I went in on a whim to see of I could get my hair colored on a Friday night and they squeezed me in with a stylist who turned out to be so great! I wanted to go from a dark brown to a more dirty blonde at the request of my husband. I was 18 weeks pregnant so I didn't want to color my hair myself, not knowing how it could turn out, and going for a pretty drastic change. Christian did such a great job! I told her what I wanted to try and do, and she gave me a great suggestion of using highlights and then accent highlights to lighten my hair gradually. Turned out so wonderful. read more

No offense to the other stylists, but in my experience, nobody does the job Chrissy does. I come to this location often and was there last week excited to get my eyebrows waxed and buy a new foundation. I had just missed the 'eyebrow artist'. Don't they know I want what I want, and I want it NOW! JK. I told the girl I'd come back the next day, but instead went to the Nail Focus down the street (review to follow?). So I moved on to the makeup experts, which the girl was not. She couldn't tell me anything about anything. Good thing I let my intuition guide me and am happy with my choice (Smashbox High Definition). I'll be back to use my reward points, if I can figure that system out. Why won't they just send me a five or ten dollar gift card like DSW does? Instead I have to pick some crappy item and have no idea how to keep up with what I am eligible for, when or if they expire and what items I can choose. Boo for Ulta rewards system! Service was great. The assistant manager helped me with my hair crisis. I had a really BAD hair dye and even though it took over 4 hours to fix the coloring on my hair, she was patient and worked diligently. I've been getting a lot of compliments on my new hair color, so thanks Ulta. read more

Pros -large, open, lots of floor space, well stocked shelves, online coupons (typically $3.50 off $10 or sometimes 20% off, etc,) - random good finds marked down in clearance Cons -difficult to find sales people working the floor -seems as if those working the sales floor aren't knowledgeable about products or current sales in the ad -cashier once seemed irritated that I had some manufacturers coupons AND an ultra coupon to use in my transaction. (Who doesn't like to save a bit?!?!) This can happen at any store but it's so disgusting that people open products, try them, and outback on the shelf. So, always double check whatever you are purchasing to make sure it hasn't been used already!! It's always busy on the weekend but the checkout lines go fairly fast just don't search for a sales person to be working the floor! read more

I am a fan of Ulta but this is one of my least favorite locations. I wish the customer service was better b/c it's so close to my office but alas it's just piss poor. It's hard to find help and when you do they are not helpful. God forbid if you go to the high - end side and ask for help for a mass market item. They will admit they know nothing about and don't even try to help. End of conversation. When I ask who I can ask for help, they tell me to go to the ladies at the cash register....but they are busy with a line and you are just standing there! Or if I ask where something is they then ask me is it usually right here?....um, you 'work' here. I am asking for YOUR help. And I gave the salon a few chance but it wasn't a good experience either. I always went to Ulta's Salon for makeup services, but never for my hair till my mom recommended me the sweetheart Simaria! It's been over three years and my mom and I still go to her, as well as my dad! Not only is she phenomenal in hair, she's also amazing at makeup!! I am so disappointed with this salon, they're always canceling appointments, they don't offer a solution and then they want to reschedule 2 weeks out. They do things to your hair that you don't ask for (Hair dresser Betsy) and then charge you $65 to trim your ends and $85 for an all over hair color that stains all your clothes over the next 2 weeks. I had my hair done twice by Sarah at this location. I had asked to get my red-dyed ombré hair to a silver ombré. I paid approximately $200 for each appointment and in the end, my hair stayed silver for only one week. I didn't know much about hair care at the time, and she didn't give me any knowledge on how to maintain my silver hair when I asked her. Instead, she told me I would have to come in every 1-2 weeks to maintain my hair. The prices are outrageous and she continuously doesn't finish the job for you, so you have to keep coming back. I cancelled my appointment after I realized I was being overcharged and not getting the help or results I wanted. I would not recommend getting hair service from Sarah at the Ulta Salon. read more

Chrissy James is amazing! She has taken me from my natural black hair to light brown/blonde and back to chocolate brown. She is versatile and a color expert. I trust her with my long hair 100% to go in any direction I want to go. Ive seen her four times now and will keep coming back. In fact, I live in The Colony and have an Ulta three minutes from my house but I drive to Las Colinas just for her expertise and care with my hair. She is also super flexible and fits me in last minute at times because of my crazy schedule. I highly, highly, highly recommend her!!! read more

