It may not be much to look at but this little bar houses a Polish Grandmother. Mainly a bar and Pool hall, the kitchen has a small-ish menu of food including a few Polish specialities. They are supposed to be famous for their Pierogi (which we WILL try next time) . I started with some very good Cream of Chicken soup that was everything you would want it to be. I also finished my sister in law's cabbage soup that was full of sausage and very good as well. My wife got the Polish Sausage dinner and I got the breaded pork chop dinner. She is not crazy about sauerkraut and I very much am. I told her I would eat hers and she could have my vegetables, hearing that the restaurant switched them in the kitchen before bringing them out, very nice of them. Growing up in my Polish household breaded pork chops were a staple...but they were not this good. Everything about them was excellent, perfect color, perfectly breaded and amazing. The sauerkraut and mashed potatoes were excellent. My wife enjoyed her large portion of sausage and we both took home enough for dinner the next day. My lovely lady and I decided to give this place a try on a Friday night since we will be moving within 10 minutes of it. Walking in we were greeted with a friendly smile and instantly shown to a table of our choice by the grand fireplace in the dining room. The place has a hometown feel and we felt comfortable browsing the menu. With hearts set on steak we ordered a melt in your mouth King cut prime rib with tangy horseradish sauce and garlic mash that set us back in the chair at first bite. The appetizer soups are homemade and outstanding. With a properly mixed and chilled martini, we were ultimately satisfied with a delicious and reasonably priced dinner. We were compelled to meet and thank owners Jason and Theresa for a great dinner in person. We enjoyed this place so much we ended up staying at the super friendly tavern side and danced to the live band until midnight. We went back to Twisted Rose and gave it a second try. We were able to sit in the dinning room area, where it was quieter. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and it came with crusty bread. Very delicious with lots of juice for the bread. It was $5.00 Burgers night. So we enjoyed good burgers that came with crispy fries. Service was good. Our waitress Cathy was very attentive to our needs. They also have live bands on Friday and Saturday night. I recommend going to Twisted Rose. read more

REVIEW TITLE: A place of many words... Went there the first time with another couple this past Saturday night expecting a lovely dinner. It was the first and last time we will visit this place. When you walk in, it smells of mold and attic smells. The furniture is very old and worn. The wait staff very, very, very unfriendly and the manager was the same. There were two tables filled on a Saturday night at about 6 p.m. no one was there... which had me very curious. It was practically empty on a Saturday at dinner time....very odd! The prices were extremely high considering the lack of Ambiance of this place I expected more and not smells of mold. Save yourself the drive there, the time and money! For how long this place has been in Algonquin, I am surprised that there are not any reviews. But this may also have something to do with why it was so eerily quiet when we went there to try half-price pizza night. The only other people there were the owners and patrons that seemed to be friends of the owners. We were greeted immediately and were able to choose where we wanted to sit. We were promptly given service by the bartender (I think she was also one of the owners). She was very friendly and allowed us to look over the menu without hovering. Prices were decent and the menu had a variety of steaks, seafood, chicken and children's options. We ordered two vodka cocktails and were pleasantly surprised at how generous she was with the alcohol. The drink was well worth the $5 (Better than any other bar for the same price). For dinner, we ordered the pan pizza with two toppings. We had some time to wait due to the type of pizza, so we also ordered mozzarella sticks and a basket of fries. The appetizer wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The only odd thing about Wine and Roses was that we were given paper plates for our appetizer and our pizza. (I wonder if this was only because of the type of food we ordered.) The pizza was very good, as a picky eater, I was pleasantly surprised with its taste. I did notice that the sauce used was the same sauce that was given to us with our mozzarella sticks. Our waitress/bartender(/owner?) gave us two $5 off coupons for our next visit. so new years eve, we went to twisted rose for dinner,she(cathy) took our drink order, then we placed our order..i ordered the $29. prime rib.wanted it medium. i said a little pink is fine,i know cooking meat can be hard some times.so we sat there, had a drink, and then our food comes..my prime rib was rare, THE BLOOD WAS STILL ON TOP OF IT.so i told cathy, and she took it back to the kitchen.it wasn't even 30 seconds, and she returns back to my table with it.(they took it, and slapped it on the flat grill, just to take the pick off of the out side), but the inside remained rare.so i ate the outside of it but it was all fat.i tried a piece of the inside , but it was completely rare, and un-chewable. so again i told her, and she was good enough to comp my meal. she never asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks, or if we wanted desert.the place was dead. there were only 4 tables filled on our side. i left there hungry....btw she never even asked me if ide like something else to eat.i haven't been to the twisted rose since my mom passed 3 years ago. i guess it will be a while til i ever return..wasnt the waitress's fault on the temp of the meat, but she could of asked me if ide like something else to eat, . good luck twisted rose. wish you the best...... read more

