I like to be indulgent when going out and trying as much as I can. So food items Appetizers Ribs. Not the braised ribs. I can't find the kind we had, on the online menu. These were on the sweeter side and notnlacking in meat, oh so good! Fried pork chop. Good serving, but was more of a try it out item.. It's a fried breaded pork chop Spring rolls were deliscious Spicy chicken wontons.( not spicy at all, but my spice level is pretty high) still good and loved the sauce they were in. String beans with garlic, a win. You can never go wrong with these. Noodles with sesame and added the braised beef. Deliscious Noodles with the diced beef and szechuan peppers. It was good but I preferred the sesame noodles so much more. They have Pepsi products in case you are a coca cola lover. The manager did try to make me an extra spicy sauce. I appreciated the effort and did use it all, but it was not hot. I know it is not about the hot and the food had great flavor. I just prefer a kick of heat. Oh had the soup dumpling sampler. I have to say I really liked them all, but the truffle one was my favorite. Most are full of pork and they had one chicken filled. Last but not least A.J. our server. Was training on the job. I've been wanting to try this family-style place ever since it opened, and it did NOT disappoint. I had heard mixed reviews about this place, so I wanted to come check it out for myself. I came here with my boyfriend for our one year anniversary and had a great experience. We were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server was nice and attentive. Food came out within minutes after ordering. Portion sizes were larger than I had expected. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Overall, no complaints. I would highly recommend the spicy chicken wontons. They were delectable. They were not that spicy, however, maybe like a 5/10 for spice level. Went tonight and we got dumplings, bao buns, soup dumplings, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. The dumplings, soup dumplings and bao buns were great! I think the server forgot to ring in my fried rice, so the person I was with got all their food before I did. When we asked about the fried rice, he went back and it came out 5 minutes later with an apology. When I went to eat it, I noticed there was a hair on top of it. We mentioned this to someone who looked like a manager and he apologized and said he'd bring me another, but when he brought me another there was a now a hair on the side of the plate! This place was great! Services was quick and our waiter made some really good recommendations. Unfortunately did not get to watch them make our dumplings but it sounded like a cool experience. We tried the pork soup dumplings, the spicy soup dumplings, chicken fried rice, and wonton soup. I also had a lychee martini which was very sweet and could easily see myself downing a few of those! I wish I could give it more stars but I was honestly disappointed in the dumplings. They were very bland and the Pork and Truffle dumpling (black dumpling) was disgusting. It smelled like rotten cheese and literally had to leave it aside. My pork dumplings were also not fully cooked, I saw a lot of pink in them but I honestly just thought that's how they were supposed to be since this was my first experience with soup dumplings. The service was ok, it wasn't the best, and the vibe in the area is pretty good. it's not too overstimulating. I did end up having a really bad stomach ache immediately after i got home and threw up all my dumplings. So I don't think I would recommend this place to anyone, it's just overpriced for the quality of the dumplings. read more

Wonderful selection of dumplings in the sampler. My husband had braised beef and broccoli pho soup and loved it. I absolutely adored the mango tea with passion fruit bubbles. All y'all who said Ugly Dumpling was fire, lied. It was mediocre. We ordered the following: Fried Pork Chop - bit dry, and not the flavor profile I was expecting. I thought it would be Chinese style but it was more American style. 4/10 Soup dumpling sampler - 4 out of 5 had no soup in them (the truffle one had great flavor, the rest were bleh). They came out warm and not piping hot from the steamer. 4/10 Spicy pork & shrimp wontons - was not spicy at all, it was swimming in soy sauce. 5/10 Braised beef noodle soup - the broth was decent, not salty but very star anise-y. The bowl was very small for $15, not worth it. 6/10 Noodles with sesame sauce - this was good, the peanut flavor was more forward than the sesame sauce. 6.5/10 Side note - chili oil was good Overall, I'd rather go to A&Js for all the items we ordered minus the soup dumplings, which they don't serve. Each item came out room temperature even the beef noodle soup. Points for great service though. Nathan was our server and he was very attentive. The food was served pretty quickly. Visited this place on the first weekend open, we were very excited to try the dishes. Understandably, they were sold out of a lot of items. We got the Pork Soup Dumplings, Noodles w Shredded Beef, Broccoli, and the Cucumber Salad. The soup dumplings were not as good as a place like Din Tai Fung, but for the lack of soup dumplings in the DMV area, these were top notch and I would happily get these again. The soup has a refreshing clean and herbal taste. The wontons are well made perfect amount of doe to chicken.