I came here to get my hair dyed from Simoria this week. When trying to explain what I wanted, she seemed to have a bit of an attitude and told me she couldn't do what I wanted in one sitting. When I said that I've gotten it before and tried to find a pic of my old hair she cut me off and said "okay, I believe you" a bit rudely. So I let her explain what she was going to do etc and she came back with a quote that was WAY higher than what I was originally estimated. I said it was out of my budget and since I felt bad i had made an appointment and wasted time, I decided I would just get a haircut. Before I could finish saying that she said "OK you're going to go over here and have her cut it." I just didn't feel like she was very polite and ruined my whole experience. I purchased my titanium flat iron here and I kid you not I have had that bad boy for over 5 years and it still heats up strong and gets my hair lookin right! If you catch Ulta on a good day you can get someone to do a smokey eye for you if you are going out that night. That's right, for free! Their prices are pretty much retail but occasionally I'll score a good deal there. Overall their quality of products and selection is always top notch. I've used their salon service ... only problem I have with the salon, although it's in the back of the store it's open to anyone who walks by. The relationship between the client and the stylist is a personal relationship not to be shared with customers walking by. Other than that, I'm a fan of Ulta. I'm like to stop in and browse. I checked out the reviews on YELP before going in but was still skeptical of a "walk-in" salon. Just like anything else, u never know what u may find, so keep an open mind. Thank you to those who reviewed recently because that's what got me in there. And a big thank you to Ashley Smith-Linder who did an awesome job with my hair. I was concerned at first. I asked for two stylists mentioned here on YELP and neither of them were there. Then I asked who is skilled at working with curly hair. Well I got "everyone here is". I almost walked out. But I needed a trim at least so luckily Ashley's client didn't show and she took me right away and wowed me. She listened, gave suggestions, and we had a respectful back-and-forth about my hair. Only reason I'm giving a 4 out of 5 stars is that they run low on stock and the stations where you pick up cotton balls, q-tips and make-up remover should be kept more clean. Pleased with my hair, disappointed in my experience. My regular stylist wasn't available, so I booked an appointment with Chrissy. Overall, she was polite and my hair turned out great- but she was also very careless. She was rough on my hair when handling it- especially during shampooing/application of toner. She squirted toner in my eye, rubbed the sides of my face forcefully (cheek to temples) with a towel without asking (thereby wiping off entire sections of my makeup), and wet my neck so much during shampooing that a significant part of the back of my shirt ended up soaked. Continued to be rough while blow drying my hair. My hair turned out nice, yes, but I will definitely be sticking to my regular stylist who treats me with care. This Ulta was very difficult. And the customer service was trash. In this time that we are going through we have to wear masks therefore a lot of people cannot hear with a mask on. So I was talking to the girl at the front I could not hear her because she has a mask on. I thought she would be understanding you know? They still said no. honestly I think that's outrageous and dumb and inconsiderate. I booked my appointment at the Ulta Salon in Irving Las Colinas, when I showed up they told me there was some confusion with my appointment, they make me wait for 10min just to tell me the stylist I was booked with didn't show up and that I should had received a call about the cancellation, well they didn't call or text. I asked kindly (I didn't want to be a Karen) to reschedule someday before Friday, I really-really need a haircut, they told me they were booked solid, then she offered 20% off of services that they can't provide. There is something about that particular store that stylist won't last, from one haircut to the next there is always new stylist because the previous had left. Yes, this guy is leaving a review for Ulta. I sometimes find myself here when my wife has the keys while we're out. They have basically every cosmetic or beauty product so you don't have to shop all over town. They also have a salon. The people are nice and knowledgeable . Sometimes the lines are long though. They occasionally have very good deals and specials so you have to pay attention to the ads/mailers and also the signage in the store. I haven't used the salon, so I can't comment on it, but it seems to be pretty full service. read more

Usually I love going to Ulta. I've been to 100 of them. This one sucks!!! It's so messy and unorganized and they're always out of the make up I need. The only reason I shop here is because they have the stuff I need for my hair. If they didn't have that, I'd never even walk in this store. The employees are rude, as well. Do yourself a favor and walk down to the Target by them if you need normal make up. It's cleaner and way more organized and 99% of the time everything is stocked. read more

I purchased a Chi flat iron several months ago and have used it less than 20 times. This morning it popped when I plugged it in. I put it in its original box and went to the Ulta store to exchange for the exact same product. Which by the way is $160.00. Sine I had no receipt and it's pass the 60 day return they offered me 2.00 to go toward my "exchange". Yes, you read that right! 2.00 for a defective product they sold toward an exchange for the same product. They gave me a number to call customer care in which I did. Ulta is known for having a range of beauty products. They have well- organized sections for haircare products, hair styling products/ equipment, cosmetics, body care, hair salon. They have different sections for high- end brands as well. So you can either look for super expensive products or head straight to the section where they sell less expensive, drugstore type products. They are very helpful if you are looking for something. I was specifically looking for vitamin E capsules or oil. I wasn't sure what I wanted. The lady who worked there, took me to different sections to help me find what I was looking for. She also suggested couple of products. Very genuine! She did not try to sell me her expensive products. I was looking for a foundation/ concealer as well. But they were out of fresh stalk. What I don't like about stores like ULTA is that all there products have been opened and tested. It might be better to just keep some testers in that case. I went to this Ulta salon a few times. The first stylist I had was Brian. He did a great job on my hair, but our schedules didn't mesh. I started seeing another stylist. The first few times she did a decent job, but after that, things went downhill. It always struck me as odd that she could never remember how she had cut my hair previously; I've had quite a few stylists, and they all remembered quite well, even after one cut. I would always have to tell her everything specifically, and she would always make me style it myself at the end. Isn't part of the appointment to have it styled for you? At one appointment, she cut my hair unevenly, and when it was styled, I couldn't tell. The next time I washed it, it was very obvious. She did get me in to fix it the next day, but had a little bit of an attitude about it. The next appointment was the last straw for me-I had the first appointment of the day and she came in 30 minutes late. I got the impression from her coworkers that this was a normal occurrence. I had been waffling about finding another stylist but this did it for me. I'm now going to another salon in the area that only charges $3 more for the haircut, and provides a much nicer overall experience. As far as the store itself? This is one of the least nice in the area. The products are arranged by type, not by brand, which I don't personally like. Products are very often out of stock or messy. I much prefer the other stores in the area, like Southlake or Coppell. If you just feel like browsing, it's worth your time to drive to another store. read more
