Came home ran some errands...made time around noon to load my car to take to shop to fix ... my car didn't fit and I tore my front bumper off.... took back car dolly asked if they had different model since I used other model last time and my civic hatchback fit! They didn't have other model ...but I still got charged the 58$ dollars for rental ...I explained to the guy that help me why do I have to pay for rental when I couldn't even tow my car with it and you guys told me it would work for my car ? When I arrived to u haul for my scheduled install. I received no explanation, just hmmm we do not have it. No apology no phone call to let me know of a need to reschedule and no email. This is horrible service. This employee only made it worse. Let me first say during the pandemic many good employees have lost their jobs and are having trouble finding employment. People who have a job should be grateful. This guy is a poor example of someone who should be representing any compony. When asked why I did not get notified it was met with no response. Just letting you know what kind of people the U-Haul on Leffingwell has working for them. As I went I yesterday for propane, I walked up to one of the workers that was standing near the tanks talking with someone in a truck that was unloading. Before I could even put my tank down, he said that they were out of propane. Under the circumstances I didn't give it another thought. And to add, it was sprinkling. So I get it. So today I called ahead to see if they had received a refill, the woman on the phone told Me they had 900 pounds in the tank right now. So I went back to day to refill. There was another man working the tank m, so I asked him if they had refilled there simply and said that they had never been out. They had plenty. So after I got my tanks filled , I went inside to pay, where the lazy person from yesterday was sitting. I pointed him out to the man that he is the one who said the tanks were empty. And all he did was mKe a loud laughing noise. You can tell a lot about a person's character and work ethic or lack-there-of. I just thought U-Haul should know lack of effort their employees are giving customers when no one is looking. read more

Unfortunately I received bad service here. I went in to get wires connected to my SUV. $40 total, mostly for labor. I had asked to have the wires checked for proper function, one service man showed me how the lights worked on the wires but did not bother to hook up a trailer to make sure of its proper function. The day I needed to rent a trailer, I wasted 3 hours going to 3 different places getting the wires diagnosed and fixed since the brake lights wouldn't show. It turned out that two of the wires were not connected correctly. I got the run around when trying to contact this U-Haul center. I finally found someone to take a message for Sam who 1 week later still hasn't returned a call. The people are nice here, however they do not double check their work and that cost me time and money. read more

Slow hopefully thorough, arrived early for my hitch installation appointment and they started early assuring me it would be less than a hour. So we called for a ride and went to lunch. An hour later or more we returned and truck was still on the rack. After about 3 hours from arrival it was finished. The better side of the story is the staff is very nice and apologized for the delay. The installer assured me he wanted to do a good job and at the end of the day that was the critical thing to me as well. We had a great experience getting our hitch installed here. Their prices were reasonable compared to other places we called. We had an appointment at 3 pm, but we wanted to come earlier. When we called in morning, they accommodated and let us come in at 1 pm. They installed the hitch in about an hour (we walked over to a nearby restaurant in the meanwhile). This has always been a great location and the staff has always been great. This time was very different. The jerk that checked me in was so rude and acted like helping me was a pain in the butt for him. He never made eye contact, barely spoke to me, moved as slow as a sloth and seemed very annoyed. He was same one that checked me back in when I returned the truck. Again, he was rude, annoyed and a complete jerk. Meanwhile, the blue bed guy that's been there forever came over and interrupted me getting checked in to tell this rude guy that the regional manager is mad because someone got overcharged for propane. Service is awful and they take forever to answer the phone. When they do they put you on hold forever too. When you in person there is no one there but each transaction apparently takes forever. Just had a horrible experience with the General Manager Mathew Bertrand at this location. He is the arrogant and rude person in the photos wearing the dark sunglasses. First off, I rented a cargo van for one week(7 days with 750 miles included for $360 plus tax). He charged me the full amount but on the paperwork wrote that I needed to return it on the third day. When I got in the drivers seat, I noticed that the door jumped a bit when I closed the door. As the week passed, the door hinge actually started shifting and the door was clearly loose on the hinges. When I returned the van, I told the guy who checked the van back in about the door. I also returned the van with a full tank instead of 3/4 tank that was required giving them $25 in free fuel. As I told the general manager Matthew Bertrand that the door was loose, he repeatedly stated that,"The van did not leave here that way" and accused me of somehow and for reasons which make no sense messing up the door. I admit that I went off on this moron because I do not like arrogant people who do not know me from Adam accusing me of something that I did not do. This guy is a rude, cocky, jerk and I filed a formal complaint with the corporate office. When I told him off, he then said," Keep on talking because I haven't finished checking the van back in yet", as though he was threatening me with additional fees. I can't tell you to avoid this place any more strongly. Go to another U Haul where the employees don't treat customers as criminals. Furthermore, This location used to be good and I have used them in the past for about 15 years but this GM is just a rude person who should not be dealing with the public. This is probably the best U-haul around my house, and there are plenty. I visited them a couple of weeks ago to see if they can install a brake controller in my new truck. Bernie was super helpful, he researched the type of work required to install a new brake controller and he gave me a couple of options. So I went ahead and scheduled a time for him to install the brake controller. The day of the appointment, I showed up and they were waiting for me, took me in, and did an outstanding work installing the break controller. Throughout the process Bernie kept me informed and asked me where to install the controller. The work was completed within the time I was told, and it was done very well. They even helped me to readjust the height of my hitch and did it to the manufacturer's specifications. Bernie is very knowledgeable, professional and his customer service is second to none. I highly recommend them for any any hitch and brake controller installations. read more

