Good and strong latte but not worth the $7 price tag... I can get the same thing for much less either at the hospital I work at or the Peasant Pies at Mission Bay. I saw the Rose Latte was $9!!! For that price, I might as well include the novelty of being in one of Jimmy's establishments. Also they used to serve Craftsmen + Wolves (my hubs loves their Rebel Within), but they no longer have them on offer. It looks like Starter Bakery? It's convenient if you happen to be staying in that hotel and they open early, I think I was there at 7am, but if you have time to wander about, I'd try some other joint in the area to save you some moneys. read more

Located in the lobby of the Luma Hotel, this is a quiet little cafe-esque area with lots of natural light from the glass walls. It was empty when I went at 1:30 PM with little tables and chairs to sit and eat, a cute place to get some work done. I got two pastries, which were supplied by Neighbor Bakehouse. They used to get their pastries from Craftsman and Wolves but changed suppliers. I loved the Twice-Baked Pistachio Croissant I got, and the Chocolate Chip Cookie was great too -- a little dry from sitting out all day, but it was the afternoon when I came so that's understandable. I'd probably go to Neighbor Bakehouse directly to get pastries since it's just down the street, but this is a great place to get some of those pastries while also having a quiet, nice indoor place to enjoy them! read more

For starters it was the best gf breakfast burrito I have had in a long time. Although it took a while to get it and they forgot all of the food we ordered. There were 4 of us with each a food and beverage ordered. The drinks were prompt and for the food we waited 15 min before asking. It wasn't ready or being prepped. Unfortunately we had to remind them what we ordered so they could make it. The food and coffee were overall good. If you are in a hurry, I wouldn't recommend popping in. I love the feel of the place, with its comfy seats and peaceful atmosphere. That said, the couple of times i've been here, what i got were not bad, but also nothing to rave about. I've tried their cappuccino and a seasonal drink (tiger coffee?). I've also tried a mochi pastry. I might give this place one more chance, for the atmosphere. read more

The best thing about this little coffee shop is its location for me. I was right in the bottom of the Luma hotel where I stayed, so I didn't have to drink the steamed plastic Keurig. I was able to go downstairs and get a decent cappuccino. They had a couple of gluten-free options in the pastries, and that was nice too. The service was decent for what it is, which is a walk up counter where you basically do all the work and they call you when they've got your stuff ready. The selection was pretty small, so I wouldn't really go out of my way to come here if you're looking for a really good coffee and breakfast options read more

The place is beautiful and classy-looking -- check! The drinks are well-made and use Sightglass coffee -- check! The pastries were fine (though not life-changing) -- semi-check. Some details: I got lobby WiFi for my iPad, but there was only one outlet that I could find in the whole room. (It's in a corner.) If you want to use the restroom, you need a card to convince the elevator to take you up to the third floor. (This was not an issue for me because I was a hotel guest. I imagine that cafe patrons who need the loo can get a temporary card from the baristas?) There are robots roaming around, and they're cute. If you're in a hotel room, you can order robot delivery to your room. Apparently, a robot will take the elevator and text you that she's arrived at your door. When your door is open, the robot will sense that and roll in to deliver your lukewarm latte to the room. Prices here were 30-40% higher than at my favorite places a few miles away in the East Bay. read more

Nice and clean cafe that serves Craftsman and Wolves pastries. I think I would only go back for the pastries because their hot chocolate was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. The coffee was very good. The problem is the food. We ordered for breakfast burritos and each of them were cold in the middle. I saw other patrons take back their burritos to be reheated. Further, they were dry and we're not served with any salsa or other sauces. The location was perfect in the Luma hotel. If there were other options for us, we would've taken them. read more

Great little cafe inside the Luma Hotel. I appreciated the gluten free and vegan options for our breakfast. Though a smoothie is listed on their in-room menu it was not listed in the cafe. I asked about it, and the staff went and found ingredients to make a smoothie. They didn't need to be so accommodating and I appreciated their service. This probably isn't a place I would normally go to unless I was staying at the hotel as it is somewhat pricey. The staff made it well worth it. read more

Twyne coffee bar is a hidden gem inside Hotel Luna. It's a chic, spacious area as soon as you enter the lobby. There's a space to study and sit comfortably on the sofa looking outside. They have coffee from sight glass and pastries from craftsman and wolves. I tried the pastries and parfait. The rebel florentin (vegetarian) had healthy ingredients of spinach, garlic, lemon zest, parmesan-asiago, and soft pouched egg. It comes with a salty and spicy topping that you can sprinkle over your pastry. It is very delicious and filling! The parfait was good with a nice crunchy oats and cranberries. I've been to Twyne a couple times in the morning to do some work. Twyne is a beautiful coffee shop in the first floor of Luma Hotel. It's a great place to work, its usually not too loud and there are a lot of seats and outlets. I'm honestly not a fan of their drinks though, they are pretty overpriced and not even that good. Their holiday special peppermint latte was $10, and not that flavorful (I prefer the peppermint drink at Starbucks). The Matcha Latte was pretty watery and didn't have a strong matcha flavor ($6.50). Their Americano was ok, I could make better coffee at home. It sounds like their food is pretty good though from reading the reviews. I'll definetely be back because I do love working here though! read more

