for this sooooo tasty and delicious. You have to try it. They ran out of fudge but only that dip chocolate which was good but made it a little challenging to eat as the chocolate immediately froze . It was like I was fighting with my ice cream with honey comb pieces dancing around it. But once I got the groove of it . It was well. Overall, if in the San Frann area you must give this place a try and make sure to leave a tip as this place hands down is probably one of the tastiest treats!
Really delicious soft serve. I'm so glad I got it! It's a little pricey ($6 for soft serve, $2 for dip, $.50 for sprinkles) but very tasty. Enough ice cream to share!

I ordered the V&C Twirl. It was a happy surprise tasting vanilla bean. Also great was getting an appropriate serving size for the price. There was an extremely nice server doing his best to keep up with the long lines on a nice summer day in Cali.
Started the new year off visiting golden gate park, and definitely had to visit the Twirl and Dip truck! I got a vanilla cone (the non-waffle cone option) with chocolate dip and the total was $8. I really enjoyed the chocolate, its so soft when you bite it. It doesnt snap off and fall to the ground like regular dips. The vanilla soft serve has vanilla specks in it! Super tasty The wait is very long though... think we waited an hour on line. My partner was getting very impatient, while i was fine with waiting. So it's up to you and your patience on whether you think this ice cream is worth it or not.

I was excited to find this truck in the Golden Gate Park on a warm day. There is not many soft serve options in the Bay Area so definitely a good option! A bit pricy for a cone but lots of toppings to choose from
Found the truck in Golden Gate Park behind the bandstand. Great place to get an ice cream and enjoy a nice day. I got the vanilla soft serve on a regular cone with the signature chocolate dip. Definitely wait until the dip hardens before eating to appreciate the chocolate thickness. Everything tasted good. Would definitely get it again though the $7 price seems a little extreme. But I guess that is the price of doing business in San Francisco. Thank you for the extra napkins though. Payment is cash or Venmo only.
I was heading to the museum when I came upon the food trucks and I had to try rhe soft serve. I like the options available llike chocolate and vanilla soft serve or twist (swirl) mix of both flavors. There are different topping options like sprikles, chocolate chips (homemade), almonds, and you can dip and add a cone if you choose so. There is also ice cream available if you prefer ice cream vs. Soft serve. They had coffee and strawberry. Both were very flavorful as well. The strawberry wws our favorite! The menu is a little confusing and unclear because it was written in chalk on the outside of the truck and was fadding/rubbed off in certain spots. I would recommend they find a better way to deliver menu options. Definitely give them a try if you are an ice cream or soft serve fan!
We stumbled upon this truck when it was parked behind the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. It was a sunny day, so there was a bit of a line, but it was soo worth the wait. The soft serve (we got vanilla and chocolate) was delicious, the waffle cone tasted fresh, and they were generous with toppings.
Was craving froyo the other day and found out that this truck is in front of the Academy of Sciences! On what started out as a warm day, I was excited to take a walk and get some froyo. As luck would have it, as soon as we stepped outside the fog had rolled in and the line was moving super slowly for froyo. But the cold and the long wait would not prevent me from fulfilling my craving! By the time I got my froyo the fog was so thick I could barely see the ferris wheel. I got a classic vanilla dipped cone and the TCHO chocolate was pretty thick. I expected a thin shell but it was legit fancy chocolate. My boyfriend got a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles and I swear the kid before us got more sprinkles than us lol. Just because he doesn't look like a kid doesn't mean he love sprinkles like one . Overall it is a little pricey but the ingredients are quality and my craving was fulfilled!

Great ice cream truck at SF Tunnel Top park! Location is on the curb at the lower level edge of the park. The menu had a build your own Mitchell's ice cream/soft serve style. You pick the base flavor, then waffle cone, cake cone or cup, and lastly optional toppings of sprinkles, almonds, Oreos, a variety of syrups. They were sold out of several flavors but luckily had Mitchell's grasshopper pie, which is one of my favorites. As a splurge, I opted for the Tcho chocolate dip in a cup. My sundae was chocolatey, rich, minty fresh with yummy Oreo cookies. Lovely treat in this area! read more

Found this ice cream truck located behind the golden gate bandshell this past Sunday, while my bf and I were hanging out in the area before an event we had plans to attend later in the evening. There was a long wait, with just one guy in the truck helping customers. But he was professional and friendly with a cheerful attitude. The place was sold out of lots of flavors, sauces, and toppings on the menu by late afternoon. But there were still some good options available like Mitchell's coffee flavored ice cream and grasshopper pie. We ended up just getting chocolate soft serve in a cup with TCHO chocolate dip, and it was simple, yet the perfect cold and creamy dessert to get my chocolate fix for the day, especially with the yummy hardened layer of chocolate fudge I absolutely love. read more

