Came here for a business dinner. They ordered several appetizers for the table Fried Green Tomato "BLT" (Pork belly, pimiento cheese, frisée, tomato jam), Gator Tail (Chili-marinated Fresh From Florida alligator, dusted in seasoned flour, flash-fried, with spicy remoulade) and Calamari (Crispy fried North Atlantic calamari, lightly battered and flash-fried with pickled jalapeño peppers, Florida citrus glaze and fiery-sweet chili aioli). I thought all were very good along with the Karson's Jalapeño Corn Beer Muffins (Roasted fresh corn, pickled jalapeño, Ulele Pale Lager and creamed corn -- baked daily and served with whipped butter). I ordered the WORK OF ART cocktail (Dutch Barn vodka, pineapple amaro, Aperol, fresh pineapple juice, fresh-squeezed lime juice and simple syrup). Really good! For my entree I went with the Seafood Risotto (Pan-seared shrimp and sea scallops, butter-poached lobster claw, crawfish tail meat, saffron risotto, charred corn cream sauce and seasonal vegetable). It was good and had plenty of seafood in it but the green beans were a little undercooked. I wish I had gone with the Water Works Meatloaf my coworker chose because it was featured as "Best Thing I Ever Ate" by Food Network celebrity Chef Robert Irvine. He was not disappointed in the least. The highlight of the meal was the Bourbon Butter Cake (With house-made Ugandan vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream, blackberry). Proportions of cake to ice cream were just right. Cake was moist and not too dense and "We All Scream for Ice Cream"! Absolutely would order this again! Part of our group arrived before us and had already been seated. Never really felt that we were waiting for the server for drink refills. The building was very cool and validated parking.
Not a local, but I've visited this place every time I've been in Tampa because I just enjoy the food so much. The fish, alligator bites, chicken - doesn't matter what protein it is - all taste fresh and delicious. On this visit, we tried the soft shell crab and couldn't get enough! The combination of spices and ingredients were well paired. Even our salad was on point. Adding 4 stars because although the food was great, the drinks selection was not on the same level. If you're not a drinker, the mocktail I tried was also average (a bit on the sweeter side), so be sure to ask your server for recommendations. Service was great and because they get so busy the service is efficient. Our server was nice, helpful, and energetic. Recommend reservations, to avoid long waits!
I had a great experience at Ulele! I ordered the Gouda Grouper, and it was so good that I finished every bite. The flavors were amazing, and it was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a while. I am gluten-free so it was nice they had this option. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts. The building has an industrial, warehouse-style look with tons of unique décor that gives it a really fun vibe. Our waitress was incredibly nice, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. If you're in the Tampa area, I definitely recommend giving Ulele a try. I'll definitely be back!
Quite the interesting place... not just based upon food but the location, the ambiance and the decor. Located just north of Downtown at the south end of the Heights... and it's great. Plenty of parking along the roadways, and in the nearby parking lots for the neighboring Water Works (city park) and Armature Works (food hall and social venue). They had valet for years but I'm not sure they still offer the service. The venue is huge... large red, brick building with outdoor sitting and a bar but they also have outdoor art to be impressed, a pond with fish for kids to admire, overlooking the Hillsborough River and lovely gardens (and all of it is maintained impeccable). The interior is industrial and a bit masculine but the views outside and more exhibits of art balance the atmosphere. Love the exposed kitchen and the glass wine enclosure under the stairs. The menu, as it was explained to me, was inspired by the indians that inhabited this area originally. I've been here numerous times but even with this latest visit, all my visits have been limited to lunch. Some of the dishes I have truly enjoyed: NATIVE CHILI: Not the typical ingredients but excellent nonetheless... rather than just beef and bean (as I am used to normally), this chili had alligator, boar, venison, duck, ground chuck and cranberry beans. CLASSIC BURGER: Ulele offers so many delicious dishes but sometimes a simple player is the way to go and the burger here does not disappoint... great balance of meat to cheddar cheese and those pickles are on-point. WATER WORKS MEATLOAF: I grew up loving meatloaf even though no one in my family made a good one (always ordered in restaurants); trying this one sets the bar to a new level... I'd enjoy that cabernet garlic demi-glaze all day everyday. PULCO CARPACCIO: Thin slices of octopus with a sauce that is rememberable (except for the name). Not sure if on the menu or if it was a special. As a fair warning, it does come off a bit touristy but the food is along with the atmosphere/decor is excellent...
First time at Armature. Started off here for some drinks and a snack. We sat outside at the bar. It was heating up so questionable decision. I had two frozes with floaters and the calamari. Drinks were pretty perfect for the weather. Melting a bit faster than I could drink, perhaps. Calamari wasn't a huge portion but tasted alright. Personally, I prefer body pieces but good amount of legs too. Service was very good.
Exquisite food, good vibes and the oysters were to DIE FOR. Kudos to our chef and server of the night. Ulele sits right at the end of the Riverwalk. Ample space to sit outside and you can't go wrong with a Frosé from the outside bar.

