Worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Us: a table of 4 women showed up on a Friday at 8:45pm. Ordered 1 appetizer and 4 meals (2 sushi) Restaurant was about a quarter full. We waited 40 minutes for our lettuce wraps to show up (the chicken was cold but we were so hungry we ate it anyway) and then another 25 minutes before we asked very nicely when our main course would show up. We noticed she was the only waitress (with a ton of bussing staff) so obviously we get it isn't her fault that they are under staffed for a Friday night. Magically 3 people's meals show up freezing. Our plates weren't even warm. We ask why they are so cold and were told that they were waiting for the sushi to be ready (and that still hadn't arrived). Why not ask us if we want our hot food to be served so that it doesn't get cold? The 4th person's sushi came out another 20 minutes later. People around us have food that has steam rising from their plates and sizzling... why is our food so cold!?!?! And they kept letting more people into the restaurant. If you aren't able to properly serve people hot food because you are under staffed then stop letting more people in. And yes we spoke to the manager and told her all of this but instead of comping our cold food she just yelled at the waitress and expected us to pay the whole tab! I've never had something like this happen. Normally, if something goes wrong in the kitchen or with the wait staff usually the manager would comp at least part of the bill and/or offer a desert. 2 stars for services. Came here for my sister birthday and I was not impress with mine and my husband dish at all. I ordered the sizzling thai chili steak and I needed it to be cooked well done, only for it to come out medium rare. The outside of the steak tasted burnt but the inside was not fully cooked. My husband got the seafood and tofu clay pot and was very disappointed. It has no flavor what so ever. I tried the lobster and i can tell that it was not fully cooked and it has a very fishy taste to it. Bleh!!! And that costed $30?!?! Get outta here!!! The fact that it costed that much and was tasteless?!?!??! Tsk tsk tsk.. Well I think they rushed the order since they were closing in 30 minutes. We definitely won't be coming back. read more

I liked their menu options since it has lots of variety, and were willing to accommodate my taste and make substitutions. I had the sushi lunch to go (so didn't really have to worry about the service), and I really enjoyed the seaweed salad and soup that came with it (better than Samarai down the street). The tuna nigiri was also really good, though I dropped a star on the review because the seaweed for the maki rolls were way too dry that it was difficult to eat. The seaweed wrap on the cone was dry to the point that I couldn't bit into it well...Great for a quick affordable sushi lunch (about same price as what you'd get in supermarket with mroe stuff and more fresh). read more

The menu looked promising, but the actual preparations never delivered. Our soup, seafood in creamy broth ($11), consisted of a weak broth with tiny shrimp and a few strands of imitation crab meat; it was thickened with copious cornstarch. The Kimchi Steak ($25) was palatable but underseasoned. The worst part was the badly preserved Kimchi, which, to our horror, tasted spoiled! The only save for the evening was the crispy curry duck. The duck was moist and the curry was very flavorful, and at $19, a reasonable deal. Overall, a huge disappointment. I hope our experience represented an off night! read more

Popped in here today for take out after a co-worker recommended it to me. I was a little on the later side for lunch so the place was pretty quiet when I rolled up to grab my order. However, the inside looked great and I'll probably sit down next time to really scope the place out. I ordered the spicy typhoon chicken and was on edge for something that costs $12. But I was very happy with my order. The chicken was great! There wasn't any gristle, fat or funky stuff that tends to be a common sight with cheap chinese food. And my dish was spicy! There have been so many times I've gone out and ordered a dish that was supposed to be spicy and it just seems to fall short. I'll definitely be back here again! read more

I went to Typhoon on Friday night because my sister bought a BuyWithMe for half off. Judging by how packed the place was I would have expected the sushi to be out of this world. Well, the sushi wasn't out of this world by any means, but it was certainly better than the service. Again, this place was jammed and perhaps they were understaffed, but the service was pretty bad. I like Typhoon for my quick weekday Chinese food or sushi fix. Because I live super close, I make it to Typhoon from time to time. Their sushi is pretty good, albeit a bit pricey. And I like their Kung Pao chicken. They have a lot of options and are very accommodating, including when my friend and her sleeping child were in with their huge stroller. Good Singapore noodles, open air seating in spring/summer, and fresh tuna give it a solid 3 stars. Not super exciting cuisine and higher prices make it a spot I don't recommend to many people. read more

This restaurant is conveniently located near the Boston Public Library. Saw it on Groupon and decided to give it a try (without checking it out on Yelp first). They claim the dinner is 3 course but 1) it is 1 appetizer + 2 entrees + 1 dessert for two people. 2) portion is like lunch size 3) the selection is very limited and half of the entries are either noodles or rice dishes. I had the curry shrimp which was a little undercooked with overcooked veggies; My husband had the lemon grass chicken. That dish was more like a grilled chicken salad w lettuce and some chicken pieces still had skin and fat. What was edible was not enough to be a dinner entree. When we got the check we noticed that tip had been already charged into the bill at 18%. Wait staff were nice but the food was mediocre and the experience disappointing. I'm a vegan, and this place is amazing for us vegan folks. Just ask for the vegetarian/vegan menu! I had the Brown Dynamite roll which was a brown rice sushi roll with avocado, bell pepper and cucumber topped with spicy veganaise. It was amazing! My boyfriend had the Kung Pow Tofu and he really enjoyed it. FYI: They also have a gluten free menu! The scorpion bowl was super tasty as well and great for two people. The only downside is that it was really hot and humid out, and they didn't have air conditioning on the inside. I'm not sure if it was broken or if they don't have it at all. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was not as busy as I thought it would be. We looked around aimlessly for a host when someone finally showed up to seat us. There were only 2 waiters working and only a few tables were occupied with parties less than 4. We waited 25 minutes for canned Sapporo...and even longer for a mixed drink because there was no clear bartender, just the waiters messing around behind the bar. They were very inattentive and all over the place. Sushi was mediocre, I've had better elsewhere. Nothing really special here. Would not come back here nor recommend this place to anyone. WOW! WHAT A SUSHI BAR EXPERIENCE! This is our second time at Typhoon. The first time we sat at a table and had a 5-star experience. The second time we decided to sit at the sushi bar. Both times we ordered the mighty Black Pearl boat. Service is friendly and prompt. Prices are very reasonable. Food quality is second to none. Atmosphere is upscale, classy, and authentic. But I must say, sitting at the sushi bar was way better than sitting at a table. You get to see everything close up, and the meticulous detail that goes in to how your sushi is made. Drinks (get the japanese beers or hot sake), miso soup, an amazing appetizer which had raw salmon strips hung over a piece of asparagus which is all roasted by a liqueur fire underneath, the famous Black Pearl, topped off with a fruit flambe dessert. Oh and if you haven't noticed, these guy love FIRE. So make sure to order something that is set on fire lol. BEST SUSHI IN BOSTON. Easily got a window table with nice street view. Great Thai food and sushi overall. Had Seafood lemongrass soup, Spicy Tuna Maki, Filet Mignon Thai Steak and Salmon. Creme Brûlée Cheesecake. All very good! The only minor knocks: Food service is a bit slow (but server was very friendly and attentive.) And the food was saltier than I would prefer but that's a taste. Typhoon is my favorite place for sushi tried so far in Boston after living here for five years. I've been many times and always enjoy the rolls and the freshness of the fish.