My unit is "upstairs", which is literally up like seven steps. So don't worry about getting an upstairs unit!! Plus they have free carts to use to push your stuff. No elevator for "upstairs" but again, it's a very short set of stairs. I like the unit! read more

This place is a rip off. We rented a truck and dropped it off at night. Prior from us going there we went to the gas station to make sure we filled it the way we got it. I get a email saying I was charged $30 for not having the gas full. I called to ask abut this when the guy answered he mistakenly thought I was someone else who actually was complaining about the same thing. I told him this is my first time calling. He assured me the guys checked and it was not full. I told him that i went to the gas station to fill up before I dropped off and I had my receipt for the gas. He said sorry we can't do anything about it. I was very upset he said well we could give you half your money back. Do not rent from here. Worst service and trucks are not clean. We found trash in between the seats and it smelled. read more

I have been coming to this U-Haul for years. The recent customer service from the same individual has been terrible. I had an appointment for a trailer hitch to be installed two weeks prior. I showed up the day of my appointment and I was told the part was not in. No communication, no apology for the inconvenience of having to show up because my appointment was not going to happen. I was told I would receive a phone call when the part was in. Two days after my original appointment I called to check up on the status and the same employee responded with severe attitude and told me he will call when the part is in. He did not take a second to check on the status and quickly dismissed my concerns regarding my upcoming trip and needing the hitch installed. I let a week go by only for me to randomly call again as my trip is in a few days. I was rerouted to a call center for U-Haul where the nice lady told me I had an appointment scheduled that was to happen two hours after the call I placed. Unbeknownst to me they had scheduled my appointment. If I did not call I would have missed this appointment that I did not know about. The customer service agent messaged this location to call me. Within 10 minutes the same employee from before could not explain why he never called me after two times where he said he would. No apologies and of course blaming it on the shipping issues. At the end of the day they showed the customer needs to take care of themselves and take control of the situation. You cannot rely on this individual to give you the customer service that anyone should receive. Take ownership of dropping the ball and not following through as you stated you would. I was turned away because the manager stated he already closed down and if I wanted to pay cash for any additional fees I would have to come back another day because he has things to do. Seems like corporate communicates and store owner communications differ regarding the process for hitch installs. Was given a date by customer service and called to reschedule and was informed the date had been moved yet I was never informed. So I arrived on the new date only to have the owner tell me he didn't have me scheduled and that THEY were the ones who schedule the appts not the customer service people. He said to wait for a call from him to come in. Meanwhile, I have already paid in full, up front. A month later no call so I call for a refund and customer service says call the shop. Call the shop and they say, oh we have you scheduled for tomorrow. I cancel and request a refund and they say, oh it's not working, you should call the shop. Which I thought I did but because that was the number listed on my invoice but she did she was just reservations. No clue what the heck the problem is but extremely disappointed with uhaul on all fronts and this store for not reaching out in a timely manner while sitting on my $230. read more

The young girl helping me at the time of pickup was not helpful and was dismissive of questions I had. When I realized I needed a utility dolly, she sighed deeply, indicating it was an inconvenience. As a consumer i believe it's incumbent on the provider of goods or services to treat the customer with dignity and respect. U-Haul failed on a grand scale in my experience. I'm the CFO of a company and responsible for all risk management, including Human Resources. If I had an employee treat a customer the way I was treated, I would require a disciplinary action. As a side note, I don't appreciate seeing employees with body piercing. In my opinion it's tacky and a poor reflection of an organization. read more

Where to begin. I got two hitches installed here. One out of necessity, one out of incompetence on their part. Aside from being overpriced the employees there lack any basic knowledge that their job should entail. I was moving across country and I asked them if my little car would be able to carry a trailer. The child helping me (Micheal) was very confident that it could. So, I said okay put it on. Sure enough, about 30 minutes out of LA my car basically craps out because the weight of the trailer is too much. So I had to go back and get a hitch put on my mom's SUV (I couldn't cancel the trip as I am beginning school on the East Coast and a few other minor factors). Anyways, my mom asked Michael if we could get a refund, or at least a partial refund since he had assured us my car would be able to carry the trailer. Sure enough, he says no, all sales are final. So basically if you are ready to get swindled and lied to please visit this Uhaul site, otherwise find a place where the employees are somewhat intelligible, helpful, and compassionate. Again, if you must visit this place, avoid Michael as he truly lacks basic knowledge of just about everything and just stares blankly at the computer screen in front of him. read more

I had 2 things done here. A hitch installed and wired. Then shortly after rented a trailer. The hitch was installed quickly and the wiring work perfectly when the trailer was rented. The manager gave me some good advice when it came time to picking up the trailer and went smoothly. There was a minor issue when it came to processing payment for installation, but it was resolved quickly. Wish I could do more business with these people. Bernie, Vitto and Matthew were all great help thru various stages of renting a truck (for pick-up in Nor Cal) and reserving a storage unit here. Bernie helped with the upgrade on the storage unit over the phone as I was driving south after I realized my cargo was NOT going to fit in the original locker I had booked. Vitto got me all set up with the storage unit when I got into town and was a HUGE help with other issues I had. Matthew got me all set the next day to empty the truck and get into my locker.
