Thursday Oct. 3rd I visited this location for the 2nd time & I wanted to redeem my coupon but I was having issues finding it since I am a new member. I asked the cashier which her name is Yerlin, she was very rude and said "I don't know what you're talking about" instead of helping me out to find it. I asked her if she can please check in the computer with my phone number and again she gave me attitude and said "you need to show me the bar code" and never offered to help me find it. Some of the girls working at this location are rude. Like extremely rude. And what's even more crazy are the managers seem to allow the behavior. Also every time I go to this location I'm followed in the aisles. I've never gone to a Sephora and been followed. I'm not stupid and I'm sure the workers at ulta aren't either. If every time someone goes into an aisle and all of a sudden an employee comes along and pretends to put something away you're being followed. First off, I'm a Ultaholic and this was my first time booking an appointment with Elica for a root refresh an toner. I must say I'm over the moon. I love her sunny disposition and her expertise is phenomenal. I highly recommend her for root touch ups for gray hair. LOVE.... LOVE ...LOVE the precise application process, the execution, and the expertise from none other than Elica. I'm only bummed so didn't find her sooner. Can't wait to book my next appointment. Giving this visit 5 stars. I was blindly searching the MAC section for a few things, when Audrey came up to help me. Amazing! Saved me from all the wrong color choices. My skin color can be tough to match and everything Audrey suggested was perfect! I spent way more than I planned, but loving everything I bought. I'll start by saying that I have pretty long, really curly hair and I don't really trust anyone coming near my hair without messing it up. But I decided to take a chance and FINALLY got my hair cut after 6 years! Honestly I can't praise them enough. My stylist was Candy. I went in having no clue what I wanted to do with my hair but Candy was patient and helped me figure out my hair goals :) She really listened to what I wanted (once I figured out what that was) and gave me a great cut that kept the length but took off A TON of weight and split ends. First and last time here. Looking for make up and nobody around to help. Unfriendly rude staff. The two stars are for the cashier, sweet young gal. I found one lady, brunette petite long hair, didn't get her name, she helped me for a lil , then she said: I was on my way out so I got to keep going.; not even a , hey , let me get someone else that can help you. Nada. I asked another gal who was checking inventory for a napkin and she was like: we are not supposed to test make up, ok, I understand, Covid, blah, I didn't say what was it for... Review for the salon: I have been coming here to get my hair colored, cut and styled by Alicia L. for over a year now. Every time I come in to see her she does a fantastic job with my thick hair. I came in with damaged hair that had gone through several color changes and she was able to correct the color and safely/slowly give me a balayage without damaging my hair further. It has been a long hair journey but I'm glad I am finally on the way to having the look I desire. I definitely recommend Alicia L for color! read more

