A wonderfully friendly staff and incredibly accommodating for my complicated food allergies!!! I am on the Autoimmune Paleo Diet, and this is the only restaurant in the entire DFW airport that I was able to find food. They made me a super fresh lettuce wrapped burger with pickles and onions and it was a lifesaver, because I am also pre diabetic. I really appreciate their kindness, courtesy and understanding with my complicated special order. I was very happy to receive this outstanding service from Manager Sam, Nareem, and Louis. If you are on any variation of the paleo diet, this is THE BEST restaurant to find accommodations in the airport. It is located in terminal A. The food was delicious. My burger was cooked to perfection. Additionally, they provided for my allergies (gluten-free bun and dairy-free everything). Service with a smile and very pleasant. Shenouda Alfy is friendly and helpful as manager, which is an exception for most food establishments in DFW airport. The food is good too, despite it being a chain restaurant. My only critique is the prices are way too high, but I guess that's what you get inside of airport security. read more

Atmosphere: Clean Came here because I had a 3 hr layover before my next flight. I was starving after a 4 hour flight and was in the search for some good food. Employees: The old man at the front was very rude in the way he spoke and was not friendly at all. He also didn't even look at us while taking our order he kept watching the tv and we had to keep repeating ourselves. He just wasn't interested in us at all and didn't hand us our change back just threw it down and walked away to watch tv but he was nice to the other old man sitting watching tv? We also had to ask for our own money back and he didn't even give us our drink cups we ordered we had to go back and grab it ourselves. And the old guy was just staring at us like it was wrong to grab a cup we should have been given. Food: The burgers were pretty pricy we got the western burger and it didn't even have any sauce just lettuce, tomato, meat, cheese, jalapeño. It was suppose to come with onion rings inside but instead they apparently gave us grilled onions we told them and they said they ran out of it. And then they forgot to add our bacon, We notified them and they just laughed, rolled their eyes and said they forgot as if wanting the correct order we ordered was such a big issue. And didnt even make the bacon fresh they grabbed what was sitting to the side. For the price your paying there for a burger should at least be made correctly. The 7-Eleven across the hall had better service than them. The meat was still juicy just a cold burger. I couldn't eat half of it just threw it away. Didn't want to complain for the money back, just know I would not recommend this spot to anybody. Overall: This is why I gave it one star, they ruined my whole wait at the airport and completely took my mood from in a great mood to completely low. A strong 3.5 meal! We were stuck in Terminal A when the hunger pangs hit and ended up here. While the menu is short, it's lovingly focused on what they do well - burgers - and even beckons to non-meat eaters in the crowd such as myself. The appropriately named Vegabond Burger was my choice for lunch, along with an order of straight cut fries. The generously-sized patty, formed from chickpeas, black bean, brown rice, and quinoa, was served on a hearty bun and topped with avocado mash and Sriracha sauce. Pluses? The burger tasted wonderful and the patty was especially impressive, with a seared crisp on the outside. On a slight downside, there wasn't enough binding and the patty completely fell apart before the first bite even made it to my mouth. Still, I suppose that's what spoons are for. The fries were fresh and had good crunch even in their lukewarm states at the end of our meal. Twisted Root loves its condiments and provides customers with a well-stocked pickle bar (four kinds! Who even knew there were that many?) as well as some free-flowing bottles of ketchup and housemade barbecue sauce. Customer service is just fine, though we had to wipe down the residual messes left behind on our table (and saw that several others had to do the same). So if you come, please be polite and clean up after yourself! I leave you with a fun fact - don't be surprised if your receipt bears the name of someone else. Orders are called up by the names of random celebrities. Where else can you be enchantingly mistaken for Beyoncé or Brad Pitt? Enjoy your nanosecond in the spotlight! read more

Maryam is the worst. Short tempered and unhappy service. If you're not happy to give service, why work in service? Order was wrong (good thing we checked her work and manager David Tracy who is Awesome, fixed it). Here's the kicker why I'm leaving this review... She came around from behind the register to point at the tip option and stand there and watch your percentage pick!! Who does that!? At that point I picked 15% in hopes she doesn't spit in our food. We had an hour before our plane started boarding so we decided to have lunch at the Twisted Root Burger Company. Their burger menu looked amazing so it was difficult to make a decision. We decided to order the kevin bacon, the verde, the freshman 15 and the classic. All of the burgers were tasty but two of the four were horribly over cooked and extremely dry. We had to send them back and were grateful for the redo. My favorite burger was the kevin bacon. It is made with three pieces of bacon and danish blue cheese. The verde came in second. The guacamole, green chilies and pepper jack cheese was an awesome flavor combination. The loaded fries were so loaded that as it cooled it turned into a loaf. It was one big lump of fries, cheese and bacon. read more

