This place is tugged in the busy foodie plaza on Captan Way. It's open and spacious with lots of seats, unless Bigway's space. Iykyk. The place is much like Bigway, you can get a pot and build your own hotpot to cook, or you can do their pre-set happy meal, which is what we did. We both ordered the beef set, with different type of broth. There were 12 different kind of broth to choose from. One of us ordered the original beef bone broth, which was very tasty. I ordered the spicy broth mild, which was what the cashier suggested. Guess what, their spicy broth is on a whole different level compare to other places. The mild level of spicy can be rated extra spicy in other places! It was so spicy that I could barely feel my tongue. I had a pallet for spicy food, but this one was a bit too much. They also forgot my noodles that was suppose to come with the set, and after I showed them, they made some and brought it out in a separate pot with some bone broth. I was very happy to pour all the extra bone broth to my spicy pot to dilute the spiciness? And thankful I listened to the server's recommendation to go for the mild. Over all, this place is very clean and organized. Parking has always been an issue for this plaza, so be prepared for the several loop around. It's not as busy as other individual pot restaurants, but it's a decent one. I'll definitely go back if I'm in the neighborhood. And I will learn my lesson not to order any spicy broth, unless I want my mouth to be on fire again!

Super clean and friendly staff! Food is $19.90/lb with lots of selection to choose from. I like that they have lean beef as an option here! Tried the red sour soup and came back to the tom yum soup as well. The red sour soup was definitely better and I highly recommend!

Came here 2 months ago when they just opened. Very bright, spacious and clean! Seems comparable to other pay by weight places although maybe prices are slightly higher. The tom yum soup was tasty and I had a spicy dry mix that was also good. The green milk tea? was a bit watered down and strange though but maybe they have improved on it now.

    Very tasty!

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Yes come on a date or impress business clients/boss or family celebrations.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

What we ordered: Limited Gigantic snow crab 3lb with salted egg yolk sauce - highly recommended by staff Seafood fried rice Baked large beach oyster with four unique flavors. Highlight was definitely snow crab! Salted egg yolk sauce was great as usual, crab meat was so tender and sweet! I am glad to follow staff's advice. Presentation was good, too. Rice cake was chewy, soft and paired with sauce so well and so addictive. Seafood fried rice was also great! Clam was so juicy and delicious! prawn was nicely firm and very good. Ingredients were outstanding. And Baked beach oyster was also great item. Oyster paired with each unique different flavor(Forgot to ask what kinds of each flavor..), Oyster itself was very large and creamy. Highly recommend this item, too. Overall, our revisit to Fishman was another great experience. Restaurant was packed, No doubt this restaurant is very popular for long time.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

For those that don't know, Chang Fen is a silky and soft steamed rice noodle that's made in a sheet, filled, and then rolled up and served with a savory soy sauce and chili oil. Classic fillings include shrimp, beef, pork, and veggies, but there are many other combinations, and Yin Ji introduced me to my new favorite, pork and olive! We also had to enjoy a "frozen HK milk tea" with it! Frozen here = chilled and it's served in a big bowl of ice so you don't dilute the rich flavor of the tea! As a non Chinese speaker in a rich Chinatown, service and communication can be challenging but that was not the case here at all! The staff was so welcoming, happily spoke English and helped us where necessary and made the visit incredible! It started because we saw signs saying cash only, but had not exchanged USD, and they quickly told us CC was welcome with an added fee, which we happily paid. I'm so glad I found Yin Ji and made the trip to get here during my time in Vancouver. If you're a fan of Chinese cuisine, especially breakfast and lunch staples, this is a must!
