I rented a cargo van for 12 hours and went from a senior apt to storage for some small boxed items with a 74 yr old and a 62 year old driving. And was charged with a scratch on the hood. Paid an extra 90 dollars for the scratch. IlAnd with a fixed income, I dont recommend using them. I regret it very much. read more

1.30.24: Called earlier in the week to schedule my u-haul rental at this location. They were helpful, communicative, and prompt during the entire scheduling process. I had also ordered a car dolly as well, however, there wasn't one available for the requested pickup date. Customer service was awesome and offered a full size auto trailer for the price of the car dolly that wasn't available. But the only catch was, I had to pick up the trailer at a different U-Haul location. I didn't mind since I needed the trailer and it was really appreciative and helped to save a lot of money. Also I wasn't aware you could rent moving blankets as opposed to buying them and that saved me a ton of money as well. With how busy it was, the employees handled it great and quickly worked through each customer's rental. read more

Easy to make a reservation on the Uhaul App. Did it the night before we needed it, was checked in in 5 minutes, return was smooth, just dropped the keys off! I've moved many many times and this was the least amount of effort I've expended getting and returning the truck. The only thing was I got a text telling me to take pics of the truck before I leave the premises, but didn't look at the text till I got home and it had expired. I cannot say enough bad things about this uhaul. This is easily the WORST UHUAL IN TOWN (maybe even the world). Every single experience I've had here has been incredibly horrible and the customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Let me tell you about my most recent visit (which is very similar to all the other visits I have had) I scheduled a uhaul ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE for my business. I specifically chose the uhaul on rock blvd so I could stay away from the oddie location. The day before I was set to pick up my uhaul, I got a message saying they were having trouble covering it. So I called and the person on the phone was very nice. She fixed the problem for me and said they located a truck for me but it would be at oddie instead (great). She also told me the first 30 miles would be free, and gave me an extra free day for the trouble that I was put through. That was pretty cool. She asked what time I could pick up, I told her we were pretty busy but sometime after 12pm. She said that's fine, any time after 12 is fine. Awesome! We show up at about 1:45pm, wait in the longest line ever (typical of this uhaul, be ready to spend a ton of time waiting) and I'm not kidding you. They gave it away AGAIN!!! the cashier at the front LYDIA was so rude I couldn't believe it. First thing she says "well we gave it away because you're late" and when I tried to tell her the person on the phone said any time after noon was fine she interrupted and said "YEAH BUT YOURE LATE" and then proceeded to tell us the people on the phone just say things that aren't true. That sounds CRAZY but if it's true then uhaul really needs to fix that too. Lydia then proceeds to take a personal phone call in front of us, begins talking about lunch to whoever is on the other end while we are still just waiting there to see if we get a uhaul. What the heck??? So bizarre and unprofessional. After hanging up and then lecturing us for another 10 Minutes, FINALLY out of the "goodness of her heart" Lydia miraculously "FINDS" a uhaul (aka the one we already had that was there for us but she just had to lecture us so pretended was gone) she lets us get our uhaul. She tells me that the first 30 miles are actually not free, and told me I didnt have an extra free day after all. We then leave in a sticky smelly uhaul that smelled like cigarettes. Don't use these guys at all. Terrible experience. We apparently talked to someone on the phone at U-Haul who told my wife that this was the "Rock Boulevard" location. So on the morning to pick up our rental truck, we went to the "U-Haul" on Rock Boulevard, and I picked up the truck, who claimed they had to go to their office on "Oddie" to pick it up because it was not their "main office", and then had a truck over almost immediately, and said to bring it back to that location. Okay, seems fair enough. Meanwhile, whoever was on the phone told the wife that we needed to bring it back to ODDIE. So After 4 hours of moving into our new home in Reno, we brought it back to the location that we thought it should have gone to per the information given at BOTH locations. When we arrived, some methhead git with a hat started reaming me out over "parking that truck here" despite being told to take it back to Oddie by the moron on the phone. So somehow it's my fault that U-Haul can't get their shit together!?!? So I started trying to relate the situation and this dickhead, probably used to the same kind of low grade plankton I've been dealing with in Sparks since the Pandemic started,. We went inside and the minute I opened my mouth that "Karen" of a manager said "YOu're giving me attitude sir and I don't like that". Yeah, nice customer service - NOT. And then we had some other guy talking about BUYING the damn truck?!?!? Then they went on to tell me the place I rented from was not "official". HOW!?!? So U-Haul just lets anyone start up a U-Haul location willy-nilly!?!? Jeezuz, maybe I should buy some used U-Hauls and start a self-moving service of my own and call it "Sparks U-Haul". I'd make a killing after this learning experience. That's why this place gets a bad review. If they just told us to take the truck back where it came from at the onset - on the phone, and in person, and not given ME attitude over it from the onset, I would have been fine. Seriously, just stay away from U-Haul - use Enterprise instead. and if you MUST use U-Haul, go to the place on Rock, they are at least nicer to deal with by a long shot. read more

