    Açaí bowls - large size
    Kathi Y.

This açaí shop is absolutely AWESOME!!! I found this shop three weeks ago and have been back two to three times a week, every week since!! They have a wide variety of açaí bases - my favorites are traditional açaí, mango and coconut - and they have lots of fresh fruit and offer unlimited toppings. I really like that you can see and sample the all the various options - even the bases. When you start your bowl you have the choice of ratio of açaí to toppings you want in your bowl. From there you can just start stacking it up with all the fresh, delicious goodies. My favorite bowl is half fill açaí, granola, all the fruits (except cranberries), a little honey, some condensed milk and toasted coconut. And don't sleep on their empanadas! They are really good too. Great variety with super flavors. Beef, chicken and vegan available. One of the SUPER PHENOMENAL things here is the people!! The shop is owned by a daughter / father dynamic duo!! The daughter is sweet and charming and makes the best bowls!! The dad has huge personality and will teach you all about açaí and have you trying new options. He's a real kick in a good way. I even met the mom working in the shop one day. She said she doesn't work there often but stepped in to help. She was very friendly also. They are a couple of others that work there that are also very nice, efficient and make great bowls. The shop is cute and clean. Everything is made right in front of you. (You can also order home delivery from Ubatuba.) The shop is freeway close and has a large, easy access parking lot. They do not have indoor dining, but do have a couple of outdoor tables.

Came here for a nice cold treat after a long hot day. The store is pretty clean and tidy, and everything just smells fresh and healthy when you walk in. I ordered a large acai bowl and I like that they really let you customize it to the max, which is perfect for me because I literally want everything in my bowl lol. The fruits tasted fresh and ripe, so that's definitely a plus. My favorite part has to be the almond butter drizzle. It goes so well with the acai and granola and just brings everything together. Overall, a solid spot for a refreshing acai bowl with plenty of toppings and customization. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm craving acai!

One of my all time favorite acai places! Easy free parking, with a spacious lot. There's no indoor dining inside the restaurant but there is some outdoor seating with an umbrella and a couple tables. I usually order the small, which is 12 fl oz for $12.50. The best thing about Ubatuba is that you can add unlimited toppings! They also have unique bases, such as the pitaya. You can also choose chia pudding as your base. Their chia pudding is tinted blue, which is super unique! Some of my favorite toppings are the goji berries (which become cold and super chewy), their bananas and strawberries (which they hand slice in front of you), and their mangos are super fresh too! They are super generous with the portions for toppings. Usually, the store is pretty busy, especially with all the online orders they deal with. However, their service is always fast and efficient. The workers are incredibly friendly and willing to give samples if you ask. Highly recommend.

    Outside seating only.

I woke up craving an açai bowl and somehow that craving led me straight to Ubatuba, bless the universe!!!! I went big with a large bowl loaded with blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, and mango, and I swear I got actual goosebumps watching them slice the strawberries fresh. That's how you know it's about to be good!!!!! Then I went full topping gremlin: shredded coconut, chopped almonds, goji berries, both granolas (because choosing is for the weak), almond butter, honey, and pumpkin seeds. Absolute perfection!!! Every bite was a moment!!!! Shoutout to Daisy, who absolutely understood the assignment and made my bowl with love!! There's no indoor seating, but they've got a few cute little tables outside... perfect for sitting there in silence, deeply in love with your açai!!! Ubatuba is hands down one of my favorite açai spots in the SGV because you control the base-to-topping ratio (as it should be), and their honey?? So good!!! Super floral, slightly magical, and honestly unforgettable. I'm obsessed!!!!

Tried Ubatuba Açaí in Pasadena and ordered two custom medium bowls. Let's just say... both disappeared quickly. The açaí base was smooth, thick, and actually flavorful (not icy or bland like some places). The toppings were fresh and generous every bite had a good balance of crunch, sweetness, and fruit. You could tell the ingredients weren't an afterthought. The shop was clean and welcoming, and the staff was friendly while we took our time building our bowls like it was a serious strategic decision.

This is one of my favorite acai bowl spots! There is currently a Doordash promotion - BOGO Create Your Own Bowl - $17.50! There are 3 size options - small, medium (+$3.75) and large (+$8.75) There is the option to select ratio base toppings on cup - 1/2 or 3/4 base or just base with no toppings. Loved that there are so many base options - pitaya, chia pudding, mango, overnight oats, matcha, agave coconut, and acai! Really enjoyed the variety of toppings! The Acai and matcha base was very delicious and not too sweet. The fruits - strawberry, blueberry, banana, and mango were all very sweet and fresh. The portion for toppings are very generous even though I got a small! Really enjoyed the presentation and how beautiful the Acai bowl was! Overall, this was 9/10 Definitely would recommend and return!

