Comparison of Ulta to Sephora: Ulta- The best thing about Ulta is their rewards program and frequent coupons and promotions. This is why a lot of the time I end up here. Another good thing about Ulta is that it has both drugstore and high end products. Sephora- I love the glamour and style of Sephora. They also tend to carry more high end brands and products than Ulta stores. Also, sometimes I just need to test a product, and Sephora makes me samples. Ulta doesn't. read more

This review is based on shopping experience. I'm a big Sephora shopper but ever since I moved to Las Colinas, I would have to make the drive so I decided to check this Ulta out since it's close by. Upon walking in, I got greeted. The reviews are true, where no one asks you if you need help so I had to go find someone to ask where something was. They had everything in stock for all the stuff I went in for. However, it's also true about what they say regarding the lines. There was only 1 person checking out customers - it was a line of about 5-7 customers. The reason for 3 stars is because it was an average experience. My hair got messed up bad by Nathalie! I don't even trust anyone to fix this mess. These people are noobs. I talked to several licensed hair stylists- they all were scratching their heads wondering what her deal was with my hair. I already messaged corporate. My hair is so damaged. My hair is as beautiful, long, and strong. Now... I'm picking up the pieces on trying to bring life back to it again. I don't even want anyone there to touch my hair. I never wanna see another Redken bottle again. I wanted to renew my vows this year... I wanted to walk down the aisle with a nice even color. I have interviews and work to go to.. I have photos that are going to be taken soon. My hair is absolute bloody mess. This isn't the worst of it- she tried to curl my hair while it was still damp and failed to use a heat protectant. This is so embarrassing and lazy. I talked to a cosmetologist, and she said this should not have been a difficult job to get me to a light or medium Ashe brown....... here I am trying to save my hair... and I have a consult with someone else to do a correction. My hair was cut my becca and it's the best money i've spent in a really long time! I was a seasonal employee at ulta beauty and got my haircut discounted which was 100% worth the full price regardless! Becca literally was my friend for the full four hours she did my hair, she gave me job advice and just generally gave me a really really nice memorable experience, whatever she's doing she's doing it right! This is probably the first experience i've had where i've understood where people are coming from when they wish they could tip people 100 dollar bills. The cut itself was beautiful, I came in with hesitation because i've always gotten my hair cut at specific style salons because of how curly my hair is but she made it look easy! the highlights complimented my hair very well and they were placed beautifully! I shop many places for my makeup needs & addiction. This location isn't far from my home but I never go in much. My visit was uneventful & relatively short. I found about half of what I was looking for but only due to personal error. The staff was nice at the registers but throughout the store there weren't too many of them around. For me it was a good thing because as a working makeup artist with 10+ years experience I don't need anyone telling me about the latest trends every second (every 5 minutes its acceptable lol). I had a malfunction while paying for my goods. I hate placing money on the counter because its impersonal but at the time I visited I had to. I absolutely hate this Ulta. The employees here are rarely helpful. There are 2 employees that are always standing and talking to each other in the premium makeup brand section. They will act like customers aren't there. It's the same 2 every time I visit earlier in the day. A lot of the makeup on the cheaper side is disorganized and out of stock. Don't bother asking for assistance. You are greeted with attitude in return. This store is the closest to where I live but I avoid it when I can. read more