The last few times I've been to this store, the majority of employees are rude and useless. Today, I went in to purchase a few things. I recently received a sample of Chanel Bleu, and I liked it, so I was going to grab a small bottle too while I was there. I walked around a bit and couldn't find it on the Chanel shelves, so I was just looking at other perfumes for a minute. Just as I was about to give up, I found where it was on a separate shelf across the way, but I was a little confused because it was the only perfume that didn't have a sample out and it was all locked up. At the same time, a worker was walking by laughing with her co-worker, so I asked if I could ask her about something. She dropped her smile and looked at me like I was bothering her and said, "What do you need?" At the same time, I noticed a little sign on the shelf that said to ask the counter for the perfume, so I pointed at it and asked her why this one was the only one locked up and she made this face like I was stupid or something, which kind of threw me. Apparently, I didn't finish my sentence while pointing at the sign (I was kind of still shocked by her rudeness) and she said, "What? You didn't finish saying anything." I pointed to the sign and asked why this one was all locked up. She rolled her eyes around a bit and opened them wide and shrugged her shoulders like, "Yah??" Then she said, "Let me know if you want to sample it and I can unlock it for you." I asked if it was a perfume people stole often, thinking it weird that this was the only one that was locked up, and again she just made this rude face and dodged the question as if I was asking if she waxed her butt. It was so bizarre. Like, hey, how about a smile and just say, yah, we have to lock it up because people steal it???? Is that so hard??? I don't get it!! Learn the word "personable." I buy perfume maybe once every 5 years, so I don't know a lot about these things. Is this a perfume that someone is going to rob me in the parking lot for??? It's not that much more than the others, so why is it locked up? I was genuinely curious. If there's a problem with people stealing it and running out of the store, maybe I should know that so I walk quickly to my car, jeesh. There was just a smash and grab a few stores down recently, so at this point, I'm getting weird vibes. I also didn't even want to deal with this girl because she was obviously bothered by me asking questions even though I was smiling and in a happy mood, and she said again, "Let me know if you want to sample it and I can unlock it for you." I told her that I was going to just purchase it, so she gets it out and walks away saying, "I'll leave it up at the counter for you." She will definitely NOT win an award for best customer service. While standing in line, I look up the perfume on my phone and it says it's for men, which kind of made me laugh. Then I thought, maybe there are two and I'm getting the wrong one. It sure would've been nice if the lady struck up a conversation about it and maybe I would've learned that. Then, as I am purchasing the other items, I pointed to the perfume behind the checkout and explained that I was going to buy that, but I wasn't sure now if it was for men and maybe I shouldn't and the checker said, "Yah." Mind you, she hadn't said much else at that point. I told her forget it and just paid and left. I'm done with this store. Sephora is right across the way and they have been really nice and helpful the few times I've gone in, so I will just be going there from now on. This store has been my go-to since it opened, but the past couple of years, I am either ignored or treated like garbage every time I go in there. Maybe it's because I'm white. This review is specifically for my experience at the Ulta Salon. Wow! I was pleasantly surprised with the great haircut I got here. I was honestly hesitant going to the salon inside of Ulta versus a "real" salon, but I couldn't be happier with my hair. I made an appointment with Katherine and she was SO communicative and really listened to me. I told her I only wanted half an inch trimmed off and she told me everything she was doing each step of the way and showed me how little she was taking off. It's hard to find hair dressers that actually listen to what you want when it comes to a trim, so I was very appreciative of this. The haircut was also only $40 which is amazing in LA. Plus if it's your first time, you can get 20% off! I will definitely be coming back here to see Katherine for regular trims! read more

I recently came to this location to purchase the cologne. Sadly, everything is locked up because of all the smashing grabs going around inside the store. It seemed very depressing. A lot of things were missing. There was even yellow police tape up on one wall. I will see the young woman, that's pretty tall and has light eyes helped me with opening all the cabinets so I could smell the different colognes and perfumes was very friendly patient and polite. I used to like coming to this location, but after the interaction I had with the cashier, it was less than ideal, she was easily irritated and aggravated because I asked her twice if they had hand sanitizer the first time, I asked her she didn't answer me. She walked away and I didn't know where she was going, but she was getting a gift because it was a promotion if you bought a fragrance. So she brought me some Clorox hand wipes, but I declined because I'm sensitive to that brand and that's when her whole demeanor changed her face got all red. She got an attitude and she started shaking. I asked her if she was OK, if she had a long day and she said no. Because of her shaking, I asked her if her sugar was low and she said that no she's in good health maybe customer service is not the job for her or maybe she was just having a bad day but girl when you're supposed to be the front and the last encounter that a customer has with an employee you need to be on your best behavior. Customer service is not for everyone. After reading through reviews. I can see I'm not alone with noticing rude incompetent staff. This Ulta clearly received the rejects of staff. I will not be surprised if this location will be closed down soon. It's like they hired a bunch of monkeys and put them in clothes and told them to work at Burbank Ulta. read more

