We decided to try this place recently given the dearth of high quality Chinese food in the area. We were underwhelmed. First clue was the crab Rangoon on the menu. Ah yah! In all my years eating at Chinese restaurants, I've never seen this on the menu at a traditional Chinese place. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup. The soup was just OK. $15 for a bowl is par for the course for this region, but the bowl is sized for what you would get in Asia - tiny by American standards. Also, they claim to have beef tendon in the soup, but instead, it was really just globs of fat. I know the difference. We also ordered the soup dumplings, one pork and one sampler. The taste was OK, but when we asked for a spoon for the sauce, the server gave us a weird look. The sauce spoon is part of the experience! How else do you sauce your dumpling, dip it, pour sauce over it?!! Also I understand that soup dumplings are a delicate creature. Few places can create a wrapper that is thin enough so as to not feel like you're eating a dough ball and thick enough to hold in the soup without tearing as you lift it into your spoon. The ladies behind the window have clearly been brought in and trained recently to make them, so I don't blame them. Also, just so you know, the signature ugly dumpling bao is orange chicken with a pickle! If you want an authentic experience, this is not it. read more

Had to walk out of this place as soon as we were seated. My husband had questions at the front desk and asked if they honor the voucher on facebook about an all you can eat. The woman at the front desk seemed iritated that he had so many questions and said no she had no idea of any vouchers. My husband looked at the menu and decided to get a table for 2. She talked to her colleague as it seems she did not want to serve/guide us to our table. We were then led to our seats by this tall younger lady. We passed a couple of empty tables and booths. Then we were seated to our table chosen by the receptionist. Right next to the restroom near an open exit door. This would have been fine if the place was packed, with long lines and the tables were being reserved for big groups but NO! it was not busy at all and there were lots of empty tables. Maybe the front desk was not in a good mood or she just doesn't like us. But we felt very descriminated. Too bad i did not get her name. Brand new in the mall. Fantastic food and service. Our waiter, Michael, was the best. He carefully explained every bit of our experience and the menu, especially helpful when he found we were new to soup dumplings. Only two minor criticisms: their cocktail menu was limited and our drinks weren't particularly good. We also felt a little rushed at dinner on a Friday night. It was crowded on its inaugural week and there was a wait, but it felt just a teeny bit rushed to turn the table. We weren't encouraged to linger. That said, the food moves fast. I really enjoyed my visit! I went with my best friend and Justin was our server. He was so nice and attentive! The hostess was super friendly too! The food was delicious and fresh and the dumpling skin was so thin and delicious. Our favorites were the soup dumplings, the garlic green beans, and the steamed bun. I personally loved the pork and shrimp chili wontons. I saw a food review TikTok saying it wasn't great but needed to see for myself, and I was glad to have my expectations proven wrong. Dining inside the really pretty restaurant was definitely the move and our food was always piping hot and tasty! The decor was great and also the warm lighting was excellent. Heard about this new place. Excited to try new dim sum/dumpling place in NoVA. Took family and was not what expected. Flavors decent, but appetizer portions. Most notable dishes included garlic string beans sans brown butter sauce ( extra $3) and pork chop fried rice. It seemed that other tables had the same thought. For a party of six with hungry adolescents, ordered 6-7 items, and still left hungry. Music surprisingly did not match the ambiance, decor or cuisine, imo. They did honor military/ healthcare discount of 15% off of total. Thank you for that. With respect to customer service, could use some improvement. Servers seemed less than enthusiastic and maybe novices. Good to try new places in the area. read more

The food was great! Really tasty and had good variety. I know the restaurant is new but the servers need more training. Got no check ins and had to waive someone down to get anything. Also no refills on drinks were offered; was too tired of asking to bother with that request. Suggest ordering to go until the servers get better. Ugh I wanted to love this place so bad.. they sat us and a server did not come to greet us for about 15 minutes. Once we got a server he said "sorry we switched from our day shift servers to our night shift, are you ready yet". I was able to get over that part. We then ordered and our spicy chicken wontons came out extremely cold, that's when it got progressively more disappointing. Once we ordered our main entrees, they then forgot our chicken fried rice and I had to remind them to bring it out. It ended up not coming out until we were done eating our other entrees. I then ordered another round of different foods to try (the shredded beef noodles and another plate of orange chicken) and the served forgot our shredded beef noodles. We got them about 20 minutes after we were done eating. The kicker here, every time he forgot something, he wouldn't come back until it arrived. So he would just go MIA for long periods of time. It was not worth the 100 bucks. I'd rather go to YU noodle and or get this as takeout. read more

I had seen this place open up recently and thought that it looked pretty good. After seeing some stuff on social media I finally decided to try it out. I came in with my girlfriend around 6 to on a Saturday night and it wasn't too packed. First off the ambiance was pretty cool for the restaurant being inside the mall. We got seated right away and placed our order. The service was decent, I could tell the food runners and bussers were super nice, but also maybe like they don't have much experience as they were sometimes banging the plates of food on the table. Our server Elijah was super nice and helpful. Some of the food was really good and some of it was meh. First we ordered a couple appetizers. We ordered Crab rangoons, spicy shrimp and pork wontons, and crab and pork soup dumplings. The rangoons were a little weird. It was a little bitter from the frying oil, there was no crab, just straight cream cheese, and the dipping sauce wasn't a traditional sweet and sour sauce and had a bit of an apple flavor to it. The spicy shrimp and pork wontons were really good, the sauce, the filling, and the wrapper was nice. The crab and pork soup dumplings were decent too. The crab added a little bit of fishiness to the dumpling, but it wasn't too overwhelming. Appetizers 6.5/10. We also ordered the Mongolian beef and the beef noodle soup as our main courses. The beef noodle soup was really good... other than the noodles. The broth had a nice depth of flavor and different spices, the beef was super tender and fatty and beefy. The noodles were a little disappointing. For it to be one of their signature main dishes the noodles had to be the star of the show, but it disappointed. The noodles were overcooked and were kind of soggy and didn't have a nice texture to it as I was hoping for. Overall the noodle soup was good, but if it had those bouncy noodles it would be a really solid dish. The Mongolian beef was really good actually. The entire dish had a really nice flavor, the sauce was nice, the taste of the wok really came through, the beef was tender and a little crispy. My only complaint is that there is way too many vegetables. They load the dish up with stalks of green onions and red bell pepepers and there's only maybe 8-10 slices of beef in the whole dish, with 80% of it being green onions and peppers swimming in the sauce. Overall this place is not terrible at all. The prices are decent, but the food is around a 6.9 overall. I'd come back read more
