If i could give this place zero stars I would... the absolute disrespect from the employees is disgusting to say the least. all the workers are just standing on the floor in circles talking with their backs to everyone coming in and out of the store. And than i was shopping minding my own business and this woman decides to take my stuff in my bag which included my water bottle.... she never once asked if she can hold my stuff for me or what she was going to do with my items. so i go and ask if they have my stuff and right off the back she gives me attitude and says " yeah this stuff is staying right here, too much items for you to have out there. i don't trust you with that many items. so it stays here" with no eye contact a rude tone and full of attitude. and i said ummm i need to see what is in my basket so i don't get two. because i need to know what i'm going to purchase and her response is " goes you can see it from there" and i said ummm no i can't it is behind the counter and i want my water bottle and she gets the basket walks up to me with this this smirk on her face and shoves the basket in front of me and than is glaring at me with this rude look puts the basket back in front of me and says here "here" and i said okay i didn't needed your help but thank you " and she's staring at me trying to intimidate me this is not just an employee this is one of the managers mind you and she says to me " excuse me i don't care i never asked if you need help and you're in my way so you need to move now" (mind you her voice and tone is very loud and rude. on top of it i never any interactions with this woman since i came into the store. zero work ethic, profiling people is not okay ever. absolutely disgusted that someone who goes to work looking like they just woke up has the audacity to even profile me in anyway shape or form. I went to Ulta yesterday to find eyeliner pencil and was alarmed by how rude the staff was not only to myself but to other employees. I witnessed one of the workers yell at her coworker to "not use the Lord's name in vain" which was extremely aggressive and hostile. I completely support freedom of religion, but in a workplace setting this made me uncomfortable in addition to how inappropriate this was at Ulta. I also asked the same girl who yelled this to her coworker to help me find eyeliner pencil and she questioned me why I wanted the pencil instead of the screwable eyeliner. I just told her I liked the texture better and she pointed to an area of the store where they might have it and then walked away. I've had way better experiences here before with customer service. But, this one girl in particular should be asked to leave because of her horrendous attitude and lack of professionalism for her job. read more

I used to love this store and the excellent service I would get. Lately though it seems that it's only going downhill. My friend was trying to return some items and the girl assisting us (yellow blonde hair and baby bangs) messed up the return process to the point that my friend now has to contact the supplier directly. We were not rude but simply frustrated that nothing could be done. The manager wasn't on site to assist and the girl helping us ends up taking off on us stating "she can't be here right now" her colleague (long dark hair) then steps in to assist but is very rude and defensive. I would have gotten names but they weren't wearing name tags or at least it wasn't clearly visible. All we wanted to do was understand how to return the items after her colleague messed up. There was no accountability and we left feeling even more frustrated. We felt that the staff could have cared less about us and were more absorbed in each others personal conversations and texting instead of assisting customers. I've worked in retail for 20+ years. I make sure to respect fellow retail employees as I know what it's like to be yelled at and treated poorly by customers. We treated that girl with respect and made sure to keep things polite despite the frustration. To be treated like the bad guys left such a bad taste in my mouth that I felt the need to write this review. I hope management sees this and does something cause as of right now I don't feel like showing my support (customer since they first opened in the mall) any longer when their customer service is severely lacking compared to their competitors. read more

I am writing this review for Cheyenne, the esthetician. My husband and I are here from out of town for a small vacation and I needed some serious TLC for my eyebrows. Cheyenne ...how do you say...SLAYED THE EFF out of my eyebrows. I have had my eyebrows waxed so many times from Ulta (in the Fresno area) and from Benefit and from all other places and I swear I've never had them done better than the way Cheyenne did them. I honestly want to drive 2 1/2 hours here every couple weeks just to have them done by her. She seriously boosted my confidence. Order ahead for pick up is horrible. There is no one to help and they need to be called up front. It would've taken much less time to get the item myself, stand I. Line, and buy it. Also, the location of order ahead for pick up should be at the entrance facing the parking lot. Logistically, people that order ahead are coming from their parked car, not inside the mall. I have debated on leaving this review for several months now, but I believe it's time. Back in March, I came in wanting to get my hair colored two tones & was determined to have it done by the lower level stylist to save money. The woman there (head stylist) convinced me that not only could she be the only one to color my hair, but that we would not be able to do what I wanted. I still agreed for some odd reason (just really wanted to change my hair) & showed up for my appointment, and suddenly she says we *can* do what I originally wanted (what?) So, ok... And also she has some idea for like, "peek-a-boo" high lights, which I really like, but for some reason she decides on a color I absolutely hate, and I didn't think that would be the case. Anyway, the entire time she's working on my hair, she also takes walk-in appointments. I found that extremely unprofessional, & it added so much extra time to my appointment! Very unhappy about that! By the time we rinse everything out, of course, the peek-a-boos look awful & I hate them, & I'm just too exhausted to try another color, so I told her to just fill it in with the same as the rest of my head. I had to wait forever, because of the walk-in client she decided to take on. Mind you, I had a scheduled appointment. After being there for over 5 hrs, I ended up being charged for multi-tone coloring, even though I left with a head full of the same color. Extremely unhappy about that. Also, there were still several areas where dye had not completely taken hold. :( I would give more stars for how nice she was, but I just don't think that would be a fair assessment. To be honest, this was the most expensive dye job I've ever had, and the worst results. Really unfortunate & I would really like them to remedy this somehow. :( It's about time to go in for a touch-up of some sort, but honestly, I'm afraid. read more