If I could give minus stars I would. Same old Wine and Roses tired and dirty decor. Very slow service. Waitresses with peek-a-boo jeans. Very tacky! My burger was cooked as I wanted, but Angus burger? I doubt it. Meat was only ground once, since I had several globs of stringy meat, making it more like a cube steak. I'had high hopes, but it seems to be Wine and Roses warmed over. Not even cleaning the fireplace soot on the outside, how can new owners be so blind as to the decor?? Not us, we'll stick with Jamison's. I'll gladly pay $2 more for their clean, coordinated staff, they've got it going on. Where do I begin? My girl friend and I went out to dinner here on June 12, 2017 because she found a groupon and we were like sweet. $15 for $30 worth of food. Figured we would check it out. we ate in the restaurant part and our waitress was very nice. the restaurant was slow but it was fine. I ordered a calzone and french onion soup n she ordered a medium pepperoni/jalepeno pizza. My calzone was good but it was kind of cold inside. The french onion soup was good but i have had better. we were going to pay and the waitress took the groupon number, not sure it even mattered because i dont think they use computers for orders there. So she gave it back to us. original bill was $44 and she took off $15. we are like its supposed to be $30 off because we already paid $15 to groupon so what would the point of paying $15 to groupon and then them taking off $15 of the bill? makes no sense. so she is like let me get the manager, so she brings over the owner lady, whos somewhat foreign and she ARGUES with us about it and says she does not care what the groupon is for, and people sell them for $2. sorry lady this isnt restaurant.com. you need to figure out how your groupon works or get it off groupon. so the waitress was so embarrassed because how how the OWNER mistreated us. she couldnt apologize enough and we were like its not your fault! so she went to her other manager, Jayson, who adjusted the bill to $30 off because that is what it should have been. he also said he would do it as a one time courtesy. well i hope he plans to do it for EVERYONE using the groupon because that is actually how its supposed to work. if you dont know how your groupon works, you shouldnt be offering it. i dont even want to mention the waitress's name because i literally think this is one of the places that would fire someone over her trying to make up for the managers mistreatment. and that is sad. the restaurant is a dump and they dont even give you napkins you get a bathroom hand towel rolled up. its just awkward. We went to Wine and Roses Restaurant this evening with friends for dinner. We four were the only customers in the restaurant. It was quiet, soft music playing in the background. Nice table by the window. The table we all sat in was comfortable, all captain chairs very comfortable. Our waitress was very polite. Our food was delicious. My spouse had a large Caesar Salad enough for two people also had the Homemade Cabbage Rolls (stuffed with lots of meat), with Mashed Potatoes, tasted like Grandmother used to make, delicious! I had the Black and Blue Chicken sandwich, grilled onions and Blue cheese, which came with fries, tomato, lettuce and pickle. Very good. I highly recommend Wine and Roses Restaurant. Came here with my four children for their "Taco Thursday .99 Taco Night" That I've seen advertised every time I'm passing by. While our Server was nice, the European Owner was Extremely Rude!!! The layout for the tacos was a do it yourself type of service with the greasy meat being served out of crock pots. This old looking lounge had very few customers but the Taco Bar was out of the shells, cheese, guacamole and salsa. While my children were waiting in line for the Super Slow Food To Come Out, The European Woman said very rudely to my kids (Whom are Bi-Racial) "I don't know what to tell you, you're just going to have to wait!" Ten Minutes later as we're eating our last taco. The server comes to our table and says "I'm sorry I didn't know but you need to buy a $6 pitcher of pop in order to get the .99 tacos" False Advertisement and Racial Profiling at its best!!! It wasn't until that Rude B**** saw my kids waiting for the food to All of a sudden say there's a drink purchase requirement! I asked to speak to the owner and she wouldn't even come to my table and instead told the server "that's just the way it is" while she was being a complete Wino at the bar with her pal. First of all, I was really excited to finally be able to try this place. I hear about it on 103.9 radio all the time. I will make this short & sweet. I don't know what the food taste like because I couldn't get served. We started by sitting in the bar area by the stage (10 min). No one even noticed us. Several servers walked by though. So we decided to move to the dining room. Waited in this little foyer area for 5 minutes (awkward) and was told to sit "anywhere". Someone will be right there. After 10 minutes the family said "we're out of here" and walked out. In all we were there 20-25 minutes and didn't get a simple HELLO. This time, the chicken was dry, the steak was undercooked (not what I had ordered), and the shrimp was pale, grey, and flavorless. The service was horrible, we waited an hour for what I would call crappy food. They charged us $2.00 for each soda we drank, no free refills. We tried going there for lunch on 2 different occasions only to find the place closed both times. The sign outside says they open at 2 pm and the website says they open at 3 pm so I called to see why they were closed and I was told they don't get enough people for the lunch crowd so they aren't serving lunch anymore. If that's the case fine but then update your website and sign outside with the new hours. We tried going there one more time for dinner on a Saturday and even called before we left to make sure they were open, when we got there we noticed the sign outside now said bar open at 4 pm dinner at 5 pm. and as we are sitting at a table waiting the be served the bartender came over and asked if we were there for dinner, we said yes and she told us that the cook wasn't there and that she didn't know when he would be there, I don't know how anyone can run a business this way and expect to stay in business.