Chrissy was kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell she cares about her clients and has excellent customer service skills. She is an absolutely gem. It is my personal opinion that the Burbank store has better customer service in general over the other stores in the area. My hair story is long, but I wanted to leave a review because the hairstylist went above and beyond and stayed with me for about 6-7 hours. I'm sorry for my ridiculous request. I thought I would be told that my hair would have to be bleached / dyed over multiple sessions but the stylist basically said "I gotchu fam" and stayed way, way past the end of her shift to help me out. So half of my hair was virgin dark brown, and the other half had bleach/colors. I wanted purple and I got purple. Pretty simple sounding but it's complicated and hard to do in one session, without damaging the sh*t out of your hair. I've had my hair cut here before and recommend any stylist really- after sitting and watching employees and customers for 7 hours straight all I saw were knowledgable staff and happy customers. Negligence by staff during a pandemic?... Today, there was a woman who was getting her hair bleached at Ulta and was walking around the store with a severe non-dry cough while she waited for her hair to process. She was browsing, walking around, touching everything and coughing presumably also on everything she was coming in contact with. A couple of us customers informed some of the staff about it and the staff completely ignored us while the lady yelled "get over it". The staff could at least enforce social distancing protocol by asking the lady kindly to stay in the designated hair styling section while she waited for her hair to be done. But, I guess they don't care about their own health either... It is disgusting that you allow customers to walk all over your store and cough on everything in the middle of a pandemic. read more

The other comments about the staff being not friendly are true. I came in to exchange a product that was delivered yesterday. The palette was all broken, I just wanted a new one. The woman at the counter was incredibly rude and not helpful at all. She wouldn't even look me in the eye, and just kept repeating "There's nothing we can do, I mean, there's nothing we can do" I get they no longer have the product but a credit or something would be nice. She didn't even ask if there was anything else I needed help with she just walked away muttering to herself. Just awful. I had boycotted Sephora because of their practices and started shopping at Ulta but if their in-store customer service is this awful I don't see why I should keep shopping here. However, ULTA's phone customer service is way more helpful. The person on the line apologized several times, he let me know what he COULD do and sent me a gift certificate. I don't know who the manager here is but they need to re-train their staff or maybe even themselves on how to make sure their staff is helpful or at the very least, friendly and approachable. Was really excited to go in and load up on a bunch of stuff for an upcoming trip to Europe. 1) starting with "shopping bags" - they are disgusting and look like the bottom of everyone's makeup bag. When I asked for one of the white shopping baskets near the register, I was told that they are not for customers. 2) no help at all. I went in probably ready to spend $200+ I had my list of items in my ulta app - despite walking right by me clearly looking lost - they just moved on and continued to ignore me over and over and over - the only person who offered to help was Matt @ the Lancôme station 3) inventory, stacked and on rolling carts and in boxes all over the store - Awful...do I shop off from there or help them unload/breakdown the boxes 4) lack of inventory on several items. I had put in my "favorites" several Pacifica cosmetic items due to my super sensitive skin/allergy prone - apparently they don't carry any in store - just a bunch of perfume roller ball testers that were empty... I came here because it's easy to access and less stuffy then Sephora. At least at Sephora they care & are genuinely interested in helping. This place sucked. Steer clear. read more

