I love Ilya so much and every time I'm here, I always end up overspending. Like, did I really need 5 bottles of foundation, prolly not but I wanted it. Let's face it, body wash and all that I can understand is an essential but everything else is non-essential but, I'll still end up spending around 100$ here around every two weeks or so. I love their selection of drugstore makeup and I'll peruse the high end section but it doesn't really interest me. I love that they're introducing more Korean beauty brands and branching out. Been finding a lot of new stuff every time I'm here. Store is pretty clean, items are organized and staff is pretty friendly if somewhat a little snobbish at times. The only thing I wished they did was put of testers for their products. How am I supposed to know what the color really looks like if I can't swatch it? Customers end up opening new products and therefore ends up being discarded and no longer available for purchase. I've missed out on purchasing so many lipsticks because of this. Put out testers and secure them so no one steals them! read more

Horrible customer service. I went in to pick up my order and waited in the order pick up area. A supervisor standing at the front said someone would be with me shortly. No problem. I waited. An employee working at a register made eye contact with me and asked "do you have a pick up"? I said yes and she waved me over to her register. I get to her register and she leaves. Like, leaves out the door to go home. So I waited and no one helped me. Another girl at the register told the girl next to her what happened and laughed. This place is pure chaos during the holidays. I also find myself only going here during that season. It was actually a few days before Thanksgiving, so not quite the holidays yet, but I placed an order online for curbside pickup. Upon arriving, I saw that not only were both parking spots taken (yes, only two parking spots are reserved for curbside pickup here), but both vehicles were empty. If you are parking there just to shop inside, that is not what those spots are there for. So you can imagine that when I looped around the parking lot and saw someone leaving one of the spots only for another person to park there and, you guessed it, got out of the car to go inside ULTA, I was pretty annoyed. Please be considerate. It isn't about having to park over by Best Buy and walking, it's that I should have been able to park there and have someone run my items out to me so I could be on my merry way. I do have to say that the employee I did encounter for in store pickup was very nice and apologetic when I brought it to her attention. She said that there's really nothing they can do about it. Oh, and upon leaving the store I saw the driver of the other car that was parked in one of the curbside parking spaces loading her Walmart groceries into her car. read more

I walked in on a Monday afternoon and immediately got help. I asked for a foundation and a moisturizer for my rosacea, when the person with beautiful lime green hair and I got to work I got a great spf/foundation, moisturizer and waterproof foundation. I had a really nice experience here recently. I stopped wearing a lot of makeup, I keep it pretty minimal. I wanted to try wearing different types of makeup for fun occasionally and when I asked Emily (I believe her name was Emily!) for help she was really nice and approachable. She didn't just show me stuff that was $$$. She really listened to what I was asking and the stuff she recommended didnt break the bank. I tried out one of the items she suggested today and I love it. I really appreciated being helped in a thoughtful way so thank you so much for doing that for me! I came in the day before thanksgiving November 27th in the late afternoon. The store was very busy and every employee was busy helping someone. This employee came up asking if I needed help she was tall, blonde hair and older she told me she had an older daughter that used the eyebrow pencil I was getting. She went above and beyond helping me find the items I need. She even went in the back twice looking for stock that wasn't open yet and out on the sales floor just to get me my item! Then I went to check out and I had Julia who was so kind and friendly we had a nice chat about makeup products. If I could give -0 (- ZERO) to Candy at the salon section of Ulta in Burbank, CA. I would. I had made and appointment with her online through my Ulta account and when I got there she didn't have the courage, respect, dignity, responsibility to say that she had made a mistake. Instead she had her manager try to mediate for her incompetence as a professional hair stylist. Unfortunately I made the mistake to think that she was a professional, it, is far from it. Candy forgot that she represents Ulta, and she failed miserably to treat customers with respect. If she had at least owned up to her responsibility by communicating perhaps things would have been different. But her failure made Ulta not a place that I would recommend. Stay away from Candy, whose picture is also misleading. Go to any other Ulta, but stay away from Ulta in Burbank. read more