Been around Ulele many times but never had the chance to try it until now! Very nice place and location. It is an older building but has a great mix of modern and rustic vins to it. Parking can be a pain here since you have to pay to park and walk a fairly short distance. They do offer valet when available. Service was amazing from the front staff to our waitress. Very kind and upfront about everything. The food was really good and I honestly can't wait to bring the wife here. The flavors meshed very well. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich and my only complaint is that the slaw was a little too wet so the bottom bun was mushy and it needed a little more sauce. I did ask for more and it helps bring everything together. We finished off with the key lime pie or more of a play on key lime pie. More of a pudding mixed with a tart. But still great lime flavor!
Ulele is a very fun spot with great food! The location is right by Armature Works and the bay. The service was great with lots of good recommendations. For drinks, we had the springside smash and the highland-rita, very good but strong. We got calamari and clams to start, which did not disappoint. For our mains, we got the trout, grouper, and pork shanks. The steelhead trout was the best; however, you can't go wrong with any of those dishes! To end the meal, we got coconut ice cream, which was a great way to end a great experience!
Tried Ulele and overall it was a good! We started with the jalapeño cornbread and chili and WOW... that combo was so good and honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. I got a mojito and let me just say... she was STRONG. For mains, we got the meatloaf and the seafood risotto. The meatloaf was okay for me personally, I think I would've liked it more with a ketchup-style sauce instead of gravy, and it was a little denser than I usually prefer. The seafood risotto was good but could've used a little more seasoning. The surprise favorite though? The green beans. Those were SO good. The atmosphere was really cute and the location is such a plus since it's right by the bay and close to Armature Works, which made it fun to walk around afterward. Service was great too, our waiter was super nice and attentive, and the restaurant was clean. Overall, glad we tried it!
First time here. This place is awesome. We were 13 in our group and they were able to seat us with no problem. The food was fantastic. We ordered appetizers, one of each. Oysters. Then we ordered dinner entrees. Everyone loved there food. I ordered the tuna rare. OMG. I had to go and tell the chef how great my dish was. This l place was great for a night out or a date for sure. I will come here again when I get back to Tampa. I highly recommend this place.
I opted for the Pina con Fuego cocktail to start. It was a perfect cocktail! It wasn't too sweet and it had the Smokey flavor. I got the braised short rib as my meal and it was fork tender. The flavors are a classic and it was delicious. For dessert I got the special limited banana ice cream and it was phenomenal! The real banana flavor really comes through!
Ulele was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Even before we stepped inside, we were impressed. The area surrounding the restaurant is beautiful and makes for a great place to walk around and explore. Once inside, the atmosphere is just as impressive, and thankfully the food, drinks, and service live up to the hype. My dad and I started with the Gator Tail appetizer. Neither of us had ever tried alligator before, so we were really curious to see what it was like. Turns out, we loved it! It tastes surprisingly similar to chicken and was a fun way to try something new. For our mains, my dad ordered their famous Meatloaf, and after trying a bite, we completely understand why it's one of their signature dishes. It was excellent. I went with Barry's Tomahawk Pork Chop, and it was outstanding. The pork was cooked perfectly; juicy, tender, and not dry whatsoever. The real star, though, was the guava demi-glace, which added such a unique and delicious flavour to the dish. The beer selection was great too. I especially enjoyed the Wedding Beer Berry Lager, which was refreshing and packed with flavour. We also saved room for dessert. We tried the Candied Maple Bacon Ice Cream and the Bourbon Butter Cake. The ice cream wasn't really my favourite; I thought the cornflakes were a bit of a strange addition, but my dad enjoyed it. The Bourbon Butter Cake, on the other hand, was delicious and a great way to finish off the meal. Between the beautiful setting, excellent food, great drinks, and friendly service, it's easy to see why Ulele is such a popular Tampa destination. Beautiful location down by armature works and I learned today it's the same owners as the famous Columbia restaurant! At night they had the gas fires going and it was very pretty. I had to try the meatloaf and it definitely delivered! The sauce was amazing and it was charred and crispy edges. The short ribs I thought were just okay, the meatloaf sauce was better. Service was exceptional and the kind where they box your leftovers for you. Definitely order wine off the menu, I ordered a house Cabernet which has never done me wrong and it ended up being $16 a glass vs the $11 or $12 menu prices for other red wine. read more

