I had the most horrible experience at Ulta Fairfield with Lorna C. Her profile says "elite stylist" but I'm unsure how she got that title being that the only hair she can service is someone with straight hair. Her profile also says that she services "curls, coils and waves" this is obviously not the case.  Today April 26 I had an appointment for my 12 year old daughter, Rosalyn for a twist out style. Rosalyn came in with two buns. Ms Lorna was working on an older white lady and when we walked in her attitude changed. She said to me in front of everyone "IS HER HAIR DETANGLED?? HER HAIR NEEDS TO BE COMBED OUT!" I said "yes her hair is detangled it's just in buns." I did detangle her hair before coming in she only had gel left over that needed to be washed out. Ms. Lorna then gave me a brush and dismissed me to comb my daughter's hair. I combed through it again while she finished up on her clients hair, which was very embarrassing. After combing out Rosalyn's hair I told her to go ahead and sit in Ms. Lorna's chair and this time she tells me "I don't think I can detangle this hair because.." and she points at her wrist. She did not even ATTEMPT to comb through her hair she simply said she can not do it. At this point I just said okay and we left with out getting any service done. No apology. No nothing.  Black women and little girls already go through stigma and negative stereotypes about our hair being "difficult" and hard to manage. And usually it by our own race unfortunately. That's why they are always pushing perms because they are just lazy.  I try to shield my child from that as much as possible but today she saw the ugly side. We sat there and watched this lady give this white lady the best customer service and then treat us like crap. My question is this Ms. Lorna, how are you an elite stylist and can not comb through hair?  Needless to say I will never visit Ulta in Fairfield because of the discrimination that my daughter and I experienced today! read more

I love Joseph in the salon! Listened to what I want and executes every look all the time. Very sweet and nice as well which is hard to feel comfortable in the chair for me sometimes because I have so much hair. The workers in the store were nice and helpful as well. read more

Upon arrival, everyone acknowledged us. We were not haggled about products. However, when we needed help, Jazlyn was readily available and willing to help my daughter and I. We were color matched and given a sample. We were highly impressed! Then, a manager assisted us with finding facial products. Again, we felt very welcomed and appreciated. This location drives me crazy. The staff is always changing and my visit yesterday was unbelievable. I knew exactly what I needed and where to find it. Of course it was in the back of the store. By the time I walked back up front there was a line. Ok not problem. There was 2 cashiers and a manager walking around. I waited in line for 25 minutes for one item. The ladies behind me in line were complaining about the line, "why is was not moving, why is there only 2 cashiers" and even more. One lady said, "why won't the manager start ringing customers out? " I have to say, I AGREE! When your line has 10-15 people in it, the manager should definitely jump onto a register and help out. My wait could have been 5 minutes instead of 25. They're the Ulta-mate make up store. I love them like no Ulta. I would never Ulta a bad word about Ulta. I can't imagine that any of the Ulta-rnatives would be as good. Ulta is a really great makeup store which Barbie goes to on a regular basis. They have a lot of really good looking customers (including my girlfriend) and I like coming here for that reason, and because Barbie can get great deals on makeup. We will probably keep coming back here in future, but due to Corona things can be difficult. The Cypress location is excellent, and one of the better ones we've been to. Service is okay (hence the 4 star instead of 5), but selection is huge and there's lots of space in here. If it wasn't for Ulta I don't know what Barbie would do about looking pretty AF because she swears by them and we've probably been to a hundred different locations together. Definitely the best value and overall best makeup store in the country and you'll find them all over the place - in strip malls, big malls, and even standalone sometimes... and they're always worth a visit. I have no Ulta-rior motives when I say Ulta is the greatest make up store in the country. Often with goddesses as employees and beauty queens as customers. Myself included (tosses hair). read more

