No no no, please, no! If this locale is the only experience you've had with Dallas-based TRB, then you really don't know the greatness you're missing out on. I promise. Even though there is a TRB in my current home of Austin, and I road trip to Dallas frequently so I can get my good burger fix often, I was very excited they had opened a DFW spot...almost every. single. flight. out of Austin has a connection/layover in DFW so what better way to fill your tummy than with a wonderful Bison burger and a large selection of nom nom pickles (only a few to choose from here)? Turns out...many...Meh..."( The people who run this place are clueless, from cashiers to cooks and even managers. The counter service moves pretty fast, but the food takes forever to get - especially in an airport. And then, when you do finally receive said food and the orders are completely wrong, patties not cooked properly, unmelted cheese, etc., who has the time or patience to ask for a re-order?! They simply do not have all of the options of "exotic" meats as other locations and the quality control is nonexistent. The only thing this DFW TRB spot has going for it is the view of the tarmac and planes while setting at the bar area....and "there's your sign!" ***If you get the chance to eat at a "real" TRB (i.e., NOT the airport one), please, give them a try...especially the OG Deep Ellum numero uno store. I had approximately twenty minutes to catch my next flight and it was early in the morning. Breakfast was not on my mind so I decided to stop here and get a burger. I ordered a cheeseburger meal and had it made to go so I could eat it on the plane. I was sad to see that my fries were merely cold as a sat down on the plane. Only about 8 minutes had gone by and they were not fresh anymore. On the other hand, my burger was steaming hot! I knew that this was fresh. I have to say this was easily one of the better meals I have had at an airport over the years! I was hanging in the Dallas airport for a few hours and I hadn't eaten yet and this place was close to my gate and had a Vegan Burger, so I thought I would give it a whirl, grab a beer and some fries to go with it and it held me over as the only meal I had the whole day of travel! The service was good, it always seems airport bartenders/waiters always seem to be on their phone or not paying attention when you actually need or want something but this young man did a pretty good job! The bar area where I sat was super clean, and had outlets so I could plug in my computer to work and my phone to get a charge! 'I Twis-ted Root, and I like it--the taste of pick-les-a-tomic!' I managed to arrive in between waves of passengers and ordered a Big Texas with fries. I was asked to draw a name. Got 'Chris Tucker' the name used to call me when my order was ready. I told her now I have to be all rude and all. She laughed. While waiting for my order, I sampled the 4 types of pickles--from dill, bread and butter, sweet and spicy, but my fave was atomic. Soon, I was killing the pickles! The burger was acceptable having shrunk a lot from being cooked to well done. The guacamole was viscous and decadent without any of the usual distracting acids often added to prevent oxidation. The onion ring strings were crisp the cheddar cheese was dry and baked on, further suggesting that my burger was a but tired. The bun was fluffy and well grilled. The fries were awesome. Crispy, hot and fluffy inside. Salted just right, they were a delight eaten with Chipotle Ketchup. In all, a strong performance at reasonable prices for a busy airport terminal. read more

We had a 3 hour layover at DFW and went to twisted root for a burger. Service was great, burger and fries were great. We also got a house salad am which was average but healthy servings of bacon and cheese. We had good cocktails. We allowed the bartender to make some drinks of his choosing. Steve did a fabulous job. The female at the counter is both working the register and prepping food. The good news is she is wearing gloves. The bad news is she doesn't change them between activities. I just watched her take my $20 dollar bill and give me back four ones and change them she turned around and picked up toasted buns from the toaster, then French fries and put them in a container all with the same gloves that just touched paper money. Now she has prepared my food too. What would you do? Discreetly tell her what you saw so they can re-make your food and possibly do something worse to it? Throw it and $16+ away? Live in denial and eat it? I'm going to try #3 but she ruined this place for my future business. I'm sure I've eaten much worse germs but I didn't see them first. We debated a bit about where to eat in this terminal, but after we walked by Twisted Root, nothing else looked as good. A quick look at the Yelp reviews showed that the business manager even cared enough to respond to reviews. The staff here is great. We sat up at the bar and ordered a drink and a burger each. There are local craft brews available, which was awesome. The ones we got were good quality. The burgers themselves are thick and well put-together. We were very happy with the food. We also got a few pickles from the pickle bar (delicious) and I added some of their homemade ketchup to my burger. This was one of the better burgers I've had, very satisfying. The only knock I have is the price. Of course it is expensive because it is in the airport, but it was difficult to even know what kind of $ you'd be spending. When you get the receipt there is this strange listing of "base" prices for items, then "additions" that adjust that price. It was unclear from the get-go, so my wife got a burger she probably wouldn't have gotten if she knew just how pricey it was. read more

Corey was rude, definitely should not be working the cashier. Then got my order completely wrong with a different burger that was $5 cheaper than what I ordered but I was already sitting at my gate so didn't want to go back. Burger wasn't anything special. I've had onion strings that are really onion strings. These are just thin onion rings. Then they weren't crispy. Not from the start. I literally ate less than 10 before I threw them away (Bye,bye, my American dough [sung to the tune of American Pie]. The waitress is all the keeps this from being a 1*, because she was really nice. They make their "patties" by mixing some rice and beans and plopping it on the bun. We have been a fan at the various locations around DFW area. We were surprised to find one in the DFW airport. My wife and I shared the Ranch Burger and onion straws. We were not disappointed. Food was good and hot... friendly service. Pickle bar still at this location. Beer still very cold. The only reason I did not g 85 very then 5 stars was the place needed some attention.. they could of been a bit more ontop of this... as there were only a few tables occupied at the time.. maybe they were slammed before...
