Been to this location a few times as a back up place due to convenience and every single time there was something a little off with their staff. Today was the last straw. I'm done. Lost my business and heading straight to Sephora from now on. Overall, limited items in the store. One of the clerks was super rude - while I was in line she was telling us to maintain 6 feet distance between us with her mask so low it was almost under her chin. I was in line for 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes. Customers were obviously upset and getting impatient so you think that they would either open another register or try to expedite the check out process some way. No, didn't happen. Someone that appeared to be a manager just kept on checking in with the people in the line and said, "oh you're still at this same place in the line" and not telling us sorry about the wait or giving us an update on why the line was not moving. Now towards the front of the line we discover the hold up. The cashier Renee was trying to convince customers to sign up for offers and discounts while people were checking out. All this while the check out line was building. So selfish. She spent 5 minutes with one customer trying to sell more product while the line was building up and barely moving. Unbelievable. Y'all need to get rid of her and hire people with brains. read more

Pasadena Ulta. Ashley at the benefit bar is wonderful. Helphul and willing to go out of her to help a customer. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the salon. I have been to other Ulta salons and have always had wonderful experiences. However, when I went to the Pasadena salon the treatment was horrendous. 1) Made to wait 30 plus minutes past my appointment time. 2) Snapped at by other salon employee. 3) Was left long after drying time with product in my hair. Causing damage to my hair. I did inform tech that timer had gone off and was snapped at "That's fine, I know you're there". 4) When I complained to supervisory staff. No attempt was made to correct situation. Unfortunately, Ashley needs to find a better more professional setting to work. Climb out of that pit girl. read more

She works with my schedule, she doe a fantastic cut and color, recommended the deep conditioning treatment after which has been life changing AND she remembers my little dogs name!! I went to Ulta looking for a new foundation, I already had two brands in mind and just needed a color match! I waited and looked around the store for 15 mins with not one employee even offering to help! All of the employees had that "please don't ask me for help" look on their face. My sister got sick of us waiting around so she proceeding to the cashiers and asked if someone could help us. We waited again for another 15 mins before an employee was able to assist us. Once the employee came I told her what two brands I was interested in and told her that I just needed to be matched! She then referred me to another product and told me that I couldn't be matched because they didn't offer testers! I'm not sure if she was scared to match me or just didn't feel like it! The store wasn't busy at all and all the cashiers were conversing with each other, so maybe she didn't want to miss the gossip session! I am extremely disappointed in this store! I usually go to Sephora and never had any problems, but unfortunately the makeup brand is only sold here! I left the store extremely frustrated and to top it off my 9 yr old daughter was there to witness this foolishness! I will not be back to this location!!!! read more

Long story short I went in to buy a tinted moisturizer. Ive never had one and came here so someone could help steer me in the right direction. I do own brands like Urban Decay, Kat Von D etc but I mostly use drugstore brands which is why I liked Ulta. I could get both if I wanted. The woman I found to ask for assistance didn't look up from putting on her lipstick and when I told her I wanted to find an affordable tinted moisturizer asked "Have you ever been to an Ulta??" But not in a welcoming way, in a "girl good luck with that" kind of way. Which completely threw me off. I come every couple months and I even have the useless rewards card. She showed me a small bottle and told me the price and said that was what I'd be looking at and I said it was more than I wanted to spend for the size. She told me I'd have better luck on the other side where the drugstore brands were and when I asked if she could help me and she said no it wasn't her area of expertise. Fine but she didn't even offer to find someone to help me and I felt completely judged. I don't know what her intent was but I definitely perceived it as I was not worth the time because I wasn't going to spend money on the higher end make up ‍ so I just walked out. I like going to this Ulta because I live in Pasadena so it's nice to have in the neighborhood especially since there's not many Ulta's nearby. However, I've never purchased any of their prestige makeup products because they're never in stock! The first time I was trying to buy Becca highlight which they didn't my have a particular shade in stock for weeks until i finally decided to just buy it from Sephora. The second time was recently when I went to exchange an Anastasia Brow Wiz that I bought during the 21 days of beauty sale because it wasn't the right shade. I actually bought the brow wiz from the Burbank location but I tried to return it to Pasadena where they told me they still didn't have any in stock since the sale which was exactly a WEEK AGO. A man told me that they wouldn't get a shipment in till the next friday! So they weren't going to have brow wiz's in stock for 2 WHOLE WEEKS??? I found that ridiculous and ended up going back to Burbank to exchange it where they had every shade in stock. TLDR: This ulta never has what I want in stock so I'll stick to buying prestige brands from Sephora and go here for drugstore products. read more