I am a mid-fifties woman who has been doing her makeup the same way for 30 years. There are so many products that I get overwhelmed and usually end up reach for what I know. So I went to this Ulta for some professional advice, to ask questions, and to get products right for my aging skin. (This is where my mom went for years so I chose this location in honor of her). And I was not disappointed. George personally helped me for at least 20 min or more. Very patiently answering questions about different products and letting me test them. He chose all my colors for me; I'm not gonna lie, I was a little hesitant at the blush and eye shadow he picked for me because they were shades I would have never chosen. But they looked AMAZING! I had a very important meeting the following work day (which is why I decided to update my look). I felt so confident and beautiful walking in that meeting. I can't thank George enough. And I received several compliments like "Something is different, I can't put my finger on it, but you look great." And, George swore to me my makeup wouldn't sweat off and I wouldn't look oily as long as I used certain products together. I was shocked - he was 100% right! I had at least 3 hot flashes throughout the day and I still looked just the same as at 8am (with just a touch of powder). George, I'll come back to see you soon! DONT get your haircut here. I posted pictures of what I asked for vs. what I got. First, my appointment ran 30 minutes late. Which I was under the impression that it was a difficult client before me, which I can understand, but I almost cancelled then and I'm mad I didn't. There were a few red flags during the cut but didn't realize it until now that I know my lady couldn't cut hair. We didn't spend a lot of time discussing what I wanted, just showed the pictures. I assumed the stylist knew what she was doing so that was my bad. The hair wash actually hurt and I don't have a sensitive head. But that's whatever, not something that would make me write a bad review or not go back. Another stylist came in with her client and was asking my stylist how to cut this clients hair (she had a special kind of hair type)....IN FRONT OF THE CLIENT....like, what even? Maybe it was understood that this lady was learning, I hope the client was told that before anyways, my appointment was at 4:30, didn't start till 5 and I didn't leave till 7!!!! My hair is so uneven. Doesn't swoop at all. The front sides aren't the same length and she never checked. The layers are bad (can't tell from the picture)....I'm so annoyed I wasted money. I called the manager and she scheduled me with an "elite" stylist to fix it but I canceled it and am paying for someone else to fix it. I don't have trust that it won't be messed up again I didn't realize they had levels of stylists but it's not shown on the website. I would have never picked anything higher than the highest stylist level. Thank God she didn't cut it as short as I asked so that there is room to get it fixed..... As my friend called this haircut - save yourself from a "bad mall haircut" Oh and the reason I didn't have her fix it on the spot was she put curls in it and I couldn't tell until the next day when I fixed it. read more

Came to Fairfield ulta a couple months ago and mananager had another employee follow me around the store I knew I was being followed because I did the one isle forward 3 back to see what the employee would do and she was there every time I looked up. Came in yesturday 8/24/21 around 6pm and the same manager was there and her can I help you's and what are you looking for's didn't seem genuine but more of a way to watch me. Yet other customers of different melanin levels were not being helped to the same level I was. I've never been made to feel this way any other time it's unacceptable. read more

I had a great experience at this location. The employees were super nice & helpful. Everything in the store was clean and organized. I came to grab some products from the Beauty Bakery line. I got some setting spray, setting powder, and concealer. I really like how they had the testers set up; was there for a good 30 minutes just trying different colors. The staff on the floor were nice and asked if I needed any help. I don't like the layout of this location. Some brands of makeup are on one side of the store and others are in another area. Morgan was AMAZING! My sister and I are not very familiar with makeup and both needed help finding the right products for each of us. She helped my sister apply testers and guide her to the right products. She also helped me apply and choose a lip combo that went well with my skin tone. She was very knowledgeable. Daughter had a brow waxing appointment set for several days ahead, and we received all of the text messages each day as an appointment reminder. We drive 30 minutes from our house to the appointment and we are informed that the only girl who can do them called in for the day. I wish the appointment had been canceled or I had been notified so I would not have wasted an hour round-trip. read more

I've had more negative customer service experiences here than good. My latest issue is that I placed an order online for pick up and when I went to pick it up it said curbside was unavailable. Inconvenient only because I ran out to pick up a grocery order in my house slippers and decided to swing by there also but no big deal, I just parked and went in. There was a lady in front of me attempting to pick up and order and the lady helping her (which she said she was the manager) asked if she had gotten an pick up email letting her know it was ready. Well turns out she didn't because she had just placed it less than an hour ago she said. The manager said she would go shop for all of her items, which is great customer service for that customer but it's just rude to leave a line of customers waiting to pick up orders who actually waited until they were notified their order was ready while you shop for an unprepared customer. Maybe next time ask the customer to wait a just a few moments and help the rest of us who actually follow directions. read more

I've visited this business twice now and each visit I was rude employees. Just to buy one item they demanded to know my phone number and email. When I declined to give this information, they informed me I would be unable to return my purchase without them having it. I thought to myself how weird and unlikely so I continued with my purchase and went on my way. As luck would have it I did need to return the item a week later. I was met with strange looks and much confusion. Again they were confused and annoyed that I hadn't divulged my private information for the sake of a purchase. It took several people and multiple attempts just to do a simple return all because they were never taught how to without emails and phone numbers. This is ridiculous I will never give stores this information just so they can send me endless adds. read more

