I've been coming here since I was a little kid and what truly sets this place apart is their massive lineup of unique, Asian-inspired, and inventive flavors. While they have all the classics, you can also get adventurous scoops like Durian, Black Sesame, Taro, Jasmine Tea, and Lychee. Everything is incredibly fresh, creamy, and packed with authentic flavor. The absolute best part of the experience is their famous "Wheel of Fortune". Love that they have Asian inspired flavors. I saw this video posted by Dion Lim and I was intrigued that an ice cream parlor has over 70 in house flavors. I went the non-traditional route and got coffee with brownies and coffee with Oreo. These were the flavors that were recommended to me. It did not miss! I also got a scoop of spicy mango sherbet for my boyfriend and boy that thing was spicy! Will be coming back soon to try other flavors. Not the best ice cream but 10/10 experience. They have a flavor wheel if you can't decide on the flavor! Kids loved it. They had fun flavor names like starwars (mint) , Dubai and bumpy freeway, and baby yoda. With so many good-sounding options, I narrowed down my top contenders to Coffee Brownie and Coffee & Oreo Bits; I ultimately went with a scoop of the latter & was so pleased with the sweet & strong flavors. Since I was sharing, and who by the way, shares ice cream?! I did it lol Two scoops and we were on our way. One scoop was root beer float, and the other scoop is what Polly Ann's is known for, Brigadeiro! It's a flavor inspired by the traditional Brazilian dessert. This is a must have for chocolate lovers. It's sinfully delicious! It's rich creamy yumminess, that is a combination of chocolate, condensed milk, and chocolate flakes! It truly doesn't get better than this. On one hand, I'm glad that there was only one scoop, because I absolutely could have and would have eaten more, and on the other hand, when I'm back in the area, I definitely will stop by and get a pint to go. Yes my friends, it is that good! The customer service was spot on, everybody was so incredibly sweet and nice, even the other customers! Parking was unbelievably fairly easy, which of course makes it even more appealing for me to go back in the future. So I grew up around the neighborhood. I actually went to school at holy name and Francis Scott Key. Me and my girlfriend were around the area last night, walking my dog and thought we would swing by. They have a different flavor called Ube crunch spicy mango and pond on lines can be very long sometimes, but the line was very fast as a customer service here is very fast and friendly as well. Long overdue review! I used to go to middle school right down the street so Polly Ann's was an afterschool staple :) I'm so glad to see them still open & thriving! I love all of the different flavors they have here, it's so hard to pick just one! They allow you to get a split scoop for an extra 50 cents. We ended up getting a congee / coffee brownie split scoop. I love how the congee tasted like a creamy rice pudding. It was really refreshing! The brownie bits in the coffee ice cream were generous and the actual coffee ice cream itself was the perfect sweetness. The staff here are all so kind, friendly, and patient. They really take their time answering any questions and giving out any samples that you want to try. The highlight of my visit was the free pup cone they gave us! I have passed by this ice cream shop and decided to come for a sweet treat after a late lunch. I'm so glad I did! The interior is very cute inside. There are a couple tables to sit. There are plenty of workers to assist you so the wait is not that long. They have so many flavors. I was surprised to see they had some Asian flavors, but also, don't be shy to ask what some of them are because the staff is very friendly and was patient to let me try a couple. The Star Wars flavor is what I ended up getting, it was a birthday cake flavored ice cream with marshmallows and sprinkles. I also got a black sesame that had great smoky flavor. If you split a junior (two flavors), then it is just an additional 50 cents, if you're not feeling like too much ice cream, but want a taste. They have a lot more on the menu with brownies, cookies and a possibility for an affogato. I think I even saw a sign for sandwiches? Looking forward to coming here again to try out more flavors. The staff was patient with me as I was choosing which flavor to get. I ended up ordering their Bumpy Freeway and Matcha Green Tea ice cream. The bumpy freeway is similar to rocky road ice cream, it's very chocolatey and includes nuts & marshmallows. Their matcha green tea ice cream had the perfect sweetness and matcha flavor, i throughly enjoyed it! I also tried their fruity flavors including Honeydew and Lychee. After dinner, we stopped at Poly Ann Ice Cream for dessert. Their internet following and rating was decent. As we entered on Friday night, the store was empty and there were two young workers behind the counter. The employees were pleasant but not overly eager to work. The flavors have interesting names but NO information as to what is included in the flavor. Samples were allowed but it does not allow the consumer to know the ingredients prior to trying. Food allergies, taste preferences and an insight into what you are going to eat is only natural for consumers today. The ice cream was fair but management here needs to step up to the plate and define their product. How do you sell a product to consumers who has no idea what it contains and not allowed to visualize the said product? I did not enjoy the ice cream and disliked that I had to ask about the ingredients for each flavor. It puts so much pressing the young help and a huge liability especially with nuts and allergies. I have never been more confused as to what I was paying for and if I would like it or was allergic to it. To me, Poly Ann ice cream is a hobby and not a defined business. I don't know if they have Durian, but durian is so weird which allows me to be excited that a place would express unique choices 4(!!!!) the wheel of choices!!! Last time I went and all the times before what I would do is spend way too much time (usually 6 spoons worth) of sampling. THEN I would spend the wheel. Whatever it lands on the person can either pick that number, or whatever is before it or after it. Cool thing: they all taste delicious! So no matter what you choose, it'll be fun! Can't believe that I haven't written a review for Polly Ann yet but I guess that makes sense since I've been going to Polly Ann since before Yelp was even a thought! Tl;dr: Polly Ann has the OG Asian-inspired ice creams and continues to churn out (see what I did there?) both classic and new original flavors that are high quality, creamy, and on point. Taro will forever and always be my go to, but jasmine tea is a really close second favorite! I've been going to Polly Ann since I was a wee child, back when they were in their old location halfway up the block. They may not have the cool steps up to the highest counter ever anymore, but the ice cream is the same. It's rare for things that I loved as a child to withstand the test of time and maturity of my taste buds, but Polly Ann has been able to consistently provide the nostalgia associated with going out for ice cream and the positive experience of calories well spent. They've kept the cool tiles for their menu and the roulette wheel if you can't decide, but the new space is bright and open, and the freezers are easy access to pick up a quick pint/quart/gallon on your way home. The flavors: As above, taro is my favorite and I can't leave without one scoop of at least that. Jasmine tea, turkish coffee, green tea, lychee, coffee & oreo cookie, and black sesame are all excellent. If you love creamy ice cream with flavors exactly as you would imagine and hope for them to taste, you can't go wrong with Polly Ann. Polly Ann is totally underrated. Long line but it wasn't too long to wait. The list of flavors Is super long so it was actually helpful so I could read them all. The only thing that annoys me is that they don't properly label their candy prices. I was finding out what they costed at the register. All I saw was a sign for $3 and .50 but some items were $2 even from the bottom shelf (.50). As for the ice cream, the Brie black raspberry walnut was amazing perfectly balanced. I think it will be my go to from now on. The black tea boba was also very flavorful and not watery at all. My partner loved the brigadiero but for me I think there was too much almond oil or something. There were some tables inside if you wanted to sit but you would have to wait for them probably. It will be very crowded so be prepared, especially if it's sunny. read more