Nice little set-up behind the bandshell. Not a huge selection but high quality. They could use 2 people working though. The line was slow despite the kids hustle. Grab a cone and go enjoy some free entertainment! read more

Simple yet so AMAZING. We waited a bit in line but it was for real worth it. The chocolate was so thick and creamy and delicious (TCHO). Make sure to top it with sea salt for the real vibes. I would 10/10 recommend this place! I will definitely be coming back again and again. read more
CASH ONLYYYYYY. Hopefully this post will have helped some yelpers go to the atm before heading here :) FYI that there IS a janky atm right on Lincoln and 9th so if you don't have money, that's the closest place to get that doughhh. I got the vanilla and chocolate twirl with the chocolate dip. The dip isn't completely hardened so biting into it, it was a bit soft. Not that big of a complaint, I just wish that it was an actual *shell* instead. Still good flavor though. I love that they're located inside Golden Gate Park - this truck is a perfect pit stop for dates or a family outing! Be sure to grab a couple of extra napkins because the ice cream has no regards for your hands! read more

Ahh sweet vanilla bean soft serve. How I love you so! And so tenderly wrapped in a toasty waffle cone with a sprinkling of rainbow sprinkles? Could you be any more gorgeous? You are my new weekend delight, the light in my cold, foggy SF days. The size of my ice cream was well worth the cost (and with no-contact Venmo payment too!). I im(patiently) await this year's seasonal flavors, but until then, it's just you and me vanilla bean. read more

Meh... it was ok, nothing special. Line was long so I just knew this place was going to be great... well.. it was average. Maybe my wife ordered something Basic, but it was just vanilla ice cream & crushed up Oreos at the top none in the middle or bottom. Maybe next time I'll do the ordering instead. read more

I'm going to level with you. It's an expensive ice cream cone. That's the only reason it's not 5 stars. Other than that its really good, lots of great topping options but you really have to get it dipped in chocolate. That's the move. I also appreciated that they took venmo as a payment option. read more

This is the best dessert truck! A parent had booked them to surprise our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. The guy working the truck (pictured below) is the nicest ever, he was incredibly patient with our non English speaking staff and flavors / toppings were delicious!! Highly recommend visiting them or even booking them for events! read more

This is such a great spot to get a sweet treat! The line usually takes a while, but it's so worth the wait! I got the chocolate dipped swirl soft serve with sea salt on top. Last time I went they didn't have sea salt as a topping on the menu, but you can still ask for it. It makes it so much better! read more

This is the best chocolate dipped soft serve ice cream cone I've ever had!! I asked the worker if I could split one serving into half so my little kids could have the right portion and he was more than happy to that. We got the chocolate vanilla swirl. As he handed me the two cones he apologized that they were leaking (I understand that it would leak since the ice cream to hot chocolate ratio was off) . I saw white liquid with black specks( yep, real vanilla bean) trickle down and I knew just then that I was in for a treat. The chocolate was sooooo delicious, thick and just the right consistency and the cone... Oh the cone. It was the best cone ever!! The ice cream was rich and flavorful and I loved the two flavors together. They're located on a main road in Golden gate park, right next to bike rentals, the Japanese tea garden, de young museum and the academy of sciences. The prices are a bit higher than average but that's because it's high quality ice cream in a great location. I'd buy this ice cream again in a heartbeat. Great ice cream and great service in a beautiful park with perfect weather! read more
It was a normal freezing day in golden gate park. What a perfect way to enjoy a nice cup of delicious ice cream! I had their sundae special, lol and we were there on a Sunday waiting in line for the cal academy of science free day. The ice cream was delicious! It was a hard hit with $9 but there was plenty of toppings. A little too much toppings.....but it was great! There was only one worker there and even through there were people waiting, he made it in a good amount of time and it looked beautiful! I would try their dipped cones next time! read more

Yum! Great soft serve at Golden Gate Park! I called ahead of time to confirm that they were going to be there, got through after 2 calls and the guy said they were in front of the California Academy of Sciences. Sure enough they were, but keep in mind that there might be a long line. My friend and I waited almost an hour as there was only one dude running the truck. It was a really nice sunny day out too so you know what that means, everyone wants to be outside and naturally the park was filled with people! Still worth a try but not sure if I'd want to wait that long again. I got a vanilla bean sundae with chocolate syrup, homemade honeycomb, and choc chips. All sundaes get topped with whip cream and a black cherry. I loooooove honeycomb!!! Keep in mind they only take cash and Venmo. read more