I tried to explain this to the employee and that I'm not required by law to wear one . She said my health condition didn't matter and that I needed to put one on. Definitely wasn't going to forget to leave a review for Joseph. He did an awesome job on my hair. He was caring and thoughtful when he was doing my hair. Showing care to my needs and making sure I was comfortable as much as possible. From the washing to the blow drying and straighten he was gentle. I felt so relaxed and at ease. Great conversation as well. I am for sure coming back to him. I received a keratin treatment. Its been 3 days and hair still looking flawless. Also the managers Kim and Amber were awesome as well and I don't remember the new lady name in the front but they were very welcoming. Amber was very helpful, nice patient, and resourceful with helping me find the right makeup to cover up my tattoos. She found the color and brand for me. It was a perfect match. This is my favorite location/store of all of the Ultas I've been to in many many years of shopping for cosmetics. It's nice and clean and very organized. I'll stop here for something newly released, and if they don't have it, I order it on line. They are pretty well stocked at the actual product, but don't be afraid to ask an associate to check in the back! Being a make up lover, this is my best shot of finding exclusives fast due to the location. I've not had one issue with any associates and when the line is long, they get back up pretty quick at the registers. This location has be benefit brow bar, a salon/spa. Great place to buy make up, horrible place for a hair cut. I showed the stylist a picture and got blunt bangs instead of a subtle wispy bang look. Instead of 3 inches I had 6 inches cut for my hair. Joseph, my hair savior. Holy crap. Had a consultation with Joseph this morning, I explained my concerns with my hair, what I really wanted out of it, and he gave me a full run down and plan of everything he suggested. Was able to fit me in 2 hours later. I came, sat down, he again, explained everything he suggests for my hair. Every step of the way, showed me all products, gave me color numbers, everything. I got a gloss, 3 different colors I believe, a cut, and an Olaplex treatment. My hair has never felt better, my curls have never been taken care of by ANY stylist the way Joseph took care of them. He took an extra 45 minutes after the cut and color to style and diffuse my curls. They look literally amazing. No more uneven color, no more stringy ends. Just super shiny, super gorgeous hair. Go see Joseph if you want someone who pays attention to detail, knows their stuff, and wants you to feel amazing about how you look. Cannot wait to get my hair done by him again. read more

Like the products..however, when i recently took my granddaughter for a brow appt., the lady was very rude to me. Didnt want me to watch as she said my gum chewing got in her ear! I wanted to stay to make sure it was done as she wanted, but wandered around instead. I worked in salons giving customer service for years, and would never be so rude to someone! Its not like i was a smacking loud mouthed kid, and even if i would, i know you do not treat people that way. Its called customer service! Would post her name but wasnt on the rect. This is my favorite Ulta location in the NW Houston area! Kiara and Daphne are awesome and super helpful!! And this location seems brighter and cleaner than most others and always well stocked with tissues and makeup applicators and testers of course! This Ulta was so weird. A few days before I came to this one, I'd been at another Ulta location and fell in love with this lipstick by Anastasia. I chickened out of buying it that day because I'd already spent too much. Flash forward a few days later and I couldn't get it out of my head! So when I found myself between business meetings on this side of town, I decided to pop in and get the lipstick I couldn't get out of my head! This was my first time at THIS location specifically. As soon as I walked in, the young woman standing by the door asked me if I needed help with anything and I asked if she could direct me to Anastasia. She made a face and said she had a better recommendation. She showed me Mac lipsticks instead. She had one of the artists put it on me. It was nice but not what I had in mind so I asked if they could show me to Anastasia for the third time. She finally did so but it was as if she was trying to talk me out of it. It was the weirdest thing. I found a few of the other employees to be odd as well. I need a foundation powder and one of the girls matched me to the wrong shade. I let her know I felt this was the wrong shade and she said Id feel different about it once I saw it in different lighting and that it matched my undertones. Wrong! It was way too dark, just as I suspected, I ended up having to bring that item back afterwards. Then I had to go to the restroom and asked where it was. The woman in the hair salon area had an attitude when she gave me directions. Long story short, I ended up purchasing the lipstick and LOVE it but will not be returning back to THIS specific location. I don't expect employees to be peppy but I don't expect them to be funky little weirdos either. This was one of the oddest shopping experiences ever. read more

Hi. I went to Ulta in Fairfeld and it was disappointing. I wanted my hair colored but nothing was done. I wanted pink highlights I feel Patty really didn't want to color my hair today. She explained that the color would not last and that pink color/light colors only last a week to two weeks. I appreciate the information but still walked out with no color on my hair. This information would have been appreciate more so if I was told when I called since I did speak to her on the phone a two weeks ago. My appointment was at 10am I woke up for nothing just to be told NO. She said she could do dark highlights that it takes better but I did not want that I wanted pink. I was trying to explain to her what I want and all she said to tell me was it's not going last. I appreciate her trying to save me money but I was under the impression that I was getting permanent color and I think It was not since how does pink only last a week to two weeks. I know it fades just like red color does but really only a week to two weeks "crazy". read more