I came in to pick up something quick and she helped guide me. I definitely like seeking her out, if she doesn't know how to answer a question she still tries to help me out. It's been more than a year after my first glowing review and I'm still going back to Lisa for color glazes! Came in yesterday for my usual. There was a small mixup with the color formula on file for me so it turned out just a tad more muted. This review is very long over do. This store is my "home store" for it is the closet location to me and under 10 min drive. I've had mixed feelings and experiences with other Ulta locations but this location deserves a shout out! Specifically this review is for Ashley (salon), Suzann (salon) and Nancy (find her by Lancôme products and the side with higher end makeup) all three of these women have made every experience I have at Ulta a delight and further more because of them I am ALWAYS THERE. Ashley is my go to hair stylist and Suzann does my blowouts if Ashley isn't available. We've come a long way since almost 2 years when I came to Ashley with broken, bleached hair. Ashley has taken the time to really teach me about my hair products, how to properly wash my hair and given me secrets to keep it looking fabulous every day. Nancy ALWAYS goes out of her way to help me find certain products and keeps my foundation (which always runs out) stocked! I can't be happier with this team. ULTA you did great with this team. Hair Services: I have had my hair done at ULTA a few times. Melody has done my hair. Sonia has also done my hair. Sonia is really expensive. She charges $200+ for full highlights and glaze and cut. She does a bomb blow out though to get your hair full of volume. Melody is a little bit more affordable. They both do a good job, but I don't think I will be coming back because the condition of my hair after they used the REDKIN color products. Even with a hair cut I still was noticing split ends... Skin and Body Care: They have just about every product out there. I wish ULTA carried more natural and organic products. Brow bar: I really like how Michelle does my brows. I recommend you make an apt with her if you like your brows to look exquisite. Price: $20-$30 Nail care: They are usually out of my favorite brand of nail polish : ZOYA. $8 a bottle All in all, I am a fan, but not pleased with the price of hair services or how they are usually out of my fav. products. read more

My husband and I shop here all the time, and we are always greeted and treated with so much respect. Frank is our favorite manager. I've been to this store a handful of times but yesterday evening in particular i stopped by after work and picked up some items i needed and was excited to use my new ULTA MasterCard for the first time since applying and being approved for on my last visit to ULTA in March. When i was approved back in March the girl that helped me told me I had an option to use my new ULTA M.C. one time 20% discount that day or save it for my next visit when i had a bigger purchase. I opted to save it and today was the day I wanted to use it! When i mentioned it to the girl that was ringing me up she was unsure I could do that and called over a manager. The male manager proceeded to tell me there's no way one of his girls would have told me that (as if i was lying) and then looked up my March purchase and said "well that was a pretty large purchase" (as if to say why wouldn't you have used you're discount back in March?) Well i didn't use it because I was given an"OPTION" by a ULTA employee that i could use it later if i wished. Then he said they wouldn't "normally" do this but he would override it and give me the discount...( as if he was doing me a huge favor.) If he checked my purchase the day i was approved wouldn't he have seen that a 20% discount was NOT applied at that time? Interesting they seem pretty excited to have you apply for the credit card, but ask for what you've been promised and you get interrogated and made to feel ashamed for asking. Not the greatest customer service skills, could benefit from being a little less condescending. read more

This Ulta location is by far the WORST i have been to. The products are of course, the same as any other location, but the staff is HORRIBLE. They make you feel uncomfortable. They watch your every single move. The manager is the worst out of all of them. He accused my friend and I of STEALING. He called security and caused a whole scene because he saw me holding an expensive product earlier. They later found the product in one of the aisles as I had already explained. I had such a great experience with one of Ulta Salon's hair stylists, Jessica! I came in a little unsure about what I wanted, but hoping to donate 12 inches of my hair. I'd never had a short cut before and Jessica was very patient, talking me through what I envisioned and what the change would be like. Once she started cutting, she talked me through the whole thing and was very careful with each cut she made. She is very knowledgeable of curly hair as well, which was a huge relief. She was so enthusiastic and I could tell she was proud of her work, and that made all the difference! The rest of the staff was really encouraging and sweet as well and I will be going back to buy make up and hair products from now on. Five stars all around! read more

i purchased 3 ulta ultra slim brow pencil. they had a promo going for buy 2 get 1 free, hence i bought 3. i went home and checked the colors and i made a mistake of getting medium brown instead of soft brown. i go back the next day to exchange the medium brown for the soft brown and the cashier, her name is beatriz, charged me full prize! she followed up by saying i needed to bring all 3 back to get the promo. how stupid and inconvenient! i purchased all 3 and need to exchange one for the correct color. making me go back home to give you the other two pencils to receive the promo, please tell me does that make any sense??? i swear some people have no common sense... read more