Then, she gave me so much attitude when I tried to redeem my birthday reward. I've been here a few times and I do find their staff to be rude and this last time I went was the last time I'll go to the store. I was trying to buy a gift and the last box of a tinted moisturizer had make up on it. I told the sales girl and she told me where to find the tissues and alcohol to go clean it myself. When I told her I was more comfortable with her doing it, she did it with attitude and then handed it to me. I also had bought an extra face wash because there was a free gift. But they ran out of the gift and the manager didn't even say I could come back and get it. She was just dismissive and said I could go to another store. Ulta no longer allows online returns through their website. The new process involves speaking with an off-shore rep in the Philippines (without ability to be transferred to a state-side rep). Unfortunately, both reps I got were VERY difficult to understand. One was nice, and one was not. Sadly, they seemed to have zero training and knowledge of their own return process. Even by off-shore Philippines call center standards this place was remarkably awful. I had to loudly spell out each product name and sku number, then repeat several times. The loud background noises made this especially difficult. The former online returns process was essentially: -sign in on website -choose items to return -print label -take to post office The new, more tedious process is: -call the Philippines -give rep all my personal information -sit on hold -transfer to another rep -spell out each product to return (at least twice) -explain reason for returning -get put on hold again -look out for a label to be emailed -print label -take to post office Going forward, I'm planning to online shop for makeup at Sephora. If I really want one of Ulta's products I'll buy it from Target. I'm giving two stars instead of one because I do like their products. That said, nothing Ulta sells is worth their new return experience. read more

I recently got a haircut from Rachel, and she did her big one! From the moment I walked in, she made me feel welcomed and understood asked what I wanted. Her attention to detail and skill are truly impressive, she said she has over 7 years of experience so that's probably why. The haircut is stylish and fresh, and my hair has grown so much healthier since. I really like this Ulta location because I don't ever face any hassles with parking. This makes it very easy to walk in and walk right out in a flash when you want to pick up products quickly. As for cleanliness of the store, it was very clean and I felt comfortable looking at the products. I saw no spills, smudges, abandoned dirty sponges, or makeup testing on the shelving like some nasty graffiti you find at some Ultas and Sephoras. There are A LOT of employees at this store, specifically for each beauty brand and I really like that because it shows an equal balance of specialty from the MUA's. The employees are very helpful. You will need to most likely approach and ask for help as many of them were either chatting it up with co-workers or doing something. I was approached because I seemed lost and was directed to where I can find the products I was looking for. Then I walked up to Audrey/ Audrie who was so very helpful and knew exactly what foundation to recommend me. She said I was really sweet because normally the people who shop here excuse their recommendations and think they don't know anything which made me feel sorry. She was very conversational, friendly, and willing to help as we tested out a number of shades to find my foundation. A another co-worker joined our chat, Tammy, and was helpful recommending palettes and lip products for my personal use based on my features. read more