I really, really wanted to like Twisted Root, but my burger was a disaster. The meat was BEYOND well done and came out super dry and tough. It was like eating cardboard. I threw out the burger after getting halfway through it and just ate the mushrooms and fries that came with the burger. The other significant issue was the lack of apparent organization or ability to deal with an ordering rush. For some reason they did not attend to my order until 20 minutes later - after 5-10 people behind me already got theirs. I didn't get anything special either - just the mushroom burger on their menu. I received repeated apologies from a young gentleman behind the counter, but apologies would have been a moot point if I was in a rush. My experience was not at all what I expected. Let's start with the positive. Great location because it was conveniently located near my gate and the prize was reasonable. I arrived to my connection gate at 9 pm, I saw this restaurant and was attracted to eat here. When we arrived there were only 4 people waiting to order. The services looked rushed and disorganized, for some reason our order got lost and we waited about 18 minutes to be served and to top it off my order was missing the meat. I've heard in passing, people mentioning Twisted Root Burgers. I never did however, hear what they thought about it. So when I was preparing to fly out of Dallas Fort Worth I noticed that there was a Twisted Root in terminal A of the DFW airport. This is my experience; The staff welcomed me, and was very friendly. As with most airport restaurants, it was a little rushed, but that was to be expected. I placed my order, and after inserting my credit card to pay the lady at the counter stepped around to the credit card machine, and asked me to choose one of the tip amounts above my total. I was a little surprised at this, and how it seemed to be the norm. I would have normally given a tip anyway, but this slightly rub me the wrong way. I did not let on and went ahead and chose the tip amount I preferred. When I received my food I was pretty underwhelmed. It was simply a burger patty with cheese on to dry buns. I had not noticed that condiments were not listed on the menu board. I expected it to come out with something at least on the side. I asked where I could find some mayonnaise, and was pointed to some containers of the highly processed goo. After preparing the burger the way I normally would I was expecting an amazing burst of flavor from the meat and cheese however, it was about the same as any other burger you get somewhere but twice the price. The fries were advertised as hand, punched whatever that means. They were simply a rendition of steak fries, and I am not sure they were anything other than frozen prior to being fried. In the end, I got a burger and fries with no drink for $20 and some change. My rating of Twisted Root Burger Company. The burger and fries were absolutely delicious. If the fries weren't hand cut, they sure tasted it. The Kevin Bacon burger and the not-too-salty fries are worthy of four stars and the bartender was also very personable and attentive. The only reasons I'm stuck on 4 stars is because the menu could have been a little more expansive/creative and because the blue cheese on my burger was blue cheese dressing, as in salad dressing. There was so much on there I had to scoop some off. The bacon was also a little overcooked. The kitchen successfully cooked my burger medium, against apparent airport regulations. The menu states along the lines "all burgers are cooked medium well unless you speak up." To translate, that means all burgers are cooked medium well unless you want it cooked well. Airport regulations supposedly inhibit them from cooking your patty less than medium well, even in Texas of all places. I can't speak for the shakes. I wanted one but I took solace in knowing they aren't hand spun or made with real ice cream. Custard and mix, but they looked good nonetheless. The draft beer options suck. Talk about a major surprise! Just happened to come across this Hamburger Joint and because I was in a hurry and there wasn't a huge crowd decided why not? A tad skeptical at first but ordered the regular burger with American cheese and a side of fries. I like everything on my burger, lettuce onion tomatoes and extra pickle. Learned they had 3 pickle options and that I could add them as I pleased. When my burger arrived open faced it was missing tomatoes but what caught my attention was how juicy the hamburger looked. Requested a couple tomatoes and loaded it with a ton of pickles, some mustard, ketchup and mayo and it was delicious! The meat was tasty and the bun was perfect! The right amount of toasting coupled with that airy light feeling. The fries were sooooo darn good as well. Tasty burgers, but an uneven experience. A pretty decent wait to get a burger during lunch hour and then still had to stand and wait another five minutes for the fries? Those should be coming out continually in prime time. And prices are high and nonsensical - a burger with 3 strips of bacon and a pile of Danish bleu cheese is $9.35, but a burger with bacon and aged Swiss cheese is $11.57? Whaaa? And not a tomato to be had in the whole joint. The "cute name" assignment doesn't really work. They tell you that you're Clark Griswold and by the time the food is finally ready they are yelling "clark ... clark" and you're daydreaming and don't tune into that because - well, you're not used to answering to that. Seems most every order they resulted in yelling out what the food was. Numbers, people. Just give us a NUMBER. Score some ancho chipotle ketchup, tho'. That stuff rocks. Let's start with the ugly: seating area not clean and the condiments were empty at several tables. Bad: order was wrong and there seemed to be a lot of confusion with the staff not knowing or how to read the tickets and what was to goin the burger. I ordered the Ranch Hand it it had no peppercorn flavor to the burger total wast of ordering it. They never even put the bacon on it. Good: even though the burger had no peppercorn flavor the burger was still good with good beef taste. The B&B pickle chips were very good as well.