I love the friendly customer service and the staff at this location. I especially love the brow service at the benefits counter. I have.been going for about 2 years at this location and Michelle does a great job! I also love the dermalogic facials where Katherine shows great personalized service by making you comfortable and her hands are so soft on your face that it relaxes you. The facial feels fantastic. I had gifted service to my Dad for his birthday and he went with Katherine and loved it!!! I recommend trying the facial service and/or brow service! The girls are fantastic!! read more

Ulta Beauty, Hastings Ranch on Foothill Blvd, charged me twice for the same single product. When I went back into the store with my bank statement as proof, I was made to wait in the store for 35 minutes while the manager called IT Customer Service. She would not provide me with a refund on site; even though it was clearly their mistake. I was told the return of my funds would be handled by corporate within 48 hours. After more than 5 calls to corporate and the store manager and TWO WEEKS later, I still did not receive my funds. They kept saying that it would take up to 14 days to appear back on my bank statement; however, I called my bank several times and nothing was ever pending as a return. Corporate said they "processed" the return even though my bank confirmed they had not. The funds don't just magically appear on the 14th day. If the processed the return, it would have showed as a "pending" credit. After many calls with never any resolution, I contacted the Better Business Bureau to report Ulta Beauty, Hastings Ranch. It's no surprise that the BBB sent an email update to me reporting back that Ulta Beauty has not responded to my claim. Luckily, my bank was able to refund the money to me as I proved I was double charged. The bank is now responsible for having the pleasure to chase this company down to recover their funds. Shameful! The manager, Amanda, was no help either. She continually told ME to call customer service and expected me to sit on hold to fix THEIR mistake. I was continually told that their "store policy" requires refunds to be handled this way. Perhaps their "store policy" should be more focused around customer service and not what's "easiest" for them. Disgusting. Don't shop here. read more

This low rating is based on extremely bad customer service at this location alone. First off, I LOVE Ulta. I've been going to Ulta for over seven years (maybe more, I don't recall when they first came on the scene). I've gone to several locations throughout LA, but prefer Burbank for everything including the hair salon. That being said, the customer service is hit or miss at different locations. This particular one is quite a miss. The last three times I have been to this store in the last year I have had the worst customer experiences interacting with the staff. The first time I asked for a simple eye cream and rather than get options of all prices like the Burbank store has, the attendant here tried to sell me on the most expensive cream in the store suggesting I needed some work done in addition to the cream. I'm barely 30, so that was absurd and unsolicited advice. Most recently, I was checking out a specific product in the NYX line, I usually buy the more high end products but had heard about a taupe blush that was only available in this line. My friend and I, two grown women dressed in jeans and t-shirts for errands, were merely looking at products and testers to see what lipsticks were available for the sale. Suddenly, a guy with glasses rudely came over and accused us of opening up, sealed products. I was very annoyed and insulted with the rude accusatory tone this guy had toward two paying customers. I would never open sealed products in any context. What makes this even more absurd is the amount of products that had previously been opened and left in the display for customers who were shopping BEFORE I even got to the location. Clearly this guy needs to busy himself cleaning the display area before accusing customers of anything. I then went to check on some products in the high end area, only to be followed by this particular guy. He gave my friend and I dirty looks and continued to hover around us like we were going to steal. Suffice to say this ruined my entire shopping experience. The guy did not however, pay attention to the 13 year old pair of girls who were playing with testers and leaving junk all over since their other was buying high end products and not attending to her children. No, he decided we were obviously a threat to his store and decided to rudely follow us. I've honestly never been treated this way in a store. I usually buy $75-200 of make up at a time when I visit Ultas because I dislike Sephora's snooty attitude. But this guy, probably got fired from a Sephora, and brought along their bad attitude. I refuse to ever shop at this store again. I'll only be using the Burbank store from now on. Rude and accusatory behavior along with unsolicited advice from staff lost this customer's money. read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at this store. The salespeople can be 'overly friendly' by constantly asking if you need help, but I haven't minded as they are friendly and knowledgeable and this establishes a strong sense of customer service. I'm writing because, after suffering through this pandemic for the past 18 months, I have *just* ventured out for beauty services and decided to get a brow wax. I asked the brow person if she was vaccinated and she said she wasn't! I am shocked that Ulta is allowing a beautician who is in close proximity to people's faces (despite mask, shield and gloves) to perform this service. This person said she actually *had* Covid about a month ago and was now fine. How many people sat in her chair before she realized she was contagious? There are children in the store with their parents who cannot yet be vaccinated and they could have been infected. Why would an employee, clearly an adult, in a job that demands close contact with the public not think it's important to get the vaccine and then do it? The irresponsibility of Ulta in not mandating that beauticians be vaxxed is staggering. This is a top-down, management issue though I would hope an individual in this role would recognize the danger she put others in. This is enough for Ulta to lose my business from now on. read more