This review is only based on their salon services. I had a subpar experience going in for a haircut at Ulta for the first time. Because I tend to give places second chances, I went in again a few weeks later for a blowout and makeup. Same story. I thought they could redeem themselves on their salon services, but they just didn't cut it. Haha, no pun intended! Please note, it was my very first time using Ulta to get a haircut. When I made my first call, I asked for a quoted price for their most basic cut. "It starts at $37." Okay, so, because I "made an ass out of you and me" AKA "assume", I thought that my haircut was going to be $37 without additional requests. Boy, was I wrong! my cost upon check out was close to $50 dollars (I forget). I don't mind paying because I'm not cheap. I was randomly assigned to a more experienced hairdresser - that's why it was more expensive. I was simply upset at the principle of it all. I didn't request a more experienced hairdresser. They provided me more than I asked, and had me pay for it. I just needed a damn haircut. That's it. The makeup was really bad. I could've done a better job myself. I took some unenthusiastic selfies to remind me of what bad makeup application really looks like. Not sure if I'm even going to post it here because I looked really ugly - don't want to terrify the world on how ugly I could potentially be. I looked like a 7-year-old clown who applied makeup for the first time. Oh, well. I spent nearly $100 on my lousy services and dragged myself to the party I hesitated on attending. By the way, I'm not sure if this is their subtle way of getting you to tip more (if you have a heart): After the cashier swipes your card, she always asks you IN FRONT of the person who serviced you, how much you want to tip. I think that person just unobtrusively stays in the vicinity of speaking distance, so you would be reluctant to say a low number. Whatever, it worked. I WILL tip regardless, but sub-par services should be fated with a sub-par tip. They all just like to play guilty conscience on people. I think tipping should be done on paper, not out loud. Called to ask if they had a hot Christmas item in stock and they said they had one. I asked if they could hold it for an hour - long enough for me to drive there. The associate, who understands good customer service, said yes but the manager interrupted her and said because it's in such high demand, they can't hold it. First, high demand is the only time you would need to hold something for someone. Second, especially because it's in such high demand, it would cost you nothing if you held it for an hour and I ended up not showing up. Promote the girl who answered the phone to manager. Needless to say, after a 40 minute drive, the last one in the entire city and internet was gone. Would give more stars but they're in high demand right now. read more

I just moved from San Antonio and I was holding for a long time to have a haircut... Finally I decided to give a shot and try this salon, I got the "master designer " Monica, I told her that I wanted to remove the damaged tips and to give some shape to my 8-months-without-service hair.. She never talked... Not even a little bit... I asked her if she thought I will require more to be cut so I can have some more shape in my hair, she just said: "I'm just cutting the uneven parts, that will help to give shape... I told her about my fringe and asked if she could fixed it... She didn't reply, by the time she finished "cutting " literally the tips of my hair (she didn't do anything else really, no shaping, no nothing) she started the blow drying!!! I was shocked like "is that it??? For 52$ is that it??? Then at the end she just make sure my fringe let me see, she cut a little bit more of it so I can see through it and call it a job well done... I'm sorry, but she didn't shape it, is all flat and not with volume or anything... My fringe is just shorter... But still out of shape... Well, I think I have nothing else but to keep looking... I loved this store when I first moved to Texas but their service has really suffered over the years. I went to have my eyebrows shaped on a Saturday and they didn't have anyone scheduled. How can you not have staff on the busiest shopping day of the week? My daughter uses the Ulta exclusive CK One products and took a friend over to purchase products. The staff gave substandard help, walked away and started helping others and never gave her recommendations based on her skin. Of course, they were both frustrated and complained I was not there to help them get service! I guess they must of thought they were wasting their time and looked liked teens. I loooove ulta. It's so convenient and quick. I've literally been to every location in the Dallas area and honestly this location is the worst. The ladies who work here are so snotty and rude. No one offered to help. They just walk around staring at you or ignore you. I was in a few days ago and there wAs a like 5-7 people deep. Three ladies behind the register just laughing and making eye contact with customers. Only one lady was checking people out. I felt real bad for her. Also wish they restocked more often because their displays are always picked over. I go to this one because I live across the street, but drive a little further the one in south lake(there's a Mac counter at that one) or the one off 121 in Lewisville. I was new to the Ulta salon and was looking for a new stylist that would listen to my hair needs and make me look awesome. About 2 months before coming in, I had cut some bangs on me. What I had actually done was butcher my hair so badly I wore it up and pinned those "bangs" back for that time period. I found some good reviews for Simaria online and I made an appointment. I'm VERY glad I did because she listened to what I wanted, and what type of hair I have, and she gave me the best cut I've EVER had!!! On thanksgiving, my entire family kept complementing my hair. And just to let y'all know, I have really curly, thick, frizzy hair that can be somewhat unruly and I prefer to wear it straight. A lot of people can't cut and style my hair very well and she did an excellent job. I went in on a whim to see of I could get my hair colored on a Friday night and they squeezed me in with a stylist who turned out to be so great! I wanted to go from a dark brown to a more dirty blonde at the request of my husband. I was 18 weeks pregnant so I didn't want to color my hair myself, not knowing how it could turn out, and going for a pretty drastic change. Christian did such a great job! I told her what I wanted to try and do, and she gave me a great suggestion of using highlights and then accent highlights to lighten my hair gradually. Turned out so wonderful. read more