We purchased a $80 dolly, they brought it out and put it in the truck. We drove to Tahoe and removed the dolly to use and found the wheel was bent and immediately called them. Rented a truck from this location and obviously had the payment on hold until the vehicle was returned. Upon returning, I incurred a few minor charges, which I had expected. Upon checking my account this morning, not only was I fully charged for what I used and the rental, but also have a second charge still pending on my account for the initial price I was quoted. This has now put me in the negative in my account also putting me in a position to be over drafted daily until resolved. This to me is unacceptable business practices and I feel it should have never happened or when I called to fix said problem been resolved in a timely manner, not making me wait days and getting my account further in the hole for me to have to then go back and fix that problem as well. This is actually the worst U-Haul in America. I find myself using U-Haul for work at least 3-4 times a year. For whatever reason I've come to this U-Haul, not because they were any good, or convenient, really just out of silly habit. These guys are so good at providing inconsistent clunky, off putting customer service they deserve any award. Surely, someone would accidentally provide me somewhat okay service eventually... but no, every single experience has proved troublesome. If you need a receipt, don't dare leave without first requesting one because you will NEVER get a receipt after the fact. I think it would actually be easier to cross into North Korea wearing an American flag tuxedo than it would be obtaining a receipt two days after your purchase. Some of the people there are terrible and have very bad attitudes, I will never rent from them again their loss. The main girl at the Oddie location is the worst person there she has no people skills and can't stand answering any of your questions without snarling at you and she has a real chip on her shoulders. Customer service promised me two free days for a huge mishap on their end and I never got them. They tell you one thing and they always have an excuse on why it is never their fault. I have confirmed reservation for a 26 ft truck for today (28th) made back on July 14th. Arrived on at 7:00 am and while I'm line they rented my 26 ft truck to someone else. Then tried to say I didn't have a reservation, when I sat the desk I looked at the screen and saw my name there and they said I did, butt no truck had been assigned to it. Then told me to drive 30 minutes across the city to pick up one that I have to have back in less than 24 hours because it's scheduled elsewhere at 7 tomorrow. We reserved an auto transport 2 weeks ago. When we show up today the line was all the way to the back of the store. The staff moved s-l-o-w-l-y and we waited for approximately 45 minutes. We finely reach the front and confirm they have our reservation to be told they do not have an auto transport...no solution to this problem which for us, starting on a coast to coast relocation is a big problem. Miss Pamela was awesome picking up the uhaul and recommend I take a video of the vehicle before I leave, so I did. Upon return I was told by Diego there was a dent in the door I couldn't even see it even after he showed me and he tried to charge me a $150 deductible. I showed him the video and it was there but he said he couldn't see it and we went inside where he said he could see it and waived the deductible but by then had caused me stress. I scheduled/held my truck roughly a week before our move (online), and when I arrived at 8am on a Saturday morning, the line was nearly out the front door and 2 people were working this location (the busiest in Reno). After waiting in line for nearly an hour, they told me they didn't have my truck and I had to go to the other uHaul on Virginia to pick it up. They said I should have received a text or EMail. I didn't. I remember the lady constantly stating "I don't know why it's so busy" on the first Saturday of the month. I would give a zero if I could. I reserved a 12' enclosed trailer on September 14. Reservation number 25768657. On my way to pick up the trailer this morning I dropped my wife at the airport and Kids at school which I need to pick up at noon for our trip. Upon arrival I am told they don't have a trailer and that I was texted yesterday. I showed the clerk there was not a text yesterday. My only option is to drive 50 miles away in Gardnerville. I'm in Reno/sparks. I can't make it there and pickup my kids and load up. Why bother making a reservation? I was told by the clerk that he can't help me any longer and it's "out of his hands. Reserve a trailer WITH credit card deposit, drive 1300 miles, get a call that that did not matter, no trailer available here, the nearest trailer is 100 miles away (one way) a day later (when we'd already be gone) via 2 lane highway. Customer service rep at Oddie just kept rudely repeating the same information. Zero customer service skill or care. Amazingly, after cancelling, calling 1800#, making new res, a trailer was available at another location, IN TOWN. Franchise issues? Oddie didn't want to lose commission, so no one could have it? This place is very unprofessional. This place does not honor your reservation. I made a reservation to pick up a uhaul at this location 10 days ago. The day before less than 24 hours. I call this location to confirm and then they tell me I have to drive to another city over an hour away to pick up the uhaul when my reservation clearly says that the pick should be here at this location. This is ludicrous how they are allowed to treat their customers like this. This is a huge inconvenience and will need to spend even more money and waste more miles which I will be charged for. I wish I could give ZERO stars. We went to the Oddie location at the end of February to reserve a 5x8 cargo trailer for our move at the end of May. Two weeks before out scheduled date for pick up, we receive a txt that the Oddie location canceled our reservation. I called to see what is going on with our trailer and the lady who answered hung up on me after I asked what's going on with my trailer. I called back again and she told me she is to busy to deal with me right now and hung up on me again. I then called corporate and they informed us that all uhuals in the Nevada area are canceling reservations going past Utah! We are moving from Reno to Texas so that doesn't help us. We now have to get rid of our entire apartment in 2 weeks thanks to uhual canceling our reservation last minute. To say I'm pissed is an understatement. read more

I had an apt. With U-Haul on Oddie Blvd. for the 29th of June for a hitch install with wiring. That failed, and I got there at opening as instructed by reservations. I left very ANGRY as I had tow a trailer with no lights. I got a call from Miguel the store Mgr. and he offered to do the job and reschedule the appt. for a later date if I agreed to keep my business there, and do it at a discounted price. I reluctantly agreed to this. I showed up this morning at the scheduled time of 0800. After 50 minutes the installer told me he couldn't find the hitch which had been ordered for this morning's install. He looked twice, and told me that he did not have the hitch and it did not get shipped to the store. They had exactly 28 days to get it to the store which didn't happen. So, for the second time I left the store extremely agitated! I called the vice President of operations for Northern Nevada and got no return phone call. This is why I no longer do business with Uhaul and encourage people to find other carriers for their business for moving etc. I got screwed twice without the courtesy of a reach around. Sadly, I brought back my U-haul Sunday with some items left in it including 2 new coffee travel mugs, 1 nice new metal water canteen and a new Patagonia sweater. I called Tuesday and the truck was still there. The lady I called "checked" the truck and said there was nothing there where I left it in the cab of the truck. She said the guy that had checked it found nothing and nothing was noted. If anything was found it was thrown away anyways.