I was visiting Tampa and was taken to Ulele to try and it definitely lived up to the hype! Getting to the place was easy. Traffic isn't terrible, but I can forsee parking being a hasle if you don't know where to go or aren't using the valet. Overall the area is very welcoming and the ambiance of the restaurant is comfortable. The service was also great. Our waitress was very friendly, had great humor, and always made sure we were happy with what we had. Lastly, the food. It was spectacular. The oysters as an appetizer were great. Anything with butter, garlic, and cheese will taste great. I then got the risotto as my main dish and it was also fantastic. It was creamy and all the seafood was cooked properly. Best of all, there was a good amount of protein in it. Overall, this is a must go-to place to eat if in the area. read more

I was very impressed by the food, staff, and overall ambiance of this restaurant and definitely plan to come back soon. The menu offers a lot of unique options, and I absolutely loved the shrimp barbacoa appetizer. The shrimp were large, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly grilled, served with an incredible parsnip and celery root purée, microgreens, tomatoes, and asparagus. It was easily the standout dish for me. I also tried the charbroiled oysters, which several people told me were a must-have before leaving Tampa. While I wasn't as impressed by the oysters as I was by the shrimp, this was actually the first time I have ever had oysters that I liked, so I may just not be a big oyster person. I also felt the value was much better with the shrimp at $18 for six jumbo shrimp compared to the oysters at $25 for six, especially since the oysters were far less filling despite costing more. Our waiter was super friendly, and I loved the view from the spacious outdoor seating area with the surrounding sculptures, which really added to the experience. read more

I really like this place! I'm from a Tampa and I really like it. I've been a couple of times but it's been a while for sure. I was excited to go back and retry the food. Visited Ulele for Veterans Day and it was quite busy although not running any Veterans Day specials which I thought was odd. We had a 7:30pm reservation and we arrived rather early and didn't get seated til 10 mins after. Service was a bit slow but overall I really enjoyed my meal at Ulele. We started out with some apps, Calamari, Crab Mac n Cheese and the Charbroiled Oysters. Surprisingly the Crab Mac was the star of the show out of the apps. Mac n cheese was creamy and they loaded it with Blue Crab Meat. The calamari wasn't bad but the dipping sauce was not my favorite and I think that is why this dish missed the mark for me. The charbroiled oysters were super flavorful and you should def ask for more of the bread that comes with these for dipping! For my entree I ordered the Filet with mash potato's and green beans and for being a seafood restaurant this filet was phenomenal! It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was also on point I throughly enjoyed this entree! This was my first time being seated upstairs and I really enjoyed this space it seemed more private and intimate than the open downstairs seating. Overall we did have a great experience just wish we could have been seated prior to or at our reservation time. Will definitely be back to Ulele in the near future! read more