One of the workers here asked to help me over five times. I was only in the store for about 20 minutes. I could tell that she was following me to see if I was going to steal because she popped up in five distinctly different areas and kept pestering me. There were so many things that I wanted to buy and look at , but I had to cut my visit short because I was being made to feel very uncomfortable. I only got to buy two items and left. Little did they know, I was prepared to spend a lot of money that day as I had recently gotten a promotion. I am very much into beauty products which is quite apparent by my manicured hands and manicured eyebrows. I'm not sure why it's hard to believe that someone like me uses actual money and buys things in a store like ULTA where most of the stuff is drugstore anyway.It's so frustrating when you can't even shop in peace without being bothered because of the color of your skin. I try to speak with a manager before leaving this terrible review but she has no interest in helping or talking. She just got snappy on the phone. This store is consistently understaffed and underfriendly. One person on the register is the norm. And two for Christmas Eve. One of the cashiers was new and keeps answering the phone while holding the paying customers cc, and talking to the customer about which eyeliner or foundation they want, etc. Ten paying customers in line with two cashiers is just not good customer service on Christmas Eve. No one helped me out or asked if I needed help and when I approached one of the girls she told me what I was looking for was in "the corner over there" .... did not find what I was looking for... i found some stuff and went to check out and in doing so the cashier said I was pre-approved for there credit card and I can get 20% off she said it was a sure thing and had so many Benefits I should do it.. stupidly enough I trusted her and waisted all my time filling out all this stuff to just be denied..... so on top of waisting my time and other people's time in line I did not receive the 20% off and I just checked my credit report and now my credit has dropped as well.. I was so excited that they were opening an Ulta at the Capitola Mall, but sadly, it's a huge let down. I have been a makeup artist for 7 years, and definitely know my products, I had a list of items I needed for my bridal makeup kit and this store was out of every single one. I went in today, Saturday, and when I asked an associate why they seemed to be out of everything, she told me, "well our shipments come In on Thursdays." Hmmm well I'm pretty sure there wasn't a huge stampede of people in the past two days that could have gone through all of there products, there were just giant holes in every display. Secondly, which is the biggest pet peeve of mine, is no one offered to help me. I had to approach a sales associate who was talking to another associate, to help me. I spent 180.00 today in the store, with literally no one asking if I was finding things ok (which I wasn't because everything was out of stock) and when I walked in to Ulta I saw two associates right away, neither of them greeted me. Thirdly, none of the associates had nice makeup on. I'm sorry but when you're selling makeup, don't you need to know how to apply makeup? That was one of the most important aspects of selling makeup when I worked at both Dior and Clinique. It's sad because it has so much potential and I have always loved the other Bay Area Ulta stores, but until you get quality associates (or better training) and learn how to take proper inventory, I don't think I'll be back, and it's a bummer because I drop serious cash in this store! read more

I will definitely never recommend the salon to anybody. I had Samantha, a stylist that sounded so confident in doing what I asked, color my hair. When she did an "ombré" on my hair, she didn't blend the color at all and left me a line of dark roots to orange, fried hair. Needless to say I asked the manager to see me to fix it I did get a free conditioning treatment but was given a snarky attitude while I was there by the manager, Desiree. When a manager can't even fix what her stylist messed up and then suggests that the stylist that botched your hair fix it..you're in a crappy, low end salon. read more

So, I was basically the first person in the store, so the service that I got from a representative was awesome! The only complaint that I have is, the store is SUPER messy. Everything is out of place, in the wrong section, not lined up nicely. It made the place look almost dirty, which is was kind of discouraging. Also, the music was super loud. It's probably because there weren't that many people in the store to drown out the music, but still. I asked the woman if they could turn down the volume and she said that it was something that corporate had control over. So, I understand that it was out of control. I LOVE liquid eyeliner. I discovered Ulta's Precision liquid eyeliner about a year ago, it's cheap, stays on really well, has a felt tip so application is super easy. However, when I stopped into the store yesterday to grab another tube, there were none to be found! The tiny little rounded tube I was used to had been changed to a longer tube, but I was assured it was the same thing, only a different look. The price in front of the display read $5.99, but the eyeliner was ringing up as $9. Instead of simply correcting the price, the girl at the register had to call her manager over. The manager girl told me that I must be mistaken, the eyeliner was $9, not the price it was listed as. There was a huge ordeal over why the price was so cheap...(not my problem). Also, the manager girl was hesitant to believe me even when I pointed out that the eyeliner, display tag, and price tag were all for Ulta's Precision Liquid Eyeliner. After that long, drawn out ordeal over price, she agreed to sell me the eyeliner for the listed price...and also tried to upsell me on a 'buy two get two free' deal. I was over it. I just wanted to get my eyeliner and go! ALSO, the new eyeliner is not the same as what I had been buying. This one doesn't glide on smoothly and the felt tip is already pretty dry, so it's a challenge to get a straight line and sharp point. Bummer!! read more
