Lol I would only get bowls from Roots & Rye in Pasadena when I worked there, but decided to try Ubatuba now that I'm in the OC area. I am so happy I did. I love how their bowls are customizable and the service has been great. There are 3 sizes, small, medium or large. The young lady is nice, she did let us know we could sample the flavors, she explained their menu to us, since it was our first time there. They have different bases, matcha, coconut, mango, acaí, and not sure what else. I usually get coconut, mango and add overnight oats. It's a very good combination. The mango base is a bit sweet for me, but it balances out with the coconut and oats. I love the honey almond granola, not sweet, which I love. They have papaya, mango, peach, banana, strawberry, blueberries, and probably forgetting others lol. I only add mango and banana. You can add Nutella, condensed milk, peanut butter, almond butter, pistachio butter, i usually don't. I just add agave, but they also have honey. They also have seeds, yogurt, bee pollen, goji berries, toasted coconut, etc. Besides acaí bowls they have empanadas, never tried, and smoothies. I like how they're open late, they close at 10. They have a few tables for you to enjoy your bowl there. It does get a little busy though. read more

I originally heard of Ubatuba after attending a Yelp event and had to come back to bring my kids when we were in the area on a hot day. Besides the staff member not knowing how to split the order from a large bowl into a smaller bowl for my boys, it was a nice treat! We got the acai base with mangoes, peaches, strawberries, gluten-free granola, chia seeds, dried cranberries, agave, karob chips, bee pollen, toasted coconut, and oreos. Very tasty. The acai is a bit more on the icy side, but I think that's the intent. Not sure about that. My boys and I gobbled it all up! We're fans. Plenty of spots to sit inside. They also sell empanadas and smoothies. Parking is in the huge Wholesome Choice lot. read more

I came due to the yelp event and was awarded a medium Acai bowl and an empanada. The staff was friendly but had a mishap. The girl basically kind of accused me of already claiming my yelp event, but I never been there before. Basically after proving my "innocence" by showing an email, text, and etc she said that she most likely checked someone else's name by mistake because someone else name "Michelle" was on top of mine..but we had different last names. Ok...well I mean I didn't like being accused of lying when she stated she checked it herself (and checked the wrong person on the list) and didn't even apologize. It was a bit humiliating honestly, and I was just going to say I'll just pay or leave. At the end, it sorted out. The guy who helped me was friendly. I got my bowl. Purchased a few extra empanadas. The bowl was good. The empanadas wasn't bad honestly. I got the beef and it was great. All in all, the food was good. Would I come back? Yes but I'll prob send my husband instead of me. Wow, I'm blown away by the service here. The space is very clean, and the cashier who helped me was so sweet. She explained the menu to me and let me try samples and gave me recommendations. The chicken empanada was fresh, hot, and delicious. Super flavorful and not dry whatsoever. It comes with a red and green sauce. The red is mild hot sauce and was good but the star of the show was the green sauce! I like the flat fee for the bowl with unlimited toppings up until it's full. I tried the pitaya, acai, and mango based and the mango was my favorite - fresh and not too sweet. The acai was the least sweet, pitaya the sweetest! I enjoyed the almond granola that was recommended. They have toppings unique to Brazil wich is really cool and fruits like Japanese snow peaches, southern peaches, kiwis, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry, mango, and then a huge assortment of healthy toppings. read more