This place has great food, the indoors and outdoor seating both great, outside you can people watch and has an outside bar. Inside had some stained glass and statues. We wanted to try a little bit of everything, the okra was good but I felt it was on the salty side.My husband enjoyed the meatloaf , in fact he finished the whole thing. It was the perfect size and no left overs. I had the grilled oysters and I usually don't like oysters but these were delicious. The shrimp was just the right size for an appetizer and I wasn't too hungry so it was perfect with the oyster as a meal. Lastly the homemade ice cream was delicious. We've been fans of Ulele for years because the food and atmosphere are always incredible, but after this weekend it became a place that will forever mean something deeply personal to us. I reached out while planning a proposal to my now fiancée at the nearby park, hoping to arrange a small photo shoot area with champagne before dinner. After one quick email, the General Manager personally called me and spent time talking through ideas and helping make the evening special. Even with that conversation, I was completely unprepared for just how extraordinary they made everything. When we arrived, we followed a trail of rose petals to a beautifully decorated private table waiting for us with flowers, a handwritten card, champagne, and glasses already set. It honestly felt like something out of a movie. The attention to detail and genuine care from the entire team was unbelievable. The manager working that evening and our server were both absolutely wonderful -- warm, attentive, and sincerely excited for us. And on top of all of that, the food was phenomenal as always. I'm still in awe of how special Ulele made the night feel. I truly cannot imagine a better place to have proposed. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we'll definitely be back for many anniversaries and celebrations to come. Highly, highly recommend. read more

Love this Tampa staple! Came here for lunch this past weekend and was blown away. I've been several times before, and I've always had a stellar experience. The venue itself is placed perfectly on the outskirts of Armature Works, with beautiful greenery on the patio, and the inside is nicely decorated. The noise levels also weren't too crazy. Our waitress Nataleigh was amazing! She was so nice, attentive, and patient with our party. We started off with a dozen charbroiled oysters, which never disappoint. I was stuck between a few of the sandwiches and she actually ended up showing up the steak sandwich on the specials menu. I went with that and I am so happy I did! I was visiting family in the area and we went to Ulele. We sat inside during dinner service and it was quite loud and hard to hear one another. I knew it'd be bustling as it was a weekend night. The service was good, and the waitress we had was friendly. The food and drinks are fun and delicious at Ulele. I ordered the Chef's Steak which was $32. It comes with an 8 oz Hanger steak aged a minimum of 21 days, with an avocado "Jimmychurri", roasted fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetable which in my case was green beans. It was delicious. I love eating steak at restaurants but Ulele's steak was tender, and each dish component went really well together to make a delicious cohesive dish. I ordered the Ulele Sunrise drink which had tequila, muddled cucumber, mango puree, triple sec and simple syrup. I really enjoyed it! A fun tidbit: there's a unique menu item of Native Chili that has alligator in it for the adventurous types. I did not order this but a loved one did and they really enjoyed it. While visiting a very close friend in Tampa, I had the pleasure of dining at Ulele and it was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, I was struck by the stunning ambience. The interior was jaw-dropping, beautifully designed with care and creativity. We started with the broiled oysters and okra fries, which were divine. For my main course, I had the seafood with creamy risotto and it was perfectly cooked and flavorful, I'm still thinking about it because each bite was mouthwatering and satisfying. Service did not miss a beat from check in, to departure. The location added even more magic to the evening. Our walk to the restaurant was charming in itself, with the surrounding area decorated in a whimsical fashion that made the experience feel more special. Although I don't live in Tampa, I would absolutely return to Ulele in a heartbeat. I can see why my friend insisted we go. If you find yourself in Tampa, don't miss this gem. read more

