I went to this U-fix-store on Garland Road because my dryer wasn't heating. I had checked all the thermostat and the heater coil and it was all checking out good except for one cycling thermostat that I was questioning. After talking with Chris the guy behind the counter, he said that it's is rare the this part would be bad. He suggested checking the breaker, he said that half of the 220v circuit runs the motor the second half runs the heater. Since it was running I never considered the breaker. Well sure enough it was the breaker half tripped and the dryer is working great now! I thinking with all the power outages we had recently it probably triggered the breaker when it came back on Many Thanks to Chris for helping me, and saving me from buying a new dryer ! read more

When I went to check out in the Garland store, the manager refused to complete the sale unless I provided my phone number and home address. I explained that I typically do not provide personally identifiable information in store. Manager would not say why this information was needed but agreed to call the owner. Owner refused to speak with me and instructed the manager to process my credit card only if I agreed to waive the warranty. Great guys! My GE dishwasher started leaking and it was the water inlet valve. Got it off the dishwasher but could not find my model or serial number much less a part number on the valve. Ran it up to U-Fix-it and he found what I needed and ordered it. They called the next morning to let me know it was there. I had a great experience with this store. My dryer went out Saturday morning and it ended up being the idle pulley. I looked online and sure I could've ordered it on Amazon and had it within a few days but like the last time I had a home repair, I could have ended up with the wrong part and that would have delayed my repair altogether. So with this time I called these folks and asked them if they had the part I was looking for. The gentleman informed me that they did and told me if I was interested in it he would set it aside for me and have it ready for me when I got there. I told him that I would be in in about 30 to 40 minutes and if he would set it aside for me I would appreciate it. When I got there and told him my name he had it ready for me and pull the bag out from underneath the counter that had my part in it. He asked me if I had brought my old part so that the two of us could look at it just to make sure that he had pulled the right part. He absolutely had and so I paid and went my way. I put the part on and now my dryer runs quieter that it did even brand new. I was suspicious of that even though I considered it a good thing and found out after some research that the part that they carried and sold me was even better than the OEM part, because of an improved wheel bearing. read more

I was about to order a new refrigerator fan motor online over the weekend so the part would be here by Monday. Decided to wait and call U-Fix-It and price check... would always rather support a local business... told them I wasn't sure if it was the fan motor or the condenser controller (I'm not a repairman from Sears). They said they could test the motor for me for free so I went down and the motor worked. Turned out to be the controller. $34 later and about 15 minutes of putting the fridge back together... and it was back up and running. Yes, the part would have been cheaper online and the kid at the counter wasn't a sales dynamo, but had it not been for that kid at the counter and a local business, I would have been ordering the wrong parts online. Purchase wrong part, could not return because it was special order. What does that mean. My mistake, 90 bucks out the window, then they thought I was going to spend more money with them. Can't recommend this store enough! My washer stopped draining and after looking up info online and taking my washer apart I thought it was the water pump. I called and spoke to Chris on the phone and he said he had the part. Upon arriving at the store I was met with a friendly representative and I told him about my issue. After asking some great qualifying questions he helped me identify it was probably a lid switch that needed to be replaced. I purchased the piece and upon arriving home and inspecting the piece sure enough that was the problem. I can't recommend Chris and this store enough. Can not recommend this store enough to anyone.The oven part of our gas stove broke.We have had this happen before.But always have had a repair guy come to fix it.The last time my husband watched the repair guy fix it,and said if that part goes out again I think I can fix it myself.So this time when it broke again,husband took the part off and took it to Chris.He had to order the part ,after he checked it out to make sure that what was wrong.Went back the next day to get part.Told us that if we had any trouble putting it back on to give him a call.We are not sure how much we saved by getting the part and putting it on our self.we are thinking about $150.00 .Great place!!!!!! read more