I bought an online order and it came yesterday. I went to the store today to just exchange color (Fenty Beauty Balm to be exact). It's not even opened. I just found a color I liked better. The salesperson told me I cannot get it for the price I got online (I used coupon and points), but need to return and get it for the price from the store. She was not nice about it. First, I gave her the shipping slip that came with the order with tracking you can scan on paper form. She told me I had to pull up the order through email. I did not understand when you have paper in front of you. I pulled it through my cell phone and showed it to her. She said you cannot get it for that price. It does not make sense. Then I asked for her name and she said she will not give it to me. Complete rudeness! I left with a sour taste. I called online and spoke with a customer representative. She said that does not make sense. You should be able to just exchange color. She will contact the store to see what happened, and have them call me back. Now I am waiting for the store... I have been coming to this particular store since it opened here. I never had issues and I spend a lot of money at ULTA. They really need to hire people who do not look unhappy at this store. Ahh I'm a little sad to have to write this. This is specifically for the benefit brow bar, however i do have other not so great experiences here. I went to get my brows and upper lip waxed yesterday because I have my best friends wedding coming up. It was my first time at this location but this is the closest Ulta to my home. My prior Benefit waxer over at the lankershim location quit. So here i go praying to the brow gods that this appt goes well. Sigh.... It didn't, the stylist was running late, my appt started 10 mins after the time, which made her late to her next appt too. So it did feel rushed, she pressed on my skin hard for everything, the makeup remover, the wax and the which hazel. While my initial reaction was like yes i love the shape ! Which i still do! I quickly noticed when i go home that the wax burned my skin. And she never asked me if it the wax was hot, to which i would've said it was. Submissive of me to not speak up I suppose. But lesson learned i likely won't be returning for her service. I walked in here yesterday to buy some dry shampoo with color to cover my roots until my hair appointment on Monday. I noticed they had a special-20% off for new customers for any hair service. One of the level 2 stylists Elico was so nice and helpful that I decided to go for it. 1 hour later my hair looked SO MUCH better!! The color was shiny and my NY frizz was gone! Hallelujah!! I like Ulta Beauty Burbank. Many women consider this to be that imperative store. The one they cannot seem to live without... But Ulta doesn't sell feminine monthly hygiene products. And still, Ulta manages to carry a great selection of beauty products for bath, hair everything, nail care, makeup and skincare. Also, fragrances. And there's a hair salon and brow bar on-site. They do carry a bigger selection than any of the department stores, convenience stores or pharmacy/grocery stores. The store can be found nationwide and online with an app. I don't shop there often because the selection is too much, and I cannot deal with making up my mind. And then, I want everything. So I tend to stick to the department store cosmetic counters. Only my department store ran out of a cream I'm currently using. Also, they ran out of my runnerup brand choice and they started selling a bootleg mall cart brand. I turned to the Ulta APP. The app gave me a coupon for $3.50 off my total order of $36... Ulta gave me free shipping too. And a sales girl in the store told me the coupon is reusable everyday like once per day per customer until the expiration date. That is really of them. Ulta has all kinds of female shoppers from cheapskate to frivolous to mass market to luxury to Ulta card users to giftcard shoppers, gift shoppers and every possible niche of beauty lover you could think about... Note not all the employees that work at are beauty school graduates or cosmetologist. So, be prepared to wait if you have questions and the store is packed. Ulta is a store that specializes in all things Beauty. Sometimes, they sell fad diet things or vitamin supplements. I haven't bought any of it, but I could... Someday. read more

Horrible customer service!!! This is my first and last time here. The lady who helped me was very rude, I wish I got her name! I asked her for a simple setting powder and she spoke to me like I was dumb. I was trying to explain to her what I wanted and she was talking to me in such a condescending way. My daughter heard her even speaking to me in that way from the next aisle and my daughter was ready to come and speak up! But she was done already talking to me. I can't with RUDE workers. My review is mostly of the salon more than the store. I've been to many hair salons but this is one I think is a good value for what you pay. I have a few stylists I love but am willing to try a few. Sometimes you get a dud and I've left not super happy but I count that as a rare occurrence and remember to make sure I don't get that person. I love Veronik and Desiree. Both of them have left me beyond happy with my hair when I leave instead of insecure. Today I went in and got Desiree and she suggested a scalp treatment and I said yes for once in my life and I loved it! I have trouble with dry scalp skin and I could feel an improvement right away by touch. Very well stocked store, sometimes they run out but that happens everywhere. Customer service is terrible here. If you need help, be prepared to chase people around the floor and basically beg for service with product - and that's the experience on the "brand" side. I had a handcart with almost $200 of product, and needed help with ONE color match on an Estee Lauder foundation. When I originally asked for help (had to track someone down after waiting by the makeup stand), I was told that somebody would come over to assist. After waiting another 15 minute, nobody ever came! So, I asked one of the employees who was walking around if she knew of anyone who could assist with Estée Lauder. She looked super confused, and then said that there was nobody in the store that could help color match that brand. What(?!!)z. I informed the same person at the register who had told me that she would call for help and she was very apologetic and offered to find somebody else to assist. At this point, I was over it. I would rather not spend my money at a place that doesn't value my business. This is the 2nd time that I have been to this location and both times it was the same terrible customer service on the floor. With SO many options for makeup stores, there will be no more tries from me. I will go to Sephora or the Macy's counter instead. read more