If you like more fruits than just bananas, strawberries, and blueberries then you'll like this place. If you prefer the bases to be actually good and are happy with just 3 fruits you'll like roots & rye a lot more. I unfortunately am the latter and the overnight oats, acai, and chai pudding all tasted odd here. I did like that they have dates, but even their dates were super chewy.

Ubatuba is my go to sweet treat place! You can get different sizes depending on how much you're craving. Kayla and the rest of the crew there are always so knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely try out the Rose Bowl if you want a little tart treat.

The most delicious, unlimited topping açaí bowl !!!!!!! Ok, so the great thing is you can make create your own bowl with unlimited toppings! It's delicious. Refreshing treat especially when it's hot. The best customer service with Dillon & Casie. The owner is also super friendly! I wish there was a place to sit. I'm always having to take it home. I don't like sitting outside because it's too loud BUT luckily the bowls travel well. They also have empanadas too and smoothies and other things BUT my fav is the bowls! Ps. They have other locations so check out their site.

My friend recommended the açaí bowl here, so my husband and I decided to share a small one with a base of açaí and chia seed pudding. The açaí was a bit too frozen, more like an Icee texture, which wasn't my favorite. However, I did appreciate the option of peaches as a fruit topping, something I haven't seen offered at most other açaí spots. I always love adding peanut butter and almond butter, so those were a win, and the worker's suggestion to top it off with PB crumble was spot on, super tasty! Overall, it made for a refreshing and satisfying snack. They also have a designated parking lot in the back, just make sure to read the signs carefully.

    Rose C.

I am a regular in this place. My fav açaí place in Pasadena. Lots of toppings as well as fruits choices. I love it here because fruits are always fresh cut. They also serve the best empanadas with different flavor. The place is clean and very friendly atmosphere. Shout out to Dylan and Alexis. They are the best! Parking is very accessible at the back of the building. Must visit and try their mouth watering Açaí.

    Açaí Bowl

Highly recommend this place! From the moment we walked in the owner was very helpful and let sample a few flavors. And the place itself is super cute filled with bright colors. Now for the bowl, super delicious and not too sweet like other açaí places I've tried.

You can see that they cook the steaks on a grill, perhaps with wood chips, because it has that woody flavor when you bite into your steak. Overall, they've prepared the steak well, so it's not too well done and cooked to perfection at medium-rare. I'm kind of at a crossroads with the skirt steak for the price. I would expect better quality meat, but I can't complain overall about the taste of the skirt steak. I would have expected it to be better prepared and tenderized; it still had a bit of chewiness. I think you have to be an expert in how to prepare skirt steak so that it's not so tough. The ribeye was thick and juicy, so I can't complain about it, with a nice, warm, woody taste. I know it seems a bit weird coming to a steakhouse to try some of the fish, but I can't complain too much about the fish. It was coated in some sauce that made it delicious with a mix of vegetables to balance out the meal. The grilled octopus was prepared to perfection, as it remained juicy and not too tough, with a great taste in how they grilled it.

I took my mom for a nice lunch, and despite having a 3:30 reservation, the restaurant was surprisingly busy. No big deal, though--we were seated around 3:37 in a cozy booth with nice, dim lighting. I'll admit, my expectations were pretty high because I've heard so many great things about this place. So far, everything was off to a good start. The service was friendly, and every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and welcoming. As for the food, we started with the artichoke and spinach dip. It was good, but unfortunately, I don't think it was worth the $20+ price tag. The portion and price made it feel more like it should have been an entrée than an appetizer. Unfortunately, my salmon was served raw in the middle. I had to send it back, and by that point, I had completely lost my appetite, which was disappointing. My mom ordered the Asian chicken salad. It was perfectly fine, but neither of us felt like it was anything particularly special or memorable. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, especially given how excited I was to finally try it. The atmosphere and service were great, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the expectations I had going in. Maybe it was just an off day, but for the prices, I expected a little more.

Ive seen many other negative reviews of the cleanliness or rude staff, but didnt get any of that today! Honestly I think its a good experience to go out and try this resturant. I think the foods good, so I'll probably come back with friends or family to try new items!