First time visiting Tampa and a friend recommended this place. I ordered a fish dish also got a maple cake. Every dish was delicious. The service was great. I was there on a Sunday, so less congested. They also have a grassy area for kids to play in the patio section. The place was clean and kept up. Try it. Amazing restaurant! It's been on my list for a while and I'm glad I finally gave it a try. I tried their salmon that came served with roasted corn and spinach and it was delicious. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and the restaurant was filled so it was a little noisy and hard to hear the person I was with. The server was polite though and she made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our food. I wish I got a better picture of inside but the outside does not do it justice! Brought two visiting friends here to celebrate one of their birthdays, and boy did I make the right choice! Our reservation was at 7:30, and in March that meant we sat down just in time to catch the stunning sunset through the big glass windows. We started with the charbroiled oysters; absolutely delicious. The bread for soaking up the toppings from the shell was a nice touch that completed the dish. All three of us ordered the seafood risotto. I'd been hyping it up for months before they arrived, and it made me proud as a host. The risotto was absolutely amazing. Creamy, rich, and loaded with seafood, with the green beans also coming in a generous portion. We also ordered the Fuego street corn (on the cob!) after noticing so many tables around us had it, so delicious! The corn is sweet, the seasoning is delightful, no wonder it's a favorite. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we went with the key lime stack for dessert. Great tartness, a delightful treat to share after such a meal. I also want to highlight our server, who brought out a beautiful box of chocolates for my birthday friend. It absolutely made our night. I want first mention our AMAZING server Elvin. He was fun, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience 10/10. The food was so delicious. I started with the charbroiled oysters which were a perfect blend of cheesy and salty! My seafood risotto was creamy and delicious! Let me just say--divine doesn't even begin to describe the brisket mac 'n' cheese I had at Ulele. Creamy, rich, cheesy perfection laced with tender, smoky brisket... it's the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes and pause mid-bite. Yeah. That good. We didn't have a reservation (rookie move, I know), but the staff was super accommodating and we were lucky enough to grab a spot at the food bar--no wait, no problem! Honestly, watching the action in the kitchen added an extra layer of flavor to the experience. Service was chill, efficient, and friendly--the kind of vibe that matches the atmosphere: upscale but approachable. The interior is stunning, and you really feel like you're in a space that respects both history and creativity. Ulele continues to prove why it's a Tampa staple. Oh my goodness...what an awesome find I had from yelp on my last business trip to tampa! It was busy on a Tuesday evening in june 2025- but they had ample outdoor seating for walk it's without reservations. Dining im the heat isnt a big deal to me, and I ordered a cocktail that was refreshing and a bit sweet- unfortunately I forgot the name of it. I had just flown in that afternoon and was starving! I couldn't decide between the meatloaf and the pork shank- I am so happy my waiter convinced me to give the pork shank a try! I have never had pork prepared this way! It reminded me of oso bucco! Definitely check this place out for good vibes, food and drinks. We got seating at the outdoor bar, which was perfect with the weather. We grabbed a couple of drinks and then some dinner after walking a bit of the Riverwalk. I tried a couple of different drinks, one mango margarita and the other was a charred pineapple marg. As for dinner, my boyfriend got the ribeye and I ordered the fire roasted chicken. Both entrees were super tasty and cooked really well. The star here was definitely the charbroiled oysters though! First time at Ulele. It is in Armature Works where there is a beautiful view of the Channel and also beautiful areas for sitting outside on a sunny day. There are whimsical metal structures outside and when you enter the restaurant the decor is industrial chic. Our server was super friendly! We started with the jalapeño corn beer muffins were outstanding. Just the perfect amount of kick and sweet. We followed with a Shaved Brussel Sprout salad which was just ok. For our main meals we ordered the Mahi Mahi and the Pompano fish. Both were very good but the sauce on the Pompano was delish. Son ordered the NY Strip with mashed potatoes and it was a very large portion. Everything was going well up to there and it would've been enough for us to want to come back again but we decided to order dessert. The three of us shared the Pineapple Upside Down Bread Pudding and the Bourbon Butter Cake and O.M.G!!!! It was out of this world. They were both the most exceptional desserts I've ever had but the Bourbon Butter Cake is just another level. We will definitely come back to Ulele on our next trip back to Tampa!!! read more

After living in the area for almost a year, I finally had the chance to try Ulele, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere had a charming, cozy vibe. The restaurant was also very kid-friendly, which made the experience even better. We started with the charbroiled oysters as an appetizer, which were absolutely delicious. I especially loved dipping the bread in the rich, buttery sauce. For my main dish, I ordered the meatloaf. It was flavorful and well-seasoned, though I found it slightly on the cooler side temperature-wise. It came with mashed potatoes, green beans, and crispy onion strings, which complemented the meal nicely. My friend ordered the crab cakes and thought they were pretty good. This has to be one of my biggest Tampa food recommendations. I've been here twice now and both times have left so impressed. The first was for my boyfriend's birthday, he got an amazing blackberry whiskey cocktail and I've been dreaming about the steak we ordered ever since. The second time was for my mom's birthday and the staff gave us complimentary artisan chocolates to celebrate. I believe they do, but if not the Columbia does an AMAZING job accommodating any/all allergies - they have a special allergy menu, you just have to ask for it.
Can I get some details on the happy hour if there is one and if there is still an oyster happy hour as well?
No happy hour other than the oyster happy hour which I believe they still have. It's only on Tuesday's from 4-6 and they are $1 raw oysters. The offer is only available at the oyster bar.

While many items cross-over to the dinner menu, sandwiches like the steak sandwich and the hamburger are not on the evening menu