My go-to store when I need drugstore brand cosmetics! True, the prices on many items are higher than places like Target. But here is my trick: watch for an item you want to go on sale AND/OR find a coupon in the Sunday newspaper. THEN combine that with one of Ulta's coupons (they always have one going). My favorite was the "$5 Off Any $10 Purchase"- wow! You can save so much money if you just time it right! They also have a very flexible return policy, which Target does not have. If a product really doesn't work for me or irritates my sensitive skin, etc., I know I can safely take it back to Ulta without any problems. The people are usually nice and helpful too. The parking is convenient too, except when you have to battle the crazies from Best Buy for a spot. read more

While the only downside is the smaller-than-usual parking spaces, there are a ton of shops in this complex. Had such a great visit to Ulta, back in my stomping grounds last weekend for their meet & greet event introducing Beauty Vlogger Weylie. Too Faced and Ulta staff took such great care of us and the experience at my very first meet & greet was a ton of fun! Shopping and meeting new faces, and of course, the highlight meeting Weylie. The store was bright and so much to choose from! It was busy in the makeover area but everyone looked like they were enjoying their makeup experiences. The staff immediately welcomed me and I received a numbered band to wear until we had to line up outside in our number rank on the bracelet. I loved that there would not be a mad dash to line up outside or lose my place in line even if I had arrived a few hours before the event time. I was so happily surprised at how organized and attentive Too Faced/Ulta staff were to ensure our care while waiting for the event to start. They even made multiple trips to the line, to hand out bottled water and keep most of us in the shade for the remaining hour we waited outside. The first two hours, Weylie's fans, myself included, got to shop in the A/C. The staff was just awesome! It was the perfect day to finally get my hands on the Too Faced Palettes I had been eyeing for the last few months. So in love with my recent purchases! And the icing on the cake besides just how extremely sweet and professional Weylie and Wah were, Weylie even started 15-20 min ahead of schedule!! So kind!! Ew. Worker Andrea is a bitch. Why? For a simple transaction, she was saying she cannot do it when another Ulta said they can easily do it without a problem. She just didn't want to do anything and continue texting on her phone. When I mentioned that the other Ulta had the same policy of returning an item because the other cashier failed to use a coupon and repurchase the item, she said she cannot do it. It's not their "problem" and this is Pasadena not the other Ulta. And went back to texting. The manager passes by and bitch closes in again and pretends to help and says "Do you have any questions?" Yes. Like I told you these items. "Oh I am not sure let me ask" . Bitch you could had done that from the start instead of saying you cannot do that and wasting my time while you were fucking texting on your shift. Anyways, the manager says the same thing I told her "yeah just return the items and process the transaction again" and the manager goes to the cashier to help the line (because keep in mind Andrea was just texting). Then unprofessional Andrea sighs and rolls her eyes when her manager wasn't looking. I check my receipt and noticed that she didn't return the item I told her and she gives a loud sigh, clearly annoyed. Andrea needs to get fired. Everyone else seemed nice but this bitch needs to get fired and learn her lesson of customer service. For something that would had taken 2 minutes (because there was no one in line when I came in), I ended up wasting 35 minutes. read more

I was harassed several times today and only bought bc of Paulette. As I turned to leave after spending $244.88, I heard the blonde ponytail manager type fussing at her for not harassing me and saying "next time..." Maybe there won't be a next time if I choose to shop at Sephora since you obviously don't care about your good customers. In addition, the employees mostly don't know anything except when the product reps are in store. For example they don't know about silicones and it's various names. They don't know if a product has been discontinued or out of stock. I even brought a friend who was new to Ulta Beauty. She was not impressed w your treatment of me.