A hidden gem in Golden Gate Park! If you're going for a walk and are passing by the Academy of Sciences, make sure you stop by this truck! They only have a few ice cream / froyo flavors, but the quality is so good - definitely ask for the ice cream dipped in chocolate (TCHO). What we loved is that the chocolate shell didn't get too hard which spoke to how good the chocolate was. Not sure what their hours are so I'd just check Twitter or their website to see where they are. read more

TWIRL the ice cream and DIP it in chocolate! I was addicted after I tried my first Twirl and Dip dipped cone. This is different from any other ordinary dipped ice cream cone. I think of it is a hybrid between frozen yogurt and ice cream. It's not quite frozen yogurt, but ice cream in the form of frozen yogurt. The rich ice cream is creamed with organic milk, making it the perfect consistency. The hints of vanilla bean blends well and brings out the sweetness. It's dipped in very good quality TCHO chocolate. Of course, no ice cream cone is complete without the chocolate shell. Service: The guy at the window is patient and helpful. However, I saw that he doesn't wear gloves and uses his bare hands, after he touched money, to sprinkle the salt onto the cones, which has not very sanitary. Even though it's a bit pricey for an ice cream cone, it's worth every penny. read more

I love Mitchell's ice cream as much as the next person - especially the grasshopper pie - but unless you're not from the area there is no reason you should be paying $3.50 for a scoop of Mitchell's. In fact, you should never be ordering a scoop of Mitchell's ever anyway - you need to drive to Mitchell's and buy your ice cream by the bulk. That would be doing Mitchell's right. To do Twirl and Dip right, you need to get the organic soft serve, upgrade to the sugar cone (extra $1.50), choose a topping or two (ranges from an extra $0.50-$1.50, depending), and pay with cash. My husband and I are especially partial to vanilla bean + toffee pieces but when it's a celebration, we'll pay the extra $1.50 to dip in TCHO chocolate and get some of that sea salt goodness. It's crazy to have ice cream from a truck that costs almost $10 but we all need to treat ourselves and loved ones now and then, right? I've never regretted an indulgence here and I promise neither will you! read more
Stopped by here on a whim after a quite filling lunch and several drinks. Tipsy me enjoys random ice cream adventures. Hell, sober me enjoys random ice cream adventures. This truck is quite easy to find and parking wasn't an issue. However, they are cash only so be prepared. My boyfriend and I shared a chocolate and vanilla swirl soft serve on a cone with honeycomb candy. Yum! I really enjoyed all the flavors, however next time I would try the chocolate dip. The honeycomb candy was scrumptious but a little crunchy with the soft serve. Prices a bit steep, but that's for everywhere in the city. Grab a cone and enjoy the beauty golden gate park has to offer. read more

When I was out in San Fran a year ago my friend told me about a magical soft serve ice cream truck that dishes out chocolate dipped cones with sea salt. I was buggin. I had to have some. Unfortunately the day we were to go it was raining and the Twirl and Dip truck did not make an appearance. SADNESS. This year I was determined. I'd be dreaming about those cones all year long, after all. It was a fairly warm, sunny day and we made our way over to Golden Gate Park to get our ice cream on. When we arrived I was overwhelmed. There were the aforementioned dipped cones but also ice cream sodas, popsicles, sundaes and more. I knew I had to get the cone but I also opted for the butterscotch ice cream soda. I'm a little bit crazy when it comes to sugar. I watched the gal inside the truck make the soda. It was insane. I don't know what I was thinking but I was expecting the sheer magnitude of stuff that went into it. Multiple scoops of ice cream, soda water, and about half a bottle of butterscotch syrup, more ice cream, more soda, whipped cream, more butterscotch. I was like "Oh crap. What have I done." Luckily I was with 3 other people who were more than happy to help me polish that baby off. And it was gone pretty quickly. It is VERY sweet. If you like sugar and butterscotch definitely order this. If you're not big on sugar I would avoid at all costs. As I mentioned, I am big on sugar so I was in heaven. Buzzy, twitchy, delicious heaven. The ice cream cone was a bit less intense but no less delicious. I ordered mine in a hand-made sugar cone. The cone was fantastic but if I'm being honest I probably wouldn't order it again, if only for the cleanliness factor. it tasted amazing but it was shaped in such a way that it made eating the ice cream a bit challenging. By the end I was a sticky mess and there wasn't really a place around for me to go wash my hands. The ice cream was smooth and creamy with a solid vanilla flavor to it. The chocolate was Tcho fair trade dark chocolate and sprinkled with Maldon sea salt. It was rich, not too sweet, and had a lovely salty crunch. I'm craving it just as I think about it. I'm sad this truck doesn't exist near me in Michigan but with such delicious, sugary offerings maybe it's a good thing! ;) read more