Brand spanking new, friendly staff, and TONS of space to sit and work! Pastries from Craftsman and Wolves, as well as Sight Glass coffee. My jalapeno cheddar popper was spicy, super soft, and very tasty. My oat milk latte, unfortunately, tasted a bit weak and watery, but they're brand new and still figuring things out, and I normally love Sight Glass. I hope they'll get the ratios down soon, because if they do, I will be there often! read more

Convenient and tastefully modern hotel cafe that opened in the last year. I finally had an opportunity to stop in yesterday and enjoyed a little reading time here in the afternoon. The barista was very friendly and accommodating. There was originally nothing in the baked goods display case but I saw a box in the back and asked him to go over what they had in store for the day. The oat milk matcha latte I ordered came out very fast, likely due to low foot traffic during that afternoon lull time. I was a little surprised that the oat milk beverage was close to $7 for about 8-10 ounces in a smaller than average cup. I appreciated the use of real matcha powder that congealed and floated to the top of the oat milk foam as it cooled from piping hot to room temperature. Seems that this latte is more for immediate consumption, unfortunately. I would rate the drink 3/5 stars for the price, size, and consistency. However, I did enjoy the chocolate ginger muffin that I ordered -- It was very fluffy and light, though it did crumble into my book crease a couple of times and smear a few pages. The pastry I'd rank as 4/5 just because it was a bit on the pricey side (though the size was fairly average for muffins) I could go on and on about how beautiful the interior decoration is -- it's initially what caught my attention on my walks home from downtown, and the cushy modern chairs and sofas did not disappoint in their level of comfort as well as aesthetic appeal. I would rate the ambiance with the afternoon light flooding into the window seating corner as 7/5 stars! I think I'll be back in to moreso enjoy the ambiance and sip on something rather than for the food and beverages, but I do hope they improve their matcha latte recipe! read more

I live in the neighborhood and decided to try TWYNE. Waited a minute and nobody acknowledged me. I finally asked if they were open. They took my order for a cold brew and then told me it was in the back. I told them I'd wait. They brought out a keg of cold brew and then all five of the "baristas" couldn't figure out how to connect the keg. It was hysterical. I never got my cold brew, but I got a comedy show. Sightglass, train your employees at TYWNE, they have no idea what they are doing. read more

Definitely seem to be a few things to iron out since it's new (they were out of matcha at only ~11am and my oat milk latte was not the best) so the best thing right now is probably the ambience - it's so spacious (take your pick of comfy couch or practical tables) with the highest ceilings, and abundantly bright due to the window walls. It's also quiet and peaceful, almost like a library (but since the tables are spaced far enough apart, coffee chats are still feasible). Also, the bathrooms on the hotel's third floor are extremely nice! read more

What a great new spot that just opened up! Super nice, new, spacious spot for the coffee spot with high ceilings and a really nice light decoration. Steps away from our favorite grocery store Gus, running trail, and park. Also very dog friendly as my dog met some great friends there. Coffee from sightglass was great as always and their pastrami croissant from craftsman & wolves was delicious. It's a new cute spot that opened in my neighborhood and I really wanted to love it. However, the drinks were quite disappointing. Gave the benefit of doubt and went a second time, and the drinks were still not up to par. The espresso tasted burnt and the steamed milk was either too rough or thin. Chai tasted watered down. My coffee I pull from my home espresso machine tastes better. Never went back for a third time yet, but I really hope that they'll hire well trained baristas or train their existing baristas. Do not recommend coffee or muffins here. Coffee tasted so bland and would never drink one again. I stayed at the hotel the coffee shop is located in. I had a $30 credit that I can use towards the shop. What a waste. My latte tasted so "watered down" and my wife's ice strawberry matcha latte had no flavor. Then the manager (who I'm assuming) was so rude to employees and acted like we were bothering. Not friendly at all. The location is nice and clean but don't recommend this place. read more

Love this coffee bar at the new Luma hotel in Mission Bay. Drinks are delicious, smooth lattes, interesting and tasty baked goods, friendly service, great manager who is fun to talk to. So happy to see another coffee bar in the neighborhood. The space is gorgeous. Very open and bright, tons of natural light with floor to ceiling windows on the corner, with a really cool light installation hanging from the 3 story high ceiling. Lots of places to sit. i understand that this type of establishment will be really busy on a sunday morning but they seem really disorganized and i will say the staff was overwhelmed but also surly. i ordered two lattes and breakfast sandwiches. the cheese from my sandwich was mostly on the wrapper. But even worse when i bit into it there was a paper in the middle of the sandwich. i left my room, went back down. I asked for a muffin as a replacement - the one with the egg in the middle. The egg was stone cold - despite being heated and the batter around it was not cooked. Two stars are for the coffee, which is good, and the fact that the hotel refunded us for the purchase. read more