We made dinner reservations same day on a Wednesday and arrived at 6pm. There was live jazz music playing in the bar to the left of the restaurant which set a nice romantic lively mood for the evening. There was a slight wait before the hostess escorted us to our table in a dimly lit room. Vibe was romantic, polished, and relaxed. Since it was my birthday, the hostess gifted me a "Happy Birthday" card with a thoughtful message inside. (Because we were celebrating my birthday, we received a free cheesecake dessert and pina colada cotton candy towards end of our meal -- it was spectacular). Eventually our gracious server Steven, arrived and introduced himself and provided us our dinner and drinks menu. Their drink menu was extensive and had a wide selection of wines and cocktails. One of my favorite parts of experience was the "Omakase" customized drink option (I'd come back just for that experience alone). My husband requested for a smoky, spicy cocktail with Tequila and what the server brought back to us was indescribably delicious. We can tell the mixologist who made our drink was a master at her craft. 10/10 recommend. For the food portion, we both selected the 4 course DineLA customized menu and got one of each item on the menu so we can try everything. We loved the Japanese fusion of flavors. I especially enjoyed the Appetizer Hamachi shots and Crispy Shrimp Amaebi. It had a refreshing balance of flavors that were good teasers for the next dish on menu, which was the Wedge salad (loved) and Beef Tataki (it was okay). Then came the main entree, which we both got the Filet mignon, which was a good standard steak at a fine dining steakhouse. I was slightly surprised the steak did not have any Japanese flavor notes since it's a Japanese fusion steakhouse. Nonetheless, that did not take away from our pleasant experience. Next time, I'd probably opt for a ribeye or tomahawk. Last but not least, the dessert finally came. We felt VERY spoiled because not only did we have the incredible flourless chocolate cake (my favorite) and mango sorbet (refreshing), we also got a cheesecake and cotton candy, which we were able to take home to enjoy later. We were beyond satisfied by end of our meal and would definitely consider coming back again. Thank you Alexander's Steakhouse for a great experience!

The greeter and server were very welcoming. I love how cozy the table is set up. I love a very thoughtful gesture when I saw a happy anniversary card waiting at our table. The menu has a variety of choices. We ordered the filet mignon and paired with a glass of Cabernet, the cod chioppino in lobster broth and paired with a glass of Pinot Grigio. For sides, we ordered the mushroom medley and Korean roasted cauliflower. The food is so perfectly prepared. For dessert, we ordered the cookie and cream soufflé, a yummy dessert. They also gave us our anniversary desserts which are the yizu cheesecake and the fun cotton candy. We are very pleased with this wonderful dinner celebration. Thank you Alexander's steakhouse.

There are 2 other North Woods Inn locations (Covina and La Mirada), one Steak 'N Stein (Pico Rivera) and one Clearman's Galley, also here in San Gabriel, aka "The Boat" for its signature red boat exterior. There used to be a Steak 'N Stein in San Gabriel as well, but now it's just a larger North Woods. The Galley has relocated and been enlarged a few feet south of its original spot; it's now akin to a sports bar, but kids are welcome. Both restaurants are on Rosemead just south of Huntington. A a child I was entranced by North Woods Inn's signature snow-topped roof. The exterior and interior are styled as a winter mountain log cabin hunting lodge. The interior is filled with lodge tchotchkes like taxidermied bears, mounted elk heads, stained glass windows of wintry scenes. The floor is strewn with sawdust and peanut shells you are encouraged to throw there. The dining room is on the dark side and has a full bar. There are several large banquet rooms beyond the restrooms. We came for the DineLA lunch. Note the restaurant has 2 entrances, the host stand is located inside the north entrance; look for the snow-topped entry arch and the Christmas pine trees on the doors. The main menu sits on each table on an easel. Every table gets a bowl of peanuts. The DineLA menu has 3 courses, all with options, at both lunch and dinner, with fancier options on the pricier dinner menu. Any beverages are extra. Here's what we ordered: 1) Beer-battered zucchini sticks. Ordered a la carte. Decent zucchini, but a smallish portion. The blue cheese dressing served alongside did not have strong blue cheese flavour. 2) Starter. Options were salads (house and red cabbage) or soup, plus cheese bread. The cabbage salad had a decent vinaigrette, the house salad's house dressing was rather bland, ranch-like I suppose. The clam chowder was okay, more potatoes than clams. There was another soup option I don't recall. The cheese bread was very good. 3) Entree. Options were petite steak and shrimp, petite filet mignon or jumbo coconut shrimp. We had the first two. The petite steak was a top sirloin, decently grilled with properly hatched grill marks. The 3 shrimp were supposedly grilled, served with drawn butter and lemon. The petite filet was indeed petite. We both opted for the baked potato side, with cheese butter. Large and pretty tasty. Other carb options were rice pilaf or steak fries. 4) Dessert. Key Lime Pie Tart or Chocolate Mousse Cake. The tart came wrapped in paper like a muffin, nicely tart with a bit of an aftertaste. Service was nice and attentive. Overall a decent meal, good value with DineLA. I'd call this a mid-level steakhouse, probably better than Outback but lesser than The Derby, Fleming's or Ruth's Chris.

Looking online they have a $35 per person free set menu which wasn't even given to us. They up charge $10 to share. No thank you. I might as well order my own food and take home leftovers. They wanted to up charge $1 for fries instead of rice pilaf. Talk about nickel and dimming folks. Food was just ok. I certainly don't need to rush back. Northwoods has been a staple for so long and the quality has just gone down. So sad