I am not one to write reviews but my experience at the store today was absolutely horrible due to a staff member's extreme attitude. I came into the store to color match a product that I ordered online. The product hadn't been delivered yet so since I was near the store, I figured I confirm that I ordered the correct shade. I was looking at samples of the product and noticed that the exact shade I wanted to test out didn't have a sample. There was a staff member near me who was assisting someone else which seemed like was going to take a while. So I politely said excuse me, can I ask you a quick question. She replied politely saying sure. I proceeded to ask if it was possible to make a sample for this product as it didn't have one. She responded by saying that if there is an over flow of products then a sample can be made. I went and looked back at the product and saw that there were multiple bottles available. So as to not interrupt her helping the customer, I said, there's quite a few, did you want me to open one to make it a sample or is this something that you have to do? Again, I am polite the entire time. She then rolls her eyes and proceeds to tell me rudely that this would be a loss prevention issue and it's something that has to be done by them. I am not sure why she felt like she had to tell me that this would be a "loss prevention issue," clearly, I wasn't trying to steel the product. At this point, it felt like she was racially profiling me. I said okay, I'll just put the product here and walked away. About 10 mins later, I come back to that area as it was the area that had the cleaning station. I proceeded to utilize the cleaning station to clean my hands from makeup and that same staff member comes to me and questions why I am back again. She said something along the lines of, you came here then you left now you are back again? At this point, I am baffled by how rude she is. I ask her if there was a problem with me cleaning my hands and called her out for her attitude which she adamantly denied having. I should have requested to speak to her superiors and demanded they show CCTV footage of the interaction due to her denial of her disgusting behavior. This experience was just completely appalling and I hope this company does better with customer service as they are lacking (just look at their reviews)! For this establishment to carry high end products, I would expect better customer service. Moving forward I will be taking my business to Sephora, across the parking lot. read more

VERY bad balayage done by Rachel. It was patchy, the wrong color and no flow. It went from my brown hair straight to a yellow tone. Even with the two sessions Rachel said it would take to get to the color wanted, it still wouldn't change the fact that it is SOOO CHOPPY with color transition AND BAD. You can see the line where the bleach starts and stops. The other ladies working there saw the disaster and didn't want to tell Rachel she had butchered my hair. The manager Candy saw what I wanted and just started gaslighting me, telling me that we all see color different and to explain what I want EXACTLY. I TOLD HER EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED AND I DESCRIBED THE PICTURE AS IF SHE didn't have the picture in front of her. Candy said as well it would take two sessions to get to that color in the third picture, which wasn't the problem any more! It was the product placement. There was no flow and was streaky. Candy pulled Rachel aside and had a long talk with her. I don't know what was said but I'm guessing she probably told her it was definitely not what I had wanted but to not admit to anything. The lady next to me was the only honest woman there and straight up said it looked awful and I needed to tell them. So she confirmed it wasn't just me. Bc Rachael said to me that a new color can be overwhelming...LMAO WHAT?? I truly appreciated the honesty from the other customer. Something the whole salon did not have. Anyone could tell it is a bad job so it was crazy that no one working there would admit it. If you know how to do hair well, then you would know that this was bad so obviously they are not good at their jobs. I was there for 7 hours!!! And kept my cool through the whole thing. 11:45am all the way until the store had closed. I finally left at 7:00pm. I had to be somewhere at 7:00pm and had to cancel. Never did I think it the two events would cross. I was thirsty, hungry, tired, and just wanted to go home so I paid and left with basically the hair I came in with. I left her a tip bc I'm not bad person and Rachel did what she could to fix her mistakes so when I came back the next day after crying myself to sleep that night, the manager asked why I left a tip for her if I didn't like it then. She was working on my hair for 7 HOURS!! I'm surprised I left with hair. What? was I supposed to do just walk out of the store after Rachel spent the whole day working on my hair??? Anyways this is more a courtesy message for the district manger of Ulta. I'm not paying $338 to walk out 7 hours later with the hair I came in with. So you can sort it out with the credit card company bc I did but get what I asked for. read more

Ulta scores again! I neglected to write a review after a great holiday shopping experience last year. My tween was delighted with a makeup kit box. Today we went for shampoo to deal with a hair issue, and a stylist in the salon offered a Redken product to handle it. Also many thanks to the lovely blonde lady in skin care who covered for the hair staffperson to get our question answered. Denny was a star in the makeup department. Working with our budget, he gave recos for tween cosplay foundation and concealer that worked for us. He held them up against my kid's cheek and produced a result that exactly matched her "lighter than my skin tone, to match __ character."
