Great jasmine tea ice cream flavor! Good portion for the smallest scoop. Hoping to try more flavors :)

No frills ice cream shop with innovative flavors. I got matcha green tea & Thai tea and enjoyed every bite before I dropped it on the ground!!

After a very long day, your girl needed a sweet treat. When I'm in San Francisco, I definitely have my go to's for dessert and specifically for ice cream. I was cruising down the street and I spy a new ice cream shop ( new to me) that made me park and check it out. Let me just say, this absolutely is the San Francisco treat! I don't think I've been this excited about tasty ice cream in a long time. Pollyann ice cream, is absolutely worth the stop! They have a variety of flavors, all of which sound like a must in my book. Since I was sharing, and who by the way, shares ice cream?! I did it lol Two scoops and we were on our way. One scoop was root beer float, and the other scoop is what Polly Ann's is known for, Brigadeiro! It's a flavor inspired by the traditional Brazilian dessert. This is a must have for chocolate lovers. It's sinfully delicious! It's rich creamy yumminess, that is a combination of chocolate, condensed milk, and chocolate flakes! It truly doesn't get better than this. On one hand, I'm glad that there was only one scoop, because I absolutely could have and would have eaten more, and on the other hand, when I'm back in the area, I definitely will stop by and get a pint to go. Yes my friends, it is that good! The customer service was spot on, everybody was so incredibly sweet and nice, even the other customers! Parking was unbelievably fairly easy, which of course makes it even more appealing for me to go back in the future. That, and the fact that I absolutely need to try some of their other flavors that not only look good, but sound pretty tasty. As a total must know- this lovely ice cream place is also known for their durian flavored ice cream, but more importantly, this is the ice cream shop that Anthony Bourdain loved so much!

So I grew up around the neighborhood. I actually went to school at holy name and Francis Scott Key. Me and my girlfriend were around the area last night, walking my dog and thought we would swing by. They have a different flavor called Ube crunch spicy mango and pond on lines can be very long sometimes, but the line was very fast as a customer service here is very fast and friendly as well. Some kids that work here go to SI or different schools around the neighborhood. I grew up here in this district, so make sure to come check them out.

All our ice creams were very well. I had the chocolate mocha with sprinkles. It was so good! Staff was very helpful in helping us choose what flavor. Even though they had a huge line. We were able to eat ice cream as the sun was going down.

Quaint neighborhood ice cream spot with dozens of unique flavors! It was almost impossible for my friend and I to decide what to order, everything sounded amazing. We were excited by the sheer number of flavors that were Asian-inspired. We sampled the brigadeiro and ube white chocolate flavors and staff was so patient as we made our decisions. I ultimately settled on the chocolate brownie, which nearly had more brownie per bite than ice cream. I LOVE a good chunky ice cream, so this was a massive hit for me. It was so rich I actually couldn't even finish a single scoop. My fried selected the tiramisu and was equally happy with his choice. Prices were fair, generous portions, and no wait on a Wednesday night about 30 minutes before closing. Would come back again!

Stopped by on a Sat afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. They let us try several flavors before picking, I'm more into classic flavors but ended up with the Jasmine tea which was very floral and everyone in my group agreed it was delicious! Plus sprinkles because why would you not add sprinkles. I'm too much of a chicken to spin the wheel but my sister has gotten the free spot before. Excellent as always

My 3-year-old son remembers the name Poly Ann--whenever we say "ice cream," that's the first place he mentions! He absolutely loves the strawberry flavor; it's his all-time favorite. I usually go for the Choco Brownies, which I sadly missed this time since it wasn't available when we stopped by earlier. Still, the flavors we had were delicious, and the experience always brings happy smiles. We'll definitely be back again.

    Thai tea ice cream

Polly Ann ice cream is a classic ice cream shop that is fun with lots of different flavors! I got the Thai tea ice cream-- not a strong Thai tea flavor but creamy. I wanted to try all the flavors and was getting confused at which flavor to pick because there were so many unique ones. There is a wheel that you can spin that will choose you flavor for you but you're not obligated to get that flavor. There is minimal seating with two tables and a few chairs. Parking is street parking and few parking stalls. Service is quick. I will come back to try different flavors.

First time trying Polly Ann Ice Cream and it was so good! There are so many different ice cream flavors. I went with a Jr. scoop of Cherry Vanilla. No line when I went and service was fast and friendly. If you want a single scoop but 2 flavors you'll have to pay .50 for split flavors. Polly Ann Ice Cream is close to Ocean Beach and definitely a great spot to check out after the beach. Looking forward to coming back and trying some of their other desserts -- big selection of cookies/brownies.

Got a junior cup with mango and lychee. Good size -2 big scopes for $4.50. Not a bad deal. Mango wasn't the usual mango. A bit tangy. Lychee was good with bits of lychee. I wanted sesame at first but they didn't have it in their 50+ flavors. Tried the pineapple hibiscus, it was interesting. But not enough to have a scoop.

Came in for ice cream after dinner and right before they were going to close! Really nice service. Ordered Pandan, cookie & cream but I forgot the 3rd flavor. It was extra yummy after eating lots of salty food.

By far the 2nd best ice cream shop in the Bay. And if you're value conscious Polly Ann's serves up some real bargain treats here. Just like Mitchell's, Poly Ann's also has tropical flavors too and some unique middle eastern flavors too. If you don't know what to choose, you can take a chance and spin the wheel to land on a flavor to try. The staff is always here to help you try some flavors you have yet to try. If you haven't been here yet, you really need to.

Are there celiac safe / gluten free options?

Hello, Nancy, Yes! We have plenty of Gluten-Free options. Most of our ice creamis gluten free, only those containing cookies or similar baked goods, are likely to contain gluten. Please ask to our staff and they will let you know.…

When is the durian flavor coming back? ;(

We currently have scoops and tubs of Durian available at Polly Ann

Ranch 99 and Marina supermarkets used to carry their ice cream in various flavors (sesame, taro and green tea etc) in tubs. No longer selling them this year (in SF Bay Area). Why?!

    They sell these in store.

Is American Beauty (rose) flavor available now?

I have not yet seen this flavor in store.

Is there sugar free ice cream?

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

We originally went to the location near Union Square, thinking we'd be able to grab pastries and hot chocolate, only to realize it's primarily a retail shop with chocolate bars and merchandise. We ended up making our way to the Valencia Street location, and I'm so glad we did. We learned that it used to be the original factory before they outgrew the space. Production has since moved a few blocks away, and now this location offers classes, a café, and plenty of chocolate treats. While we were there, a chocolate-making class was in session, and it was fun to watch part of it. The instructor even came over to chat with us and answer a few questions, which was such a nice personal touch. We ordered the brownie bite flight along with a hot chocolate, and both were fantastic. The brownie flight was rich, flavorful, and a fun way to sample different chocolates. The hot chocolate came with a tiny cookie that was absolutely delicious. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought our hot chocolate was supposed to come with a marshmallow and didn't see one. When we mentioned it, the instructor smiled and showed us a toppings station we had completely missed. There were homemade marshmallows, flavored sugar cubes, and other little extras you could add yourself. He even encouraged us to take a few extra marshmallows, and they were some of the best I've ever had. One thing to know before you go is that Dandelion Chocolate focuses on high-quality chocolate that isn't overly sweet. If you're expecting the sugary milk chocolate flavor of a candy bar, this is a different experience. The chocolate has a richer, more complex flavor, and we really enjoyed trying something different. Between the friendly staff, delicious treats, and unique experience, I'd definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary--just make sure you head to the café location if you're looking for food and drinks!