It was good but the filling looked a little like it curdled a bit. I'm not sure if it was because it was overheated or what. We finished it. He liked it and did not even notice. I think I was expecting the filling to look smoother like Nutella out of a jar but it looked a little off. Service was good and it was easy to find parking. I'm a big connoisseur of açai bowls and very particular so I had high standards! This little place is cutely decorated and clean...the service was amazing and the açai bowl and empanada that I was offered to try for this event we're both delicious ! The açai bowls have multiple bases to choose from, fruit, nut butters, nuts, seeds, and much more! There are three different size bowls and one price for each gets you as many toppings as you wish! Everything was very fresh and delicious! The empanada was delicious. I got a chicken salsa Verde, which came with two different amazing sauces! The açai bowls are very competitively priced with others in the Orange County area but I thought the empanada at $5.75 for one was a little bit pricey! I love Acai bowls and couldn't miss this yelp experience. It's a make your own bowl place. There were a lot of varieties for base not just Acai, which I really enjoyed. The fruits were fresh and added the needed punch. I wouldn't add any sweetener as the base was a little too sweet for my taste. There were lot of vegetarian/ vegan empanada options which I appreciate as I only eat halal. The empanada was really good and the accompanying sauces just elevated the taste. I love empanadas, so I thought I'd try this place. I got three empanadas: beef, and chicken, mushroom and cheese, and mushroom (which also included cheese). Served with the empanadas are chili sauce and chimichurri sauce. All three empanadas were delicious --- crispy on the outside, filled to bursting with ingredients on the inside, with perhaps beef being my personal favorite. I happily dipped pieces of the empanadas into the chili and chimichurri sauces and was a happy camper. The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxed and the decor bright and colorful, as they're mainly focused on their acai offerings. First time here and was pretty happy with everything I got! I love that you can try all the bases and there is no limit. Unfortunately, the matcha base doesn't taste like much to me but the other bases are quite good! We got also got the margarita and beef empanadas. The margarita was delicious but the beef was a tiny bit dry (but still delicious). The workers were patient with me trying all the bases and service was quick. Not too crowded and easy parking. **BEWARE OF POTENTIAL THC TOXICITY!!** I ordered a custom small bowl and believe that the granola and overnight oats may have been contaminated with THC, because after eating 15% of my bowl across the space of a couple of minutes, my mouth felt unusually tingly and numb. And I suspected toxicity because of the hemp milk ingredients inside, so threw away the rest of the bowl even though I was super excited to try this place for a healthy experience. The whole laundry list of symptoms from edible THC ingestion followed and continued for about a week. One symptom I still have that developed almost right after I ate some of this açaí bowl is a twitchy right eyelid. Nowadays, almost a month later, it flares up a little bit when the stress neurotransmitters fire off in my brain. I'm not saying that Ubatuba Açaí for sure puts THC into some of their ingredients, like their granola and hemp milk selections (which I tried to avoid), but the signs were so spot-on that I needed to write this review as a warning to other unsuspecting visitors, that this place very well may have some THC contamination that's not disclosed. Needless to say, I'll never go back here ever again nor will I feel a strong proclivity for açaí shops or even smoothie shops anymore, unless they're an established chain like Starbucks or Jamba Juice, where time has proven their food and drinks to be not only reliable but also delicious. read more

The staff explained the different options they had, it was our first time there. Basically, if you go with the build your own option, you can choose from a couple of base options. They have a lot of different toppings, fruits options and sauces. You're limited to the brim of the cups, but they do not voluntarily fill it to the brim. If your cup/bowl has more room, as for more toppings. I got the açaí base and I got several toppings ( I don't remember the specifics haha). The bowl I got was pretty good. Although my bowl was filled to the top. Now that I have a better idea of how things work, I will be giving it another try. I like the option of building my own instead of having a set menu. There is 2-3 tables inside, however, there are seats and tables outside in the common area. The tables are shaded by an umbrella. Gonna be getting my moneys worth on my next visit. read more

Stopped by for the grand opening of Ubatuba Açai and got their bogo deal. If you want fresh ingredients and a refreshing dessert without feeling heavy, you found a place. There are a few different bases. I got the mango and Matcha. There's a ridiculous number of toppings that you can choose from, including fruits almonds Oreo cookies and almost anything you can think of. Cops come in three different sizes and I recommend a medium for the best deal. There's only a few tables and chairs in the seating area, but there are plenty of places to sit right outside in the courtyard. This place is located in the same space as that poke place that used to be there. They had a special going on according to Instagram, so we decided to go slightly before it closed to avoid the crowd. They serve acai bowls. There were two people that wanted a bowl in my party and it resulted in a complete mess that did not happen when we ordered two items individually when in line at Chipotle, which also has the process of creating one's bowl down an assembly line. What happened was that they assigned one person to perform the assembly, which made him assemble it down the entire path of ingredients listening to one party member, and leaving the other member waiting for him to return. While doing this, a second party showed up behind the waiting member and a second employee started assembling their order and/or providing them samples, and they got further ahead in the assembly process than the waiting party member who didn't know what to do while waiting for his assembly and ended up being little more than an obstacle to the process for the second party since he was waiting for the applicable step to be completed. However, it didn't result in any traffic jam at the cash register and they managed to pay. Since the second party member felt rushed, the second party member ended up not having his bowl filled as much as the first party member and he wasn't satisfied with the quantity. However, they did say it looked healthy. I think if we want food from here in the future we'll just order online. We don't always have the energy to do verbal ordering. read more
